Friday, 11 Jan

Well as you know I was sched for induction on Monday the 7th to be induced. I went in to the hospital with Chris at 0830 and was settled into a room by 0900. They then began a CTG of the girls and took my bp. After I was all hooked up to the machines the midwife checked me for dialation and to see if the proticin gel would be needed. I was already at a 1cm but was still not far enough that my water could be broken and Abby `s head was still high up. SO, the 1st gel was inserted and we waited. At about 1500 the midwife returned to check me to see if anything was happening down there. She hooked me up for another CTG, checked my cervix, which there was no change, so she did the 2nd dose of gel. This time it started up some irregular contractions, nothing big, I didn`t even feel them. At about 8PM the midwife advised Chris to go home get some rest and that it looked like nothing was going to happen tonight and that my next dose of gel wouldn`t be till the next morning at 0800. So he left, I was given some codine to slee. The midwife said that if I took the drugs they would allow me to sleep but not through labor, they assured me that labor would wake me. At about 0115, on the 8th now, I woke up having to pee, so I went to the bathroom. I went to the midwife station afterward to let her know that I was some cramping, she asked if it was regular, I said I didn `t think that they were, so I returned to my room at about 0130 and layed down for awhile. I was still having mild cramps and thought that a warm bath would help so I got up at about 0220 and told the midwife that I was having these pains a little stronger now and that I was going to take a bath to see if maybe they would go away. I must have been in the bath all of 3 minutes before I felt a little gush in the tube. So I got up thinking I needed to pee again. As soon as I was out of the tube my water broke, I then had another cramp, not knowing that they were really contractions, a little more painful than the last. then another gush, so I rang for the midwife, I told her what was happening, she grabbed a wheel chair I put on my robe in between contractions and there was still more gushing. she ran me over to labor and delivery, by this time I was contracting every other minute. they thought that the labor would be awhile so they called Chris, said no rush, meanwhile I am telling them that I needed my antibiotics for my GBS and that I wanted an epidural ASAP. They kept saying there was plenty of time, that was until the doc came in 2 minutes later, it`s about 0245 now, and she saw that I was already dialted to a 7. As soon as she was done checking me and they were calling the anthesisolgist I felt the urage to push, they said no it wasn`t time and to just breath but I couldn`t. So I pushed anyway, they all franticly started running around the doc checked me again and said that we need to get to the delivery now. It was now about 0255 and everyone was in a state of panic and rush, nothing was prepared, no drugs, no antibiotics, no CTG machine, the pediatrician was paged, and the doc announced that I was fully dialated! I couldn`t believed it, the anesistioligist said she was so sorry that there was no pain relief now but old fashioned oxygen. At 0258 Chris walked into the delivery room not expecting to see Abby `s head crowning and me being told to push, he hurridly ran over to my side and started asking one of the 10 people in the room what happened and why wasn`t he called sooner, and not but 3 minutes later Abby was pushed into the world, world ready or not she was ;0)It was so amazing, Chris and I were so proud that I had done it all with out any pain relief, and I am the biggest weeny when it comes to pain. They took Abby away to check her over, it was now time for Emmy to come. The contractions started to slow down, and I was able to catch my breath and still ask if there was time for any pain relief for Emmy `s birth, they said no. I thought it would be worth a shot to ask. So anyway, the contractions where dying off, the doc hurried to get an iv drip in me to help get the contractions started back up. Within a minute or so they were back, faster and longer than before, but they didn `t do anything but make me scream. So the doc popped Emmy `s water bag, and waited. The contrations still were not making me want to push and still nothing was making her want to turn from her breech posisition. So I was told I would have to deliver her feet first, the hardest delivery they say it is to do. The doc uped the drip and things happened fast, first a foot came out so the doc had to go and grab the second. Finally I was able to push and it was the longest 2 minutes of pushing in my life. But Emmy was born feet first and I felt they huge wave of relief. It was amazing. Chris and I still can `t believe it all happened the way it did, and in record time for twins. They girls are healthy, I felt absoultly great within hours after. I guess now the hard part of taking care of all my beautiful girls starts. ..>

Congrats on your induce date! They have me scheduled for a c-section on January 11th - I can't wait! When your fluid is low i think they watch you a little closer - they want the babies to have plenty of fluid around them for protection and they practice breathing the fluid in and out - at least that is what my doctor told me. I'm on the higher end of fluid -- I'm not too high where they are concerned but I do have lots of fluid they told me. Anyway, just wanted to say congrats! Are you having boys or girls or 1 of each? I'm having 2 boys.

Hi, I am glad your hospital has a weight requirement. My hospital really sucked. I had just filled out the feedback form and gave them a bunch of low scores..so disappointed, but what can you do? Being 36 weeks or more does wonders for being able to latch on to breast feed...enjoy!

Hello Obaby, I'm sorry that you can relate to the carpal tunnel thing! I just hope that it gets better after the boys arrive- my job requires a lot of computer work and drawing, etc. Yeah, the BH contractions are occurring pretty regularly like that (it's been nearly a week of this now) and the monitors at the hospital agreed with what I though were BH and what weren't. I have what they call 'irritation' in addition to the contractions- this is when my stomach feels firm like a contraction but is soft on the top and without the same pressure I feel during the BH. Several people have told me that this happened to them or someone they knew- I just hope it doesn't continue nonstop until the babies are born- they are not due until Feb 13!! Best wishes!

I am a teacher and when I was getting my BA I had to do a report on Pica, it is a disorder that tricks the brain into craving and wanting to eat none food items. It is common in Pregnant woman for some reason. Just make sure you tell your Dr and if you crave something that may harm your baby just remember it is a pregnancy thing and opt for something else!

I made my flipbook on picturetrail.com
its pretty simple and then it gives you a code to post on your page. then everytime you update picturs it automatically updates your website. Im doing pretty well with weight gain, (or I had been) but the last 2 weeks I havent gained so the doc said if I didnt gain this week I was going to ahve to start drinking shakes and If thats what I have to do I want to find something that taste yummy lol

JessH - Sunday, 16 Dec
what kind of protein shakes do you drink? I dont like drinking things like that but would if I could find something tolerable.

I think we may be delivering during the same week (the last week in December). I was thinking I would go into labor before then, b/c baby A was so low and putting so much pressure on me that I was contracting regulary. Monday night I felt a HUGE movement and knew she flipped. Sure enough, now she is breech and baby B is vertex....argh! If she doesn't flip again it will be a def. c-section. Do you know what position yours are in?

Hi There! Congrats on your twin pregnancy. It sounds like you and I are on the same schedule. A two year old and twins on the way.. all girls. My next u/s is next week.. so I'll definitely let you know if they tell us that there's a boy in there after all. Either way, it's all good. I love the idea of three sisters! :0) Good luck with everything.
