Zachary is 9 weeks old. He has started to coo and make some cute noises & be more interactive. He was very tired after his shots, but he seems to be doing better now. We hope everyone is doing well! Have a great weekend :-)

11/11/08 Tuesday

Zachary is 2 months old! He went to the doctor yesterday and got his immunization shots :-( poor guy, he didn't like it at all of course and cried a lot last night! He weighed in at 11pounds, 9oz (50th percentile), 23 inches long (56th percentile), and his head circumference is 40cm (53rd percentile). He is growing like a weed!

11/6/08 Thursday

Zachary is 8 weeks old (~2 months). He is continuing to swing at all of his toys (just a lot more often and more vigorously now). He is smiling a lot more now too, it is very cute. Now he will sleep from 8pm until 4am (and last night until 5am!) and then some more until about 8am. Long naps during the day are non-existent (usually he will only sleep 5-20min at a stretch), which makes for a rather unhappy baby at the end of the day, so we are working on that. But overall, we are lucky b/c we have a baby who likes to sleep at night instead of in the day! Mommy returned to work part time this week, so that has been a bit of an adjustment, but it is going really well (but the house work mysteriously isn't getting done as quickly-- strange). Daddy works from 5:30 to 1:30 and Mommy works from 1:30 till 6:30 (including transit time on the buses). Mommy takes Zach in the car & trades w/ Daddy at work. It works well right now since we only have one car! Mommy & Daddy celebrated their anniversary on Nov 4th... and it was Uncle John's birthday--- so HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN! Yay! We hope everyone is doing well. R&J&Z

11/2/08 Sunday

Zachary is 7 weeks old. His new things are swinging his hands at toys (on his play mat (thanks Gram Carol)) & smiling with his mouth wide open & his tongue sticking out. He is usually going to sleep about 8pm and sleeping until 2 or 3, then again until 6 or 7--- his naps during the day are inconsistent and last anywhere from 5 min to 2 hours. His hair is continuing to grow back in & is beginning to look spiky. For his first Halloween he was, you guessed it, a MONKEY! He he he! Mommy took him into work and we said hello, then we went and visited his cousins & last his friend Katherine.

10/27/08 Monday

Zachary is 6 weeks old. He is looking around a lot more at things and peoples faces & he still really enjoys lights & window shades & anything with contrast (especially Cloe the cow (thanks Laura))! He loves to lay in his crib & look at the cow & monkey mobile. Zachary is smiling quite a bit more too, it is very cute. The hair on the top of his head is growing in more (looks brown to me).... but it is still pretty short. He is now filling out his newborn outfits & may not fit in them soon (0-3 months are fitting fine still). This week is Halloween & we plan on getting him dressed up & stopping in at work. I will post pictures of his costume soon ;-) Here are some cute pictures of 1) him smiling on his tummy time mat (thanks Amber for the mat!) and 2) his hair coming in and 3) his 6 week pictures. 10/20/08 Monday

Zach is 5 weeks old. He has new hair growing in on his head (not sure what color it is yet, it appears to be light). He seems to be actively reaching for a toy on his changing table... he is holding his head up for about 15-30seconds now. He loves to look at lights and blinds & anything with contrast (kitty Binny included). He usually sleeps in 4 hour stretches at night, but occasionally we will get up to 6 hours. We still don't really have a day time routine, although he generally eats every 2 to 3 hours and will have a longer afternoon nap. Here are some cute pictures!

10/13/08 Monday

According to the doctor Zachary now weighs 9 pounds 8 ounces and is 21.75 inches long! He is right in the middle of the pack as far as all of his stats go, which means he went up in the weight percentile from 25 to 50. :-)

10/11/08 Saturday

Zachary is four weeks old (1 month!)! The big development this week, he is losing his hair on the top sides of his head :-( Mom likes his hair and wish he wouldn't lose it!!
He is following objects with his eyes & is beginning to enjoy some toys (his tummy time mat & the toys on his bouncer seat). He is a wiggler... as this weeks pictures may portray (we have a hard time getting a picture of him!). He also got his first cold this past week... just a stuffy nose, but enough to make him a bit cranky. It only lasted for about 3 days and now he is doing fine. We hope all is well with everyone else!!

10/2/08 Thursday

Zachary is three weeks old! He is moving his hands a lot more, sleeping & eating well still too. He is having more facial movements in his sleep, often he looks funny & will also looking like he is actually smiling for real! His blocked tear duct is all better, but he still is working on getting both his eyes working in the same direction at the same time (he goes cross eyed still, which is too cute! At least for now...) He looks bigger (his cheeks are filling out), I think our scale is off... b/c he only weighed 8 pounds this week (just using our regular digital scale at home). I think only the doctor could really tell us for sure. He is filling out his newborn clothes much more now, so he must have grown longer too. Here are some pictures!

9/24/08 Thursday

Zachary is two weeks old! How did that happen already? By our best weighing guess at home he is now about 8.5pounds. He is doing well, eating a lot & sleeping up to 4 or 5 hours at night. He is a great relaxed baby & only fusses when he has to poo, burp or eat. Here are a few cute pictures.

9/11/08 Thursday

Zachary R was born 9/11 at 10:04am weighing in at 6 pounds 14oz, 19.5inches long w/ apgars of 7 and 9. Active labor started about 7pm Wed 9/10. It was quite a long mostly natural labor!
Will post pics when we can get them on the computer (he is of course, adorable!). We are recovering... will be in touch w/ more info later.

I love what you did with the monkeys and the pregnancy test. Love it!And I see that you took more than one...I did that too...heeheehee!
I feel so blessed to have a baby growing in my womb right now. What a miracle! I had my first sonogram and saw the heartbeat. So cool! Can't wait to be out of the 1st trimester, I think it's the scariest one. I just want to be able to say I'm in the clear. Good luck and keep me posted!

Things are great down under. We celebrated Australia day over the weekend and had a public holiday on Monday. Yay. I went to 3 BBQ's and ate lots. I drank a glass of wine so people wouldn't start asking questions. Feeling guilty about that now. But 1 can't hurt. I haven't had any heartburn but m/s is getting worse. I haven't actually thrown up, but feeling very nauseous and struggling to eat some days. I think the tiredness is worse though. I get to lunch time (about now) and feel like a nap. I have my first appointment with the ob/gyn on 18/2. I can't wait to have an u/s to make sure everything is ok. Enjoy the cold weather LOL.
