i'm in the states and i rented a doppler from babybeat.com. it's similar to what bunnyintheoven said. $49 us a month and if you keep renting it for long enough the fees become a purchase. honestly, the doppler they rent isnt the best. its 2mhz and is pretty fuzzy. the only way i can tell if i found the heartbeat is by looking at the digital heartrate readout, if it's around 150 then i know its the baby, but it's really not that clear. still kinda fun, not always reassuring. i imagine it gets clearer as the baby gets bigger though. earlier in my pregnancy i was really worried and did some research, and the 3mhz ones are much better, you can hear things clearer etc--they're the ones doctors use... you can get those through stork radio-they might actually be cheaper too--but you need permission from your doctor. anyway, congratulations!

Hi, re dopplers baby-beats.co.uk rent them for £19.99/month and after 5 months/payments the dopplers yours, I'm going to be renting one shortly. My hubby's made me wait as i'm so anxious all the time he thought it mite send me completly round the twist. Hope that helps. Heaps of baby dust!!!

I will try it.! I talk to my doctor and he told me just to take folic acid for now and a regular multivitamin with little iron and once I star to feel better star with the pre-natals again. :-O)

Thankyou I know exactly what you mean, sometimes I have to battle with myself about looking stuff up on the internet. You just read so many conflicting stories and its really easy to worry. I go 2morrow for my first appt, I really wanna see the heartbeat so I can just relax. By the way you are due one day before me. I will let you know how it goes 2morrow

Ha! I've been considering going a step further than just throwing out the scale --I think I may tell the nurses that they can weigh me but not to tell me the weight! I can stand on the scale backwards! I wonder if many people do that? I'm just so sick of knowing how much I've gained. I tend to obsess over it!

Hi there, hope all turns out well. I honestly don't know what the actual fluid measured at,I know it was low but it turned out great,they will usually keep an eye on it for now,they can replenish the fluid if they need to,and chances are the worst case is that you are induced a couple weeks early,my kids were both 5# 10 oz and healthy as can be.I see by your due date it wouldn't be too bad to have baby a bit early huh?
