In the beginning of nursing (first few months) it was the feeling that kinda took your breath away. Or it may have tightened your stomach or made you feel like throwing up. If you didnt feel any of that you can tell when you are letting down by your baby they will be swallowing more rapidly or gulping and making a lot of noise. hth..

Yippee! Glad to hear you're giving it another try. It's soooo good for both of you
Sounds like we're at the same place with the tummy time. We try to do it every day, but Karson's not too crazy about it. He does spend time laying on his belly when he's on our chests, but he really doesn't like laying on his play mat like that. I agree with your concern about Mikey getting a flat head. I have 3 friends who's infants have had misshaped heads, one required that he wear a cranial band to correct the problem. The other two were able to rotate their babies sleeping positions and get them off their backs to resolve the issue. Good luck! I'll let you know how it goes here!
The little guy just woke up. Better go!

Could you continue to b/f and supplement? I don't know enough about that.... I feel really bad for you. You put so much effort into making it work! He'll be fine either way though.
My husband and I went out to dinner with some friends tonight and left Karson with my parents for the first time. We were gone for 3 hours - we left them with an ample supply of milk and lots of instructions. When we went to pick him up, he was still in his car seat in exactly the same position he was in when we left!! He slept the WHOLE time! Now, I bet ya he'll be up all night :)

Aww! Sorry to hear that. How old is Michael now? At least he got some milk from you (especially the colostrum). That will make a difference. You shouldn't feel bad about your decision. You gave it your best try!
I am very lucky to have a supportive husband. I took him with me to the breastfeeding class that was offered through the hospital and I swear that is why we were successful. He was there the first try and reminded me of the things I'd forgotten.
Thanks for the compliment on Karson's hair. He gets lots of attention where ever he goes :) We've ventured out a little. We've gone visiting at the library I work at and out to eat a few times. THAT is one benefit of bottle feeding. We're always trying to time everything around feeding times. I'm too shy (and not coordinated enough) at this point to feed in public so it's a little isolating.
Take care. Thanks for keeping me updated. Hopefully Michael will have smooth sailing from now on.

I hope you have great luck with your breastfeeding marathon!! I've been wondering how it's going. What do you mean you don't have support at home? I'll be sending good thoughts your way!!
When Karson was about 2 weeks old, I had a dream that I had shut myself in the bathroom and was screaming at my husband that he didn't understand what it was like to have lobsters pinched onto my nipples all day long. It was pretty funny, but must have reflected something I was feeling. Now, whenever he makes a comment about me asking him to do something for me yet again, I just say, "at least you don't have lobsters pinched onto your nipples." Ha! I'm very lucky to have a husband who also believes that breastfeeding our son is the best thing we can do for him.
Karson seems to have come out of his grumpy phase for now. We're having so much fun in the mornings when he's the happiest. He coo's and smiles soooo big. He's such a flirt!
Please keep me posted on your progress.

Hello. I just read your comment and I know how you feel! I have been struggling with this for the past 8 weeks with low supply. So i just wanted to share what I did with a lactation specialist in the area and congrats on the breastfeeding and with sticking to it! It is a labor of love but so worth it for your little one. My problem was my son would fuss alot and has been slow to gain weight. He is getting enough nutrition as he has gained weight consistently, just slow and had 8-12 dirty diapers a day. The main issue was that he never seemed fully content after most of his feedings and when I pump I am only getting 1-2 ounces. The lactation specialist recommended pumping for 10-15 minutes after each feeding in the morning and early afternoons (not easy but do your best). Even if you don't get anything out you are stimulating your body to make more. I also rented a hospital grade pump~she said that the hospitals ones help you establish a supply where the ones at home just pump extra but they can help too. I have been doing this for the lst 3 days and I do already see a difference with his feedings~much more content and MUCH less fussiness. I now pump almost 7 ounces a day (which is a huge increase from the 1-2 a day). Seems to be helping me but I highly recommend going to see a lactation specialist and also seeing if there is a group that meets near you. It was so nice just to have someone tell me I am doing things right and boost my confidence because I have been struggle for the last 8 weeks with this. I hope this helps (sorry it is a little long!).
