Finally, Birth Story...

I had our newest edition, Sadie Alisabeth, on October 13th. She shares her birthday with big sis Allyssa and they are exactly 4 years apart. I didn't plan it this way. At one in the morning I woke up to a very mild contraction. I couldn't believe it. I was not due until the 18th and what are the odds of having 2 children with the same birthday. The contractions were about 15 minutes apart until about 6 in the morning. They started to get stronger and longer, so off to the hospital we went. We were admitted around 7:30. I was already dialated past 5cm and the contractions were around 2 to 5 minutes apart. I caved and got the epidural. I couldn't believe how bad the pain was. I had an epi with my son, but not with our first daughter. It wasn't that bad and I was hoping to go natural again. Allyssa weighed 7lbs 9oz and the natural birth was a breeze. Sadie weighed exactly 10lbs and thank God for the Epidural. Her being 10lbs explains alot in the pain department. Anyway, I got the epidural and they sneaked in a relaxer, which made me very sick to my stomach. So I laid there, not feeling any contractions or anything until about 1:30 in the afternoon. I had the biggest urge to push. About 5 good pushes and Sadie was born, at 1:48. She was huge. I did not tear though. They swept her off to the nursery and my family followed, all but my mother-in-law. The doctor, a very little woman, was trying to get the placenta out and it would not budge. She had her arm in there all the way up to her shoulder, for over 45 min. She was getting ready to do a DNC when it finally decided to come out. It was huge too. I lost 16lbs on that day. We are all home now and doing fine. I am so glad that is over and I can enjoy my family again.

Just found out I am pregnant with our 3rd child. Too excited. My son and daughter's b-days are in October, and I am due, yet again, in October:) The above pics are my Husband, Son, and Daughter. My son, Preston, wants a little brother and my daughter, Allyssa, walks around holding her belly saying "baby in there." Our due date is somewhere between October 8 and October 15 of '07.

2-15-07 I went to my first Doctors visit today. They confirmed that I am pregnant (not that 9 positive home pregnacy test didn't give it away). They also drew a gallon of blood and did a full exam. This was my first visit with this Doctor. My other 2 pregnancies where with a doctor that has since relocated. I will go on March first for an ultrasound. I cannot wait. It will give me a more precise due date. I have a 35 day cycle, so we do not know when I ovulated, hence the due week of October 8 thru 15. So far, So Good :)

March 2, 2007 I had my first Ultra Sound yesterday. Everything went great. We heard the Heart Beat and the measurements put me at 7 weeks pregnant. My new due date is October 18th. That is exactly 5 days after my daughters birthday (13th) and 5 days before my sons birthday (23). We have started to remodel our upstairs so that my son can move up there and free up a room for a nursery. He seems excited about it, but he is young. I think he may bunk in his sister's room or sneak on the couch at night. He is helping us decide on the colors for his new room and bathroom. He is hoping for a baby brother, so he is still holding out for bunk beds:)

The baby is in the little black sack up top. It is hard to see, but there are 2 white x's that mark the baby in the sack. "Itty bitty living space."

March 29, 2007 I had a doctor's appointment today. We heard the heart beat with a rate of 160bpm. I have gained a total of 5lbs and everything is looking good.

5-3-07 I had a doctor's appointment today. Nothing too interesting happened. We waited for almost an hour to hear the baby's heart beat and get my blood taken (again). We get our ultra sound on the 24th and then see the doctor again on the 31st. :) I have gained 8 lbs so far.

5-24-07 It's a Girl. Or so the ultrasound says. She was bouncing all over the place, so it was hard to get a really good shot of the gender, but the ultrasound tech said she had been looking thoughout the scan and is pretty sure it is a Girl. My son cannot say girl, so he has been telling everyone we are having a baby ghoul. Looks like all the predictions were right (except the Chinese chart).

July 7, 2007

Hey. I haven't been online in a while. I spent the 4th in the hospital. And as if that is not bad enough, we were out of town on vacation. I started bleeding really bad and was contracting something horrible. Turns out I have a terrible bladder infection and the bladder spasms could have sent me into preterm labor, Yikes. All the blood was coming from my bladder. They tested my panties for amniotic fluid and it came back positive. I was freaking out. We got to spend the whole day admitted in a strange hospital. I was the only person on the labor/delivery floor. My husband was not taking it all too well, especially when they wheeled in a baby incubator and delivery stuff. They were able to stop most of my bleeding and pumped me full of antibiotics and pain killers for the rest of the day. The amniotic fluid turned out to be false positive, it was picking up the blood in my panties from the urine (no bladder control what so ever). They wanted to keep me over night. It was our last day on vacation, and every hotel/resort was totally booked up. The hospital really did not have room for both my kids and my husband to sleep there. So they said I could leave if the bleeding slowed and the baby was not in any stress. She was hooked up to a monitor all day and we got another ultrasound to be sure my placenta was still in place and my amniotic fluid was holding. The only good part of the day was seeing her face up close and watching her blink. She looks just like our older daughter and weighs 2 1/2 lbs already. I gained 12 lbs in two days, due to all the swelling, and am now starting to feel alot better. I am home now and the bleeding has stopped. The infection is still there, but it is so much better (thanks to the antibiotics). I do not feel like I am peeing lava anymore and my doctor checked me out today and all is well again. I had never had a bladder infection before and was stunned to learn that's what was wrong. I have been drinking a gallon of water every 2 days, but it was not enough to keep my bladder flushed. Hope everyones 4th was better than mine.

August 30, 2007

I had a doctor's appointment today. He checked my cervix and said the outside is open (100% effaced) and the inside is still closed. I can start to dialate at any time now. The babies head is down, so that explains all the pressure I have been feeling. I go on the 31st for a leg ultra sound, because of swelling. I am sure its nothing, but he thinks it could be clots. I think he is just trying to cover all the bases, I mean, what pregnant women doesn't have some swelling.

September 28, 2007

I had a doctor's appointement today and am dialated to 3cm. He stripped my membranes and now we will just wait and see. I had never had that done before and it really didn't hurt. I had a few contractions throughout the day, but nothing promising. I go back to the doctor next Friday.

October 5, 2007

Back to the doctor today. I am now dialated to 4cm and he stripped my membranes, yet again (really kinda hurt this time). I thought I would be in active labor when at 4cm, but I am lacking in the contractions department. He said I am a ticking timebomb and he doesn't expect me to make it to my next appointment (which is next Friday). We will see.

October 8, 2007

Still no labor. I am beginning to think that stripping the membranes does nothing more than give a very pregnant woman false hope. I have tried everything to bring on the contractions. Nothing is working. The doctor suggested sex, nipple stimulation and of course, the membranes being stripped. None of which have done a thing. I have read about spicey food, Raspberry Leaf tea and countless other things to eat to bring on labor and none of those do anything either. I have had one person tell me to suck on my thumb and another to just envision labor will begin. The only thing I have not tried is Castor Oil, which I would never take. So this is where I am. I am dialated to 4cm, 100 % effaced, the baby is head down and I am sucking on my thumb and envisioning labor. Pathetic.

October 12, 2007

Had another Doctor's appointment today. I am dialated to 4.5cm and he stripped my membranes for a 3rd time. I am suddenly very sick feeling and anxious. I took a Phenergan and am hoping it will make me feel better. My next appointment is next Thursday, but I am hoping Sadie will be here by then.

Ye i hope so too, I think i'm really going to have to think hard about an epidural then I just know I will tear or they will have to cut me your boy was big wasn't he Thomas was 8lb 10 i'm not sure i'll be allowed to give birth if this one is going to be bigger because of my scar, i know i'll really want an epidural at the time but also know that I will be glad after if i don't like you, i'll have top think long and hard I wish they could be delivered by the stalk! my son thinks they just fall oit when their ready if only! it's easy getting them in there it's getting them out that's the problem. I read through weeks ahead too when I'm bored I wish I was in those weeks sometimes, the girl next door only has 6 weeks left and a woman in work has 3 and half weeks left and I feel jelous sometimes because i know they will have them soon and I'll still have forever left

I had a C section because the naughty boy was breech, I know I don't know what it's like to give birth but i am really hoping I don't have to have a Cesarean again, I hated it, I did have 6 hours of labour 1st and thought I couldn't cope with more but from my experience of a cesarean I never want one again. My scar didn't haeal for weeks and came open after 6 and i had to have butterfly stitches, i couldn't walk properly for a week the pain was so unbearable I had to ask everyone not to make me laugh it was a joke it also is still quite red not a nice whait line that everyone else seems to have and was itchy for about 2 years after I just felt like it was never ending, and I hate the thought of having one agian, I have to see a consultant in 6 weeks so they can monitor me and decide if i'm allowed to give birth naturally as long as everything ok, it depends on the size of the baby and my scar, they say if i am allowed to try they will have to watch me because in rare cases the scar and rupture and then i will have to be rushed to theatre, so i'm a bit stressed out about it all i know still have 22 weeks left or 20 if this one is as early as thomas he was 2 weeks early but i still can't stop thinking about it, i was one of the unlucky ones I think, makes me wonder though how would I heal if i had a majour operation one day like heart surgery what if that won't heal properly silly I know but still worries me. Do you think epidural is best then? i'm worried about having a assisted birth or not being able to feel enough to push properly?

hiya hope u r well? how cool is that having all ur kids in one month. my daughters is new years eve so its stressful finacially cos of xmas & everyone else is in december aswell. im hoping for a boy this time but a girl would be nice aswell as long as its healthy i dont care either way. the hospital has brought this policy of not telling u the sex of ur baby incase they r wrong cos u can sue them for it. i hate waiting to find out im thinking of paying for a private scan so i can find out. i think its another girl but m not 100% so i dont want to buy anything pink. what r u hoping for? xxxx

Hi, your message made me laugh yesterday! I read it out to my mate in work and she was laughing too, it is so true though, I'v spoken to him told him I had made a dessision that i was going to find out and he didn't have to but he wasn't impressed said he couldn't stop me finding out but it would spoil the suprise then and wouldn't be the same! I know what he means and i know that on the day a suprise would be great but it's so far away I just want to know. I am going to breast feed but only for the 1st month, i did with Thomas but only for a month because I wasn't making enough milk and it was killing having him just above where I had my cesarean, as long as they get the colostrum to begine with i'm happy, I'll see how my milk goes this time and if i have a cesarean aging before deciding how long I will do it for. How are you anyway??

I too get close to passing out from the dizziness! Its horrible. Sometimes I just want to take a bath to relax but the hot water makes me even dizzier! Even when I'm not hot I need the fan on for fresh air so that I don't faint!

chilipop - Sunday, 13 May
Hi I'm Karen. Just wanted to say congratulations on your baby.I see your from Tennessee. I am from Chattanooga but live in Louisiana now. I too was having trouble finding clothes and went to some plus size areas. You can find some really cute things for a good price. I loaded up at Catos. The styles are maternity geared with the little tie backs and plenty of room for a growing tummy. I got a few things from Motherhood but had a hard time finding things that allowed growing breast room. Some of that stuff I think is geared for small women. Hope this helps.

HEY THERE, CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW BABY TO BE... STRIPPING THE MEMBRANES IS WHERE THEY INSERT A FINGER BETWEEN THE MEMBRANES AND THE WALL OF THE UTERUS TO LOOSEN THE MEMBRANES FROM THE UTERUS WALL. THEY DO THIS IN A CIRCULAR MOTION. SOMETIMES IT KICKS LABOR INTO GEAR AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T WORK. I AM HOPING THAT IT WILL WORK FOR ME! IF YOU GOOGLE STRIPPING MEMBRANES IT WILL GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION ON IT. SOME DOCTORS AGREE WITH IT AND SOME DO NOT. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Rebecca24 - Monday, 7 May
Hi glad to hear yourdaughter is coming along better now, i'm sure she will be fine yu know we all develop at different stages, hope the new doctor you see will help you more! I don't think peolpe here are so touchy feely they coment alot and feel just because your pregnant they have to talk to you, the older ones mainly, although in my last job and my 1st pregnancy my boss used to feel my tummy every day! didn't mind sometimes but can get anoying! I would have been a bit freaked out if a old lady put her hand on my tummy too! wierdo! bet you didn't know what to do! my tummy gets really itchy too I find that Bio Oil is really good I don't know if you have that there?? if not just lots and olts of moisturiser ones with oil in are the best, and yes I do have quite a bump! have done since about 12 weeks! was really worried I was getting too big too quick! but I think it's ok everyone was comenting on it weeks ago, but actually even now they think its big!

Rebecca24 - Sunday, 6 May

Hi, you were addicted to nasal spray! i'v never heard of that before! made me smile a bit! gald your over it, I actually hate salt, only like a bit on chips, I don't think I'v got cravings yet last time it eas ice all fruit juices and as much ice Is I could, I used to crush it into bottles if I was going out, and because ice was too watery in milksahke I actually froze milk in ice cube trays into milk cubes! I was really proud of that! silly I know but it was all I could think of i'm looking forward to having new cravings or i might get the same again.

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 1 May
Hi how are you? how's your daughter now? have you got an appointment for operation yet? Hope your well!

First Time Momma - Thursday, 26 Apr
Hey woman! How is everyone at your household? I hope that your little one is feeling O.K.! No, sorry, I just don't know a lot about ear stuff! I know that that is somewhat common though, as far as inner/middle ear inf's, although, I am not informed on the inner/middle ear disease problems. I had an US yesterday, the baby was taking a nap, legs crossed and cord between those! So, I will havew to wait another 4 weeks to check again! You'll have to check out the pics! I just cant believe how much the baby had grown, it was the most AMAZING THING EVER! I swear that I felt the baby move the other night! I was laying in bed, and it felt like someone ran their hand along the inside of my belly, like a flutter. But, I haven't felt it since. Keep me updated! ;o)

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
That's alot of money you have to pay! yes we have pounds here I think though $10 for you is around £6 to £7 (pound) for us! Can't beleive you left your toothbrush in freezer! and had inside out clothes that;s made me laugh! have to go home now so will log on tomorrow have a nice night!

bumblebee06 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
Good luck to u too....

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
Hi, you know what I think pregnancy definantly effects your mind! i just wrote a message to you but saved it on my own page! have deleted it now! I know what you mean about having to keep the house tidy all the time! We do have to pay for Dentist and Opticiann here but is discounted as NHS pay some if you have heard of them? but now i'm pregnant my dental care is free while i'm pregnant and until the baby is 1. It must be so stressfull having unexpected healthcare bills! my friend said she saw on the news that we might have to start paying soon as NHS is in debt! even though we do contribute through our wages in taxes. Do you have to pay for having a baby?

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
Just wondering? where d you live then?

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter! it's a shame you have to find the money to pay for her operation too! in Britain we don't have to unless we go private feel really guilty about that! I hope she will be ok! Me & my husband are having financial problems too now our house is For sale to try to sort it out so know what you mean about finances causeing arguments! I also know what you mean about friends without children, when I had my 1st child not many of them had children and from the moment I was pregnant I felt alone, no one really wanted to know! and the some that now have children bother more now that their in the same boat! it's a bit unfair it's a shame that your friends arn't there for you enough! don't worry though they will one day be in our shoes and then they will see how it feels!

Rebecca24 - Tuesday, 24 Apr
Hi i'm really sorry didn't reply to the message you left for me on friday! I haven't really looked at my vip page propery didn't know how it works! but will check it all the time now, I can only use it at work at the moment because my home computer is having internet problems! I'm glad you replyed men can be so unthoughtful can't they! I said to my Husband the other night why don't you read the father bit in my pregnancy book then you might understand a bit more and he said he doesn't need to because we have one and remembers but obviously not, how is it going with you not mentioning the pregnancy? does it work?

bumblebee06 - Monday, 23 Apr
Congrats!

First Time Momma - Monday, 23 Apr
Hey woman! Just checking in to see how you are feeling this week :o)

JENNIFERREBECCA - Wednesday, 18 Apr
Hi! I had slacked off of getting up to go potty (don't you love the mommy terminology) but now it has started over again it seems I go during the day about every 15 min. I also understand what you mean about all of the weight going to your chest, I am now wearing a DD. I go back to the Dr on April 26. Glad to hear your during well! Talk with you soon. soon.~Jennifer
