Just found out I'm pregnant with our 2nd miracle!!!!

28th August 08

I got my 1st appt at ante natal, and it's not till 29th September. My dates put me at around 5/6 weeks, but my belly is already popping out!! I know I had a stone to lose, so I wasn't exactly thin before, but now I'm trying to hold my stomach in somewhat and I'm finding it won't go in! So maybe I'll be telling my family and friends sooner than we discussed. Can't wait for my dating scan....

The bit below is about my 1st pregnancy with my beautiful little Joe

Hello everyone

I've been visiting this site for many weeks now and thought I'd become a member although there is not much longer to go now!

I'm 37 weeks and feeling rather uncomfortable this week, lack of sleep is getting to me so during the long sleepless nights its been a big help to come on this site and read everyone's comments, just knowing we are all having similar issues is a godsend.

A little about me.....I'm 40 years old and this is my first ever pregnancy. As early as I can remember I was always going to have children, I was the child who wanted to hold everyone's baby, I studied nursery nursing when I left school and I watched my friends and my brother and sister have families, but for me it was never to be. I gave up on the idea of being a mum and got on with life.

My last relationship ended badly after 13 years, I have been with my partner Glyn for almost three years now and I love this man to bits, we are very happy. Well, imagine my shock and surprise when for no apparent reason , I did a pregnancy test on 8th December 2006 which turned out to be positive!!! I did 2 more before I believed it! But even after being confirmed by the doctor I didn't really believe it, and when I started to bleed at 9 weeks I just thought it was still not to be, I went to hospital, and after being examined I was sent home and told to prepare for the worst....my cervix was slightly open, a sure sign of miscarriage.

Happily I didn't miscarry and here we are now at 37 weeks, looking forward to the birth of out little miracle! We found out we are having a boy and we couldn't be more excited!

So best wishes to you all.......not long to go now!!

39 weeks + 3 days

Still very proud mum to be here, I love my bump, I love my baby and I love my man. I do just want to have our baby now though! Week 39 is a killer......Tired, sensitive, anxious, uncomfortable, moody, sore..................

I'm starting to have some signs now which is good, I was beginning to think I'd be pregnant forever! He seemed quite happy to just be inside. And I'm happy for him to be there really, until he's ready (can't wait!).

40wks 1 day (8th August 07)

Week 40 is better......not as moody this week, although the anxiety levels have crept up a bit! Had no signs this week that baby is due. No 'show', or BH or anything other than general huge-ness!! If nothing has happened by Friday I go to the hospital, I presume they will discuss how long I go over before inducing me?! Baby is still very active, even though he must be very squashed in there by now! Come on my little Joe.......start making your way out son!!!

40+4 (11th August 07)

I go in to be induced on 17th August if bambino hasn't made it by himself by then! So next weekend we'll have our baby!!! I'm having no signs so I think I will have to be induced. I have a feeling this is gonna be a big baby. Hopefully not too big or none of his clothes will fit, I got mostly newborn/first size stuff. :-)

18th August 07 - My baby was born!

Joe arrived 26 hours after being induced! I had an epidural in the end as labour was so long and I was exhausted, but managed to have a natural birth after a bit of help from ventouse suction to get him going. He's perfect and gorgeous and I cried when they handed him to me. The midwives and doctors were fantastic, I mean really fantastic. It's so good to have our baby home now, I can't stop looking at him and kissing him. It's impossible to describe the feeling....it's just amazing.

Poor Joe...teeth are a horrible pain arn't they...Jacobs been Just the same..he didn't eat his dinner today and got the runs..he's dribbling constantly and grumpy too..he's biting everything..including me...when he was crying I could see right in his mouth..and his gum on his right on the bottom is sooooo swollen and it looks massive..god knows what it feels like to him..everything feels that much more painful and bigger in the mouth..I mean if I bite my cheek or tounge..it feels sooo sore and massive..like you've bit a chunk out..and it's actually the size of your tastebud..lol..our poor babys and the damn teeth..oh tell you what works well...Anbesol..it's a liquid teething stuff..you don't need much and it's behind the counter..i've used it twice on Jacob..and that's when he's been real bad with his teeth..and it works strait away..(i tryed it..makes your mouth go numb like at the dentist when they put that liqud stuff in..lol)..ashton and parsons do a good teething powder that's all natural..right bed time I think..absolutely shattered..good luck..and great news on little bub..keep me posted..Xxxx

I was going to mention that pineapple could also make his mouth sore, I ate a lot of it when I was past my due date to try and induce labor :-) and after the first bowl my mouth actually hurt. You could see if he'll eat bananas too as they'll help keep him more regular. I hope those teeth pop through soon so all of you can get some sleep!!!!

littlecavalier - Tuesday, 2 September
I cried a little this morning but mostly because my husband's Grandma (who honestly was more excited about Travis than I was, which is HUGE because all I've ever wanted is to be a mom!) passed away at the beginning of the year and it's sad to celebrate things without her. She was the life of the party and the center of his family so we think about her often. I think I feel ok about it now, although almost a little in shock that he's really one :-).

littlecavalier - Tuesday, 2 September
Thank you!!!! You are right on time! How is Joe doing??

Ema uk - Sunday, 31 August
awww..so cute ..with his little hand all intregued and stuff..xx

Ema uk - Sunday, 31 August
lol..I don't know how you've kept it quiet this long..haha..I told everybody when I did the test..lol..the first time I told everyone strait away..then I had a MC at 3 months..and everybody said.."well I suppose you won't tell anybody so earlie the next time round" and I thought..well why wouldn't I..I mean at least then if everyone knows then they'll understand why I was devistated..and be more sympathetic and not put there foot in it..where as if no one knows why your being like that..then they might just get fed up of the way I was acting..(you know what I mean)..when I get pregnant again..i'll be ringing everyone..haha..just try to shut me up...lol..so how are you feeling?...and how's Joe doing?..I suppose he won't understand just yet that there's a tiny little new person in that belly of yours.. ...right gotta get on..talk to ya soon..Xxxxx

littlecavalier - Sunday, 31 August
Awwwww! You take the best pictures of him! I love the precious little face he's making.

littlecavalier - Saturday, 30 August
Thank you! He really is a character, I always joke that he's going to be the class clown because when we're out he's forever trying to get strangers to pay attention to him and laugh at him. My husband and I are pretty goofy so he comes by it honestly :-).

Tilly - Friday, 29 August
Oh, I just saw your new pics. Wow, he has grown!! Looks like he had a very good birthday! He's a proper little boy in that new profile pic. Awww, he's so cute.

Tilly - Friday, 29 August
Yeah, we're really excited about our nights away next week, although quite apprehensive about leaving Cormac for the first time too. But we know he'll be in safe hands. So today is my last day in work before a (much-needed) two-week break. Yippeee! Take care!

Ema uk - Wednesday, 27 August
haha..yeah love stripes..lol...I don't know why..think they were a pregnancy symptom I had..seen as I wasn't bothered about stripes before..then I got pregnant..and everything was stripy..lol..I also got a weird thing for sparkly things when I was pregnant too..lol.. And what you described is the one thing I don't know how i'd cope with..(the last tri..when you haven't had sleep for about a month ) and you can't function and there's going to be a toddler running around destroying things and your too big to stop them or chase after them and pick them up..lol..it was hard enough looking after the dog when I was pregnant..let alone a toddler.... good luck..keep me posted..lol..i'm keeping everything crossed for ya..Xxx

Abigails mommy - Wednesday, 27 August
SueUK, our ped also said to try to get Abigail off the bottle by 1year. So about 10.5 months we started mixing formula with Vitamin D milk every so often and giving it to her in a sippy cup. And by 11 months she was totally on the sippy cup. Now when we wake up about 6am we give her a milk sippy cup (containing her vitamins) with cheerios, then about 8am feed her oatmeal (not baby and she can eat it all!) or pancakes, then lunch usually peanut butter n jelly sandwich, and for supper whatever we're having or whatever she'll eat hehe. She loves milk and I usually give her a bottle with her oatmeal and water, juice (watered down) or even more milk during the day. About an hour before bed I give her another 10-12 oz sippy of milk and she sleeps from 7pm to 6am. Hope that helps a little. Congrats on your pregnancy too! We're ttc right now.

Tilly - Wednesday, 27 August
Thanks a MILLION for all that info. That was exactly the sort of stuff I wanted to know. I love our paed, but she's really laid back and her advice is alway so general ("Just give him what you're eating and he'll be fine..." - that kind of thing). And obviously what your nurse said about not giving too much milk so as not to surpress their appetite for solids makes perfect sense, so I guess that's just what we're going to have to do. A bowl of porridge for supper sounds like a great plan!! That should fill him up and get him through the night (should...!). I know exactly what you mean about missing those bottles. During his morning and bedtime bottles, C normally just lies still (for once!) and looks at me and into my eyes and it has always felt like an important bonding time. Oh well, I suppose he should know who I am by now...! Myself and my husband are going away for five nights next week and my sister is coming over to look after Cormac, so I guess we'll stick with formula and our current routine (if you can call it that) just a bit longer cos I think my sis will already have enough to deal with!! Anyway, thanks again - I really appreciate it. And be sure to let me know how you guys get on. Good luck!!

Tilly - Wednesday, 27 August
Hey Sue. I was just wondering when you have a sec could you tell me what your nurse recommended regarding feeding? Like, in her opinion, should we be giving say a certain number of sippy cups of formula/cow's milk each day...? We're at a bit of a loss at the moment about what we should be doing. Thanks!

Ema uk - Tuesday, 26 August
lol..think jacobs going to be an outside baby too..he loves exploring and getting dirty..He's just like me in that respect..i'm the one going out doing all the boy stuff and Marks the stay in and fiddle with things type of person...so he wants a girl to stay in with him..while Jacob and I go get muddy with the dog..haha..it's strange we've kinda got a role reversal going on..lol..jacobs going to be a mummys boy and if we have a girl..i'm pretty sure she's going to be a daddys girl..lol..bit worried he'd spoil a girl rotten..it's lucky you haven't got sickness...if you can at least escape that..you'll have a relitivly easy first trimester.. ..i had terrible morning/all day sickness constantly for 5 months..then a months gap then sick again till 8 months..so when do you get to go for the first scan?.....bet your excited..(yet reserved) I don't know how i'd feel...let me know...keep those updates comming..Xxxx

spookywife - Monday, 25 August
I was hoping I got a least one picture with him on his bday. So I made sure my mom got one before everyone got there.

spookywife - Monday, 25 August
It was pretty easy. We just used a loaf pan for the ship and then kind of cut it into a boat shape.
