Well I am the mother of a 7 year old and I thought that I was virtually through with ever being pregnant again when Fate had a different idea. In the last year both my son and my husband have decided that we need a baby, but I always shot down their efforts. Well hello Mr. Fate on Thanksgiving 2007 I woke up feeling quesy and bloated and just awful not to mention that my breast were amazingly sore, so I decided to go out and buy a pregnancy test just to prove to my husband who had been saying for days that I was pregnant that in actuality I wasn't. Sike!!!! It was positive. I couldn't believe my eyes, so I sent him out to buy another box of 3. 40 minutes and 3 test later I had the proof PREGNANT (OH MY GOSH). So now that I have had time to adjust I am excited. I had my first doctors appointment last week, but they did not do anything except blood test and schedule me for an appointment on January 29 for my first ultrasound I can not wait.

This baby is a lot different than my first. With the first I was never sick a day the whole pregnancy, I gained 6 pounds (he weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces), I was full-time nursing student and I missed one day of class the day I was in labor, and my labor was 4 hours I pushed 3 times and I had no pain medicine. But this new bundle of joy is making its prescence known. I get really sick if I do not eat something every 4 hours. I have already gained almost 10 pounds and I am only 10 weeks and 4 days and I had to buy maternity clothes because my stomach is not cooperating. I definitely look very pregnant and my husband swears that I am farther along than I think (I was taking birthcontrol pills when I got pregnant.....I missed a few pills here and there) or that it is twins which run in both our families. Both our grandparents had 2 sets of fraternal twins and no one has had any since that time, but I believe (or better yet HOPE ) it is one. I can't wait until the 29th for a confirmation.

Well I had my second appointment today and it went wonderfully. I got an ultrasound of the baby, and to settle my fears there is only one. I am the nurse manager over a high risk pregnancy (antepartum) and GYN floor, and we see the mothers that deliver to early because of some type complication or they loose their babies and miscarry. I have been hesitant to share this pregnancy because of what I see at work everyday, but after seeing my little one I feel more confident that everything is going to be alright. The doctor that I saw today was great, but then again they all are. I admit their patients on my floor all the time, so I can honestly say I trust them. Oh Yeah..... I forgot to mention that I was totally right about my due date the ultrasound confirmed it today. My husband of almost 8 years is going crazy because he really wants to know what the sex of the baby is. I guess he will have to wait and see.
