Ok, one I am not pumping for an hour and neither should you!! I pumped for 20 min and my nipples got really sore. I read this website this afternoon. I am going to try oatmeal and the other suggestions here. I bought the mothers tea so I will try it this weekend to increase my supply.

http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/pumping_decrease.html

Yes it takes time and patience. Honestly, I think you should still bf from the breast. I know that Rod wants her to take the bottle, believe me I so want her to take a bottle more easily. But I am not willing to sacrifice this time. And I do not think you want to either (maybe i am wrong?) Because Reagan does take a bottle in daycare and when you are not around. But when you are home and you want to stick her on the 'teet' then you should. It will also let your supply increase. Pumping exclusively is time and energy consuming. You can pump at work for the next day and bf at home, supplement with formula when you are out. Besides bf gives mothers a relaxing feeling, there is research proving it ..tell that to rod. Tell him you will be a lot nicer..

I do not want to make you feel bad. Do not get stressed over how much you are producing it makes it low. You do not need to over do it. Drink your water, take your pill, eat healthy, pump every three hours for about 15-20 minutes, and have faith. I read that pumping is not as efficient as a baby so our girls are definitely getting enough.

Sorry I am so late getting back to you. You place the rubber on the strap you do like a figure 8 and attach the open end to the breast shield. See the website.

I've only been on it now for two days but I think I can already tell a difference. I pumped 10 ounces this afternoon, but of course I wasn't able to nurse Tristan at noon because when I got to the daycare he'd already eaten and was falling asleep. He did want to latch onto the nipple for comfort... so I let him for both of our emotional connection and stimulation.

When my supply was really low they (lacatation consultants) had me do the marathon pumping (which I couldn't keep up doing eventhough it was only twice a day... like I have an hour twice a day to sit with the pump attached when I have 5 children).

The other thing they had me do was eat oatmeal, any kind was fine so I could have instant, cookies, cereal bars... just so long as there was oats.

I had to increase my water intake (this really helps). One lady I spoke to said she would drink a gallon a day and that brought hers up. Now, I'm really bad about drinking WATER (I'll drink tea or other things but not water) so once I started drinking at least 6 glasses of water I did find an increase in my supply.

I took a combination Fenugreek/Blessed Thistle and that helped, but it was expensive ($35 for 120 capusules... I had to take 6 a day). The Regalen was only $1 for a month supply, and if I didn't have insurance it was still only $14.

For the most part (except evenings and nights) I have a supply enough to nurse Tristan, but not enough to pump any extra and at times he's frustrated because there isn't enough for him. When I get tired my body doesn't produce well and won't let down. Now the hubby takes care of ALL the feedings and care needs at least one night a week so I can get some rest. That helps A LOT!Tristan hates taking the bottle but he loves how much milk I produce the next couple of days!

You're probably right that being so far out from delivery has an affect. I'm only 9 weeks and I've been nursing the entire time... but I figure if they can get a milk supply to occur in adoptive mom's to nurse their adoptive child then surely they can jump start us post delivery women to have a better supply.

Girl, I applied for two jobs today, this takes a lot of work. I am sorry that you are not pumping alot. Try to pump from one breast while feeding on the other. I use a rubber band to hold the pump in place. I am going to start doing that again. Apparently that is supposed to improve supply.

roseplus1 - Thursday, 2 October
Yeah, I only pumped twice today but I have four oz so far today. I am going to pump again now. I am going to try to find some mother tea today.

I am proud that you pumped twice today. I know that you are trying hard.

DianaBanana - Thursday, 2 October

mommy2dallas - Thursday, 2 October
Thanks!!

roseplus1 - Thursday, 2 October
I still try to pump every three hours. However, I am too lazy to get up at night. But I might have to tonight since I am only at three oz, and she does not take formula. Hopefully my supply is slowly coming back. I am going to try to buy the mothers tea today. Did you ever take the pill? If so did it work?

How's being a working mommy going? Life has been hectic since Ike hit. I have 11 family members living me! It's crazy. I didn't want to go back to work SO bad and NOW I have no job atleast until January... funny how things work out. I'm really not complaining. I'm loving the time with my son.

mommy2dallas - Thursday, 2 October
Well, he stayed asleep until 1 am. I tried to make him go back to sleep and at 2:45 I realized it wasn't going to happen. I gave him the bottle, he drank 5 oz and went back to sleep. He slept soundly until 6 and then off and on until about 9 am. I don't think he is ready to drop that middle of the night feeding so I am not going to make him. We just need to work on him staying asleep after the feeding. If I would have fed him when he woke up at 1 am he would have been up again at 4. I don't know how to fix that. He has consistantly increased the amount of sleep time after his bedtime bottle. He has gone from 3 to 4 to 5 hours on his own. I guess he will sleep more when he is ready. I don't know. Motherhood is soooo confusing. It makes me question myself more than I ever have before.

How's the Regalen doing now? I spoke with my doctor and the lactation consultants. I went ahead and started on the meds yesterday. I was paying $35 for a 20 day supply of herbals... Regalen cost me $1 for a month supply... go figure.

roseplus1 - Thursday, 2 October
I am waiting until after I pump at 930 to go back to sleep. Yesterday I only pumped 1 oz total. I lost 3 pounds in 1 day...my poor baby has to have frozen milk these last couple of days. Hopefully we do not run out. I am trying to eat.

I think me and lizzy may be going to target after I pick her up. I have not money but I can scrounge up some for clearance.

roseplus1 - Thursday, 2 October
I am feeling much better from Tuesday, but decided that my body needed rest so I took today off. The doctor pretty much told me rest and fluids. I am just glad that my job has unlimited sick leave. I swear there has to be something related to me giving birth, I have never been this sick so much in my life and I am not exaggerating.I just hope they do not fire me before I quit in three months....

I am very proud of you, only $30. Are they having a sale or is this just clarance? How did you do yesterday, sorry I am just responding.

Just wanted to let you know that the bottle is in the mail today. You should have it sometime in the next week.

Elijahs Mom - Tuesday, 30 September
When they are drinking. They leak from the nipple. I looked up reviews online and its a common problem so it wasnt just our batch. Ew its no fun getting sticky boob juice all over your hands while feeding lol. But a lot of women really like them too so I'd get 1 or 2 and see if you like them enough to buy more. The plus is I think they're BPA free.

Elijahs Mom - Tuesday, 30 September
I have Avent bottles but they leaked SOOO bad that only use them as storage bottles now. I use the Playtex Ventaire Advanced bottles and they are awesome. He hardly takes in any air.

I marked your last message as private btw just cause it has your address. Not sure if you care or not, but just to be on the safe side. Thanks for your comment on the daycare thing! At least I know I am not completey nuts!
