Finally, Birth Story...

I had our newest edition, Sadie Alisabeth, on October 13th. She shares her birthday with big sis Allyssa and they are exactly 4 years apart. I didn't plan it this way. At one in the morning I woke up to a very mild contraction. I couldn't believe it. I was not due until the 18th and what are the odds of having 2 children with the same birthday. The contractions were about 15 minutes apart until about 6 in the morning. They started to get stronger and longer, so off to the hospital we went. We were admitted around 7:30. I was already dialated past 5cm and the contractions were around 2 to 5 minutes apart. I caved and got the epidural. I couldn't believe how bad the pain was. I had an epi with my son, but not with our first daughter. It wasn't that bad and I was hoping to go natural again. Allyssa weighed 7lbs 9oz and the natural birth was a breeze. Sadie weighed exactly 10lbs and thank God for the Epidural. Her being 10lbs explains alot in the pain department. Anyway, I got the epidural and they sneaked in a relaxer, which made me very sick to my stomach. So I laid there, not feeling any contractions or anything until about 1:30 in the afternoon. I had the biggest urge to push. About 5 good pushes and Sadie was born, at 1:48. She was huge. I did not tear though. They swept her off to the nursery and my family followed, all but my mother-in-law. The doctor, a very little woman, was trying to get the placenta out and it would not budge. She had her arm in there all the way up to her shoulder, for over 45 min. She was getting ready to do a DNC when it finally decided to come out. It was huge too. I lost 16lbs on that day. We are all home now and doing fine. I am so glad that is over and I can enjoy my family again.

Just found out I am pregnant with our 3rd child. Too excited. My son and daughter's b-days are in October, and I am due, yet again, in October:) The above pics are my Husband, Son, and Daughter. My son, Preston, wants a little brother and my daughter, Allyssa, walks around holding her belly saying "baby in there." Our due date is somewhere between October 8 and October 15 of '07.

2-15-07 I went to my first Doctors visit today. They confirmed that I am pregnant (not that 9 positive home pregnacy test didn't give it away). They also drew a gallon of blood and did a full exam. This was my first visit with this Doctor. My other 2 pregnancies where with a doctor that has since relocated. I will go on March first for an ultrasound. I cannot wait. It will give me a more precise due date. I have a 35 day cycle, so we do not know when I ovulated, hence the due week of October 8 thru 15. So far, So Good :)

March 2, 2007 I had my first Ultra Sound yesterday. Everything went great. We heard the Heart Beat and the measurements put me at 7 weeks pregnant. My new due date is October 18th. That is exactly 5 days after my daughters birthday (13th) and 5 days before my sons birthday (23). We have started to remodel our upstairs so that my son can move up there and free up a room for a nursery. He seems excited about it, but he is young. I think he may bunk in his sister's room or sneak on the couch at night. He is helping us decide on the colors for his new room and bathroom. He is hoping for a baby brother, so he is still holding out for bunk beds:)

The baby is in the little black sack up top. It is hard to see, but there are 2 white x's that mark the baby in the sack. "Itty bitty living space."

March 29, 2007 I had a doctor's appointment today. We heard the heart beat with a rate of 160bpm. I have gained a total of 5lbs and everything is looking good.

5-3-07 I had a doctor's appointment today. Nothing too interesting happened. We waited for almost an hour to hear the baby's heart beat and get my blood taken (again). We get our ultra sound on the 24th and then see the doctor again on the 31st. :) I have gained 8 lbs so far.

5-24-07 It's a Girl. Or so the ultrasound says. She was bouncing all over the place, so it was hard to get a really good shot of the gender, but the ultrasound tech said she had been looking thoughout the scan and is pretty sure it is a Girl. My son cannot say girl, so he has been telling everyone we are having a baby ghoul. Looks like all the predictions were right (except the Chinese chart).

July 7, 2007

Hey. I haven't been online in a while. I spent the 4th in the hospital. And as if that is not bad enough, we were out of town on vacation. I started bleeding really bad and was contracting something horrible. Turns out I have a terrible bladder infection and the bladder spasms could have sent me into preterm labor, Yikes. All the blood was coming from my bladder. They tested my panties for amniotic fluid and it came back positive. I was freaking out. We got to spend the whole day admitted in a strange hospital. I was the only person on the labor/delivery floor. My husband was not taking it all too well, especially when they wheeled in a baby incubator and delivery stuff. They were able to stop most of my bleeding and pumped me full of antibiotics and pain killers for the rest of the day. The amniotic fluid turned out to be false positive, it was picking up the blood in my panties from the urine (no bladder control what so ever). They wanted to keep me over night. It was our last day on vacation, and every hotel/resort was totally booked up. The hospital really did not have room for both my kids and my husband to sleep there. So they said I could leave if the bleeding slowed and the baby was not in any stress. She was hooked up to a monitor all day and we got another ultrasound to be sure my placenta was still in place and my amniotic fluid was holding. The only good part of the day was seeing her face up close and watching her blink. She looks just like our older daughter and weighs 2 1/2 lbs already. I gained 12 lbs in two days, due to all the swelling, and am now starting to feel alot better. I am home now and the bleeding has stopped. The infection is still there, but it is so much better (thanks to the antibiotics). I do not feel like I am peeing lava anymore and my doctor checked me out today and all is well again. I had never had a bladder infection before and was stunned to learn that's what was wrong. I have been drinking a gallon of water every 2 days, but it was not enough to keep my bladder flushed. Hope everyones 4th was better than mine.

August 30, 2007

I had a doctor's appointment today. He checked my cervix and said the outside is open (100% effaced) and the inside is still closed. I can start to dialate at any time now. The babies head is down, so that explains all the pressure I have been feeling. I go on the 31st for a leg ultra sound, because of swelling. I am sure its nothing, but he thinks it could be clots. I think he is just trying to cover all the bases, I mean, what pregnant women doesn't have some swelling.

September 28, 2007

I had a doctor's appointement today and am dialated to 3cm. He stripped my membranes and now we will just wait and see. I had never had that done before and it really didn't hurt. I had a few contractions throughout the day, but nothing promising. I go back to the doctor next Friday.

October 5, 2007

Back to the doctor today. I am now dialated to 4cm and he stripped my membranes, yet again (really kinda hurt this time). I thought I would be in active labor when at 4cm, but I am lacking in the contractions department. He said I am a ticking timebomb and he doesn't expect me to make it to my next appointment (which is next Friday). We will see.

October 8, 2007

Still no labor. I am beginning to think that stripping the membranes does nothing more than give a very pregnant woman false hope. I have tried everything to bring on the contractions. Nothing is working. The doctor suggested sex, nipple stimulation and of course, the membranes being stripped. None of which have done a thing. I have read about spicey food, Raspberry Leaf tea and countless other things to eat to bring on labor and none of those do anything either. I have had one person tell me to suck on my thumb and another to just envision labor will begin. The only thing I have not tried is Castor Oil, which I would never take. So this is where I am. I am dialated to 4cm, 100 % effaced, the baby is head down and I am sucking on my thumb and envisioning labor. Pathetic.

October 12, 2007

Had another Doctor's appointment today. I am dialated to 4.5cm and he stripped my membranes for a 3rd time. I am suddenly very sick feeling and anxious. I took a Phenergan and am hoping it will make me feel better. My next appointment is next Thursday, but I am hoping Sadie will be here by then.

Iv'e been having sharp virinal pains! maybe that is it then? wish i new! with Thomas my waters just broke, they started running down my legs I was sitting down leaned forward and heard them pop! then I stood up and there they were I shat myself! i didn't get contractions for 2 hours well not painfull ones- it was horrible cause everytime i had a contraction water was squeezing out and felt so horrible I felt really dirty - I know i was in labour but it just felt bad. i keep expecting it to happen like that this time but maybe it won't, it is wierd though.

My midwife says as soon as baby is born the temps will go for good and I for one won't be sorry, although we will be in summer by then so I guess I will still be hot and my poor old aircon is gonna have a melt down, thats if the power grids don't shut down first, last year we averaged power blackouts on an average of 3 times a week, heres hoping it won't be that bad this year. I have already set up a bed for me and a spare cot for baby in the longe room in front of the air con... I have it all planned out, and I checked to make sure the generator is still working...lol

KatieRow - Sunday, 30 Sep
Church today. My mom and dad go to church when their friend preaches. :) I am feeling pretty good, though. So, when do you think the baby will come? On due date or before?

KatieRow - Sunday, 30 Sep
A New Year's baby would be awesome! I just want a healthy one. We'll see what happens. LOL...So, how are you today? Do you have a lot of plans today?

KatieRow - Sunday, 30 Sep
How are you doing today? I hope you're feeling good.

Bek 30 - Sunday, 30 Sep
My midwife says it is all hormonal... sorry...lol. I been the same, aircon on and i make the boys rug up, I nearly pass out everynight at the same time... wow we r complaining about it now...wait till menopause...lol

Rebecca24 - Sunday, 30 Sep
Yep i'm going to try! they said that they won't let me be in labour for hours & hours, if the labour doesn't progress then I will have o have a caserean as it will put too much pressure on my scar! so I really hope I can do it! I'm dreading it but know that it will be much better afterwards - no matter how many stitches I have it won't be in my stomach that's the main thing. I'm going to go for an epidural if I can not risking the scar giving way without one Awwww :-) but we'l see. I can't beleive how low my tummy is now! the baby has just sunk to the bottom I just wish it would come- the past few weeks have flown but now their dragging, i'm such a baby though I know that as soon as it happens i'm goinmg to cry cause i'l be scared! I'm due 2 day's before you but I bet you'l have yours 1st!
Have you bought loads of girl stuff have you? we have only been able to buy a few white & yellow things as we don't know what it is- no idea either, can't wait to find out. Imagine you have a boy now! maybe the dreams are telling you something! :-) Iv'e been dreaming i'm having a girl, can't imagine it being a girl though with having a boy, we still cannot think of a boy's name! so I hope it's a girl as she will be called Jessica, have though of Ashley for a boy but just don't know, can call girl's Ashley too.
Can you tell that you have dilated? or do you just know because you have been told?

Rebecca24 - Sunday, 30 Sep
Oh poor you! you'v been through it lately! maybe the baby wasn't ready but i'm sure she's had a good nudge now so will be out soon- must be nearly ready for yu to have dilated though? Ye I fee the same i think right I want this baby out but then if I get a pain or anything and I think this might be it then I shit myself! :-) I'm really not sure at all if Iv'e dilated? I didn't give birth last time & they tried to see how dilated I was as I did have 6 hours of labour but it hurt so much I crawlewd up the bed screemed and was so tense they couldn't check.
I don't know what it feels like really if i am? iv'e had pains in there and Iv'e tried having sex to get things going and that hurts like hell- really bad! so don't know if that means it might? wish they would check so i know.
So your baby is big! do you usually have big babies? Thomas was 8lb 10 for me & i'm sure this baby is about the same if not a bit more, i recon your baby will come soon now your 3cm, isn't labour established at 4?? It's so scary that it's coming anytime in the next 2 weeks! I want it out just want to skip the getting it out bit :-)

Rebecca24 - Saturday, 29 Sep
Hi, How you doing? so your neary there then? how you feeling after they stripped your membranes? so annoying here they don't check to see if you have dilated anymore not until your due or in labour! I wish i knew- the baby has engaged though and I'm finding it difficult to walk :-) Taking Rasberry leaf now see how that goes probebly won't work! the midwife sadid to try some nookie too! well that is so painfull and not worked yet! so might have to give up on that one i know there's still 2 weeks left but I just can't be doing with it anymore, how's your pelvic pain now? did you get my message sauying it should be better almost instantly a few day's or a week and you'l be fine! I hope anyway.
Hope your ok???

Familyof4 - Saturday, 29 Sep
I think my doc stripped mine without my concent at my visit this past Monday. Hurt and I immediately started bleeding. I was uncomfortable and in at least some pain and discomfort through Thursday. Wednesday the plug came out, not doubt due to his interventions. No other progress though. Next appointment is this Monday and my pants are staying on!!

Bek 30 - Saturday, 29 Sep
Hi Nyam, Is baby lying spine to spine? Thats a killer in itself. I had that with my first pregnancy and nothing helped as I have scoliosis and hate pressure on my back. Try soaking in a bath, or a lay in bed with a hot water bottle on ure back, if ure like me and hate the pressure, u can always put towels in a really hot bath, wring them out and lay them on ure back, also try getting on all fours and slightly rock back and fourth. Hope that helps.

ArMarrie - Saturday, 29 Sep
Thanks for the comment on my poll. I hope so.

OctoberMommyAgain - Friday, 28 Sep
I saw that your children are both in October and so is the new addition-to-be. It is just like our family. My daughter is the 25th, my son the 22nd, my husband the 24th and I am due the 26th.... Congrats and good luck!!

Bek 30 - Thursday, 27 Sep
I wouldn't start worrying about not feeling baby move so much. I'm having the same problem and when my midwife asked if I feel her 10 times in an hour I laughed and said not likely, she's like how often do u feel her, and I'm like not often at all. She gave me a lecture on not calling, but as I said, if I did that everyday, I would have to take shares out in the telephone company. I usually find if I am worried enough I drive down get the largest slurpee ( It's gotta be coke..lol) and I skull it, then I lay down on my left side and I tell ya she moves so hard that sometimes I wish I hadn't skulled down the slurpee, my midwife checked her heartbeat on my last visit and it was so strong I thought she was about to jump outta my belly then and their, so if in doubt, drink something high in sugar and really cold, and I guarantee baby will be kicking out the side.

luckymumma - Thursday, 27 Sep
thanks angela,infact i was alsohurt a bit,,but thanks again

res - Tuesday, 25 Sep
Thanks so much for the info. I just got worried because my pregnancy has been smooth sailing thankfully so far, an then this whole thing with the sugar happened. I'm due to have my GD test in 10 days, but was worried that the trace of sugar meant I have GD. Good luck with your pregnancy!

bsmith2007 - Tuesday, 25 Sep
