Finally, Birth Story...

I had our newest edition, Sadie Alisabeth, on October 13th. She shares her birthday with big sis Allyssa and they are exactly 4 years apart. I didn't plan it this way. At one in the morning I woke up to a very mild contraction. I couldn't believe it. I was not due until the 18th and what are the odds of having 2 children with the same birthday. The contractions were about 15 minutes apart until about 6 in the morning. They started to get stronger and longer, so off to the hospital we went. We were admitted around 7:30. I was already dialated past 5cm and the contractions were around 2 to 5 minutes apart. I caved and got the epidural. I couldn't believe how bad the pain was. I had an epi with my son, but not with our first daughter. It wasn't that bad and I was hoping to go natural again. Allyssa weighed 7lbs 9oz and the natural birth was a breeze. Sadie weighed exactly 10lbs and thank God for the Epidural. Her being 10lbs explains alot in the pain department. Anyway, I got the epidural and they sneaked in a relaxer, which made me very sick to my stomach. So I laid there, not feeling any contractions or anything until about 1:30 in the afternoon. I had the biggest urge to push. About 5 good pushes and Sadie was born, at 1:48. She was huge. I did not tear though. They swept her off to the nursery and my family followed, all but my mother-in-law. The doctor, a very little woman, was trying to get the placenta out and it would not budge. She had her arm in there all the way up to her shoulder, for over 45 min. She was getting ready to do a DNC when it finally decided to come out. It was huge too. I lost 16lbs on that day. We are all home now and doing fine. I am so glad that is over and I can enjoy my family again.

Just found out I am pregnant with our 3rd child. Too excited. My son and daughter's b-days are in October, and I am due, yet again, in October:) The above pics are my Husband, Son, and Daughter. My son, Preston, wants a little brother and my daughter, Allyssa, walks around holding her belly saying "baby in there." Our due date is somewhere between October 8 and October 15 of '07.

2-15-07 I went to my first Doctors visit today. They confirmed that I am pregnant (not that 9 positive home pregnacy test didn't give it away). They also drew a gallon of blood and did a full exam. This was my first visit with this Doctor. My other 2 pregnancies where with a doctor that has since relocated. I will go on March first for an ultrasound. I cannot wait. It will give me a more precise due date. I have a 35 day cycle, so we do not know when I ovulated, hence the due week of October 8 thru 15. So far, So Good :)

March 2, 2007 I had my first Ultra Sound yesterday. Everything went great. We heard the Heart Beat and the measurements put me at 7 weeks pregnant. My new due date is October 18th. That is exactly 5 days after my daughters birthday (13th) and 5 days before my sons birthday (23). We have started to remodel our upstairs so that my son can move up there and free up a room for a nursery. He seems excited about it, but he is young. I think he may bunk in his sister's room or sneak on the couch at night. He is helping us decide on the colors for his new room and bathroom. He is hoping for a baby brother, so he is still holding out for bunk beds:)

The baby is in the little black sack up top. It is hard to see, but there are 2 white x's that mark the baby in the sack. "Itty bitty living space."

March 29, 2007 I had a doctor's appointment today. We heard the heart beat with a rate of 160bpm. I have gained a total of 5lbs and everything is looking good.

5-3-07 I had a doctor's appointment today. Nothing too interesting happened. We waited for almost an hour to hear the baby's heart beat and get my blood taken (again). We get our ultra sound on the 24th and then see the doctor again on the 31st. :) I have gained 8 lbs so far.

5-24-07 It's a Girl. Or so the ultrasound says. She was bouncing all over the place, so it was hard to get a really good shot of the gender, but the ultrasound tech said she had been looking thoughout the scan and is pretty sure it is a Girl. My son cannot say girl, so he has been telling everyone we are having a baby ghoul. Looks like all the predictions were right (except the Chinese chart).

July 7, 2007

Hey. I haven't been online in a while. I spent the 4th in the hospital. And as if that is not bad enough, we were out of town on vacation. I started bleeding really bad and was contracting something horrible. Turns out I have a terrible bladder infection and the bladder spasms could have sent me into preterm labor, Yikes. All the blood was coming from my bladder. They tested my panties for amniotic fluid and it came back positive. I was freaking out. We got to spend the whole day admitted in a strange hospital. I was the only person on the labor/delivery floor. My husband was not taking it all too well, especially when they wheeled in a baby incubator and delivery stuff. They were able to stop most of my bleeding and pumped me full of antibiotics and pain killers for the rest of the day. The amniotic fluid turned out to be false positive, it was picking up the blood in my panties from the urine (no bladder control what so ever). They wanted to keep me over night. It was our last day on vacation, and every hotel/resort was totally booked up. The hospital really did not have room for both my kids and my husband to sleep there. So they said I could leave if the bleeding slowed and the baby was not in any stress. She was hooked up to a monitor all day and we got another ultrasound to be sure my placenta was still in place and my amniotic fluid was holding. The only good part of the day was seeing her face up close and watching her blink. She looks just like our older daughter and weighs 2 1/2 lbs already. I gained 12 lbs in two days, due to all the swelling, and am now starting to feel alot better. I am home now and the bleeding has stopped. The infection is still there, but it is so much better (thanks to the antibiotics). I do not feel like I am peeing lava anymore and my doctor checked me out today and all is well again. I had never had a bladder infection before and was stunned to learn that's what was wrong. I have been drinking a gallon of water every 2 days, but it was not enough to keep my bladder flushed. Hope everyones 4th was better than mine.

August 30, 2007

I had a doctor's appointment today. He checked my cervix and said the outside is open (100% effaced) and the inside is still closed. I can start to dialate at any time now. The babies head is down, so that explains all the pressure I have been feeling. I go on the 31st for a leg ultra sound, because of swelling. I am sure its nothing, but he thinks it could be clots. I think he is just trying to cover all the bases, I mean, what pregnant women doesn't have some swelling.

September 28, 2007

I had a doctor's appointement today and am dialated to 3cm. He stripped my membranes and now we will just wait and see. I had never had that done before and it really didn't hurt. I had a few contractions throughout the day, but nothing promising. I go back to the doctor next Friday.

October 5, 2007

Back to the doctor today. I am now dialated to 4cm and he stripped my membranes, yet again (really kinda hurt this time). I thought I would be in active labor when at 4cm, but I am lacking in the contractions department. He said I am a ticking timebomb and he doesn't expect me to make it to my next appointment (which is next Friday). We will see.

October 8, 2007

Still no labor. I am beginning to think that stripping the membranes does nothing more than give a very pregnant woman false hope. I have tried everything to bring on the contractions. Nothing is working. The doctor suggested sex, nipple stimulation and of course, the membranes being stripped. None of which have done a thing. I have read about spicey food, Raspberry Leaf tea and countless other things to eat to bring on labor and none of those do anything either. I have had one person tell me to suck on my thumb and another to just envision labor will begin. The only thing I have not tried is Castor Oil, which I would never take. So this is where I am. I am dialated to 4cm, 100 % effaced, the baby is head down and I am sucking on my thumb and envisioning labor. Pathetic.

October 12, 2007

Had another Doctor's appointment today. I am dialated to 4.5cm and he stripped my membranes for a 3rd time. I am suddenly very sick feeling and anxious. I took a Phenergan and am hoping it will make me feel better. My next appointment is next Thursday, but I am hoping Sadie will be here by then.

Hi me again! I have just spoken to my friend and she said it went away almost instantly, just a few days max she said, should be the same for you, she said everyone she knows who have had it it's been the same

Rebecca24 - Thursday, 20 Sep
I know how you feel everything is such hard work isn't it! I wish i knew if i had dilated at all! don't think they check here unless you are in labour or on your due date, bit silly really! I hope you don't get to worn out with the Birthays! you have another Birthday to do soon too LOL. Ive been getting really tired during the day have to have a 1/2 hr nap or I feelOI can't go on,do you have that too? isn't it such hard work! this is your 3rd too I deffinantly don't think I will be having a 3rd, not after all this. Thanks for the info in effacing i'll ask the midwife about it on wed and i'll let you know about the SPD after delivery later once I have spoken to my friend? Hope your not in too much pain today (what do we have to go through!) :-(

Rebecca24 - Thursday, 20 Sep
Oh I love your pics too! kids are so cute! and love your Bump :-)

shylacerda - Thursday, 20 Sep
Sorry, I just read your comment. I have been real busy with school, church, and getting ready for the baby. Congratulations on your girl!! I am also having my 3rd, and it's a girl. If I can get the hang of this, I will show some ultrasound pics and some pics after our babies are born. Yes, I am currently not working. I told my doctor I was ready. Where I work it is also very very hot!! I also come home drenched (and smelly, my kids always let me know that) with sweat. Being 7 months pregnant and working there, I only went to the bathroom maybe 2-3 times in a 12 hour period. Like your husband said, I guess from sweating so much I didn't have to go. In Fort Smith it was getting up to 100 degrees or so. But here, the humidity is what gets to you!! I cannot believe the pregnancy went so well while working there. Well, sorry it took so long and thanks for the message. Hope to hear from you again! Congrats again on the baby girl! Shyla

Rebecca24 - Wednesday, 19 Sep
Also, Strange too that your aunt has never heard od SPD?? maybe it isn't taught there or something? very wierd. What is effaced? don't think I have heard of it? it's your other childrens birthdays soon too isn't it?

Rebecca24 - Wednesday, 19 Sep
Umm not sure if I have dilated, they don't usuall check yet, I see the midwife next wed, and you know what I never thought to ask about how long it takes to get better after! I will ask but I guess it will be fine after, especially with the baby not being there? my friend had it really bad last year i will ask her how long it took for her and let you know after? and i'm also not sure about the plug thing either? last time i had back ache and my waters just went, so haven't seen it sorry! i guess you would know? do you think you have lost yours? when you dilate can you tell? do you get pains? you know in your vigina? sorry yo be crude, just ive been having alot and i'm not sure if that could be what it is?

Rebecca24 - Wednesday, 19 Sep
Reading what you have said i think you deffinantly have it, and qute bad! you poor thing, mine is very painfull, mainly when I walk and lie down also lifting my legs, the fact that yours is really bad when you lift your legs is deffinantly a sighn of it. can't beleive everyones attitude to pregnancy there! must make it more unbearable! feel really sorry for you! so yopu must be in slow labour now too then which musn't be helping, I thinks she'l b here by the end of the week! just a guess! my midwife told me that each time you get pregnant the more efficient your body gets too it so the more likely for SPD and pain, cause I deffinantly didn't have all these pains last time i was pregnant either and am deffinantly not doing it again :-) she said that the mscles that hold your pelvis together can soften too much to prepare for labour causeing SPD and it's your pelvis moving causing all the pain, you must keep your knees together to swing out of bed get in and out of car and off chairs etc and try to keep legs together as much as possible, there are support belts you can get i have one, but think it's a bit late for you to get one there now :-( I can't beleive that they think you should grin and bare it! SPD can be serious in some cases and some women need a wheelchair to get about! I feel really bad for you, but I think it will be all over for you very soon! have they checked the position of the baby? cause a baby with it's back on your back can cause alot of back pain and can be more uncomfortable during labour? mine was back to back last week and i have had o do things like try to crawl and not lie backwards and sit forwards on chairs to get it to move, which it now has, very uncomfortable but could be that too? have they said you are in slow labour now then?

Rebecca24 - Wednesday, 19 Sep
Hi, Hope you don't mind but i read that your in pain and that you are already 1cm dilated! you must be in the early stages of slow labour then? I'm sorry your in so much pain! i am having a really painfull one this time! i have been diagnosed with SPD and it's no joke, unfortunatly there is nothing that can be done, just get the baby out! :-) your baby will be here soon then? I know people that have had back labour on time and tummy labour the next, I think it depends on the position of the baby etc, i realy hope you will be ok!!

Bek 30 - Monday, 17 Sep
Hahaha, her perky boobs won't last that long, hopefully anyway. The way I see it with the stretch marks and saggy boobs or even bigger boobs, we have the perfect reason for it, beautiful kids that wern't brought into this world with nothing and parents that thought it would be a breeze, that makes it all the more worthwhile, besides I found a great way to hide those stretchmarks that r around the hips anyway, a nice tattoo with my sons fave animal pic and his name underneath it, and I will do the same with my daughter...just a pity her father gave her a longer name then my sons...lol, not sure how I will sit still long enough for her name to be inked into me. We gotta be thankful to whoever invented walls don't we...lol,as I am sure I wouldn't b able to crawl to the toilet at night. I even have to roll off the couch onto all fours, then drag myself up using the other couch, the first time hubby seen me do that, he looked at me as if I were a weirdo or something, now if his around he actually gets up off his ass and helps me up, it's not that I have a huge beachball in my tummy, more like weak legs and sore pelvis/groin/hips and back...arghhh killers.

Bek 30 - Monday, 17 Sep
Hi Angela, Your describing exactly how I feel. My midwife also said it is normal. It makes me wonder seen as though it's not our first is it just our muscles realising what we r going to go through again? I'm starting to think it's our bodies way of saying we r getting ready and hoppefully making it easier on us in some way. Especially if all our midwifes and Dr's r saying it is normal. I just wish they understood how it really feels for us. I know in bed at night I am in laying their in pain in my hips and back and when I move I get a bad pain in the vagina and groin, then when I get up to go to the toilet, I have to roll out of bed, hold on to the cot for support and then grab what ever is in my way to the bathroom, It seriously makes it feel as though we r stuck in an old persons body. I have no suggestions on what may relieve the pain, I know a hot bath dosen't help, but I just wanted to stop by and let you know your not alone and it's defintly not in our heads ( my dad likes to say it's in my head so I don't have to do anything around the house...lol), but I know it's not funny, and as for the crying, I know I want to but I'm in to much pain to even shed a tear. I just wish we could jump ahead a few weeks and have this baby out. My 15 yr old cousin has just admitted to being pregnant, she believes it is as simple as having sex, planting the seed and in 9 months their is a baby their without any pain what so ever, I don't think she believed me when I said it's not as simple as that....oooo I know it's mean but I hope she feels half as bad as me. But just think this pain is just temporary and in a few weeks we will have forgotton about it ( although I made hubby promise me next time I beg for a baby, he stands firm and says NO, their is no way I could do this again...hehehe. Anyway please take care and just try to relax when u can, which I know is hard when we have kids to chase about and do things for.

lishee - Wednesday, 12 Sep
thanks for your help.. we are due on the same day!! how are you feeling??

lucky lizard - Tuesday, 11 Sep
Loved what you had to say about Britney Spears.... I was feeling down about my huge self the other night, and discovered a web site called theshapeofamother.com; just thought I'd share -- it's really great!

smitten-kitten - Saturday, 8 Sep
Hi Angela, sorry for the late reply, i haven't been on line for a few days as i've felt terrible! It's really weird what you said about the pain in yout pelvis cos that's exactly how i feel. It seems to be getting worse over the last few days and today it hurt to walk down a few steps. Weird. I spoke to my midwife and i got the usual 'you've got to expect some pain, your muscles are moving, stretching' & that kinda wound me up! I know it's my first and i do expect to feel various things but surely not things that make you gasp or wince in pain?! She kind of made me think that i was being a hypochondriac. I have another appt on Tuesday so i'm going to tell them again and see what the score is! The midwives here are really good and i had a tour around the hospital today where it'll all take place when the the time comes! It was nice to see it all and discuss stuff but god, it's made it so 'real' now!! How are you feeling other than that? I hope ok anyway! Fingers crossed our 'pains' go away!! x

strbeams - Friday, 7 Sep
Thanks for the info. I'd prob be freaked out until I noticed that she was turning and then feel better. Oh, and the stopping for gas thing.... that's one thing my hubby has always lectured me about when he gets in my car and its on empty. I'm one of those that trys to see just how many miles I can get to a tank. :} I'll just have to be in the habit of keeping it at least at the half way point now or I'll be hating myself for having to wait at the gas station. HA Ha.

wisfarmgirl - Thursday, 6 Sep
OMG! I had to laugh out loud (at work) about your post about stopping for gas when you're in labor and it seeming like it took forever but it was only 2 gallons! lol! I'm sure it was NOT funny to you at the time though, but great story!!! :)

Rebecca24 - Thursday, 6 Sep
Hi good to hear from you! actually I don't know about the friend thing? i can't see it? didn't do anything? but I would have added you as a friend had I seen it?? where is it? I'm really scared now can't beleive only 5 1/2 wks to go! and if it is early like my 1st only 3 1/2!!!!!!!!!!! I am really really nervos! are you? the midwife told me the baby is facing the wrong way! not breach like last time but back on mine so i have to try to get it to turn or it's the worst birth! my sister in law had her'#s like it and had to have surgery after! and someone in my wk the same a few weeks ago so i'm crawling round and everything, got a appointment with consultant next week and hopefully having a positioning scan to see why can't i have babies that face the right way! :-) Any way hope you are well??

little ms oki - Thursday, 6 Sep
My son could care less too. What's up with kids wanting breakfast the second they wake up? My son is so bad with that.. geez! My BF doesn't give me any sympathy either..when I ask him to help me rub my cramp out. He's too busy sleeping, ahhh he's such a butthead :) Thanks I'll try the increasing my water...which will increase my bathroom usage and so on...lol :) Okay now I'm just whining. Oh did I forget to say...I love being pregnant.

little ms oki - Thursday, 6 Sep
Thanks for your msg. Thankfully it was a yeast infection because after using the cream it went away. PUPPS does not sound fun at all, even more so because not much can be done about it. So how are you feeling? Me..same ole' complants. Mostly leg cramps and NO sleep. I see your having all October babies too. My son's birthday is October 26 and my daughter is due October 11. Hopefully I have her October 1 because I don't think I can wait any longer than that...lol :)

chilipop - Wednesday, 5 Sep
Hey there. I know we are sooo close. You are gonna meet yours very soon. I have been keeping my sugars under control with the insulin and diet. the baby weighed 5lbs last wed. I have one more ultra sound on the 26th. Hope the baby stays under 9lbs. I feel great except I'm like a round stuff sausage. My feet and legs started swelling this past two weeks too. Mine is from being on my feet to much. We were short handed at work and I paid for it.I'm trying to get back to resting frequently and get the swelling down again. I have lots to do still and don't want to be bed ridden.Hope your feeling great and have an easy labor.

smitten-kitten - Tuesday, 4 Sep
Hi Angela, Wow - am loving your VIP page, esp the songs on there. I've just listened to 'Like the rain' and it's struck a chord with me for something and brought a tear to my eye!! Anyhow, re being sore 'down there' i feel exactly the same as you with the pain when taking 1st few steps, esp when i wake up in the night to go to the loo or like you say, when i've just got up. How weird is it? I haven't a clue of what it is and the midwife was like 'well you haven't got an infection so it's just part of preparing for motherhood'! I was like oh thanks, here's hoping my insides don't fall out then lol!! Hope you're keeping well, the photo's of your children are sooo v sweet too! Take care!

HI! Congratulations on your girl! I love the name Sadie. It's almost like my oldest's nickname Saigie AKA Saige!! Thanks for your poll vote, but racked my brain on what your abbreviation meant=) when you said it was more commom w/boys. Well Good luck w/ the rest of your pregnancy and God bless

mummy2be - Friday, 31 Aug
Hi Angela - Thank you so much for your support! Yesterday was a really emotional day for me, I spent the whole day crying my heart out, and my poor hubby was out of things to say and do to make me feel better. I ended up at my mums house crying to her and telling her how disgusting I feel, she would just smile and tell me that when the baby comes I wont care anymore, and its a sacrafice we all have to take. You have honestly made me feel so much better. Thank you so much! Your children are so beautiful! I wish you the best in your pregnancy mwa mwa mwa

April K. - Wednesday, 29 Aug
They want to do a c-section because of the way my uterus is cut from my second son and they dont want to risk me going into labor because the contractions can make my uterus rupture and that whouldn't be good.I am very nervous about it but I am happy that this one made it this far and hopefuly further.Take care of your self.
