Payden and Aubrees Mom - Tuesday, 4 November
I have no idea. My kids are in daycare, and before that my mom kept Payden, so I wouldn't know what to ask. Sorry.....

no problem. when i was in high school i did 2yrs of a childhood program teaching 3-4yr olds. and it was required that we be certified in CPR. which really does come in handy! even as a student we had to go thru backround checks to determine if we would even be allowed to work with the kids. and some of the students weren't and we're kicked out the class. you just have to remember somewhere down the line your child will get attached to their caregiver and you want to make sure you have the best role model!!

Oh-i remember the first time i had to do that with my first child. It was the hardest thing in the world (besides actually taking him there everyday). Just try and get to know the person as best you can-like you want to be best friends. Once you start asking questions the info will probly start flowing and you will get a sense of the person. Good Luck!

questions for child carer....(BTW I am a registered childminder so these are questions I would expect to be asked....)

1. do you smoke
2.do you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to care for my child i.e epilepsy, athsma, or something like that.
3.do you hold a clean driving licence/ are you insured to drive for business reasons.
4.How long have you been caring for children.
5. do you have any first aid qualifications.
6. do you have any childcare qualifications.
7.do you have the names of people who can give references.
8.What kind of holidays do you take/expect to be paid for
9.what is the notice required to end contract (both parties)
10.Are you registered with any kind of authorities to be a child carer.
11. do you have any criminal convictions.
12.Do you have a disclosure ( in the uk this is a certificate to say that a check has been run on the person to say they are safe to work with children)

re your child.....

1. how would you reward positive behavior/deal with negative behaviour.
2. What kind of activities would you do with my child to stimulate them and teach them things.
3. What would you do if my child had an accident or was to become very sick.
4.Would you contact the parents to inform them before administering any medication, and record the dose and time given.
5.What would you do to aid the settling in period...ie..short trial periods, favourite stories,songs...work out a routine..
6.would you take my child to the swimming pool or toddler groups etc.
7.What is it about looking after children that you enjoy.
8.How much experience of children at this age do you have.
9. why did you leave your last place of employment
10. tell me about the children you have cared for before...(look for enthusiasm and and a big smile as they re-count a funny story etc)

I'm still thinking...lol....ask me any questions you want....trust your gut instinct...watch the chemistry between the candidate and your child...look closely at their body language and for good eye contact, confidence when holding your baby....you will just get 'a feeling' about the right person.....good luck honey!...let me know how you get on....xxx

Awwww...poor baby. I hope the physical therapy helps her. How are things with you other than that? I'm so busy I can barely get on here anymore, I feel out of the loop!
