Hello! I'm a nursing student from Pennsylvania hoping to graduate in May 2009, but my plans might have to change because I'm expecting a baby around the time the fall semester begins. No big deal if I have to wait another year to graduate. This pregnancy wasn't planned, but it has served its purpose by motivating me to want to finish school and put my priorities in order. I now have a precious life other than my own to think about.
My LMP was on Nov. 25, 2007 and according to my doctor my due date is around August 31, 2008. My sister-in-law is pregnant with her second child and is due the same week as me. It will be nice to have someone else to be miserable with this summer.
Dec. 30, 2007: Took my first pregnancy test because my period didn't decide to show up and it came back negative. I was pretty excited about it being negative.
Jan. 7, 2008: Period was still missing and I had already scheduled an exam at the gyno because I was due for one. So on a whim I decided to pee on the second stick and within seconds it turned blue meaning positive. I can't explain how I felt when I saw the line instantly turn blue. I kept it a secret for two days. How I did that? I don't know! I didn't want to tell my boyfriend over the phone so I waited until I could see him in person.
Jan. 9, 2008: Today I had an appointment at the gyno for a check up. I had scheduled it a few weeks prior to thinking I was pregnant. Today they basically just confirmed the pregnancy. My boyfriend tagged along and I wound up telling him the second pregnancy test was positive right when we were leaving for the doctor. Not exactly how I wanted him to find out that I was pregnant, but I didn't know what else to do. He was stunned, but said things would be okay.
Feb. 18, 2008: I had a prenatal appointment today which lasted a whole 5 minutes. Today was week 12 in my pregnancy and the doctor tried to hear the heart beat, but couldn't find it. He was like "Damn, kid I know you're in there!". He didn't seem concerned and pointed out the sound that the placenta made. *shrug* Hopefully everything's OK. I go back on March 17th.
March 7, 2008: To sum up my pregnancy so far I'd have to say it's uneventful which is a good thing. M/S? What's that! Hah, I haven't experienced it although I thought I had it last weekend, but I think i had the 24 hour stomach flu. Gosh, that was terrible. For the most part I'm doing great. I don't exhibit many pregnancy symptoms other than obviously not having a period and I'm super tired and moody. My sister-in-law has M/S. Better her than me. :) Hmm what else.... I'm still nervous about the whole becoming a mom thing. Guess with time I'll gain more confidence in myself. We'll see. Ooooh the first half of the semester I did clinicals in Labor and Delivery. I was able to observe a c-section and I saw a natural birth the other day. It was an amazing experience! I don't plan on working in labor and delivery once I'm done with school, but I thought it was still interesting.
