Camryn Jewel - Wednesday, 18 June
You are so not alone... I am leaving Camryn in my room for the first year. Her room is down the hall and I have to be there for her immediately should she need me. She sleeps in a bassinet next to my bed, but willstay in my room... besides i love watching her sleep...

Hi! I'm also in the same boat. My boy still has colic and reflux issues. The medicine thing is horrible ... I had mine on colic medicine since 2 weeks and eventually took him off it about 3 weeks ago (he's now 16 weeks) It bothered me tremendously to keep him on the medication because of all of the side effects. I don't think you need to worry too much because the reflux medicine is mostly harmless (from what I know) Just check all of the side effects and ingredients. If it's got bad side effects, try and keep him off it for about 3 days and see if he gets better. That's more or less the amount of time it takes for them to become "independent" and for the medicine to work out of their systems. What I do, is only to give him the colic stuff in very extreme cases (like when he's been crying non-stop for three hours..... Good luck!

What time does he go to bed? Are you still exclusively breastfeeding? I understand about the three times a night thing. Julia was doing that then she went to twice a night then once a night for a week or so and then all of a sudden she went through the night! I have found that by making sure she gets really good naps during the day and then goes to bed early she actually sleeps through the night now. I would have thought she was getting too much sleep and that she would not be able to sleep through the night but the opposite has happened. I used to put her to bed when I went to bed and she was getting up to eat all of the time. I also found that I was rushing in too soon to get her when she would start fussing/crying. Since she has been sleeping through the night I notice that once or twice in the middle of the night she will fuss and cry but it lasts about 2-3 minutes and before I would run in there and get her up. Now she just goes right back to sleep if I don't interrupt her. What kind of sleep schedule/patterns does your little one have right now?

Hello- my baby will be 13 weeks tomorrow and he was just diagnosed with reflux. He had the slilent type with no spit up, only extreme fusiness during and after eating. So as far as growing out of it, I think some do but for many this age is the onset... I hope your little one feels better soon :)

YolandaLee - Monday, 9 June
He's actually much better now and seems to have grown out of the reflux! thank goodness! so there is light at the end of the tunnel. i have heard it comes in cycles though, but he hasn't been affected by it for a week or 2 now. He sleeps well in the day. Nighttime he is a frequent waker so I have him in bed with me so I can get some sleep! He also used to be very gassy but not so much anymore, I think his digestive system has matured and he doesn't get as much trapped wind.

YolandaLee - Saturday, 7 June
Yes we are in the same boat as you, Caden was waking every 2-3 hours for weeks , the past few nights 3-4 hrs and one night he slept 6 hours! yay! He also has had acid reflux. Does your baby use Zantac? It helped for a bit with Caden, but he seems to be growing out of it finally and sleeping that little bit longer. He is 16 weeks. I have him in bed with me cos I didn't want to get up 3,4 or more times a night with him. He sleeps much better with me.

dawnybobs - Friday, 6 June

dawnybobs - Tuesday, 20 May
hi yeah im stil breast feeding !!! i am so so proud of myself as i didnt happen with the boys but rudy has taken to it so well and i am glad i percervered, he has had 1 or 2 bottles though and he seemed to love them too but they made him constipated and they didnt make him sleep any longer which is what i was hoping for so he hasnt had a bottle of formula for about 4 weeks and anyway he sleeps from 7pm to 4-5am just on my breast milk!!!
i have been expressing and freezing my milk for whenever i want to go out or whatever though- but so far ive not needed to use it.
how are your other kids with treyson i bet your daughter loves him!!

Maddux - Tuesday, 20 May
Good grief you poor thing! i don't know how you keep up with that schedule at night. We finally settled on the Dr. Brown's bottles, she takes them very well. We are still using the level 1 nipples, I don't think she could handle the number 2's. She is going 3-4 hours between feedings during the day and a 6 hour stetch at night so bottle feeding is working well. Does he feed often during the day too? Julia was a "snacker" when we were breastfeeding so she wanted to eat all the time.

cko1522 - Tuesday, 20 May
The rice cereal is doing great. He just had a big spit up, but all in all, I think his spit has been less and less since we started. Its been maybe about 5 days and we are putting in 1 tsp per 2 oz of formula. But it seems with this reflux crap that its such a day by day thing. But I really do think the rice cereal has helped. He is on Prevacid too, which I think is also making him a lot more comfortable. Hoping this stays the same or gets even better. I hate to jinks things....sometimes it seems everytime I tell someone its getting better, he has an aweful day the next day. Anyway, hope your little one feels better soon. :)

Maddux - Tuesday, 20 May
I ended up going to bottle feeding for the same reasons. I am still giving her breastmilk but just in a bottle now...I'm pumping instead of feeding her directly. It has been really nice, she eats every 3 hours now and eats about 4 oz. at a time. She weighs 11 lbs. 8 oz. I had to try 4 different bottles until I found one she really liked but it was worth it. I'm glad to hear the medicine is working. He is on Zantac right? I might talk to my pediatrician about upping her dose as she continues gaining weight.

dawnybobs - Saturday, 17 May
 excellent photo!

cko1522 - Friday, 16 May
My baby has reflux too. Sucks. He was on Zantac for a couple of weeks. Marginal improvement. We just switched him to Prevacid. We'll see how that goes. He'll be three months soon and although he is young, we are going to try rice cereal to see if that helps with the spit up. Poor kids. :( They will get through this though and we will soon forget all about it....at least that is what people keep telling me.

Maddux - Friday, 16 May
My daughter was doing those things too. She would stop eating and arch her back and cry when nursing. She would also cry during burping and spit up a lot! I don't feel like she is on a big enough dose of the zantac, especially seeing how much your little one was on. She only gets a total of .9 ml a day. I hope the new medicine helps. One nice thing that helped me is I put Julia on a schedule because she was sleeping alot during the day and not at night. The last three nights she has slept stretches of 6, 7.5, and 5 hours. She was born March 12th. Do you notice any change today with the new medicine? I hear that one works better than Zantac.

suzi - Friday, 16 May
maja has reflux she just got her zantac dose increased cause the .3ml wasnt working now as of today we went to the GI dr, she is on .5ml 3x a day and she took her off the nutramigen and i started enfamil AR she has been crying all day long since 3weeks old from pain, dr said to try the higher dose and AR and today she seemed better, she said at ten to 12 weeks if zantac doenst work she will put her on prevacid.

Maddux - Friday, 16 May
My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux too, she is on zantac right now. I'm sorry to hear that didn't work for your little one. So far, it seems to be working for julia but the dose seems so low...she is on .3 three times a day. What dose was yours on? I have heard good things about prilosec. What type of symptoms did you see him have?

dawnybobs - Thursday, 15 May
9 10 omg!!! yeah I agree about big babies though! although Im sure 3lb of rudy was his cheeks haha!
I wanted to get him weighed this week as he turned 2 months so i arrived on time on the tuesday at the clinic....and baby clinic is a monday!!! aaaagh baby brain haha so i have no idea what he weighs but at 6 week check he was 12lbs 9oz - he seems to have steadied out now though and doesnt look so huge! probably cos im still feeding him myself as apparently they dont gain as much- i bottle fed the boys so i am so proud of myself to have managed to breast feed him! he just took to it sooo much better and i think its cos he was a bigger/hungrier baby?
