Finally getting this wrote....
The morning of the 2nd I went to sleep a little before 2 a.m. I woke up briefly when my husband came to bed, and when I shifted positions I noticed my belly felt uncomfortable but I went back to sleep. I woke up again a little after 4 a.m. and it was much more uncomfortable and sort of crampy feeling. I got up and went to the restroom thinking maybe I just really have to pee. It did not go away. Than I ate some cereal after that to see if I was hungry. Still did not go away. Sometime in this time period my back really started to hurt and I noticed the pain was not continues, but would come and go. I had had “fake contractions" off and on for a week or two so I was not sure if it was real. I decided to take a shower to see if it helped it go away. They felt worse. It was now about 4:30. I got dressed and waited a while longer. When they seemed to be about 7 minutes apart I woke Beau up and made him time the contractions. This was at 5:13 a.m. They stayed 7 minutes for about half an hour but than they started to come at 5 minutes. We called the hospital and told us to wait an hour and if they continue at 5 minutes for an hour to go ahead and come in. So around 6:45 we locked the dog in his cage and left for the hospital. At this time the contractions were getting stronger (still able to keep standing through them) and they were 4 to 5 minutes apart. On the way there Beau missed the exit and had to turn around. He was so nervous it was cute! We got to the hospital and the maternity ward and when we walked up to the counter Beau said “we are here to have a baby". They got me in a room and took my temp and blood pressure and monitored the contractions and the baby's heart beat. They checked me and I was at 3 cms and 80% effaced. It was around 8 by this time. Beau than called his parents to let them know it was happening. The doctor arrived at about 9:30 to check me, and Beau's parents came around the same time. I was now 4cms and 90 % so the doctor went ahead and broke the water. It did not hurt at all. The labor continued and not to much after that I reached 5 cms and 100% effaced. The contractions were probably 2 to 3 minutes at this part. It was probably between 11and noon by this time. Within the next few hours I reached 7 cms but stayed there for a few hours. I was getting mild pain killers every hour or so at this time but I was told once I reached 8 that they would stop. By 4:30 my contractions were very strong and only a minute or so apart. I was getting very tired. Beau was great the whole time and held my hand and helped me breath through them. Lots of women do breathing patterns but I found that did not work for me so I counted, focusing on this spot on the ceiling and on the numbers. I figured you have to breathe to talk but conversation was not possible during contractions. Somewhere between 4:30 and 5 I decided to get an epidural. I thought it would hurt but the contractions were so painful I did not even feel the needle at all. I felt relief from the pain in minutes. For the first time since early that morning my back was not in agony. I could breathe again because all I was feeling was pressure every minute or so. I wanted to push down so badly but was told not to. It was hard to wait. . I quickly moved to 8 cms and than to 9 almost ten. Than around 6 I was allowed to start pushing. I spent the next half hour with just Beau the nurse and I in the room and around maybe 6:30 the doctor got there and pushing was hard. It hurt a lot even with epidural. Yes, I was screaming the last few minutes. They were using suction because I would push and she would move forward but when I stopped she would slide back a little. This was not getting her out though and I was exhausted. The doctor than did an episiotomy, and was able to pull her out. The nurse said “do you want to see the head" and I said “No, just get it out!" Than they pulled her out the rest of the way and laid her on me. She came out at 6:53 p.m. I was so tired and weak (and in pain) that I was not focusing on her. Beau was though and snapping lots of pictures. I did not have an instant feeling of bliss many women talk about; I just stared at her as I tried to catch my breath. They took her away to wipe her off and check her out. While they did this the doctor finished up with me and I was able to sit back and drink some water and all. When they gave her back to me I was much more receptive to her pretty baby -ness able to focus on her. The grandparents than got to come in and see her. I stayed up most of that night with her because she did not want to be sat down. She slept for hours on my chest while Beau slept. I was exhausted but I did not care because holding her was so wonderful and I could do nothing but thank god for this beautiful gift he gave me.

My name is Sarah and I am due early January. It says on here that I am due the 5th because my ultrasound around the 5th/6th week predicted January 5th but the one I had at 10 weeks said January 2nd. Since I had already told everyone January 5th I'm sticking to it although I think this baby is coming earlier than that. This is my first and my husband and I are very excited.

A little more about me.... I was born in Indiana but I grew up in Georgia and consider myself a southern girl. I am currently living in California and not really liking it. My husband and I are both military/ Army. He is an active duty psychological operations specialist and I am a reserve Military intelligence officer. In my civilian career I work for a Girl Scout council as a progran coordinator right now but I am transitioning to a different job title as our council merges with another. My degree is in Psychology but I'm not doing much with it right now. hmmm.. when I think of more I will write more. Thanks for reading!

Try to do it as gradually as possible. Eliminate one feeding each day for several days to allow your milk supply to decrease slowly. After a couple of weeks, he should be down to nursing just a couple of times a day. Usually the last feedings to go are the first one in the morning, and the last one at night. If you’re not in a huge rush, you may want to continue these couple of feeding for another week or two.......It took my a long time i tried every nipple on the shelf before my oldest one took a bottle i think stopping breastfeeding was the hardest thing with my baby

Hi Sarah, The only thing that I could recommend for weaning the baby, would be the playtex drop in bottles :) If you start to pump and feed your little girl pumped breast milk, then after she gets used to a bottle, then you can try to add formula to the bottle. You may have to play around with mixing the formula and the breast milk about 50-50. start offering the bottle every day and it will take time, but eventually she will stop rejecting it and then she will take it :) I really hope this helps you, and good luck in the army...

That picture of her sleeping w/daddy is ADORABLE!!! I have one just like that of my husband and our daughter! Is that not one of the best feelings? Seeing them holding their little girls and sleeping! I just love it! Congratulations! She is adorable and I love all of her dark hair!! :)

Just reading your messages. I find that my little Sophiah likes to be swaddle. Like in the hospital. I can get a little done when she is sleeping wrapped that way.

I feel your pain about the housework. It seems like my life revolves around a set of obligations, one after another, when all I'd really like to do is sleep and play with my baby. Everyone else is happy to play with the baby except when its time to go to bed. And no one seems to know what to do with dirty dishes, floors, clothes, etc.... Yes, I agree--keeping up with everything is overwhelming!

Hi there and congrats ! my son is 8 weeks old and has has a little cold/stuffy nose since he was 5 dys old! it is hard since there is not a whole lot you can do for them, i did and still do lots of saline drops like 3 squirts in each nostril and suck out his nose often...also keep them inclined seems to help a little and a cool mist humidifier :) good luck it is stressful for us when they are all stuffed up

Things are great with me! I am now a full time stay at home mom...my job did end up shutting down this week so there is nothing for me to go back to, thats the way construction works though. I am enjoying it so far though and Braiden is a great baby he just has his nights and days all mixed up so I would not make it to work on time if I had to I think it benefits my other 2 boys to have mom at home too!! How are things going with you and madison? How are you feeling? I hope to see pics!!! Talk to you later!!! :-)

oh there is a virus that is called shingles. My dad had that it was like red bumps every where and really itchy and you feel really bad. Its common, its similar to the chicken pocks virus. I hope you feel better soon.

brookesmom - Wednesday, 23 Jan
Oh Sarah I am sorry you are going thru this thats awful. My daughter had severe eczema for a year, it was terrible, anyway I was think tho, did you switch laundry detergents recently? I hope u find out soon.

Hi Sarah - I wonder if you have a delayed case of PUPP? I started breaking out with it a few days before I delivered, and it spiraled out of control once I got home. I basically had a horrible rash all over the bottom half of my body for two weeks. I took Benadryl pills (at my docs recommendations) and I put - I know this sounds weird - Boudreaux's Butt Paste on it several times a day. Maybe do an internet search for PUPP and see if it sounds like what you have. It usually starts right before delivery and resolves within a few weeks, so I'm not sure if the timing is right, but I can definitely relate to your itchiness!

Hello. i just read ur post about the pacifier.. i too am against them, well i got a few as shower gifts and had them stored away. well i have to admit when my daughter was a few weeks old one night she was soo fussy and i was about ready to scream so i decided to give her the pacifier well it seemed to calm her down and she fell asleep. (when it did clam her down , i started crying b/c i really wanted her to hate it and spit it out of her mouth) well after that night i only tired to give it to her like 2 more times .. only when she was really fussy. well my daughter is 3 1/2 months old now and if you give her a pacifier she will spit it out.. always. she has no interest in it. So i say just hold off as long as you can maybe give it to her those few moments were you feel like everything is going totally crazy and she just won't stop crying. She won't relie on it to comfort her. Ok well I hope this helps. hang in there, It gets easier, I promise.

MelissaBNJ - Monday, 21 Jan
Hi, I read your post about the pacifier situation. I too was one of those moms that said no way to the pacifier. I bought a couple just in case and ended up using it when she was very fussy from gas pain. I now have come to realize that if it is going to soothe her when she is in pain and comfort her than it is worth using. I don't give it to her constantly as a way to keep her from crying. I walk with her and sing songs to her..etc. Sometimes it does help though, so don't feel bad :o)

Sarah, That is so frustrating especially nursing. I use a humidifier and let her sleep in the car seat so she is upright. They do have some nose drops that are saline but call your doctor first to see if that is okay to use. Good luck I hate it when they get sick.

Lakesha Smith - Saturday, 12 Jan
I would go buy the new baby Vicks Vapor Rub,and rub a pinch on her nose,it always worked for my kids!

DanielleF - Saturday, 12 Jan
Try putting some saline drops in her nose and suctioning it out with a bulb suringe. It worked for my little girl. Does she have alot of mucous in her nose and nostrils? If not, my little girl got congested but did not have much mucous and I got a humidifer and ran it around the clock and this cleared up hers. Just a thought. I hope this helps.

Congrats on your baby girl! It's all so exciting, isn't it? I didn't have an episiotomy but I did tear slightly and had to have stitches. I don't know if you were told but you aren't supposed to take a bath, insert anything in the vagina (no intercourse, no using tampons..etc) for 6 weeks. As far as bleeding, everyone is different but most women bleed for 4-8 weeks. Hope this helps :o) Feel free to post me with any other questions and if I can help I definitely will.
