MAY 10, 2008

Getting closer! I am now on (hopefully) temporary medical leave from work due to low blood pressure, which is at least better than high blood pressure! After a faint at work and a bit of bleeding, I think it is probably good to take some time off - but I am not very good at relaxing. Baby is forcing me, however, and because of that, I will be kinder to my body. I cannot wait to meet the little troublemaker, hopefully in less than 10 weeks! It will be nice to see the little bugger again when they do the ultrasound next week to make sure there is no bleeding in my placenta. One last look in-utero before we meet him/her face-to-face!

Most Hilarious Aspects of Being Pregnant:

  • EVERYONE, regardless of their own weight, feels the need to tactlessly comment on your size - continually! What you say to them: "No, I'm not having sextuplets" or "Actually, I'm not due for three more months." What you want to say to them: "I'm pregnant - what's your excuse?!"
  • One word - HORMONES. Okay, they may not be hilarious to you when they are making you extremely annoyable (I might have just invented that word) or emotional, but looking back, the irrationality seems pretty darn funny!
  • Attempting a bikini wax - this involves a mirror, almost falling over (a lot) and 3-4 times the regular amount of time necessary.
  • Putting socks on - "the dance." That is, when your pelvis doesn't hurt so much that you can't even lift your legs!
  • When your baby is lying on one side and your belly looks completely deformed.
  • Knowing that you're actually peeing for two!
  • When your baby kicks you and makes your jump, and everyone who sees you jump for no apparent reason just thinks you are crazy.
  • Pregnancy brain - all I can say is thank goodness I have that to use as an excuse!
  • to be continued!

MARCH 17, 2008

Four months to go until our due date! This is very exciting; while I know that Tigger probably won't arrive on his/her due date, it is still exciting to see the weeks pass by, watch my tummy grow and feel the little critter bouncing around like - well - Tigger! I am just wondering - what is this going to feel like in ten weeks if the baby is already able to startle me with his/her sudden, powerful movements? I think s/he might punch a hole in me!

I LOVE this second trimester! I have never felt so healthy in my life - tons of energy and motivation, and so happy with everything. That is, when I'm not throwing up or crying for no apparent reason.... Ah, the joys. At any rate, I feel so blessed to be able to experience this. I can't wait to go on maternity leave and devote myself full time to being a mummy!

FEBRUARY 27, 2008

Tomorrow is, theoretically speaking, halfway to meeting our baby! Wow, how amazing. It seems like time went so slow as it has happened, but looking back, it seems so fast! Now I feel the Karate Kid moving around and banging on me often - it always makes me smile. It seems like yesterday when I was telling people about the microscopic shrimp-baby mouse cross that was growing inside me. Now the critter is 6 inches and more than half a pound!

I am so excited - to meet our baby, to get to know it, to learn who it is and why it is here. I am excited to see what it likes and dislikes. I am excited to see recognition and love in its eyes when it looks at me. I am excited to watch my husband as he learns how to be a father - and I know that he will be an amazing one! I am excited to learn what it is to be a mother, how it changes my priorities even more than it already has, how it changes me in ways I can't yet imagine.

Oh yes, these are exciting times! Love and luck, as always, to you and yours!

IN THE BEGINNING....

Hello, fellow pregos and trying-to-be-pregos! I am a 25-year-old Accounts Manager with a wonderful and supportive new-ish husband. We were preparing to prepare to have a child... but apparently one was very determined to sneak in a little early, so here we are! I absolutely knew I was on November 7 - I had pain that was different from any that I had ever known and I felt... pregnant. By the next morning, I was sure that I was wrong (although I had dreamed of children that night) but it was the day I was supposed to get my period and it hadn't show up yet so I figured I'd take a test just to make sure I could down some wine that evening with friends at a get-together. I have done so many of those tests because I have a crazily irregular cycle and I would become concerned after a while of period no-show. The little blue line that tells me the test is working showed up... and then a faint cross. I could not believe it! It almost looked like a shadow. So I hopped in the shower and when I got out, sure enough, there was the cross; a positive pregnancy test.

So I woke my husband up (he had only gotten home from work a few hours earlier) and gave him the exciting news, then headed off to work. I stopped in, then proceeded to a walk-in clinic, where I had a negative urine test. The doctor decided to send me for a blood test and there it was - positive confirmation that I am going to by a mummy!

We are so very excited. The same day that we found out we closed a deal on a house, so we will have a new house for our new bambino, too.

These are happy times! Love and luck to us all!

YEAH strict bed rest now! Meds every 4 hours even in the middle of the night. When I need something like food, I call my husband on his cell phone, even though he is in the living room because he doesn't want me to get up only for the bathroom. I go tomorrow for my second steroid shot. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it ;)

I have the same pain on the left inner part of my thigh. My doctor said the pain is caused by the position of the baby and it is totally normal. When mine hurts I have to use my hands to pick my leg up if I want to sit with my legs crossed because there is no way my leg will lift itself it hurts way too bad!

Ha! Photo update? *lol* That was hard enough for me to put up. I'm so sick of everyone telling me how chubby my cheeks are. YES! I KNOW! :o) I can't wait to be in my 3rd trimester. Few more days! I am so tired all the time too. Justy has been a lot better. She talks to him now and talks about when he'll be here and stuff. It's getting better! You look awesome in your pic! Adorable! Take care! Keep in touch! *HUGS* Oh, and it was snowing here yesterday, but supposed to warm up again today! YAY!

Hello! Thanks for the comment. We are having a boy and he makes boy #3. We are naming him Aiden Cash, but will call him Cash. My BH have gotten worse and I have an appointment next Thursday the 17th. I don't even do anything, and I get contractions. I had to go to Wal Mart last night because my sister ordered something from the registry and I had to pick it up. That trip there just made things worse. The walking just brought them on and then on the way home my husband looked through the rear view mirror and said Oh no, that guy is going to wreck. So I look through my mirror and the truck behind us was going maybe 80-90 mph and swerved off the road at the high speed and then he comes back on the road and is all over the place. He then is on our bumper swerving everywhere. My husband tried to slow him down in case he was just sleepy, but then he passed us and he was driving in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic. I then started having contractions and they got bad. The guy seemed to be drunk or on something because when he passed us, he looked like he was in a daze, like he didn't care. I called 911 and we were behind him because we were headed the same direction. The Sheriff pulled him over because even when the Sheriff got behind him, he was driving crazy. It was all too much for me. We had our youngest in the car and then me pregnant made it bad. I was just shaking and so scared he was going to kill someone or us. So I came home and got in bed and was still shaking. It was all so crazy. Just anything makes my BH come on strong and that sure did last night. I just try to take it easy, but just hurt. I should go to the hospital, but they will just send me home, so I will take it easy and wait for my appointment. Well thanks for listening--I know I wrote a lot, but I needed to get that off my chest.

I seen your comment about getting laid off because your pregnant. I don't know what state your in, but in California there is laws that protect you while you are pregnant. If I had a letter that stated I was laid off due to my situation, I would definately call the nearest maternity attorney-its called discrimination, and now that your pregnant your a protected class. Check your with your state laws on discrimination and pregnancy for where you live.

We were married July 14th and didin't really plan for the due date to be on the same date one year later. I thought that was cool. The ultrasound said that I am a few days ahead according to the size of the baby. (It's weird how they can figure that seeing as how babies grow and develope so differenlty). So I don't think I'll go all the way to the 14th but I guess we'll find out. So far things have gone well, besides the normal discomforts. I think heartburn has been the worst thing. I had it with my other two as well so I knew it was coming. I eat Tums religiously. How are things with you?

Aerykat - Friday, 4 April
No, I can't believe we are almost in our 3rd trimester. Seems to be flying by. I can't wait to meet this lil' guy though! :o) How you been, besides exhausted? Sucks not being able to sleep, huh! I hate it, but I think i'm getting used to it. Atleast spring is here, now if it'd only warm up a bit more and everything started turning green I'd be one happy lady! Hope you have a great Friday and weekend! *HUGS*

I went to bed freezing and woke up sweating. Is that night sweat? Just where you sweat at night? I never experienced this during my first trimester?

sonyasfirstbaby - Friday, 28 Mar
Yeah...love the photo. I was just looking at some places that do Maternity Photos. I want to get mine done too.
My pregnancy has been very good to me.....i've been lucky compared to some of the girls I work with. Hubby says time is flying bye and I say it's going slllow. I want July to be here now!!
Do you go on www.babycenter.ca? They have a great British Columbia forum. All the Best!

3sugarbears - Friday, 28 Mar
Your beautiful by the way

3sugarbears - Friday, 28 Mar
Honestly....I'm not sure my hormones have settled at all. They say that they should be more level now but for me it's not that way. Your not alone.

peaceful1013 - Friday, 28 Mar
Ya know, when I was pregnant with my first, I went from 105 pounds to 171! I was HUGE!!! My baby was born the normal 7 1/2 pounds and actually a little on the short side at 18 1/2 inches. Don't worry about what everybody else says. You will learn that as you are pregnant everybody feels they have the right to express thier opinion about anything.

JennSever - Thursday, 27 Mar
orgasm !!!oh aren't those great!! its been so long i feel like a virgin again:)

JennSever - Thursday, 27 Mar
don't worry too much unless its accompanied by back pain. i just got back from my ob and she said that a few here and there is normal. if you pick up your drinking then they should diminish. good luck...jenn

Aerykat - Tuesday, 25 Mar
awwww...you look awesome. It was probably dark outside when I looked at the picture so you wouldn't be able to see your siloette! :o) Ha ha...i'm so funny. Emril is a cute name...BAM! HA HA! I love food network! I am so very very sore tonight, and I don't know if is from the jog I had earlier or from playing some softball yesterday. Who knows? All I know is i'm ready for bed, and i'm gonna take it easy tomorrow. Hope you had a great day! *HUGS*

Aerykat - Monday, 24 Mar
I just see black! Did you go invisible or what? Sad...:o( Have a great week!

sarahj82 - Friday, 21 Mar
I get that too, your just getting so big, like I don't already know. I can't see below my belly...lol Trust me when he kicks you will know right away it takes my breath sometimes. You must be from England with words like deck and puggier..lol I lived there for 5 years, my parents still live there actually so I go every year to visit. I was going to go next month but it is $1,400 a person and I paid that last year for 2 people. So I am going to wait when she comes here when the baby is born. Good luck to you and your baby boy.

Aerykat - Thursday, 20 Mar

sonyasfirstbaby - Wednesday, 19 Mar
My best friend keeps saying that I look so big for only 5+ months. She points it out to everyone!! And she's my best friend!! It's annoying, I feel your feelings!
