I am currently pregnant with my first baby. I found out I was pregnant in December 07 and took about 3-4 tests to confirm it because I hadn't missed my period yet and it was a faint positive. My husband and I went up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend and I took one but didn't tell him so it came out positive but then I said let's go to the store and get a test (to be sure) so we did and it came out positive. We were both ecstatic. That night we went to the casino (this little smoke free casino called Bills that we absolutely love because everyone is so cool and down to earth) and my husband had the best luck that night. I guess it was just his night.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 20 so we had a hard time getting pregnant but the first time we decided to use the shots it happened. We have been pretty blessed so far even though this pregnancy has not been easy lately. I currently have PIH - Pregnancy Induced Hypertension and they are monitoring me weekly to see if it turns into preeclampsia. My work schedule was cut to 5 1/2 or 6 hours a day but its much better than being taken off and not have as much time with my little one after he is born.

We found out we are having a boy in March 08 but I knew all along. Just instinct I guess. I can't wait to meet my little man!

You are so lucky! God bless you! I have the most laziest/ Iressponsible/ unreliable family in the world!

The whole thing has been a mystery to me. Starting at about week 32 I would go in for appointments and have high numbers (usually like the 130's over high 80's). Then, at week 34, I went in and it was around 140/90. They gave me a blood pressure monitor to use at home over the weekend, keeping my feet up as much as possible.

My BP was high throughout the weekend. When I went back in on Monday, I was prescribed bedrest. The bedrest really helps keep my numbers down. And it keeps the swelling down too. I was really swollen before the bedrest. Now I just get swollen when I am up and around for long periods - even just sitting in the car. My BP goes up (usually the 140/90's) when I am up and about. The highest it has gotten was 160's/100.

At first I was just diagnosed with gestational hypertension, as I wasn't showing protein in my urine yet. Now I have it in my urine - and that's when they diagnosed me with preeclampsia. They've done blood tests and my kidneys and liver are fine.

I've just been told to stay on bedrest. We thought we were having the baby on Wednesday, but my midwife/doctor decided that because my numbers weren't getting higher, that I should wait another week for induction to avoid c-section.

My baby is doing fine and hasn't shown any indication of being impacted by my condition. I am wondering how the labor will go and I really can't wait to have this kid!

his goal was 37 but he is saying now there's no way so it will be between 32 and 34.

I just recently registered with the help of a friend of mine who has an 11 month old daughter. Her advice was this: Diaper pails are cool because they keep things from getting extra stinky by sealing between each dirty diaper in the bag. The key is to find one that uses regular trash bags. The Diaper Genie ones are great, but you have to use Diaper Genie bags, which are only available at certain stores, and cost a bit more. So there is my two cents! Happy shopping/registering!

you definalty have the symptoms for preeclampsia. my blood pressure goes up and down. the first thing my doctor noticed was the severe swelling in my feet. if you go to bed and wake up and they are still very swollen you are storing water which happens when your losing protein. Have you had a bad metal aste in your mouth? thats another sign. The 24 will tell you alot. My doctor did my first 24 hour urine and didn't tell me the results until i went back tot he doctor because he cant really do anything until 30 weeks. I am on complete bed rest. He only wants me up to eat, shower, pee and come to the doctor which i do twice a week. I have to do a 24 hour urine each week and blood tests. as far as the c-section, i really didn't want one! But my doctor said that delivering vaginally will make my b/p go up and it's going to be safer this way. The only way i could deliver vaginally is if I could have made it to 37 weeks. but now he say there is no chance of me making it that far. Some advice is try not to look up a lot on preeclampsia or watch show's about it! It will scare you! My docotr wants to come unhook my cable and internet because I really scared myself. Just hang in there! I'll be praying for you!

Yeah that is really going to suck to have to wear both of those...LOL

Amanda26 - Wednesday, 11 June
Me too. I'm trying to hold off on things until my baby shower. I've placed a diaper bag on my registry. So I'm trying to hold off until then to see what I get. Then whatever I don't get I will have to purchase myself. I'm sooo ready to get things done though and it drives me crazy

Amanda26 - Wednesday, 11 June
I agree. I still have my my crib up yet. Guess thats okay since my mom wants to get the bedding for my baby shower at the end of June. I just want to get everything set up.

The only negative thing I heard about the Ameda is that the motor burns out on them if they are used a lot. But I also heard that they have great customer service and if this happens they will replace the motor within a couple of days.

lilcbabii - Thursday, 29 May
Do you how much your baby weighs?

mommynicolem - Tuesday, 27 May
HAHA! Abrupt is my middle name when I'm pregnant. My mother doesn't have a job, other than taking care of my 2 year old when I work. So, she does nothing but sit and obsess over my pregnancy. Heck, I had an elective 3D/4D ultrasound today and she asked the guy whether Evan (my in utero son) was big. She's obsessed. The guy just laughed and told her he couldn't tell...that he had the picture magnified so as to get better pics. That for an almost 28 week gestation baby, he looked normal. :) My mother....can't live without her, but wish I could! HAHA!!!

joyfulnoise - Tuesday, 27 May
I have not had a c-section. I was able to get them out. But, my doctor did say that due to the sizes of the last 2, they will induce me approx. 10 days early in order to avoid a c-section. She said that she can induce due to size of the baby as long as my cervix is ready. So my cervix will need to already be starting to dialate. It's weird how doctors can have such different opinions on such things. The doctor I had for our 2nd birth would not induce me even though I was worried about him being too big. She said there was no reason to believe that he would be larger than average....he was 9 pounds 7 ounces ..... I have a new doctor now

joyfulnoise - Tuesday, 27 May
That's what I'm hoping too!! My last 2 were over 9 pounds but I didn't measure this big at these appointments. So this may be the BIG one. Good luck at your appointment, keep me posted when you can

mommynicolem - Tuesday, 27 May
To answer your question, yes...I have a mother that drives me utterly insane talking about how big I am. I'm not that darn big! I feel like a whale, but I am almost 7 months pregnant. Since I'm all hormonal and crap, I don't really care if I hurt her feelings a little. I'm the one that feels like a whale and she needs to hush. Last time she said something, I told her, "Mom. stop. I already feel bad enough..."

joyfulnoise - Monday, 26 May
Hi there, I am also measuring bigger. At my last appointment (25 weeks) I measured 29 weeks. The doctor said they will do a scan at 36 weeks to get an idea of size. Let me know what you find out at your u/s, i'm interested in knowing what you're finding out about this. Thanks & good luck!

Beeccii - Thursday, 22 May
Thats funny!! And so true! Oh well-- just do what you can do, and everything else-- screw it!

Beeccii - Wednesday, 21 May
That sucks! Im so sorry! Some of us are really unlucky here in the US. Did you know that in France women even get housekeepers to come and clean/cook after a women gives birth? Whats up with that??? My doc actually told me to get more rest...but how?

noodle - Monday, 19 May
