My husband and I just got married on October 13, 2007. We honeymooned in Florida, spending time at Disney, Universal, and Islands of Adventure. It was like being a kid again, which was an amazing feeling. I had never been there before, so he thought it would be a good way for us to spend time together and enjoy our honeymoon. We got back from the honeymoon and within a month, we were pregnant! Yep, conceived November 22, 2007 (I'm pretty sure this is the exact day). Thanksgiving day! What a way to give thanks! God has blessed us and we look forward to meeting our little bundle! He/she is due August 14, 2008. We find out the sex on April 3, 2008...my husband's birthday. Happy birthday to him! We are both so thrilled and are enjoying this every step of the way.

So I had my checkup today....36 weeks 4 days. I have been going once a week for about 4 weeks now, where they do an ultrasound and NST at every visit. This visit was no different, except they did my test for group B strep. That was fun. Haha. And they checked me for dilation and effacement. Let's start with the ultrasound. Little guy looks good. Had the sonographer that I had back towards the middle of the pregnancy, so I was excited to have her back. Didn't much care for the lady that has been doing it...she doesn't seem to be very thorough. This girl's name is Kimberly and she is great! She takes her time and will try to get pictures of the things you want to see, in addition to what she needs to have. She takes several measurements of everything from his belly, head, and femur bone in order to get a more precise estimate of growth. I joked with her and asked if we could see that it was still a boy. She took a look and yep....no doubt on that one! He proudly displayed the goods! As far as his weight goes...he was estimating at 5 pounds 11 oz at the last visit 2 weeks ago. Today though...he measured in at an estimated 7 pounds 3 oz! Holy crapoly! He's a big little guy! I had a feeling the other lady was low-balling the estimate, and looks like I was right. The doc says I still have a chance at a natural delivery as long as he doesn't get upwards of 9-10 pounds at delivery. She said we would try as much as we can for a natural delivery before we have to resort to another method. She thinks I can handle it though, being as tall as I am. She thinks I can manage a fairly large baby without much trouble. Haha! We will see! Still though....already 7 pounds 3 oz....just think of what he will be in 3 1/2 weeks when he is at 40 weeks! They won't let me go over my due date for sure now. They think they might induce me on 8/8/08, when I'm 39 weeks. That would be awesome, as not only is it a cool date, it's also my grandmother's birthday that passed away in January and the start of the Olympics this year. I'm anxious to have him, but I'm definitely getting scared of the pain. And I'm scared of how I will feel once he is outside of me...I'm so used to having him in there that I might feel kinda empty! Anyways, after the ultrasound, we went for the NST. He decided to go to sleep. After kicking the sonographer on many occasions during the ultrasound, I guess he was exhausted and ready for sleep. He rolled around a couple times, but mostly slept. Lol. She buzzed him a few times and ticked him off majorly, but then he rolled over and went back to sleep. Lazy boy! The doctor says that I'm about 1cm dilated, but that I haven't progressed much as far as effacement goes. She says my cervix is still rather "thick." I guess he's not quite ready to come yet. He's moving around now though, so I guess he is ready for an active evening! If they decide to take him at 39 weeks, I've got not even 2 1/2 weeks left. Wow. Time is definitely flying by fast. I'm ready, but nervous. I guess that's how most of us are feeling at this point. Not much longer and we will hold our little babies in our arms! Yay!!!! More updates next week after my next appointment on Tuesday!

Back from my 34wk5d check-up today. All is well with Hunter. He weighs in at an estimated 5 pounds 11 ounces, which is more along the lines of what is "normal" for his gestational age. He was sleepy this morning, so when they did the NST, he didn't move much. The nurse finally came in and used a buzzer to wake him up. Gah, he HATED that! Of course, if I was sleeping and somebody put a buzzer up to my ear, I wouldn't like it very much either. I'd probably try to punch or kick them too! Haha. The ultrasound was good...he was practicing his breathing. The only thing is...they asked if big heads run in the family. LOL! I told them yes, and they said that he has a "big 'ole head." Haha. They said it was nothing abnormal or anything, just that he has a big head. Like his daddy. My mother in-law said it took a year for my husband's body to catch up to his big head after he was born. Go figure :) Other than that, he's a beautiful, healthy baby boy that will be here before long! I'm starting to get really excited!!!! Hope all is well with everyone else :)

Had my checkup today. All went well. Baby is growing, that's for sure! I'm now measuring 34 weeks and I'm just 30 weeks and 5 days. So I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead of time. I go back in 2 weeks for an ultrasound to check his growth and for them to do the fetal monitoring or something like that, where they strap stuff to my belly. He has been moving non-stop since they pointed the doppler at him. Lol. His heart rate was 148, so he's strong and healthy. My weight is still the same, so I haven't gained anything. Weight loss total still at around 20 pounds. I got to come home to a HOT house, too. The compressor in our air conditioner went out and it could be Thursday morning before we get another one. It's miserably hot in here. It's probably about 90 degress in our apartment. Ugh. I can handle the heat, I just hope little Hunter fares okay!

5/1/08

So I just got back from my 25 week check-up and the doctor says that everything looks great so far! She's very pleased with my weight loss during pregnancy, considering I was overweight when becoming pregnant. She says it has just helped to make me healthier during the pregnancy. They listed with the doppler and found the heart beat right away...all of which sounded really good. Then she measured my uterus which I haven't had done before, and I'm measuring 30cm. She said normally you measure the number of weeks you are pregnant, which would be 25cm for me. So I'm a bit bigger than average. My guess is that this is because of the gestational diabetes and the fact that my little man is a big guy in there! He is probably just bigger than normal because of the diabetes. That's why they want to get my sugar under control. I got started on insulin yesterday...I'm to take 10cc at bedtime. If my fasting sugars don't go down, I have to up the dose by 2cc a day until it is down to normal. I can do that. I was surprised when I couldn't even feel the needle go in when I gave myself the shot. I was afraid of what it would be like...but now I'm not scared anymore. I just hope my fasting sugars go down and things get back to normal. I'm so sleepy today for some reason all I want to do is take a nap. That's exactly where I'm headed!

Thanks for reminding me how important it is, I have been eating healthy for so long that I was so irritated and I wanted to enjoy my pregnancy and had my moments these past two weeks of cheating I can't help it.

Thank you for your response. It makes me sick and sad to see what the kids are going through. She has 2 more kids in mexico and she said she has always drank during her pregnancies and her babies have been born heaLTHY. But i told her that it might not show right away when they are born maybe later as they get older. UUgggghhhrr it pisses me off, people like that shouldn't have kids.

I am glad to hear that everything is going so well for you and Hunter!!! Especially those NST. I have to go twice a week fo NST and I am getting sick of it because they always go so well and she does everything they are looking for within the first 5 minutes. I just don't see why I need to do it twice a week. Your little guy is a few days ahead of my daughter, but at my 34 week visit she only weighed 4 pounds 8 ounces!!! I wish I could get her to pack on at least another pound since they are still talking about inducing me at 36 to 37 weeks...honestly what is the rush is me being diabetic is not effecting her!!! Still yet, I am exctited and a part of me wish they would do it early so that I can meet her that much sooner!!! But also, I am ready to be a single being again!!!

Stay well!!!

Nice work! I've been pretty fortunate with the weight gain. I've gained 17 pounds last I checked. It's probably closer to 19 or 20 now, but I think that's pretty good considering there are only 4.5 weeks left. My goal was to hit just at the 25 lb mark. They say they want it between 25 and 35, so I'm aiming for the low side of normal. Good luck to you! Thanks for the reply.

Dear Sunshine, I just wanted to tell you that I took the time to read your post in Week 35. That was REALLY nice to read, and I appreciate it more than you know. Good for you for pointing out how hard servers have to work. I admire you and hope you have a very smooth delivery. I'm sure you will have a child who learns to be polite.

Snugglebug - Sunday, 13 July
Yeah, diapers, wipes, genie refills, bottle liners, you can't go wrong with those. :) That stinks about the bottles. If you knew where they came from, you could return them. Or, you could save them until baby gets old enough to drink juice and/or water, since that's not as hard to clean as worrying about icky milk. I'm glad it went well. :)

Snugglebug - Saturday, 12 July
Yeah, I think my set came with 4 different nipples. I bought some more the other day. Oh, and I'd like to suggest you get the silicone nipples, they can be washed in the dishwasher, which you aren't supposed to do with the latex ones (in case you didn't already know that). :) I've been nervous about the same thing, forgetting something. It just seems like we're TOO prepared, know what I mean? It's then that you find that you've forgotten something major, lol. That's my luck, anyway. Is your shower over with? Did it go well?

Snugglebug - Saturday, 12 July
Yay! You're getting there! :) We managed to get his clothes and all that washed a couple of weeks ago, but I bought more, so had to wash more last weekend, hehe! I really like the idea of the drop-ins also, especially if you're breastfeeding (although you can use them for either, obviously). If you're breastfeeding, you can actually pump and store your milk right in the liners (the pre-formed ones), if you buy the storage pack that goes along with all the Playtex stuff. Then, you don't make a mess transferring from the pump to a storage bag to the bottle. You just pump directly into the liners, put the lid on, stick it in the freezer, take it to thaw when you're ready for it (or great to take on a road trip and use later) then drop it in the bottle. :D Of course, it all sounds good to me, but I'm a new mommy, so I've never actually gotten to use them yet. All the reviews that I read about them were great, though. :) We're not having a shower, we live 5-10 hours away from all of our family and friends. The ladies at my mom's church are going to have a shower for me, without me there (5 hours away), and just pack everything up and mail it, I guess. But, they're really old-fashioned and not having it until AFTER he's born. I don't mean to sound rude, but we'll already have everything by then. In fact, we already have everything except a swing and a glider for me to rock/nurse him in. Neither of which are absolute necessities. So, I told my mom that they can just get liners and maybe some medium and fast flow nipples. Otherwise, he's set for about 6 months, including clothes. Oh well, it was nice of them to even think of us. We're not comfortable accepting gifts, anyway, so it definitely isn't necessary. :) I hope you enjoy your shower today! :D

Snugglebug - Saturday, 12 July
If you're using the drop-ins, you don't need to worry about sterilizing the bottles. That's what it says, anyway. :) Since the liners are what will be actually holding the milk, not the bottles. You could probably wash them in hot, soapy water and be fine, if you want. :)

Snugglebug - Saturday, 12 July
If you still have the box(es) that your bottles and nipples came in, it should say on there, or in a little pamphlet inside, how long to boil them for. I think it might be 10 minutes for bottles and 5 minutes for nipples. Yep, just checked and my stuff says 5 minutes for the nipples, but I'm using drop-in bottles, so I'm not sure how long you need to boil the bottles. And if you're using a breast pump, don't forget to sterilize it, also, based on the instructions that come with it. ;)

Awww, congrats on your perfect little one! I can't wait to meet Charlie. I'm sure you are as excited as I am. We're in for a great summer!

Babysitting went well. I'm tired now though. Had an arguement with my hubby, we're stressed out about money, the economy, gas prices, ect. I just with things were easier sometimes! Hope you have a good weekend.

Last night I am almost certain I was having BH Contractions, or real contractions..they hurt! And I have a lot of pressure! They went away, but my whole stomach was hard! I was a little freaked out. But, they passed. So...it's just the waiting game now. My husband and I are babysitting for our friend's two kids today...practice. :) One is five the other will be a year in August. I hope they are good. :)
