Katelynn Claire is Here!
Birth Story
I was supposed to be induced to have Katelynn on Tuesday August 21st at 6AM. Well, she decided to make her grand entrance a day earyly. I woke up on Monday at 9:30 to a slight pop sensation, I told Matt that I had either wet myself or my water broke. I called the doctor's office and they told me to come in. I got there about 10:30 no contractions just wet and feeling pretty gross. My doctor was off so I saw the NP that was on duty, she swabbed my leg, and the lovely little strip turned blue. I was dialated to a 4 so they sent me down the hall to be admitted. I got into my room, and they started a saline IV, checked me at noon and I was dialated to a 5 so they started the pitocin. When the started the pitocin at 4:00 they gave me the epidural (I wasn't feeling any pain at the time, but they wanted to make sure and get it started early.) I stopped dialating at a 5 once I received the epidural I told all the nurses and the anestitician that only my right leg was numb, from there over I could feel everything. They turned the pitocin up to 30 and I started feeling alot of pain, I remember at one point telling the nurse to just knock me out and do a c-section (this was at 9:45 the doctor had just come in and said that since I stopped dialating at a 5 then they were going to consider it.) She ordered them to redo my epidural, the guy got there at 9:50, as soon as they pulled it out of my back the pain was gone in my stomach and I went from a 5 to a 10 in 5 minutes. I started pushing at 10:00 and Katelynn was born at 10:10. They put her right on my chest and Matt cut the cord. I had a 3rd degree tear from the episiodimy(?). They doctor's and nurses said that she looked like a c-section baby because she did not have a cone head, she wasn't in the birth canal long enough which was great for her. They kept telling me how beautiful she was, and she has lovely blonde hair and blue eyes. They didn't even take her to the nursery they left her in my room until about 1:30 when I asked for something to help me sleep and Matt went home. It was nice because they brought her back to me at 5:30 the next morning wide awake.
I erased everything on my page, I decided now that Katelynn is here I should start her baby page, instead of leaving all my pregnancy information. If any one has any questions however about gestational diabetes, please feel free to ask me, I will let you know what my experience was with it.

Katelynn is 10-days-old today. Matt and I took her to the doctor because she has had some discharge in her eye since I brought her home from the hospital. It started in her right eye, and wasn't that bad, but then it spread to her left eye and the discharge became worse. I took her temperature last night to see if she had a fever and scheduled an appointment with the doctor to take her in this afternoon, because originally I though that it was just the jaundice leaving her eye. The doctor said my poor baby has viral conjuctivitis (or pink eye). I have to put cream in her eye four times a day, and take her temperature everyday just to make sure it doesn't get worse. They did blood work and everything came back okay. I am so paranoid, of course because this is my first baby. I worry because she gets the hiccups alot, but she got them alot when I was pregnant with her. I asked the doctor about it but she didn't seem worried.

Well, all the baby books say not to put your baby on their side, but Katelynn if I put her on her back rolls onto her side. Her pink eye is getting better, and she is starting to get a little chunk to her face it is so cute. She is eating like crazy, she really has her daddy's appetite she eats two ounces almost every hour. Our very skiddish dog Lyla has decided that Katelynn is her baby, and I am not doing a good enough job. It is so cute. She goes behind me to make sure the baby is okay, she pulls the blankey onto the baby. I am so glad that she is so protective of the baby.

Katelynn is getting so big. She already weighs over 9 pounds and has grown at least an inch. We have a doctor's appointment next week so we will find out for sure. Her Baby Einstein blocks are recalled so I am going to have to call some number in order to get a replacement block. Good thing she is to little to play with them still otherwise I probably would have thrown a fit. She is really turning into a daddy's girl now that I have gone back to work. She sleeps in the bed in her bouncy chair with him because otherwise she is up all night. I had her last night because I was off yesterday and today and sure enough if she wasn't in her bouncy chair she cried and fussed. Matt's dad and his new wife were supposed to come this weekend to meet Katelynn but Ruth got hit by a car when she was in a parking garage and she had to have surgery on Thursday. She got really lucky that she didn't break any bones her hip just kept slipping out of socket so they are going to have to replace it. We will see them on Thanksgiving though. I still have to decide what Katelynn is going to be for Halloween. I have looked everywhere and there really are not alot of cute baby costumes, although Target does have some really cute baby fairy ones.

She did it! and of course was not to happy about it. Katelynn just rolled from her belly onto her back. We will see how long it takes for her to roll from her back to her belly. I cannot believe she is almost 2 months old.
she is beautiful, congrats. |
