My delivery story!!!

On Friday night I had done lots of things. I had gone grocery shopping, blowed up balloons for my baby shower the next day, had dinner with my parents and baked cupcakes! But just as I was lying down into bed at 12pm a huge gush of my waters soaked us. I got into the shower while my partner called the hospital. I had 3 contractions before I could get out all lasting 2 minutes at 2 minutes apart. At the same time my partner was rushing around packing things into a bag that I might need - we still had 2 months to go, we hadn’t exactly prepared for this!

On the way to the hospital I had another couple of contractions now lasting 3 minutes a piece. Once in the birth suite they put the monitors on my belly to see how I was going and decided to do an internal exam. Within 45 minutes of going into labour the doctor announced she could see my baby's bum! Did I mention she was at breach??? I was already 5-6 cm dilated. "You’re going to have a baby today" the doctor cheerfully said.

From there on they gave me the Gas to suck on. At first I didn’t like it but they kept making me have it and I am glad they did because by god it helped. This is when they break the news to me that we need to go have an emergency C-section to get her out. She was coming too fast for us both! By now I am completely out of it and am only now remembering the details. My partner Richard is staying very clam and is supporting me completely though I know he is as worried as I am. While they are preparing me and the theatre for my c-section she was still making her was down the birth canal.

I get to the theatre. From this point on Richard can’t come with me and apparently I begin to panic. At this stage most of the gas has warn off and I have had no other type of drugs. As the doctor is about to put my under a general antiseptic it appears that it’s not going to happen and I have to deliver Virginally within the next 10 minutes. A baby at breach, a first time mum and no antiseptic did not make a great mix for me!

At 2:08 my baby girl was here. 8 weeks premature I was unable to hold her. The nurse did bring her over to me and I got to kiss her nose. I had done it. The doctors were all very amazed at me. I had 2 stiches; it was a very minor tear.

By the time I was back in my room I felt fine - considering. I had a shower with the help of Richard and went to see my little girl. I could walk fine and only felt a little dizzy from the blood loss. She is so tiny, but she is very health. She is breathing on her own; she has no health issues and is starting to eat more and more each time.

I have now been discharged from the hospital but I am here all the time being with her. On the same day I gave birth I still attended my baby shower with allot of people in shock because we didn’t tell anyone till they arrived. It was a very fast experience!

Girl, if you are leaking like that - YOU'D BETTER MOVE IT TO THE HOSPITAL!

Jo-Mama - Monday, 4 Feb
Oooh - I would call your doc/midwife. Sounds like water breaking to me. Let us know what happens! Good luck!

GO to the doctor asap!!! If you lose to much fluid you could harm baby.

lisar - Monday, 4 Feb
I think you need to go to the hospital ASAP. If your water is leaking, that means there is a hole, and the baby can get an infection.

ashleygray - Monday, 4 Feb
I think you should call your doctor or go straight to the ER.

kayleighrobo - Monday, 4 Feb
hiya i would go the hospital i was 32 weeks when that happend to me i had a slight tear on my sac and if i would of left it any longer the baby would not be here, the tear re-healed in hospital on bed rest but i had low fluid so the baby would of been in danger if i went into labour coz the cord could of colapsed get straight there and let me know how you got on

ok! now im nervous. i read your poll and i am 23 weeks. i have always had a lot of discharge throughout my pregnancy and have heard it is normal and that most all people have it. but past week it has been same consistancy (thick creamy) but has changed in color. it is a bright almost flouresant yellow/green. is that what you have? i hope im not losing my plug because that is not good! just let me know what your doctor says and if your discharge is like mine. good luck!
