January 24th (Birth Story)
I went in for my induction. I was about 4cm and 70% effaced when I went in. We started the IV at about 6AM and I started having contractions not long after. I used IV painkillers for a few hours in the early stages of labor, then when it started getting to be too painful for the painkillers to take the edge off of, I got my epidural. The epidural was amazing. It wasn`t painful at all to get and once it was done, I could barely even tell I was having a contraction. It was great for the pain of the contractions, but once the pain of the contractions came with the bad pressure towards the end, it was pretty painful. The pressure from the urge to push was terrible, I had never felt anything even remotely comparable in my life. Once the urge to push got bad enough, I called the nurse and she checked me and I was 8cm and about 90% effaced. Within 20 minutes of that, the urge to push was unbarable and I called her in and I was then complete and we did a couple of test pushes. On those 2 pushes, her heart rate was dropping during the pushing so she called my OB and told her to come right then. She was only across the street so she got there in about 5 minutes and we started pushing again, within 3 contractions, she was out. She had to be assisted by the vacuum and I had to have an episiotomy and was also torn from her coming out. She needed to be taken out quickly because her cord was around her neck. She was born at 1:49PM. Once she was out, she let out a few little cries and they put her over in her little area to get checked and cleaned up a little bit. The doctor called in ANOTHER doctor and got a headlamp thing to use because the stitch job they had to do was so big. They don`t count the stitches they use at the hospital, but they both said that they had to use A LOT of stitches. I was being stitched for a good 20-30 minutes. I got to hold Marley for a little while they were stitching me up. Her face was a little bruised up from her rough journey out, but she is absolutely beautiful. The pain/soreness from the episiotomy and tears is pretty bad, but I have painkillers to help. I know everyone always says this, but it`s totally worth all of the pain. The bruising went away within a day and she`s now home with me after our 2 day (standard for vaginal delivery) stay. She`s gorgeous and she`s a great little baby girl.

Today was nice. Had my ultrasound. Found out she's measuring at about 5lbs 1oz. The technician said that's right in the 50th percentile, so she's a nice, average-sized baby. Her heart rate is also normal at 125bmp. Everything looked/sounded good. We checked again and she is definitely a girl. I'm glad about that, I was always worried she'd come out with an extra 'limb'. :P
Aside from that, I only gained 3lbs in 4 weeks, which is nice since I gained too much last week. heh.
No blood in my urine, meaning my kidney infection is gone. I guess the total of 10 grams of antibiotics I had to take over those 5 days back from the hospital did their job.
The technician said she has a lot of hair. So she said she'll feel free to bring the hair barrettes and what-not to delivery because she'll have a full head of hair heh.
Anyways, that's about it. Not a whole lot to talk about or complain about. I'm not feeling too bad, just a little bit of back soreness, but nothing too terrible.
Have a good day/night. :D
November 29th
Time for an update :).
I just got back from the hospital on Monday night. I was there since Saturday. I had severe pain on my left side that would come in waves and got worse and worse throughout the day. So I went into the ER, they brought me up to L&D. Once I was there, they did a bunch of tests, checked everything out, etc. The baby was fine and they weren't entirely certain about the pain, but they thought it was a kidney infection probably so they hooked me up to IV fluids (I was mildly dehydrated) and antibiotics, then they kept giving me Vicodin through the night for the pain.
The doctor came in the next morning and came to the conclusion that I had a kidney infection caused by kidney stones. They did the renal ultrasound and found that I had a few stones hanging out in there heh. Anyways, the pain went away awhile before the stone came out. I was kept on IV antibiotics until shortly before I was finally released late Monday night.
Now I just have to take 500mg of antibiotics (Keflex) 4 times a day for the next 5 days to rid myself completely of the infection. All in all, i'm glad it was nothing wrong with baby and that it was just my kidneys having issues. But man... that is some excruciating pain when the kidney stones are making their way through your system. Since i've heard from tons of people that the pain from kidney stones is on par with the pain from hard labor, I guess this was just a dress rehearsal so now I know how painful it'll be. heh.
At least for labor i'll have an epidural though. I also got to feel how the IV in my hand will feel, not too good, I was informed by the lovely nurse that the needle they use for when you're in labor is bigger than the one she put into me since the one for labor has to be large enough for a blood transfusion incase of an emergency. They always tell you things you don't want to know.
Anyways, this is getting really long so i'll work on cutting this off now.
OH! My ultrasound for the baby was supposed to be on Monday as well, but since I was in the hospital, we had to push it back a week. So on this upcoming Monday, i'll finally have more pictures of baby to put on my page.
Hope everyone has a good day/night.

I had my appointment about a week ago. Not a lot to update on. The glucose test wasn't so bad, the orange stuff did have a horrible aftertaste though. I donno the results of it, but there haven't been any calls or anything telling me I need to come in for the 3 hour test, so that's good I suppose. I have an ultrasound on the 26th :). I'm excited. I get to see her again.
Other than that... life is alright. Not too much going on here. The weather is getting nice and chilly, which I like. I was really sick and tired of the heat. I'm not a heat person. Family's doing good. My babies (dog and cats) are doing well. Spoiled as ever. Baby's daddy still a pain and a major thorn in my side. I found out he's dealing ecstacy now. Which aside from just being stupid in general, is really irresponsible to be doing if he wants to be in Marley's life. No way am I going to allow him in her life if he keeps messing with drugs like that. But oh well. His choice.
Sooo that's basically it. I hope everyone else is having a good day/night/week/pregnancy/etc. :D
Have a good night.
October 3rd
I had my appointment today. Everything seems to be going pretty well. I gained some pounds. I donno what the total is so far. I think it's around 15lbs, though. heh. Which worries me about how much I will gain over the next 3 months or so. Anyways, she said that the baby's heartbeat sounds excellent, that's good. Everything is positioned where it should be, etc. So there's really nothing to report on there, thankfully. I have to come back in 4 weeks for my glucose tolerance test. That doesn't sound like fun. I hear the stuff you drink is syruppy and extremely sweet. I'm bad with swallowing anything syruppy in consistancy. When i'd get colds i'd avoid syrups and go for the robutussin gel capsuls. Buuut, i'll just have to suck it up I suppose. I hope the person who draws my blood this time is different. The last time I had my blood drawn was juuussttt when I let my guard down about it. I shouldn't have apparently because I could definitely feel it that time. Oh well, though. Can't get the good ones all the time I suppose.
I'm still recovering a little from the DC trip we took. I guess after all of those days of walking around and seeing the sites, it's nice to just be able to sit and relax. It was a really good vacation though. I'm glad we got to go.
Tomorrow I have to get started on cleaning my bedroom though. It's terribly messy to an insane extent. I need to get it cleaned while I still can. :)
Then after that, my mom and I are going to do the nursery. I'm excited about that, although I still haven't completely decided on the general theme of it. There are so many choices.
Anyways, that's all there really is to report on. The next time i'll update this will probably be after my glucose screening :/.
Have a good day/night.
September 7th
I guess I should start by telling a few things about myself. Well, i'm 17 years old. I'm a native of the Portland, Oregon area. My family and I had to move due to the closure of the Air Force Reserves base in Portland, my dad had to find a new job, and he found it 2,000 miles away. However, he's confident he'll have a job back in the Pacific Northwest within the next 2 years at the latest. That means i'll be getting to live back home which is amazing.
This was an unplanned pregnancy and isn't due to irresponsibility, rather due to a misplaced trust in birth control and happening to be one of the 2 or so % that it fails. But, i'm making the best of it now. The father and I broke up shortly after due to multiple allegations of him cheating and a major loss of love and attraction in general on my part. It wasn't a long relationship and it wouldn't have survived even without the pregnancy. My family and friends are all aware of the pregnancy. My mom has accepted it and is allowing herself to show some excitement about it now. My dad is still having a hard time with it and it'll probably remain the 'elephant in the room' around him until the baby is born.
About the baby, on Tuesday the 4th I found out that i'm having a healthy little girl. Her name will be Marley Rayann. I've always loved the name Marley, so that was an easy decision for the first name. The middle name is a combination of Ray (short for Raymond which is the middle name of my deceased grandpa. Her due date is ON what would be his birthday, so she'll be born around his birthday.) and Ann (my mom's middle name. I have her mom's middle name so it only made sense to pass her middle name onto my child.).
Anyways, I suppose that's all there is. I'll update this more as I see fit. :] Have a good day/night/etc.
how cute!!! |
