Hey! I'm 37 with one son who will be 11 years old next month! I did a HPT two weeks ago. It came back positive. I repeated it two days later, still positive! I had my first prenatal visit yesterday. They confirmed that I am pregnant. They also told me I could take dramimine for the morning sickness, which showed up immediately after I found out I was pregnant! It has been two weeks of increasingly worse morning sickness. Has anyone else heard of using dramamine for morning sickness?
Feb. 1st I missed work yesterday because of a horrible headache!!! I'm taking zofran for m/s. It has a warning about causing headaches. I don't know if that is what caused it or the severe thunderstorm that came through our area but it caused me to be in the bed most of the day. I do feel somewhat better today though. I go to the dr. Monday the 4th. Hope they do an u/s!!
Feb. 6th Hi everyone! Monday the 4th I had my first official doctor's appt. She discussed everything that I should expect. I also found out that I have to see a specialist through out the pregnancy due to my age and I already have blood pressure problems. She wanted me to schedule an ultrasound but guess what? all of the computer systems were down so of course I couldn't schedule one. I was so disappointed! Maybe it will be soon!
Feb. 7th I called yesterday afternoon and was finally able to schedule my next appt. and my ultrasound. I get to go TODAY!!! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. My husband hopes it is only 1 baby!
Feb. 8th I went for my ultrasound yesterday. It was a vaginal ultrasound. I've never had one of those done. They said it was done because it's easier to see the baby since I'm so early. My husband and I got to see the baby!!! It was so tiny. I was told it was 2.2 cm (1 inch) in size. All looked well. I may have a cyst on my right ovary though. I don't know what that will mean to the pregnancy later on. My husband was thrilled that it was only ONE!!
March 4th I went to my second dr. appt. I had another ultasound. It was amazing how much the baby has changed from Feb. 7th to now! I could see its fingers and got to watch it stretch its little leg out. How wonderful! My m/s is a lot better. I still have some in the morning and some in the evening but no more vomiting!!!!!
March 12th Just wanted to update. All is going well! Still no more vomiting!!!! My stomach still feels a little weird in the morning and evening but I'm able to eat and hold down food. I've noticed my stomach seems to feel tighter especially at the bottom. I don't think anyone can tell I'm pregnant especially since I'm going into the pregnancy already overweight.
March 26th - I went to see a prenatal specialist today. I'm sooooo excited!! He did an u/s and my husband and I found out it looks like we are expecting a baby girl!!! We have one son who is 11 years old. I'm not sure I know what to do with a girl but I look forward to learning!! The dr. said all look o.k. and the baby weighs 5 ozs. which is where it needed to be.
March 28th I'm not very computer lit when it comes to putting images on the computer. This site has very good instructions on how to upload an image. Even I could understand them which is saying a lot. Below is a 4D image of my BABY GIRL! This was taken at 16 weeks 2 days. Can you see her face, eyes, distorted nose and her arm bent behind her head! My prenatal specialist did the u/s and took two 4D images. This is truly amazing to me. What a miracle!

March 31st I went to my regular ob dr. today. I gained 2 pounds, my bloodpressure was good. My mother got to go with me and she got to hear the heartbeat! It was awesome and so reassuring.
April 20th - Well, I had a scare Friday night. I had some bleeding. I use the word some but to me some doesn't quite cover what I saw and how it made me feel. I tried not to panic, called for my husband who of course immediatly said let's go get checked out. I went to the ER and thank GOD everything went smoothly from there. I was checked in quickly and was taken to the back right away. The doctor was in the room ready for me before I could get undressed and redressed in the "lovely" hospital gowns they give us to wear. He was very nice and reassuring. They did a basic U/S where he told me he saw the baby moving and let me hear the heartbeat. Then he did the dreaded "physical" exam. He didn't see any reason for my bleeding. He wanted me to have a ob u/s which involved me having an IV first for fluids and then, I got to have a catheter inserted and my bladder filled with a saline solution. Let me tell you I don't like getting IV's but I have to say the catheter and filled bladder was much worse. You feel like you need to "go" but it is clamped off and there is no "going". Very uncomfortable. I had to stay like that until they did the ob u/s. I was taken over for the ultrasound pretty quickly. Again, the lady there was very nice. She discovered that my bladder wasn't filled up enough but didn't send me back for more saline. THANK GOD! I had my husband and son with me. My son actually got to see the baby's spine and heart beat for the very first time. He was grinning so big. As soon as she finished she "released" the clamp on the catheter which releaved the pressure. I was taken back to my room and then I had to wait a little while. The nurse finally came in and removed the catheter and the dr. came in and told me all looked well with the u/s, again THANK GOD. He had consulted with a dr. who was on call from my ob/gyn office. He told me bedrest for the weekend and tomorrow (Monday) morning call and go into the office to see my dr. I'm going to call first thing in the moring.
April 21st - I went in to see my dr. today concerning my weekend trip to the ER. She thinks that everything is o.k. She said we may never know the true reason for the bleeding. She doesn't believe that it is related to the baby. I can go back to work tomorrow. I AM SOOOO GLADDDD (about the baby, not about going back to work- hahaha
May 13 - Today was an emotional day for me. I don't know how many of you are animal lovers but I am one. I have had a toy poodle for 14 years 9 months. Today, my husband had to take her to the vet and ultimately have her put to sleep. I cried off and on at work knowing that was what would probably happen when he took her in. She was having trouble breathing, making this horrible wheezing/sucking sound as if to try and pull in air. The doctor said that she had some fluid on her lungs but it was mainly her heart (kind of like congestive heart failure). We could try meds but they wouldn't really help, only prolong what was going to happen here shortly. So my husband asked what would she (the dr.) suggest. She said she couldn't tell him what to do but if the poodle was hers she would have her put to sleep, to keep her from suffering. So that is what he did. He didn't call me at work, didn't want me to really know until I got home but of course I knew deep in side and worried and cried at work anyway. Candy (that was her name) would have been 15 next month. I would have had her 15 years this coming August. I'm trying to be as calm about it as possible so that I don't cause my blood pressure to rise (since already take meds for it ). It is like a loss of a family member. I've received phone calls from my mother, sisters, and brother, along with co-worker just to see how I'm doing. So I ask for you to pray for me during this time of loss. Thanks so much!
May 15 - I had a good and bad day yesterday. I was still upset over having to have my "first baby" my poodle put to sleep. I had cried off and on all day the day before, thought of her all through the night, and woke up with a headache. After getting to work I received a call that my brother in law had been kicked in the face by a horse. He now has fractured left upper jaw, fractures around the left eye socket, lacerated mouth and tongue, and a broken nose. On top of that he'd had a skin cancer removed last week which required 12 stitches and wouldn't you know the horse kicked him on that side. So now that is all torn apart. His face is swollen horribly. He is going to need surgery after the swelling goes down. He'll need some plates and pins put in. My sister is beside herself with worry. The good from the day came when I went to see my specialist. He took several pics. He still says it's a girl! He estimates her weight right now to be 1 pound 5 ounces. She was so active, he couln't get a pic. of her bladder! I'm relieved everytime I feel her move or get to see her on those screens.
May 19 - I went for my check-up today. I have gained 5 pounds all together. I've been taken off of my blood pressure medicines. I did my glucose test, all was well. They checked my iron levels, it was good too. Everything is progressing good. The only complaint is my back is killing me!!! I guess that goes with it.
June 11 - I saw the specialist today. He continues to say that she is a girl. Good thing my husband says because if it turned out to be a boy, he'd have to wear a lot of pink now. The doctor said that everything looks good. She now weighs 2 lbs 9 oz. I fall more in love with her everyday and she hasn't even made it out into the world yet.
June 17 - I went to my regular dr. appt. yesterday. I gained 7, yes 7 more pounds. Isn't that awful. 7 pounds in 4 weeks uugghh. It makes 12 pounds total which the dr said isn't bad. She had me start taking iron tablets every other day. My iron levels are 35.9, normal is 35. the dr. is afraid that the baby will deplete my iron as I go into this last trimester. She said if I don't go ahead and take something there could be a chance of me needing a blood transfusion after birth. That was enough to convince me to go ahead and start the iron tablets now. I also found out that I don't have to see the specialist anymore. I've mixed feelings about that. I don't have to put out the extra money for his visits, a good thing, but he took regular and 3d/4d pics and now I won't get anymore of those, bad thing. But It also means that all is looking well with my baby girl so it is a good thing that the dr doesn't think I need to return. My blood pressures have been good. I was told maybe I should be pregnant all the time since my pressures are staying good and I don't need meds. My husband didn't agree with that (me neither actually). I told the dr. I guess I'll take my chances and go back on meds after the birth hahaha. 12 weeks to go until our little one arrives.
July 1 - I went to the dr yesterday. I gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks. I had an ultrasound done to "grade" my baby on tone, movement, breathing, and fluid. She passed all except the breathing part. The dr. said not to worry some times baby don't cooperate but she still "passed". I go next week for a NST - put two monitors around my stomach. One to see if I'm having contractions and one to monitor baby's heartrate. I hope all continues to go well.
thats so cute, it looks like she is sticking her tongue out :)
This is a cute picture! Who do u guys think she looks like?
