Soooooooo........I am pregnant with a little girl named Alana Michelle. She is going to be a little sister to Alexander, my 1 year old son. He was born premature @ 28 weeks but has no health problems and he is a great little boy, he's my sunshine : ) I have been married for 3 years to a soldier and we live at Fort Bragg, NC.

I'm super excited to meet my little one, but its mixed with alot of anxiety and uncertainty. At 14 weeks I found out that she has what is called a giant omphalocele...that means that most of her abdominal organs- her intestines, liver, and stomach are growing in a pouch outside of her abdomen. I was told that there was a good chance that she had a chromosome abnormality and some doctors even encouraged me to abort her. After several more tests including an amniocentesis, we are now pretty confident that this is an isolated defect. I know we have a long road of recovery and surgeries ahead of us but I'm sure she will be a lovely little girl and I am hoping after we get through this she will be able to lead a normal life.
