Labor Story:

I was due on October 6th.

On October 12th, i woke up at 4:30 with contractions that were about 10 mins apart. They were pretty strong, but i was convinced that i wasn't near labor. i ate some breakfast at about 5:30 (eggs on toast). having intense pain i breathed my way through it and rested inbetween. at about 8:00 my contractions were getting even more intense and thank god my boyfriend was home because he decided we should time the contractions. they were about 5 mins apart, still not thinking i was going to have this baby, i took a bath. My contractions did not subside when i took a bath and i started leaking fluid with each contraction. believe it or not, I STILL didnt think it was it! at about 10:00 am the contractions were 2-3 mins apart and my boyfriend convinced me it was time to go to the hospital! after blow drying my hair, GOD What was i THINKING!!:??? we got at the hostpital at about 1100. The dr. hooked me up the the contraction thing and sure enough they were strong contractions that were 2 mins apart. i told them i thought i may be leaking fluid but i wasnt sure, so they had to wait for the dr. to come at about 1230 to see how far dilated i was. They didnt give me any pain medication still at this point because they didnt know i was going to be admitted. BY the time the dr. got there i was 6 cm dilated and 100% effaced. so the dr. left and said he would come back when i got closer. But i new by every minute it was getting closer. i told the nurse that i wanted a little bit of pain medication in an IV. she kept leaving the room and messing around. about an hour later they Tried getting the IV in my arm but coudnt!! They had to send someone from the lab to do it because my veins are so small. the lab lady finaly got the IV in, and i was so relieved thinking oh yesss..im going to get some relief. The nurse said she was going to check me to make sure i wasnt fully dilated. you guessed it, i was!. i was sooo mad at the nurse for waiting so long to put the IV in. I started to cry knowing i would have to suffer through all that pain. did i mention it was really bad back pain!...they didnt even have a heating pad! so i started pushing and an hour and a half I had him...ALL NATURAL!
