Finally, Birth Story...

I had our newest edition, Sadie Alisabeth, on October 13th. She shares her birthday with big sis Allyssa and they are exactly 4 years apart. I didn't plan it this way. At one in the morning I woke up to a very mild contraction. I couldn't believe it. I was not due until the 18th and what are the odds of having 2 children with the same birthday. The contractions were about 15 minutes apart until about 6 in the morning. They started to get stronger and longer, so off to the hospital we went. We were admitted around 7:30. I was already dialated past 5cm and the contractions were around 2 to 5 minutes apart. I caved and got the epidural. I couldn't believe how bad the pain was. I had an epi with my son, but not with our first daughter. It wasn't that bad and I was hoping to go natural again. Allyssa weighed 7lbs 9oz and the natural birth was a breeze. Sadie weighed exactly 10lbs and thank God for the Epidural. Her being 10lbs explains alot in the pain department. Anyway, I got the epidural and they sneaked in a relaxer, which made me very sick to my stomach. So I laid there, not feeling any contractions or anything until about 1:30 in the afternoon. I had the biggest urge to push. About 5 good pushes and Sadie was born, at 1:48. She was huge. I did not tear though. They swept her off to the nursery and my family followed, all but my mother-in-law. The doctor, a very little woman, was trying to get the placenta out and it would not budge. She had her arm in there all the way up to her shoulder, for over 45 min. She was getting ready to do a DNC when it finally decided to come out. It was huge too. I lost 16lbs on that day. We are all home now and doing fine. I am so glad that is over and I can enjoy my family again.

Just found out I am pregnant with our 3rd child. Too excited. My son and daughter's b-days are in October, and I am due, yet again, in October:) The above pics are my Husband, Son, and Daughter. My son, Preston, wants a little brother and my daughter, Allyssa, walks around holding her belly saying "baby in there." Our due date is somewhere between October 8 and October 15 of '07.

2-15-07 I went to my first Doctors visit today. They confirmed that I am pregnant (not that 9 positive home pregnacy test didn't give it away). They also drew a gallon of blood and did a full exam. This was my first visit with this Doctor. My other 2 pregnancies where with a doctor that has since relocated. I will go on March first for an ultrasound. I cannot wait. It will give me a more precise due date. I have a 35 day cycle, so we do not know when I ovulated, hence the due week of October 8 thru 15. So far, So Good :)

March 2, 2007 I had my first Ultra Sound yesterday. Everything went great. We heard the Heart Beat and the measurements put me at 7 weeks pregnant. My new due date is October 18th. That is exactly 5 days after my daughters birthday (13th) and 5 days before my sons birthday (23). We have started to remodel our upstairs so that my son can move up there and free up a room for a nursery. He seems excited about it, but he is young. I think he may bunk in his sister's room or sneak on the couch at night. He is helping us decide on the colors for his new room and bathroom. He is hoping for a baby brother, so he is still holding out for bunk beds:)

The baby is in the little black sack up top. It is hard to see, but there are 2 white x's that mark the baby in the sack. "Itty bitty living space."

March 29, 2007 I had a doctor's appointment today. We heard the heart beat with a rate of 160bpm. I have gained a total of 5lbs and everything is looking good.

5-3-07 I had a doctor's appointment today. Nothing too interesting happened. We waited for almost an hour to hear the baby's heart beat and get my blood taken (again). We get our ultra sound on the 24th and then see the doctor again on the 31st. :) I have gained 8 lbs so far.

5-24-07 It's a Girl. Or so the ultrasound says. She was bouncing all over the place, so it was hard to get a really good shot of the gender, but the ultrasound tech said she had been looking thoughout the scan and is pretty sure it is a Girl. My son cannot say girl, so he has been telling everyone we are having a baby ghoul. Looks like all the predictions were right (except the Chinese chart).

July 7, 2007

Hey. I haven't been online in a while. I spent the 4th in the hospital. And as if that is not bad enough, we were out of town on vacation. I started bleeding really bad and was contracting something horrible. Turns out I have a terrible bladder infection and the bladder spasms could have sent me into preterm labor, Yikes. All the blood was coming from my bladder. They tested my panties for amniotic fluid and it came back positive. I was freaking out. We got to spend the whole day admitted in a strange hospital. I was the only person on the labor/delivery floor. My husband was not taking it all too well, especially when they wheeled in a baby incubator and delivery stuff. They were able to stop most of my bleeding and pumped me full of antibiotics and pain killers for the rest of the day. The amniotic fluid turned out to be false positive, it was picking up the blood in my panties from the urine (no bladder control what so ever). They wanted to keep me over night. It was our last day on vacation, and every hotel/resort was totally booked up. The hospital really did not have room for both my kids and my husband to sleep there. So they said I could leave if the bleeding slowed and the baby was not in any stress. She was hooked up to a monitor all day and we got another ultrasound to be sure my placenta was still in place and my amniotic fluid was holding. The only good part of the day was seeing her face up close and watching her blink. She looks just like our older daughter and weighs 2 1/2 lbs already. I gained 12 lbs in two days, due to all the swelling, and am now starting to feel alot better. I am home now and the bleeding has stopped. The infection is still there, but it is so much better (thanks to the antibiotics). I do not feel like I am peeing lava anymore and my doctor checked me out today and all is well again. I had never had a bladder infection before and was stunned to learn that's what was wrong. I have been drinking a gallon of water every 2 days, but it was not enough to keep my bladder flushed. Hope everyones 4th was better than mine.

August 30, 2007

I had a doctor's appointment today. He checked my cervix and said the outside is open (100% effaced) and the inside is still closed. I can start to dialate at any time now. The babies head is down, so that explains all the pressure I have been feeling. I go on the 31st for a leg ultra sound, because of swelling. I am sure its nothing, but he thinks it could be clots. I think he is just trying to cover all the bases, I mean, what pregnant women doesn't have some swelling.

September 28, 2007

I had a doctor's appointement today and am dialated to 3cm. He stripped my membranes and now we will just wait and see. I had never had that done before and it really didn't hurt. I had a few contractions throughout the day, but nothing promising. I go back to the doctor next Friday.

October 5, 2007

Back to the doctor today. I am now dialated to 4cm and he stripped my membranes, yet again (really kinda hurt this time). I thought I would be in active labor when at 4cm, but I am lacking in the contractions department. He said I am a ticking timebomb and he doesn't expect me to make it to my next appointment (which is next Friday). We will see.

October 8, 2007

Still no labor. I am beginning to think that stripping the membranes does nothing more than give a very pregnant woman false hope. I have tried everything to bring on the contractions. Nothing is working. The doctor suggested sex, nipple stimulation and of course, the membranes being stripped. None of which have done a thing. I have read about spicey food, Raspberry Leaf tea and countless other things to eat to bring on labor and none of those do anything either. I have had one person tell me to suck on my thumb and another to just envision labor will begin. The only thing I have not tried is Castor Oil, which I would never take. So this is where I am. I am dialated to 4cm, 100 % effaced, the baby is head down and I am sucking on my thumb and envisioning labor. Pathetic.

October 12, 2007

Had another Doctor's appointment today. I am dialated to 4.5cm and he stripped my membranes for a 3rd time. I am suddenly very sick feeling and anxious. I took a Phenergan and am hoping it will make me feel better. My next appointment is next Thursday, but I am hoping Sadie will be here by then.

Hi Angela! I know what you mean. Hearing about everyone elses' baby kicks makes me worry more and more that its not happening for me. Like you, a few weeks ago I thought I felt her do a flip in my belly. But since, nothing. To reassure myself I bought a stethoscope off of amazon. That way, I can reassure myself with the heartbeat whenever I want! Hang in there and hopefully it will happen for us soon!!

Angela, You may want to try getting a materniyt pillow. I ordered one from JC Penny & it works wonder's. They also have a maternity pillow called wedge that will stop you from rolling over on your back in the middle of the night w/o being aware, that help a lot as well.

Hello It's just me again. I hope wherever you and the family decide to go for vacation you have a wonderful time. Being big don't mean we still can't squeeze in those two pieces, or maybe we should try a whole piece, and still be sexy. Another thing that I can relate to you on is the emotional part of all this. Girl when I first got pregnant I was the same way. That is with my first child. I just was crying cause I didn't know what the hell to do about it all. But my mother cured all that. And you know something? Talking to me, you won't have to worry about me dragging one situation in the ground because I love hearing and sharing new stories. So talk away. Love Tabitha!

Hi Angela, How are you feeling today? Has that little one made his debut kick for the day? Well don't worry if everything checks out fine with your doctor, he/she is just being a little on the lazy side. I would be thinking too, Well Mommy is doing all the work I am going to relax. I haven't found out what I am having yet but I won't wish for either because when I do I always seem to get the opposite. I hope all goes well with your Vacation but girl you need to take it to the Bahamas or Jamaica. I haven't been to either but I heard they are beautiful. I can't say much about Louisiana. This is my home but we don't have much of the vacation sites that you would see all over the world. So far things are looking up for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I was blessed not to be in the area but just seeing it made it hard on all of us. i live in Baton Rouge so we only got hard rain and all the aftermath. So we were Blessed. Until we talk again I wish you the best and I will keep you posted on what I'm having. Love Tabitha

I don't know if I asked you this before but what time is it there now? it's 4:20pm here

Rebecca24 - Saturday, 19 May
I haven't got that dark line yet, i had it quite early last time, my nipples have darlened and I have gone up a bra size too, I also have stretch marks so far no new ones in this pregnancy but get the feeling i'm not going to escape I hate them! and once the baby is born your stomach is never the same again I hate it, my husband say's all i ever go on about is myself but only because I feel so ugly and he has no idea what it's like to change so much i know if it was him it would be a different story. I might check ebay fr some clothes too, I thought it would be a good idea to be pregnant in summer so can wear jumpers and more clothes in winter with that post pregnancy buldge and hopefully be better for next summer I thought there would be more nicer things to wear in summer while pregnant but now i'm starting to think not, I will be glad in winter when i can cover up just doesn't help now, lots of people look great while pregnant I don't, plus the extra water retention because of the heat this summer I am dreading too last time i looked like a puffer fish because it was so hot just before I had Thomas which was in July so i'm dreading what will happen this time, the summer is going to be a killer don't you think? I bet your summer is much much hotter than ours though, poor you.

Bek 30 - Thursday, 17 May
Hi Angela, We seem to be having the same symptom's, I feel so sorry for you. I didn't have anything in my last pregnancy, it was a breeze. I find out on the 23rd May I hope, as long as baby isn't shy. I feel as though I am having a girl, but now I have said that, it will defintly be a boy, as long as all is healthy I don't mind. I just got back from a check up and the midwife reckons my baby likes to party, it has such a strong heartbeat, I have felt it move a lot, but everytime hubby or my son touches it, it stops, and I have the feet under my ribs most of the time, I guess it likes to stretch while it has the space. When did you feel the last 2 start to move. Prehaps this time you have one that likes to sleep while ure awake and party while ure asleep..lol, I wish my'n would! I'll be in the middle of a meeting and this one likes to move. Also I have bad mornning sickness, to the stage I get my son to school an hour late most mornings... they r not impressed with me one bit, but to bad. I hope ure dizziness goes away soon, their is nothing worse, especially when ure home alone and not sure what will happen. Tonight has been the first night in 2 weeks that I have been able to cook dinner, but I still couldn't eat it, the midwife said it is ok though as I am drinking plenty. As far as salt is concerned, I loved it on everything, but only if it was chicken salt, I would even put it on my sandwiches... disgusting now I look back at it. I wonder if that will mean our babies will hate salt?..lol. Well I hope to hear from soon, take care and I pray that bub will start somersaulting for u very soon. I'll let you know what I am having! I'll also be doing the 4d ultrasound in a couple of weeks.

Bek 30 - Wednesday, 16 May
Hi how r u? I just read your comment on ash's page about u being dizzy. I have had it also, to the point where I have to hold the nearest thing near me, and I also taught my son how to dial 000 for an ambulance. I found eating crackers every few hours throughout the day really did help, as for the salt I don't think that is a factor as the only crackers I eat has salt on them and my dizziness has stopped, although now I am drinking more then a horse in a 24hr day. I hope this may help, their is nothing worse then spending ure day not knowing if ure going to pass out. Cheers Bek

laura mc - Wednesday, 16 May
