Hello! My name is Theresa and I am married to a wonderful man named Mark. Mark and I have been together for almost 7 years, and married a little over a year. We had a beautiful little girl named Allyson Elizabeth on June 11th, 2007. She weighed in at 8lb 2.5oz, and she was 21 1/2 inches long. Long labor....EASY delivery. For those of you needing advice, I will try my best to give you good advice. Most all of the women on this site are wonderful. You have a few that will judge you and pull you down. You just have to look at the source. People like that are usually unhappy with themselves and cannot vent their anger any other way except on here. They want their way to be the correct way.....I say no one knows your child better than you.....do what you feel is right!

UPDATES:

This is when I was about 16 weeks...

These last two...is me NOW.....I was 33 weeks here......

Allyson's room finished!

35 weeks now.

Today we had our sonogram and ultrasound.....we are having a little girl! She wasn't very modest at all....we saw everything! She weighs appx 1lb 1oz which is right on target! She was moving around alot, and we also got to see the 3-D pictures and video, she was openening and closing her mouth, and she even kicked the little device they move across your stomach. Next visit they will order my paper work for the testing of gestational diabetes.....now the fun stuff begins..........They said right now she is breach, but she has plenty of time to turn the right way. So far I have gained a total of 13 lbs....which they said Im right on target for my 30-35 lbs weight gain......

2/21/2007

Well Tomorrow I will be 25 weeks! Time is just flying. Everyday I feel our little girl move more and more. Some days it seems like she is just kicking back and relaxing...must be nice..lol. My new little niece Kiera, is just adorable, pretty soon her little cousin will be here and they can play! We chose a name already her name will be Allyson Elizabeth....or maybe I will spell it Allison????? So many decisions. Of course we will call her Ally for short. So far Im still tracking ok for my weight gain. I started at 104 and Im about 118-119 now. I know the pounds will really start packing in the third trimester. As time get closer Im starting to feel more anxious....and a little scared. Not so much about the baby being here.....and caring for another person...but the labor part. I have a pretty good threshold for pain. But I am one of those people, I kinda like to know whats going on, and not feel like Im not in control of my situation. I am hoping it will be a breeze. My next appointment is March 6th.......then after that I will go every 2 weeks....then on the last month every week.....its winding down!!!!

3/6/2007

Ok had my appointment today, my brother in law's girlfriend had her at the same time..they just found out they are having a boy. So now....there is two girls...and a boy being born in the family. Doc measured me..so far everything looks great. Gained 18 lbs for the whole pregnancy so far.......and I go back March 28th...then every two weeks thereafter. Allyson's hearbeat was 153 which has been pretty consistent...she kept kicking the doppler. He will be ordering another sonogram for me when I am about 30-32 weeks....to measure the growth....he said he does it for his smaller patients because we tend to measure a bit small. Othe than that...it was a GREAT visit!

3/28/07

Well had my doc visit today...my weight is at 125-----oh wow...who would have though! I get to have another sonogram/ultrasound in two weeks. He said I am measuring a little small....about weeks small. He says that normal because ofmy small frame. Plus its genetics, our family just makes small babies. He said he is guessing about 6-61/2 lb baby. I told him my husband was a little smaller than me, and all his brothers were a little small. I weighed 6lbs 11oz..and he weight about the same maybe a little less. He also said he thinks the baby is head down. Guess we will know in two weeks! He said he isnt too worried he just wants to make sure Im within the certain percentile and that im not on track to having a 5lb baby. I dont think so, because at my 22 week visit-she measured righton target. My due date remains the same since I got my first U/S at 6 weeks...and that is considered most accurate because in the beginning everyone grows the same. I have some swelling under my arms...found out is just swollen glands with my milk starting to come in----oh joy..lol. Other than that...great visit!

4/10/2007

Ok well today I had another 2 week check-up and my ultrasound to check Allyson's growth. In that doctors face! She is growing just fine! She weighed in at about 3lbs 14oz....and apparently has long legs...go figure since they are always jammed up in my ribs all the time! We got some ok shots....she was napping and restin her head against the uterine wall.....and thankfully she is head down. I kinda figured that after these past two weeks, it has felt like someone has kicked me between the legs over and over! I have gained 3 lbs since last visit, which puts me at a total of 24lbs for the pregnancy. Its weird because I have never really been over 100....I was about 104 when I got pregnant, and that was because I was going to the gym all the time....heh now all that tone has turned to flab...how glamorous! The doc still checked my measurements from the outside, and he said my utuerus is still measuring off..but he my kid is measuring JUST FINE..lol actually I saw on the little counter thing when the tech was doing her measurements, it already had 32 weeks and some odd days.....sooooo.....Im not worried, my kids and over achiever I guess.lol.

4/25/2007

Ok today was another 2 week check-up weighed in at about 130lbs..that puts my total weight gain to 26lbs...not too shabby if I say so myself. I came down with what kinda feels like the flu or some other viral infection-AGAIN...I left work early yesterday, I feel a little better today.....just very stuffy and sore throat. Ally is moving like crazy though---glad to know she is better than me! They checked her heart beat, and it was running a little high about 178 I told the nurse that was unusually high for her....she is usually around 155-157 range...at the time though she was moving around alot...we waited for her to settled and it went back down. A few mins later the doc checked again and she was back down to 155....he said that was fine,...and actually they like to see that.....its a really good indicator...she was moving around in cramped space so her heart rate was really going. Next visit is the Goup B test.....oh joy...then there after I go to every week visits.....Im in for the home stretch ---in about two weeks..lol.

5/7/2007

So how about an interesting story! This past weekend, Saturday, I was sittingon the porch, watching my lovely husband cut the grass. All of a sudden I felt something really warm come out of me...and it wasnt a little bit! So, I waddle to my hubby, and tell him im not sure if I peed myself, or im leaking fluid. So I go inside, call the on call nurse, she says go to labor and delivery and get checked. So after alot of debating, I go. My cousin had the same thing, didnt go...had pre term labor...so I go. I get there, they swab me....nope not fluid (so now Im pee pee pants theresa) Then they checked for contractions...I had a few......then it was time for them to check for dialation. Mind you, I have not had this done yet....so, the first girl tries to check says "Wow, your baby is really reallylow, I feel her head, you must be uncomfortable" (gee what gave her that idea) but she couldn't find my cervix...something about the baby's head was pushing it...she hurt me so bad! Then the second nurse comes in...much better, didnt feel any pain, she says the same thing, that the baby is sitting really low in my pelvis, she could feel her head....hmmm wonder if this means anything!...Anyhow...no dialation though. I felt a little defeated when I walked out of there.....I swear I still dont think I peed myself...but hey you never know......lol

5/16/2007

Ok Im up to weekly visits now. My weight has stayed the same...which puts my weight gain to a total of 33 lbs. Not too shabby if I say so myself. I was checked Im thinning, but still closed. Doc said its ok because some women never open until labor actually starts. The thinning though---thats a change yay for me! She felt the baby from the outside, said she is getting big.....heh ya think? Well that's my update..... :0)

5/29/07

Well another uneventful, painful doctors visit. The only thing good that came out of this one.....I have a date to be induced. Now, Im a little disappointed that I have to stay pregnant for an extra week...but NOW I have date.My cervix has not softened still at 50% barely fingertip dialted...and that was only because she was pushing......so Wed, June 13th at 5pm, I will be going in to have my cervix softened, then the 14th, they will start the pitocin, break water....and she will be here....sooo sometime before the 14th she will be here....FINALLY something to look foward to.

12/21/2007

First, I want to start off and wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS! It has been quite the year. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She is now 6 months old, and time has definatly gotten away from me. If there was one thing that I learned since I have had her, it's that time is definatly not on your side. Allyson will be 6 1/2 months old and has changed so much in these last 6 months. I can't believe she was inside me at one point. She scoots now, has her two bottom teeth, rolls all over the place...she has been sitting up on her own since she was 4 months old. She is truly a blessing. I lover her smiles every morning. It must be something to wake up and just be happy to get your day started. Im happy to get mine started because she is here. I wish everyone, health and happiness in the year. Good luck, and I will talk to you all in 2008!

3/5/2008

Well Allyson will be 9 months old next week. Where has the time gone!? Before you know it, she will be a year old. I can't believe it. Its been a rough month or so lately. She has been sick, and this last time we were both sick with the flu....she has to do breathing treatments for bronchiolitis. Apparently its very common. Sometimes thats the end result for the flu. She takes it like a champ though. There has just been some funk going around lately. Anyhow, below are the things she can do...

*Waves bye-bye

*Crawls

*Has 4 TEETH!

*Says, Mama, and Dada

*stands with assistance

*Walks around the furniture

*Claps her hands

*Feeds herself finger foods

*Uses the sippy cup

and soooo much more! She eats pretty much what we eat- she has grown very board of the baby food, and wants to try what we are eating. I buy the Gerber meals for her, and she loves them. She loves to feed herself.

i read an article that said they are starting to think that the first exposure to allergies is in the womb. so when allergy season comes around and they are infants that they have already been exposed so they can have allergies. unfortantly that is still being tested. i am pretty confident that ethan has allergies just as his sister, father and i. he is always congested even when he is not tech sick, his eyes ooz, runny nose, sneezing and gets lots of rashes and hives. he had allergies at birth and developed severe eczema on his face as a result. i do not know what he is allergic to food or airborn, indoor or outdoor. but i get frustrated with drs. i just want him to be well all the time. does ally ever get rashes or hives?

trinity - Wednesday, 2 July
well i am glad that she did not mind the test. i think a nassl spray may help. i asked the pulm dr and he said that yes children under 2 can use it. i think that will help with the mucus. he had hives on his back so the dr said to stay on zyrtec and make sure he sees an allergist. i am in the same boat as you. the zyrtec only does so much. i have nasonex here so i may give it to him or call the ent to see if i can give it. maybe that would help ally. they need to learn more about babies and allergies. they used to think they could not have allergie so young but that seems to be wrong. i hope she does do better. did she tell you things to reduce indoor allergies for her to be safe?

trinity - Tuesday, 1 July
i absolutely agree. i went to school to be a med asst. after my daughter got so sick i thought i should have been a dr instead so i can treat her myself and not have to have the run around. well i hope her appt goes well and has it may not sound nice but i hope she has allergies so you can treat her and help her feel better.

my ped told me there was nothing wrong with my daughter after she was on an antibiotic 11months out of 12. by the time i got her to the ENT she had chronic sinusitis and her tonsils were swollen that they blocked 90% of her path way. she had sleep apnea, swallowing issues and that was the reason her she developed the chronic sinus. we took them out and she got 75% better. started sleeping through the night. so i do not go through my ped any more i have since changed but i still go with my instict. i do not know if anyone told you but she may come up neg and still be pos. i have been told that you can not rely on a neg but trust a pos. as her immune is young. something like that. so she may need to be tested again later. there is a blood test that checks for esinophils(sp?) that will tell if you child is reacting to an allergy. so you should talk to them about that.

trinity - Tuesday, 1 July
that sounds a lot like my son. he also had bronchiolitis. he had to go to the hospital as he was not absorbing enough oxygen and was retracting and wheezing. i had him back a couple weeks later for wheezing. so we saw my daughters pulmonologist and he put him on a daily inhaler that he said will heal the lungs from the damage done from the bronchiolitis. and we thought it was from the rsv but that test came back neg so he thinks it was from the aden virus. ethan was sick from beg of dec till mid feb when he was but on a new antibiotic and he finally came back to life. the dr said the aden virus often makes the kids sicker and gives them gastro problems as well. ethan has a constant runny nose. his eyes are oozing a lot. since he has been on the zyrtec they have stopped pasting shut but only little to help his congestion. his sister was started on nasonex first and if that alone does not help her symptoms then go to the syrup as well they told me. he sees the pulm dr tomorrow so i am going to ask about the nasonex for him. we have to watch when he sneezes to make sure a bunch of gook does not come out. my daughter was tested at 1yr only for food and mold she did good with the scratch test. and again at 4yr she had 21 pricks on her back. it is less then a shot just a little scratch. the worst part is if she is allergic the itching and not being able to scratch. that is awful. well i wish you two luck. i agree they should not have to suffer. they are so sweet and take it like champs.

trinity - Tuesday, 1 July
what are your daughters symptoms that you think it is allergies? i have my son on zyrtec right now as he is always congested and then when he gets a cold he needs an antibiotic as there is so much mucus. he had milk and soy allergies as a baby but is ok with that now. my husband and i have a lot of allergies and are taking allergy shots my mid child tested pos which is who he takes after she has been sick a lot in her life do to several things. he is sick a lot just like she was. his first week of life he started with the congestion and it has not gone yet. he goes to the allergist in november when his sister gets her recheck. he has seen and all/immune dr and the dr said that he can not have outdoor allergies as he is too young and has not had a year of exposure. he was born in spring so he was indeed exposed. i also know some other children who have tested pos and they are young. please let me know if she does come up pos as i really do think he has allergies. the ENT said he looks allergic in his nose andhe put him on zyrtec he also said the same about my daughter and she is pos. we have a ethans room in pooh bear as well. pooh is so cute. thanks for your help and sorry to ramble on.

trinity - Tuesday, 1 July

Get that kid a bra!!!! LOL...just kidding she doesn't look chunky anymore in the mid-section. I'm gonna teach her to throw the balls at mommy's head...LOL.

mommy2b - Thursday, 19 June
Hey. I wanted to check in and see how Ally was doing with the claritin. I haven't had to give it to Nick all week b/c it seems to have dried his sinuses up (yay!!). Though, I probably just jinxed myself and will have to give it to him tonight. Its so nice to not have a snotty nose child running around. LOL! I'll be keeping that medicine in my cabinet all the time. How have you been? I've got 3 more weeks til vacation! I'm so ready to go.

mommy2b - Friday, 6 June
I could hear alittle congestion in Nick's chest last night but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was before. I too, am glad I gave it to him. It has helped his allergies soooo much. He has slept all week all night long. Ahhhh, it feels so good to be able to sleep all night. I woke up this morning at 2:30 b/c andy got out of bed and I couldn't believe that I had been sleeping so good. I'm normally a lite sleeper and b/c I was sleepig so good, I didn't even hear my alarm go off this morning. I normally get up at 6:20, and didn't get up til 6:45.

lizzards-mommy - Friday, 6 June
okay that is exactly what I am going through right now.. she is pouring snot and has a horrible cough. It gets horrible at night.. the other night she vomited for like 10 minutes straight and I think it was from her choking on the flem.. I feel bad and dont know what to do for her. I am going to call the dr but my dr sucks to.. they just push meds which I dont like.

mommy2b - Thursday, 5 June
Nick's cough has gotten alittle better but not completely gone. I looked on the bottle and it doesn't say anything about helping with a cough, but I do believe that its helping in drying some of it up so its just going to take alittle while for the cough to go away. He slept again good last night.

mommy2b - Wednesday, 4 June
I'm so glad it worked for her. I was on my way to work this morning thinking that I couldn't forget to write you b/c I wanted to see how she did. Funny how I think about people who I have never met before, on my way to work. LOL! Our babies are going to be much better for to long. And...we'll no longer have dark circles under our eyes b/c we'll be getting sleep. :)

mommy2b - Wednesday, 4 June
Hey. I just wanted to see if you ended up giving Ally some claritin. I gave Nick another dose of it last night and he slept ALL night. I even woke up a couple of times b/c I thought the baby monitor must have come unplugged or something. His nose hasn't been running but he still has alittle bit of a cough. Not nearly has bad but more of a cough that sounds like its breaking up.

mommy2b - Tuesday, 3 June
BTW, how is working going? Any new business? I bought a new car the other day and was thinking about you since you said you handled auto loans.

mommy2b - Tuesday, 3 June
You sound like me. I did the breathing treatments, elevated his bed and even put baby vick's vapo rub on his feet with some socks (old wives tale that I've heard). The vick's vapo rub did help when he had a real cold but it didn't help when he's coughing from allergies. Anyway, I gave him the claritin yesteray around 6pm so I could watch hiim for a few hours in case he had an allergic reaction. He did just fine on it and didn't wake up coughing not 1 time last night! He woke up once crying b/c he couldn't find his paci....ahhh, I guess I'll cross that hurdle another day. I've got to get his allergies under control before I go back to taking his paci away. Anyway, I know its a hard decision for you to make but even the RN who works with me says its ok. Like I said, I only gave him a 1/2 tsp of it. I bought alittle bottle of the Childrens Claritin and it was over $11. Expensive, but it worked. I'll be giving him somemore tonight before we go to hunter's baseball game.
