Friday, 18 Jan Hiya! Sorry if I confused you. I was so extremely tired lastnight. Okay, here's the deal. My Doc won't do a c-section unless an emergency arrises because I have to be put under general ana. I have to have this baby all natural. I am very scared about this. No epidural and they aren't even sure if I can have a spinal because of where the metal is located in my back, leaving me to go under if I have to have a c-section. I am also allergic to morphine and demoral. I know that they typically use morphine in an epidural and demoral to knock out pain so that leaves very few other drugs to take the edge off when I am in hard labor. I hope you are able to follow me with all of this. Let me know if I have confused you more. hugs :) OMG IM 40 -
Friday, 18 Jan I am scheduled for a c-section Wednesday also. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, make sure he knows that your are nervous and anxious about it. I'm sure you will be fine and you are in good hands with your doc. I wish you the best, and God Bless! Nikkie0619 -
Friday, 18 Jan Hiya! I have screws and rods in my back too. I asked my Doc about a c-section and he opted for that to be our last option. I am so scared cause and epidural is not an option for me either and they aren't even sure if they can do a spinal. So basically I have to be put under for a c-section. I am also allergic to Morphine and Demoral---not sure what that leaves for pain releif. I am sort of freaked---but if you get a c-section you are lucky---I would gladly take that route if it were available without being put under. Good luck to you! Hugs :) marebear -
Thursday, 17 Jan Going into 'shock' is involuntary... it's not a mental thing. I think it's from being cut open. It's really not as bad as it sounds. It just feels like shivering... that's why the warm blankets helped so much. :) You're going to do great... I'm telling you, I was sooooo freaked out before I went in... but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Februarymommy -
Thursday, 17 Jan I just found out that I will be having a C-section on the 29th. She is still breech and she is not going to turn due to the type of breech position she is in. I want to wish you well on your day. I hope all goes well as I'm sure that it will. When it's all over let me know how you are doing. Take care. marebear -
Wednesday, 16 Jan It's really wierd because for me... the nurse put they needle in my back (which does hurt but you have to hold real still... but it really doesn't last long and is better than labor pain :)) Anyway, after the needle part, I was told I was going to feel a warm sensation... as he was telling me that, it was actually happening (pretty cool)... then he said my legs would start to feel heavy... and they did... at that point, they moved me from my sitting position to laying back... by the time I was laying back... I couldn't feel or move ANYTHING from my waist down...then they put the cathader in and prepped me for surgery by cleaning me and stuff... but I couldn't feel a thing. I get freaked out pretty easy but I have to say... they talked me through so much of it... I didn't freak out or panic at all. They put the blanket thing up so I couldn't see what they were doing... and between the nurse in charge of my pain (can't spell what they're called)and my husband... my mind wasn't on what was going on. All I felt was pressure... at one part right before he was born, it was a little hard to breathe but it didn't last long and then I felt like 20 lbs. was lifted off me and then I heard him cry and all was well. It goes sooo fast! The doctor helf him up right away for just a few seconds so I could see him... then when they were done doing what they had to do, the nurse brought him over to me so I could kiss him for a minute. Then my husband followed the nurses and they took the baby away. Right after Tommy was born, they asked if I wanted anything for my nerves... I said NO, I was fine... and I had to work pretty hard at staying calm so they wouldn't give me any drugs through the IV... because if they do, it delays your recovery room time... and you can't see your baby again untill you're out of recovery. I was out in 45 minutes even though they told me the average recovery time is 1.5 to 2 hours. The fewer drugs (other than the spinal)the faster you get to hold your baby. That's what kept me from freaking. Because if you start to freak, they have to give you something. If you start shaking really bad and they want to give you something because you're going into shock...ask for some warm blankets... that worked for me and then I didn't need the IV drugs. All I wanted was to go see my baby. When you loose feeling in your legs, they're so busy up by your face and there's so much going on... you don't even have the urge to move them... it's not as bad as you have in your head. :) Good luck and let me know how it goes. virgel -
Wednesday, 16 Jan Hi Allison,
Same as you i feel the sensation, plus my left leg doing me feel a big bad pain inside can't walk normally, think it's the baby weight doing that, anyway wait just little days and finish, hopefully you're great with the baby. kettynyc -
Tuesday, 15 Jan My c-section was actually a nice experience. They took their time and had a little radio playing soft rock music from the 80's which I can relate to. My husband sat right by my side and when they delivered the baby she was actually able to hang out with us for about 15 minutes while they closed my incision. The staff was wonderful and I was actually chatting on and off with the anesthesialogist who is expecting around the same time you are. So I must say, it was a very relaxing once the meds kicked in. I hope your experience is the same if not better. Good Luck! marebear -
Tuesday, 15 Jan The pain meds they give you in the spine to not make you feel grogy and disoriented like other meds. The drugs they give you ( if you want them) through the IV after the baby is born is what makes you feel loopy and what not. But you can choose not to have any if you want. I was freaking out before I went in for my c-section... but I have to say, it was a pretty good experience. If I were going to have another baby... I'd have another c-section for sure. I love the crib you picked out. How awesome! It almost looks like a gazeebo. beckyu -

Wednesday, 9 Jan That's so exciting! Best of luck! I may also be having a C-section. We find out tomorrow for sure. She's been transverse for a long time now and at this point she may be too big to move head down! We've chosen the name Kaitlyn. Not sure on the middle name yet. I love the name you've chosen! Its beautiful! amac428 -
Wednesday, 9 Jan Its been going really well! I'm just getting to the point now where I'm getting tired and uncomfortable. I have a doc's appt. and u/s tomorrow so hopefully I'll get some good news! How's your's going? baby bug -
Wednesday, 9 Jan I think it depends on the dr. and hospital whether or not you get the enema (unless you do it yourself at home in early labour). I asked for one with my first labour and they told me that it was not necessary and they don't give them. A lot of times when you go into labour you will have loose bowel movements to clean yourself out. However, a lot of women do poo while pushing and the nurses will just clean it up and not make a big deal out of it. I know, gross and embarrasing hey! Cohensmom -
Wednesday, 9 Jan Just want to let you know that it is very possible for you to poo and fart while in labor. A lot of women have a bowel movement while pushing the baby out. The nurses are usually pretty good about making sure that they get rid of it quickly and discreetly. I personally didnt have this happen with my last one but I have watched births where it happens. Dont stress about it though.....atleast if it happens u will know that you arent alone =)
