So, my story is that I have a 4 year old daughter. I was on clomid when I conceived her. We had tried for 2.5 years before conceiving her. When she was about 6 months old, we started trying again. After about a year and a half, we started going to doctors again. They said that since I was ovulating, that they couldn't give me clomid again. We didn't really want to go down the infertility road, so we eventually stopped "trying" (worrying about timing, doing temps, etc.) When my daughter was 3 and a half, she decided that I should have a baby for my birthday. Her dad talked with her about it and encouraged her to pray about it. So, she did. She prayed off and on for this for months. My birthday came and went last year, no pregnancy, no baby. She was disappointed. We talked with her about how God answers prayers sometimes - yes, no and wait. So she prayed some more. A few weeks after this conversation, I found out that I was pregnant. And guess what - the baby is due on my birthday.

This pregnancy had been full of some ups and downs, but not too bad. One of the more difficult things for me has been that in my work as a hospital chaplain, I am sometimes called to help people who have suffered a pregnancy loss. I had to do that the same week that I found out that I was pregnant and a couple of times since. Not a fun thing to do. The only other thing is getting emergency calls at all hours of the night, but I've been doing this for 7 years, so am kind of used to it.

Hi Jennifer

I can't believe that Riley is now 2 months. The time has passed so quickly! It is a good reminder (to me) how precious the time is while they are tiny. I am so pleased to hear how well you are all doing. It sounds as though you have been having a great time recently. Kaitlyn sounds as though she is pretty busy with lots of exciting things to do. I am sure she will enjoy her dance classes and church camp. What date does she start at her new school? I can't remember if I told you that Kate went on a visit to her school last week and did wonderfully. She really liked the teacher and didn't make any fuss at all about being left for an hour. It made me feel much more confident about her starting for real in a couple of months. She has always been excited about the prospect...it is just her daft mum that is the worrier!!

I have been continuing with the preparations for the arrival of the little bundle in October. The weekend was very satisfying as I finally have somewhere to start to collect the baby things together. I have now washed all the newborn baby clothes and they are put away in the drawers. I even bought a pack of nappies today! I have made a list of things that I need to buy over the next couple of months - there are not too many things, nothing major, but as my memory isn't so great at the moment, the list will be a help!!

I survived an (almost) major disaster a couple of days ago when I nearly set fire to our kitchen!! I left a pan of pasta cooking for a few minutes and when I returned I was shocked to see fairly big flames!! I panicked and threw a jug of water over them, which calmed it down, but didn't quite put out the small fire, so then I covered it in a wet towel. The fire had been caused by the plastic handle of a utensil melting as it was too close to the heat. It must have got so hot it caught alight. Thankfully there is no real damage done, other than having a lot of clearing up to do from the melted plastic, water etc - but it was a big shock and quite scary at the time! It just goes to show how easy it is for these things to happen as I was only away from the cooker for a few minutes!!

I am off to bed now as it has been a busy day and I am so exhausted! Some days I just seem to have less energy than others. Don't worry about being grumpy when you are tired - I have definitely been VERY grumpy tonight. It is just part and parcel of being a busy mum!

Hi Jennifer
It was good to hear from you. I bet Riley looks quite different from your last photograph of her, especially as she weighs more than 10lbs now. It is so nice to hear that everything is going well.

October still feels a long way off although time does seem to be passing very quickly. There are only 3 weeks left until the children finish school for the summer vacation - so that means only 3 weeks left at work for me! (I am almost at the point of counting down days, but not quite!!)

At the weekend, my husband and I decided to make a start on some major re-organising work in the girls bedroom and our spare bedroom. We had bought some new bedroom furniture on Tuesday last week for the room that Bethan and Kate share. It was always going to be an enormous task (mostly because the spare bedroom has been used as a bit of a 'junk' room over the last few years). The room intended for the baby resembled a jumble sale - lots of bags of things and boxes of stuff to sort out!!

After a great deal of work on Saturday and Sunday all the new furniture is installed in the girls bedroom and all of the contents are back in wardrobes etc as it should be. There is less junk in the spare room and the 3 pieces of furniture that were in Bethan and Kate's room have been transferred to the spare room, ready for the baby things to go into. We are going to decorate sometime next year and get new curtains, bedding, rugs etc, so for now the room has had a really good clean. It actually resembles a bedroom now at last!!

I must admit though it feels really good to have got on so well, we didn't really expect to get so much done - and the house is beginning to look much better organised. I am trying to get as much done before the start of the school holidays in the hope that I can have 5-6 weeks of time with the girls without the stress of having to do too many large-scale jobs.

I hope it doesn't appear that I am stressing too much over preparations for this baby... afterall they don't actually 'need' all that much do they!! I think it is more to do with the fact that Kate starts school in September and I don't want too much to do last minute so that I have time to make sure she settles OK.

The trip to your in-laws sounds great. It will be lovely for your daughter to spend some time in the country - especially as they have horses and a pond. I bet you are all looking forward to going. It is always good to get away from the house for a bit. I hope you all have a lovely time.
Best wishes. Valerie x

sparklyval - Friday, 27 June
Hello Jennifer.
You are so right about being busy and I am not sure that I get enough time to rest really - I just hope that the baby is getting the chance to grow properly! Things will definitely calm down a lot in a month's time when I finish work. I will only be about 30 weeks then so hopefully I will still have time to re-charge my batteries before the baby is born. I know I will need plenty of energy in October! 25th July still seems like a long way off at the moment... I just need to pace myself a bit in the meantime!

I guess I am the same as you really - I like to just get on with things and find it frustrating when I don't have enough time for everything. I am taking a bit of time out this weekend though as I catching a train in about an hour's time to go and visit a friend who I used to work with many years ago. I haven't seen her for over 2 years, so it will be lovely to have the chance to catch up. I am staying away overnight and will be back home by tomorrow evening. I am sure that Antony and the girls will be just fine while I am away! I am quite looking foward to sitting and resting on the train for an hour in a little while!

It is lovely to hear that Riley has begun to smile back at you and that she is interacting with you. It is so nice when they start to respond to everything around them. It makes all the hard work so worthwhile! It sounds as though everything is going well. Do you still have plenty of time away from work with her before you have to go back?

Your family holiday plans sound good. I should imagine it will be quite emotional too if you are going to scatter your sister-in-law's ashes, but very important that you can carry out her wishes. Am I right in thinking that you have named Riley after your sister-in-law? I seem to remember you telling me a while ago that she was going to have her name as her middle name?

That is great news about your husband working from home on Fridays. My husband works from home on Tuesdays and it is so nice to have that bit of extra time with him around. It is great as he can pop to school with me to drop the girls off before he starts work and he is at home when they finish for the day. Things like that seem to make all the difference when you have a family.

Thanks so much for your update and I am pleased that everything seems to be going so well.
Have a lovely weekend
Valerie x

sparklyval - Thursday, 19 June
Hi Jennifer. It is lovely to hear from you. You sound so happy and content with baby Riley. It sounds as though you have got through the hardest few weeks and feeding is well established. Has she been smiling yet? It must be good to be able to get out and about.

I am very well thank you, although it seems to be such a busy time of the year in the run up to the girls finishing school. I seem to be on the go non-stop most days from about 7.30am until often 12.30-1.00am. Some of this is my own fault for taking on a lot, but some of it comes from things I can't get out of!! Tomorrow Bethan is going on a trip with School and has to be AT school by 7.45am! Then, on Saturday she is away on another trip with the girl guides and has to be on the coach by 9.30am. At least for the rest of us Saturday will be a much quieter day once we have dropped her off for the trip. I could do with a rest!!

It still seems like a long time until this baby is due, but in a way I am pleased about that as there is a lot to get organised before October! I am pleased that there are not too many more weeks left at work now.

Will you be able to have a holiday at all? We are due to go on holiday towards the end of August - it will be nice to have a bit of quality family time before the baby arrives (and of course school starts for Kate!)

How are your husband and older daughter? Are you all adapting to having Riley as a new member of your family?
All the best, Valerie x

sparklyval - Tuesday, 10 June
HI! I have just found the new photograph of Riley on your page. She is growing quickly! I can't believe that she is already a month old! I guess she is changing a lot all the time. Has she started smiling yet? Babies are just so cute when they reach that stage, but I forget when everything happens!

How are things going? I remember you said you were hoping to have about three months away from work - will you start back to work when Kaitlyn goes to school or before? Does she need to wear a uniform to school? We have just started to buy the first few things for Kate - she was so excited to get her school dresses and didn't want to take them off. She has a visit to school on 06th July for a couple of hours. I think she will be able to wear her uniform that day which will make her happy.

Do you get any time just with Riley at the moment? I was wondering if Kaitlyn goes to playschool/nursery?

The weather has been really warm/hot and sunny here, so I have been trying to make the most of it! Sadly in the UK we don't see the sun as much as we would like! No doubt next time I write to you it will be pouring with rain! The only down side of so much sun is that the garden needs a lot of watering - my husband planted up a small vegetable patch and the seedling are growing really well, but they need a lot of water, so we have been busy outside!

Hope you are keeping well, Valerie x

sparklyval - Monday, 2 June
Hello Jennifer, thanks so much for writing. I am sure that it must be difficult to get time away from your two girls at the moment and it is lovely to hear from you.
Have you had many visitors to see you since you had Riley? Have you managed to make a trip in to work to show her to the staff at the hospital? I bet they will be very excited to meet her. Are you missing work or have you been too busy to even think about it!!
It sounds as though things are going pretty well with her feeding and sleeping at night. I seem to remember that Kate was like Riley - she would wake for a quick feed and fall asleep while she was drinking, so I wouldn't be awake half the night trying to settle her back down.
I can't believe that I have only got about 18 weeks until this baby comes. It still sounds like a long time but the weeks have been passing so quickly. I am dreading Kate starting school in September as she is such lovely company. BUT at the same time I am going to appreciate having the time to concentrate on the baby when it arrives. It is going to be a very emotional time for all of us. I will be relying on you to keep me sane!!

sparklyval - Friday, 30 May
WOW!! - 5 hours sleep, that is great! I hope Riley carries on like that for you. Sleep deprivation is the worst thing ever, but I guess you are used to that if Kaitlyn wasn't a good sleeper.
Like Kaitlyn, Kate starts school in September this year. When I had Kate, Bethan hadn't started school and I had a cross-over year where I had Kate as a baby and Bethan as a 4-year old. I found it very hard to balance the needs of a baby and an older toddler. Expecially all the rushing around to take Bethan to playschool and all of the activities she did during the week. I understand completely how you must be feeling and of course Kaitlyn is just that bit older than Bethan would have been so she has been used to being the only one needing her mum's time for longer!
Things will definitely get easier as Riley gets bigger - especially once she starts interacting with you all a bit more. Kaitlyn will take great pleasure in making Riley smile and laugh! The whole process of adjustment to having a new member of the family is hard for everyone. Keep smiling!!
Goodness knows how I will cope with 3 (eek!!) Both Bethan and Kate will be at school full time by the start of October so I will have to try to give them more fuss and attention in the evenings and concentrate on all the jobs and the new baby in the daytime. Well, it is always good to have some kind of theoretical plan!!!

sparklyval - Monday, 26 May
Hi Jennifer, thank you for your message. You are right about my husband. He thinks having girls is great and has no disappointment at all about having another one! I was very worried he would be upset about not having a son to watch football with and so on, but he doesn't feel that way - he says that there are not many things that you can't do with girls anyway which is right of course! He is a great dad to Bethan and Kate - I sometimes can't believe how lucky I am!!
Since having the scan last week I have become very settled with the news. In many ways having another girl simplifies so many things. I know that Bethan and Kate will love having a little sister. It also cuts down on a lot of jobs for me before the baby comes (like sorting through all of the clothes in the attic!)
Now, we just have to decide on a first name!
I am sure that you must feel exhausted. I have forgotten how hard it is losing sleep getting up to a new baby. I will find out for myself before too much longer! It is great that you have been having some help from your family. I am sure you are glad of it! How is your older daughter adjusting to being the big sister? Valerie x

sparklyval - Thursday, 22 May
Hello, I just thought I would post a little message about the hospital appointment I had today.

Firstly and most importantly the baby is completely well and healthy. We had a very positive scan - the sonographer managed to check everything that she needed to and all the major organs etc have developed as they should have done. In fact it was quite amazing to see so much detail - at one time we could even see the lens of the baby's eye. The scan seemed so much clearer than when I had them done for Bethan and Kate. I guess that is the result of technological advances over 5 years or so!

Anyway, the news is that we are expecting another baby girl. The sonographer was quite sure it was a girl from the scan. I have come away with mixed feelings. I was really hoping that the baby would be another girl, but now that we have found out it is a girl I feel almost disappointed. It is really hard to explain, but I guess because we are not planning to have any more children, I am a little sad because I will never find out what it is like to have a little boy in life. Funnily enough my husband is delighted! He thought all along it would be another girl and is really happy. He has no reservations at all about not having a boy - even though he will be in a household of 4 women!

Practically speaking it is great as we are kitted out for girls in our house! Everything is pink and we have kept all of the girls clothes that we have and the toys are mostly girls toys. So in terms of finances, having a 3rd little girl will be much cheaper.

Plus we were struggling to think of any boys names. There are just so many pretty girls names out there.....
And also we only have 3 bedrooms, so another girl makes the sleeping arrangements much easier.

So, lots and lots of positives, but still this unexplained sense of disappointment, even though I wanted another girl!!!!
What do you think, have I gone mad!?
I hope you and your family are ok, love Valerie x

sparklyval - Monday, 19 May
Hello Jennifer! Thanks for telling me about the photo of Riley. She looks so lovely and very peaceful - I hope that she is as contented as she looks and that you are getting on well. I am dreading the first couple of months of waking up in the night for feeds - it can be so exhausting. I hope you are managing to get enough rest.

Aren't I sad!! - I am counting the days until my scan on Thursday, only 3 days away now!! I am going to relish those few precious moments where I will be able to see the baby again. I will be sure to tell you all about it!

Love, Valerie x

sparklyval - Friday, 16 May
Hi Jennifer (its v nice to know your name now!) First of all, please don't worry about writing...I remember very well how busy and tiring the first couple of months are when you have a new baby. Reading what you have written brings it all back. If you do find a minute to write then it would be lovely to hear from you. Likewise if you need to have a good moan about being tired or anything else, then I am here. BUT, the most important thing is your lovely new baby - enjoy those precious first couple of months, they go so fast!
It sounds as though your had a fairly good labour with Riley, although I guess it must have been exhausting - especially with having contractions overnight. I am sure you must be feeling tired if Riley has been awake a lot too. I will be praying for some peaceful nights for you!
Keep persevering with the breast feeding. It will get easier. The first two weeks are very hard with breast feeding, but it is a lovely thing to do and so good for your baby. I fed my first daughter until she was 14 months, I was hoping to do the same with Kate but she decided to stop when whe was 8 months old. I felt a bit robbed! I am hoping to breastfeed this baby when he/she is born. I hope things get easier in that department.

I am fine thankyou, the middle part of pregnancy is the best, and I am enjoying it. I might feel differently in a few months time!

Take good care of yourself and please give your new baby a little kiss from me! I hope that your older daughter is adapting well to the role of big sister. I am sure that Riley is bringing you all much happiness. I will keep you in my thought.
Love, Valerie

HI! Came across your new baby photo by chance, wondering if you had managed to get on to the site or if Riley was keeping you too busy! How amazing!! She looks beautiful and a lovely size too....perfect. You must all be thrilled. So lovely! PS, I realise writing this, I don't even know your name, sorry it all seems a bit impersonal. The best wishes to you and your family are very well meant though. Val xx

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BIRTH OF RILEY MICHELLE!

That is lovely lovely news.....well done! I look forward to hearing all about her soon. Hope you are feeling well. Lots of love to you and your family, Valerie xx

Hi! I hope everything is ok...it says you haven't been online for a few days. I am guessing that you are either sick of this site (and maybe at that fed up with being pregnant stage) or possibly your baby is here or soon will be. Sending you best wishes x

sparklyval - Friday, 9 May
Hi! Well done for carrying on at work - it must be tiring now. You have got to the stage where you are just counting the days rather than the weeks now. The latest I worked with my pregnancies was 10 days before Kate was born. It does get hard going, but not for much longer! I hope you can manage to stay at work for a bit longer so that you can have more time with your baby when she comes. Is the weather hot where you are? We have had a lovely sunny week and the temperature has been up to 22degreesC which has been great but I am glad I'm not 8 months pregnant at the moment.
Yes, I have less than 2 weeks to go now until I am half way through. I am very excited about my scan on 22nd May. I have been wearing maternity clothes for a couple of weeks now...everything else just got too uncomfortable. I still had quite a lot left in the attic from when I was pregnant with Kate, but I have treated myself to some new tops as well.
Thinking of you, Valerie

sparklyval - Tuesday, 6 May
Hi, sorry to hear about the storms. I always find it so scary when it is really windy here. We have had quite a lot of bad storms this year, but nothing bad enough for people to lose their homes. That must be awful. I can't believe the news at the moment about Burma - so many thousands of people dead because of the cyclone there. It is unimaginable. There are so many people missing too. You feel for the families of everyone caught up in the tragedy.

I am impressed that you have managed to research your family tree so far back. I don't know much about my roots - only the previous few generations. It must be interesting to find out. I would like to do some research at some point in the future when I am not so busy with the children....so many things that I would like to do...just not enough time!

We have had a lovely weekend. The weather was very kind to us and we had sunshine all day yesterday. We did get a little bit of rain on Sunday but it didn't cause any problems as we were exploring a town called Harrogate near to York, so it was a good excuse to stop for a cup of tea and some cake! We visited Fountains Abbey near York yesterday. The abbey is just ruins now. It was founded in the 1100's by 13 monks and was one of the most prosperous abbey's in Europe. It is set in a beautiful wooded valley where you can't hear anything apart from the birds. The ruins are quite substantial and give a real feel of how it must have been to be a monk all those hundreds of years ago. We had a lovely day out and really didn't want to leave the place - it was so relaxing. If you are interested there is a site about the abbey www.fountainsabbey.org.uk

Anyway, on to more important matters....how are you? Any signs of your baby making an appearance at the moment? I hope you have been feeling ok. Is everything ready for your little girl arriving? Has your daughter been helping you?

sparklyval - Thursday, 1 May
Hello, thanks for your message! With regard to the healthcare system here, there definitely seems to be a big difference in ante-natal care between the US and UK. All health care is provided by the national health service, which is paid for through our taxation system. This means we don't have to pay any private health care, but it also means that the service offered can be a little basic.
I will have my baby in the local hospital - it's a big, busy hospital about 15 minutes by car from here. It is where both my other babies were born. The staff there were very good with me, despite the deliveries being a little less than straightforward (but nothing TOO major).

The weather is improving here too!! (At last!) The forecast for the weekend is good, which is great as we have a bank holiday on Monday so we all get an extra day off. I have booked a night in a hotel near to York (about 2 hours by car from here). It will be nice to have a couple of family days away from the house. We have thought of a few 'out door' things to do, so I hope the forecast is right.

I was surprised to hear that you have visited the UK before. The way you describe England is very accurate - cool and cloudy - most of the year seems that way! It's funny but I have only ever been to Scotland once and that time just to Edinburgh. I really liked the city, although I went when Kate was about 6 months old and there were a lot of hills to push her up and down! Do you have any family in Scotland still? Have you traced your family tree at all? When I was chatting to my mum a few days ago about you and this site, she said 'does she have any links to the UK' and I laughed and said to my mum (thinking she was being a bit daft) what a silly thing to think/ask - the world seems such a big place afterall. So I guess mum knew best!

By the way - my husband thinks I have become a bit obsessed with pregnancy and this site in particular! I am not sure that men really understand how women think! Until I found this site I had never had any contact with anyone outside of the UK, apart from my best friend from school who moved to Sweden a few years ago. Its hard to believe that you are so many thousands of miles away, yet experiencing the same ups and downs of pregnancy. You are right about this site being a blessing - it always makes me feel happy when I find a message waiting. Thanks for finding the time to write - you never ramble!!

sparklyval - Wednesday, 30 April
Hi! WOW - 36 weeks, that's amazing! Not much time to go now! It is very exciting! Don't worry too much about being dilated...that can happen really quickly once labour starts, it is a good sign that your baby is engaged - its the first step to meeting your little one - and what an amazing experience that will be! Especially for your daughter when she meets the baby for the first time.
Have you been giving the delivery/birth much thought? Will your baby be born in hospital? At least you will know your way around the hospital very well!
I spoke to my mum on the telephone last night and mentioned that I had been e-mailing you and a couple of other ladies. She couldn't believe it! She was very intrigued about the whole web-site set up (mum isn't at all into computers - has never had any desire to learn I guess)! Having a baby is a different experience now than it was even 20 years ago isn't it! When my mum had me and my brothers there wasn't such a thing as ultrasound, let alone a website like this!

You are right, I am feeling great now I am into the second trimester. I am still trying to get used to my expanding waist line, but happy to think that it must mean my baby is growing as he/she should be. Hey, I even managed to play the piano for 1/2 an hour last night! Things seem to be good at the moment x

sparklyval - Saturday, 26 April
Hope you are feeling ok today? I am at work - I have to do one Saturday every 6-7 weeks. Typically the Saturdays I have to work are the sunniest and warmest days all year, and today is no exception! The sun has finally appeared and it is a lovely day....I am stuck at work until 5pm! At least the girls have gone out for the day with their dad, so they will be having a great time!
I remember that stage of pregnancy, where suddenly even maternity clothes won't fit any more...its not funny! By the end of my last pregnancy I think only one pair of jeans and a few baggy tops would fit...I was sick of wearing them by the time Kate arrived!
Swimming is lovely when you are pregnant isn't it? The water supports the weight of the baby and you don't notice it at all. Its just when you get out of the pool that suddenly the weight you have been carrying unnoticed hits you and you feel so heavy! I bet you found the swimming really relaxing.
I had piano lessons until I was about 15 and got to grade 5 level. I love to play and really miss having the time to do so at the moment...I am going to try very hard to make time so that I can play for the baby!
Yes, I have been feeling the baby move around every day, although not all the time at the moment. The movements are stronger than they were and it is very reassuring when I notice them. You are right about missing them when the baby is born. I found that with both pregnancies and it will be harder this time because there won't be any thought of 'til the next time I have a baby'. 3 children will be our lot!
I don't have any preference as to the sex of the baby, but I guess I am hoping for my husband's sake that it is a boy....can you imagine my husband having to share the house with 4 females! We have decided to ask about the sex of the baby when we have the 20 week scan done in a few weeks time. Although, we have also decided not to tell the children as they will probably tell EVERYONE if we do! It is nice for there to still be some kind of surprise when the baby is born!
Must get a bit of work done! Enjoy the weekend, speak to you soon, Valx

missannie - Thursday, 24 April
i agree.... i'm running out of clothes that fit!!! when you first buy maternity clothes you assume they'll work the entire pregnancy.... HAHA i wish. and work clothes are the worst!!! no big tshirts and sweat pants lol. to make matters worse, my job announced this week that we're changing our dress codes completely starting may 1st. so the clothes i HAVE managed to get won't work anymore, and i hate to buy new work clothes that will only fit for 3 or 4 weeks. how rediculous!!!! anyways, hope everything else is going well for you! take care!

sparklyval - Wednesday, 23 April
Hi! You sounded a little bit down in your message, so I am sending you a big smiley face to cheer you up! :-) The last few weeks of pregnancy are always really tough. It is difficult to get comfortable sitting down and sleeping, and walking about can be very tiring, carrying the extra weight. Your body has a whole person to support, so you are bound to feel much more tired than normal. I think pregnant women are entitled to be grumpy! It is also harder when you are working and have another child to take care of...4/5 year olds can still be quite demanding even though they are more understanding and sympathetic than younger children. I worked up until 10 days before Kate was born, Bethan was almost 4 at the time, and I remember feeling very tired. I was relieved to finish work in the end (and so were my colleagues who were preparing themselves for me to give birth at work - lol!)
Maybe a little bit of time out for yourself would make you feel a bit better? I have been trying to get back into reading a bit more. I used to read such a lot, but it has been very hard to find the time since having children. I also love to play the piano, and although we have one in the house it must be over 2 years since I sat down and played anything properly.
Hey, but you are right - not long to go! Your baby could arrive any time now. Were you early or late with your daughter? My girls both arrived a couple of days after their due date, so I think I will be here for the duration!
Keep smiling! Take care x

Yes, I know how lucky I am being able to have such a long period of time on maternity leave - I am going to make the most of it! My (male) boss was quite shocked to find that I could take so long off! He was expecting me to return to work not too long after Christmas (LOL!)
Working 12 hours a week means that you will still get plenty of time with the baby. Part-time is the perfect family/work balance - enough to keep the brain stimulated, but plenty of time for the special times with the children..at least that is how I feel. I work 17 hours, so just a bit more than you do and I seem to thrive on the variety that my life gives me.
I can't remember how much weight I gained in my previous pregnancies, it seems so long ago now! I was huge though - and people very kindly told me so, and took pleasure in saying 'wow you are carrying low'! Still, my girls were 9lbs, 3oz and 8 lbs, 14 - so it was no surprise! I am short and not exactly what you would call big, so it looked like I was expecting twins! I know what you mean about staying under your husband's weight - but I can afford to put on 4 stone and still not catch him up (he is very tall, hence the big babies I guess).
I am so glad I found this website...I wish I had come across something like this when I was pregnant first time. Thank you for taking the time to write. Its amazing to hear from people like you who have so much in common despite living so far away. Best wishes x
