nobody tells you how you're going to feel after you give birth.would anyone like to share with me how they felt the days after they gave birth?please :)

today i am 35 weeks and 1 day pregnant, i am getting soooooo excited and anxious for my little girl to finally come. i can't beleive i only have 5 weeks to go, it seems like only last week i found out i was pregnant! well today i had a doctors appointment, i am measuring 34cm, baby's heart beat is 150-160bpm, happy baby!! :D and i have not gained any weight in 2 months!! i have gained a total of 18 pounds so far. i don't know why i haven't been gaining any more weight, i'm eating like a cow! but my midwife said she wasn't worried about it yet, so that's good. well last saturday on the 9th was my baby shower, i got all kinds of cool stuff including the cutest stroller and car seat!! today me and my boyfriend started setting up baby's room. she's sharing a room with us, but she's getting most of it. next week i go in for my strep b test, i hope it's negative, i'm also probably going to get my cervix checked to see if i'm dialated at all.

i have been having stomach and side cramping, has anyone else been having this? i know they're not contractions cuz my stomach isn't tightening up.

first of all let me just apologize to everyone that i haven't written back yet, i have just been so busy with the baby! so i had jadyn on july 14th, i went into labor at 4 a.m. and had her at 6:39 p.m. it's been almost a month, so i'll write my birth story as best as i can remember it.....

birth story:

at around 4 a.m. on the 14th of july i started getting these really bad cramps in my lower abdomen, it felt exactly like the cramping i got when my midwife stretched my cervix. they were about 10 minutes apart. i didn't think i was in labor or anything though because my belly wasn't tightening up, so i just tried to go back to sleep. i couldn't fall asleep though because they just hurt so bad, so at around 6:30 a.m. i called my mom to see if she knew what it was, she told me to go to the hospital just to be safe. i told her i would, but i waited a little while. finally i couldn't take it anymore, i asked my boyfriend to call the hospital and ask them if they thought i should come in, and they said i should, so we went. we arrived at the hospital and i got into my gown, and by then i started bleeding, i'm guessing that was my bloody show, so i knew i was in labor then. the nurse checked me and i was at about 3 cm. dilated, contractions were about 6 minutes apart then. i was admitted into the hospital at 8:30 a.m. and i got checked into my room (i got one of the 2 rooms with the tub :D) i asked for the pain meds, so they gave me some through the iv, i forgot what it was called, but it hardly worked, it just made me groggy. around noon my midwife came and checked me, still 3 cm. so she suggested breaking my water at around 2:00 if i still wasn't progressing, . i got in the tub... it was sooooo nice! i got out after about 20 minutes though because i was bored. at 2:30 my midwife came back and broke my water because i was still only 3-3 1/2 cm dilated. immediately after that my contractions started coming on so much stronger and closer together. so i was begging for the epidural, but the anesthesiologist was in surgery, so i had to wait, i was in soooo much pain! after i had my water broken i couldn't go back into the tub, so they made me get up out of bed, which i was not happy about, and they wheeled me into a new room. a little while later, i'm not sure what time, the anesthesiologist was FINALLY out of surgery, so he came and gave me my epidural, which was very painful, but very worth it! right after that they checked me, and i was at 8 cm. and i got the catheter. then the baby's heart rate dropped, so i had to use the oxygen and get on my hands and knees until it came back up, and they stuck the internal heart rate monitor on her head, i was so worried that it was hurting her, but they assured me it wasn't. after all that was over, i called the nurse back in because i was feeling a little pressure, so she checked me, and i was at 10 cm. so she went and got my midwife and told me it almost that time to start pushing. so my midwife got there along with a few other nurses, they held my legs up and i started pushing. i kept asking if she was crowning, she asked if i wanted a mirror to look, i said no way!! lol. anyway, so i was pushing and pushing, then she told me to stop, then start again, and in one more big push Jadyn was born. i only pushed for an hour :) she was born at 6:39 p.m. july 14, weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces, and 21 inches long. she was, and still is absolutely perfect! the nurses that helped with the delivery said it was one of the most beautiful births they had ever seen! i did tear though and had to get a few stitches, no big deal. now Jadyn is almost a month old and i still can't believe it, i love being a mother so much even though it can be very stressful more often than not.
