December was the happiest month I can ever remember. Russell and I got pregnant, found out, and shared our very happy news with friends and family right away. I was showered with love and congratulations and was downright giddy most of the time. The nausea and exhaustion were more than I ever expected in the first trimester, but I'm still as happy as ever.

It's a girl! Rose Emiliana is due to arrive on August 28th!

The 2nd trimester was great, although I was tired. I was so nice to see my tummy getting rounder...and I got to feel her move every day. She responded to Russell's voice, my students, and avante garde jazz.

When trimester three came, I got so tired. Some days, I slept 20 hours! I thought that this is why people got sick of being pregnant. That was until I got diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. For the first few days, I was so worried, angry, and confused. I couldn't figure out what to do and how to keep Rose safe. Well, within days, I started feeling better. I changed my diet right away, and after consulting with a nurse and dietician, I started being more active. I got a blood meter, and I haven't had one elevated blood sugar since I've started! Yipee. I'm now feeling better than any other part of my pregnancy...excluding the weirdo pains.

Russell and I just finished the nursery. My favorite part was when we created name art for over her crib! Now, we're just waiting to meet baby Rose and take her home.

Read my blog to the right to find out more.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Well you're very sweet but I am looking quite big these days. When did you start getting stretch marks? Do you remember the month? I know Im going to deflate & be jiggily...so looking forward to that. If I have no stretch marks now Im wondering if I should be optimistic or if they just come much later. Sorry to expose to you my awful vanity!

Yes I have a boppy thank goodness, I was not going to let that one pass. The sandwich hold is how you hold your breast when the baby is across your chest. Its how you would hold a sandwich. I was taught to put the nipple to her top lip until she opens up wide to fully latch.

I absolutely love the picture of you & Rose staring at each other, its just magical. Shes so beautiful, I love her lips!

We leave Tuesday yay! cant wait. I have lots of shoots booked when I return so I really, really, really need the break.
I saw that featherbaby has more on sale but Ive already ordered about 10 tings so I need to hold back for now. I am going to do an order for when shes about 12 months & get yummy sweaters & things!

I hope you are well, happy, rested & loving your life!
PS- how long does Russell have off?

I am, we have finished putting her bed together and washed all the sheets and blankets and i'm now in the process of going through her clothes and getting them organized. My husbands family is going to buy us a dresser so that will help us out a lot.

did you get a changing table? I've contemplated getting one i just don't know if i'll use it.

Oh i've been meaning to ask you, how was the epidural? Was it painful or a relief?

GinaMummy - Saturday, 30 August
Thanks so much for your congrats, sorry its taken me so long to reply, things a little hectic around here!!! I was very lucky and had a wonderful birth experience. Just a few stitches to recover from now, but other than that doing well.
My little one is wonderful and I am enjoying every second of being a mummy again.

How are you doing? Hope this message finds you well.

Gina xxx

adlde - Saturday, 30 August
Thank you so much for your tips!! I will take any and all that I can get!!

So, on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad does it initially hurt?

krissynben - Saturday, 30 August
Nope not my time AT ALL lol, been hosting a bbq today and feeling gr8 lol, send me some labour dust! perlease x

alishaB - Saturday, 30 August
I just knew Rose would be a partier! You must be supplying some good stuff. You are lucky she has a hoover suck! Some babies have a hard time sucking at all. The pain will go away very soon. Did she latch on right away? Did you do the sandwich hold? Thats what I was taught:)

Im feeling just so dreadfully pregnant today! I have zero energy & I feel heavy & huge. I got a reflection in a store window & just about died at my size....my ass, my tum, my everything. We walked to the coffee shop to get a bagel this morning & it winded me! I had to go home & lay down. Pathetic! Ive been so good about my power walking everyday but today I could hardly make it back home. Its so humid here its like soup. I envy that you can now bend over, pull up your pants, shave, walk with a spring in your step (okay maybe not yet).

How much bigger are your boobies? Mine haven't grown much at all, Im still wearing my old bras.
Did you get stretch marks? I haven't yet but I'm wondering if they'll creep up on me later. I pray not.

I got my featherbaby stuff too, its all so beautiful. I will definitely be ordering lots from there in the future.

You sound so content & at peace. So happy to hear Rose is such a good baby! You must be falling in Love with Russell all over again when he is with Rose! I can just imagine how very sweet it must be to witness. I cant wait.

Please keep in touch between feedings & changings! I love to hear the progress & want to keep up on everything.
Will be away all of next week.
xo

emsfirstbebe - Saturday, 30 August
Hey Adrienella! I'm so glad everything went well for you, except for your birthing plans getting tossed out the window! That must have been frustrating. How's beautiful little Rose doing? I stopped breastfeeding (pumping) a few weeks ago because I wasn't keeping up with Sarina's appetite increase, even when I pumped more frequently, so I weaned her to formula. I had continued to pump because I wanted to measure exactly what she was getting, like when she was in hospital. I was fortifying the milk anyway and she wasn't gaining much weight, but now she's up to 7 lb 6 oz this week - exactly 3 lbs up and right where she should be, since she was due now. Oh, and the uterus shrinkage, it gave me the worst cramps the first few days!! They were like bad menstrual cramps.

Well the lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me, I'm all scatterbrained. I was before anyway, but now it's worse - screws and nuts all over the damned place LOL. Mario is such a big help but he's the one working so I try not to have him do too much. He watches the baby sometimes at night while I run out to do errands, which is nice. How are you adjusting to mom life?

Baby3onway - Saturday, 30 August
Oh we had so much fun at the park. Next weekend its the citys fair so if I don't have the baby by then I am hoping that all the walking will do me some good and get me going once I get home from there... or after we get the kids picture done there HAHA we will have to see what the DR says about induction and such this Thursday!

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
aww go to bed. niters. i hope baby sleeps a couple hours for u. lata gata

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
oh it will. man u did so great taking care of urself with the GD...way to go dude. i can't believe u r less than before pregnancy, that is insanity. i feel like SUCH a cow right now. u can easily lose 20 lbs. oh if u lived here i would make you box with me. i took real muay thai kickboxing and boxing for a while...like at a boxing gym. talk about being in shape. it kicks ur butt and teaches you major discipline. can't wait to go back

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
what is this sleep you speak of?

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
mac staunchly believes this baby is a boy and tells me everyday. kyrie doesn't care....she just wants her mom back. lol. im kinda not the nicest person when preggers. everyone has given me lots of grace. i think everyone has about run out. lol...i can't blame them really. both the kids are excited. kyrie tends to be very selfish and self centered and will probably try to make this about her in some way. lol. gosh i sound so horrible. Kyrie really really is amazing. she is very athletic and hyper and knows everyone! she has a zeal and zest for life and a natural leading ability...but she has a horrible attitude and is also going thru puberty very early. she had to see a pediatric endocrinologist at 8 cuz she was already getting pubic hair...like down there. so now she is 10 and has full on hair...like an adult woman. it's hard to see. she wears a bra and we have to shave her armpits and legs already. it's intense. she has acne and oily hair and pms....she will get her period soon. alritey...wow im like telling u my whole life tonite

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
well the tightness will never fully return unless u r REAL fortunate. i know some people who look like they never had children and never got surgery. i hate those people. lol. honestly...i look at it like a battle wound to remind you of what you went thru for that life ya know? it will get better over time and the marks will fade...but u may always have something to pinch there. i know i do even after losing all kinds of weight twice. i won't get surgery even tho i might want it cuz it wouldn't really be me and I'm pretty happy with who I am. just don't beat urself up and give urself time. u r beautiful.

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
i love this pic sooo much. this captures her perosonality in such a deep way. i know it sounds like i prefer mac. I love both of my children equally. really. but there is something about mac that is different than the average 6 year old. a depth and understanding that kyrie or any other kid does not have. we have this game we play where i ask if i can eat like her ears or her toes or random things like her kidneys...total joke...and she responds according to what the function is of whatever i say. so if i say, "mac...can i eat your ears" she says, "no, i need them to hear" and so on. i stump her with kidneys and spleen cuz she has no idea what those things are for. SO funny. well i ask her if I can eat her heart (i know...gross) and she responds with, "no mom....I need that to hear God" yeah....im sure u get what im saying. unbelievable

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
do u want the truth or do u want me to lie to you? lol. just checkin first.

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
aww thanks:) i don't look like this anymore. my face is pregnant now too. yay

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
i just sent u a novel. no really.

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
both my girls are in my pix:) Mac is the one laying her head on my tummy and the other one is Kyrie...where she is sitting next to me. good pix:) i didn't know u were a teacher. are you going to go back? it takes seriously special people to teach kids. u r amazing.
with mac i could probably be more of an advocate. her preschool teachers really pressed me to get evaluated for autism totally not listening to me when i told them her issues. it irritated me and that is the only reason i did it. when we had her very first iep meeting several years ago the dean was there and i leaned over the table and looked at all of them and said, "just so you know, even if mac were to be found autistic nothing in her life would change." i told them im not one of those moms who is going to only have friends whose kids have autism and have meetings at my house and announce to everyone that my kid has a label and only let her have autistic friends and go to 5 million meetings a month. i was ready to get reamed by them but i didn't care. the dean looked at me and said, "we need to have more mothers of autistic kids like you" it absolutely blew me away but it made me feel good. i should not have to turn my life or my household upside down for this. who frickin decides what normal is for cryin out loud, ya know? i am so passionate about this you have no idea. i think that the way i have done things for mac has been more beneficial than if I had babied her.
ok im done with my ramblings. sorry.
mac and kyrie do get along for the most part. mac is kinda like monk (the show...if u know it) she is very anal and particular and kyrie is chaotic so they don't always mesh. but they love each other. mac is a cuddle bug and loves to love people and kyrie LOVES attention. they are both excited about the baby but have a rude awakening coming. they have no real idea what is about to hit their world. LOL
how r u doing?

shaunac - Saturday, 30 August
im here...it's 1230...u up?
