Hey everyone!! Congrats to all the pregnant mamas! I'm a first time mom and I'm sooo excited. My fiance and I have been together for almost five years, and we decided that it was the right time to start a family. I'm a hairstylist in a small town, and since there are a lot of chemicals at my work we decided that it would be best for me to take an early leave. Maybe I worry a little too much, but I figure its better than not worrying enough.
So, just as some background history... I tend to worry more than the typical pregnant lady (at least I feel like I do sometimes) does. I think most of it is because when my mom was pregnant with me she had a few complications. From the time she was three months pregnant she bled a lot (not just spotting). She would have to drive to San Francisco once a month to see a couple different doctors. They told her that I had Spina Bifida, water on the brain. They told her early on that she should have an abortion because no matter what I would not have a normal life. Thanks to my mom she decided to have me no matter how hard it could potentially be on the both of us. So when she finally had me at 7 1/2 months (I was only 4lbs 3oz) they had no explanation of what could have caused her problems. So right away when I got pregnant all of those things came to mind.
So far my pregnancy has been an eventful one. I have been so lucky that I didn't get morning sickness much in my first trimester. I could probably count on one hand how many times I threw up. I did feel nauseous though. But my big concern was that at my second month I did start spotting. It was a lot like my mom had described, but it did last a few days. I just told myself it was because I was supposed to have my period. Then the next month I had it again, but a few more days. Then I blamed it on intercourse. During my fourth month it continued. (keep in mind, I did tell my doctor, and he has yet to be concerned. I take that as a good thing.) The difference with my fourth month was that on March 25 I woke up feeling nauseous, and I ended up throwing up blood. Since I was home alone I freaked out and called my mom. So we rushed to the hospital. After hours of tests and questioning, they said I either broke a blood vessel from caughing too hard or I had viral infection. I was just glad that my baby was okay. But through all the testing they found out that my magnesium level was low. And if my blood pressure goes up then I run the risk of having preeclampsia. The doctor at the hospital said I should take magnesium pills to make up for it, and also pills that will keep me from throwing up. When I went to my OBGYN he said I don't need it, and he didn't even really check anything. So I don't know if I should be upset about it or just not even worry about it at all. And if that isn't enough, I pretty much fainted about a week ago when I was in the shower. My sister in law says that fainting can be caused by high blood pressure. I have had a lot on my mind, but I'm doing pretty good not stressing out. I'm just pigging out! I can't stop eating, and I have to say I'm enjoying that sooo much. I only weighed about 100 lbs before I got pregnant so I'm looking forward to gaining some more weight. More....
