Hey everyone! My name is Amy, my husband's name is Josh. This is my first pregnancy, and getting more excited by the week. We have a lot to think about...my job doesn't offer maternity leave, I am a musician in a band-so the guys aren't exactly ecstatic that shows will be put on hold...and I have Cystic Fibrosis. Lots and lots of things to think about! So slowly but surely, the worry is going away and I am getting to the really excited point. We've been to the doctor twice, and they don't seem to be concerned about my health, which is good. The rest, I guess, is up to God, so I'll let Him handle it. ;o)

The most exciting part so far has been deciding on names! Since I'm so into music, I want music names. My husband and I are HUGE Tennessee Titans fans, so he wants Titans middle names. So we decided on a girl's name being Adia Lee (Adia after the Sarah Machlachlan song, Lee is my middle name) and Jackson Fisher (Jackson after the Johnny Cash song and Fisher after the Titans head coach!) Kinda funny, but meaningful too.

I'd love to meet more mommys, so please write me!

It sounds like you had a little bit of braxton hicks which can be brought on by dehydration.. In the Texas heat sitting with no air for any period of time could make our poor pregnant body's temp rise and cause us to be dehydrated, even if we don't "feel" dehydrated. This is my second preg and I have called my docs office more times with this pregnancy than last! Who cares what the nurses, your mom, or whoever else thinks. - it's not their body and it's not their baby! You have every right to be concerned. Better safe than sorry right? Please tell your doc about it too. Doc will probably tell you to drink a full 16 oz water and to lay on your left side and wait until the pains go away, and if they don't then doc will probably want you to call. Again, better safe than sorry!

no problem.....just thinkn of it this way...we'll only see those nurses for what the next 8 weeks at the most...then never again so who cares what they think!! better safe then sorry for us!

Hi There. Just saw your post in week 32. What you described sounds like early labour. As luck would have it, a chapter in my pregnancy book spoke about this a week ago. Here is what it says: Early signs that you may be in labour are:

- Cramps, like period pains, that may be accompanied by nausea, diarrhoea or indigestion

- Increasing pain or feeling of pressure in lower back

- Unusual or persistant achiness or feeling of pressure in the pelvic floor, thighs or goin

- A watery or pinkish brownish discharge, possibly preceded by the passage of thick mucas pllug that has been blocking your cervix

- Fluid from your vagina (waters breaking) which means that the amniotic sack has ruptured

If it is labour, the contractions will get closer together / more painful - and wont stop.

Hun, I think you should just call your doctor and tell them what you told us - I also hate calling my doc for what I think at the time are 'silly questions' - but it really sounds like you might have had pre-term labour, or at least serious braxton hicks. I think the doc needs to decide if they need to keep a closer eye on you based on the experience you had. Good luck and best wishes xx

i'd call the hospital labor and delivery and talk to the on call doc and let her know what happened...thats what they are there for..ive gone in multiple times (not for hte same thing) and everytime i feel stupid like this was pointless...the nurse said we'd rather see you 30 times adn nothing be wrong then you not come in that one tiem and something be worng..not that im saying something is wrong..ima first timer myself but to me that sounds like contractions and going into labor, but i dont really know anything so i couldnt say...i'd just call the on call doc and ask if its anything to worry about...31 weeks isnt TOO early to go into labor...if you were they would want to stop it atleast til 35/36 weeks so the lungs could develop...if you think your farther along (as do i they gave me 6 due dates throughout this) they can do an amniocentisis (not very fun but its accurate) and see how developed the lungs are and that will actually be the only hting that can tell you exactly how developed they are.....i wouldnt go reccomending that procedure unless you need it though..idk if you know what it is but its where they stick a long needle through your stomach and test the amniotic fluid aorund the baby...i dont know if this helps any lol but good luck!

Hi there. I read your post from last week in...constipation. First, I just want to say, about meeting people in forums called Constipation--It ain't right. Just ticks me off that I ever had to click on that link! I've been having quite a time as well, but I do have one thing that has helped. Water. I mean a ton of it. If I drink a minimum of 10 glasses a day (or milk, or juice, or lemonade, just nothing with caffeine), I get relief. It seems like so much, but even still, after my second pee break int he middle of the night, I feel thirsty. I never thought I could feel thirsty if I were drinking so much. I was away this wkend and couldn't get the fluids I needed, and I built up a huge belly full of YUCK. I flooded myself all day yesterday, and today I am beginning to clear it all out and feel a bit better. Caffeine is a diuretic (makes you pee), which steals water from the intestines, so I have almost none of it. I drink much more than I eat. Sometimes I see a piece of bread or cake or pasta, and I think EWWWW, Do you know how long that's going to sit in my GUT if I eat it??? I WISH it were only a first trimester symptom so it would just go away in another week or two. I'm sorry you're feeling lousy. And I'm sorry that your OB office isn't making it any easier for you. That's so frustrating. Making a baby is hard enough work. I hope you can get some relief.

Oh yeah. One of my good friends has Cystic Fibrosis. She just delivered her first baby full term about a month ago. She and the baby are both doing great!

jsshrt - Tuesday, 20 May
I feel the same way about getting any bigger. I'm not sure how it is going to happen! If I am already getting beat up under my ribs, whats next? My lungs?!!! This is my second child and I do not remember my first being so high. I think she stayed very low the whole time. I guess I can only wait and see what happens. I go to the dr's today. I am not looking forward to hopping on thhe scale!

Hi aeji143 I just wanted to offer you some advice and hopefully relief for your constipation. Try some psyllium husk - it is 100% natural soluble fibre. You just mix 1 tspn into a glass of water or juice and drink it. You can drink it up to 3 times each day. It provides very fast relief and is completely safe and natural. I use it daily & have throughout all my pregnancies. I live in Australia and it is for sale in a packet from health food stores for around $6.00. If you do try it, let me know how you go. Good Luck!!

Well we did his room in a baby blue which turned out really nice. I live in the country and I have a country theme house, so his room in has cute country baby animals, like baby mouse, baby bear, baby racoons, things like that. It really looks cute. We too have a very busy summer so we have started early jsut incase. We didn't want to end up runnig around like chickens with their heads cut off. Your babies room sounds very cute as well. Something I would have never guessed to do. Is it not exciting doind the babies room. I loved it. We are not completely done it but for the most part we are.

Hi aejh143. We had a 3D done at 19 weeks. You can see a couple of the images of my little boy's face on my page. 3D is totally amazing, I hope you enjoy the experience :D

I read about your situation with the baby shower at work and yes...there are some silly people out there. I feel that if they did not want to attend then they should not show up!!! This is a time for joy....dont let that silly nameless person spoil your joy at work! :-) Just my 2cents.

kar - Tuesday, 6 May
Thanks for responding. The worst for me is during the morning when I'm at work. 'Cause I just sit there and nibble on stuff. And by the time my brain tells my stomach to stop, it's too late and I feel like a beached whale!
On the weekends its ok, 'cause I'm more on the go.
Oh well...the joys of being pregnant!

julluv-08 - Tuesday, 6 May
no its photoshopped ! I found it on photobucket and I thought it was so cute!!!

m0th3r2b - Tuesday, 6 May
I just read your post about the invites to the shower and shook my head in disbelief. Whomever wrote that letter is the rude one lmao. I can understand your frustration b\c you had nothing to do with distributing the invites. It was only fair for the person who's thowing you the shower to drop an invite in everyones box so no one felt left out. They were too much of a coward to put their name on it, I have a feeling they like causing drama b\c they have no life, and or are completely jealous. I hope karma bites them in the ass.
All the best to you throughout your pregnancy and have a fun and happy shower :)

ghmom - Tuesday, 6 May
I wouldnt worry too much about your doctor appointment. My doctor changed my date 3 times. I finally decided to go by my ultrasound date. Now that I have that date, that is what I am going with. Because the doctor is just going by your measurements.

mommyrock - Tuesday, 6 May
I get so confused on all of that too. I would think it would change on Wednesdays

nickee - Tuesday, 6 May
I just read your post. I was getting mad just reading it! I can't believe how rude people are. And you are right what a chicken for not putting their name. I am sure it was someone that is very jealous of you.

shyatt80 - Tuesday, 6 May
I just read your post in 21 weeks. HOW RUDE! I cannot believe that people would react that way. I guess they don't realize that people don't throw themselves a baby shower and that it was someone ELSE who sent those invites out.... How irritating! I wouldn't let it get me though! Whoever it was is just jealous.

mommyrock - Monday, 5 May
Wow, I just read your post on 21 weeks, that was rude of that person. Someone is VERY jealous. Why can't people just be happy for other people instead of being jealous and RUDE. I'm irritated with you.

prego22 - Saturday, 3 May
With my first pregnancy I was the same way - very emotional and scared about alot of things. Having a baby is such a big change and when you havent had one yet it is really scary. I know that alot of my emotions stemmed from being afraid of the unknown.
I wont even try to tell you not to worry. I know that wont help because you just have to find out for yourself, but having a baby is not that expensive. It is life changing but you will feel so blessed and wonder how you ever lived without this baby. It will bring you adn your hubby closer and your life will go back to normal. Just know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and also that you are not alone. I think every woman feels scared and out of whack when pregnant. Hang in there - everything will work out and you will look back at your actions and laugh. Hope this helps at least a little.
