I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and was told that getting pregnant was going to be very difficult so I feel extraordinarily grateful and thrilled to be here! We've been through the ringer this past year with surgeries, Clomid, Metformin and lots of acupuncture. I still can't believe I have this teeny bean inside relying on me for everything:) I love her sooo much its crazy.

ITS A GIRL!!!!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

We do see eye to eye on many things...and the differences are interesting, too. I'm more polyester than organic cotton, but it's nice to learn from you and wonderful to share. I think we'd be great friends.

I went out with Rose for a long walk today. I had the nastiest burrito on earth for lunch, but it was wonderful to get out in the sun and actually walk. I'm debating whether or not to go to the gym tomorrow. I'd have to put Rose in the daycare, but there are never any babies or kids in there. My gym is super-nice, like a spa. It's so clean and I really want to swim. I think I just might do it.

We both had a good night's sleep! Rose slept 7 freaking hours in a row! My boobs were starting to take over the bed, so I had to get up to feed her!

What are you up to today?

I never did send you that beef stew recipe:

Measurements are made up...can't remember how much!

Use a 3 to 4 pound lean roast or whatever beef's on sale. Have the butcher cut it into 1 1/2 to 2 inch cubes for you.

Cut up 6 carrots and two big onions and saute in a pan with olive oil, salt, and pepper

Saute the beef (so you sear the edges.

Dump all of this, plus at least a half bottle of red wine (I use $2 Trader Joe's Merlot or Cab), 1/2 can of tomato paste and 1 tsp. of cinnamon and 1 tsp of cloves in a crockpot. Cook for 5 hours or longer. The longer you cook it, the better it tastes. I usually end up adding more wine, cloves, and cinnamon as I cook it.

You can use really, really lean meat because the wine acts as a tenderizer.

Serve with a salad, crusty bread and cheese or egg noodles or mashed potatoes, and of course...WINE!

I got the smock dress both in purple and print. It's so so beautiful and the kind of dress that she could grow quite a bit and still fit in. It's something I'm sure I'll save. I've gotten everything in 0-3 months, but I'm sure I'll get more as she grows. I have spent about $200 on featherbaby...all thanks to you!! I have a lot of beautiful clothes for Rose once she's a bit bigger, but I needed some tiny things.

The debates are interesting. I thought they both started out rather blah. I was wondering where Obama's fire was. He's becoming more charismatic near the end. Russell thinks it's a tactic because McCain doesn't have the stamina to last an hour and a half.

I didn't ask my mother in law about babysitting after all. She came bearing a ton of gifts for me and was a bit frazzled. Rose was cranky and gassy, so it wasn't the best time. I just made her gifts, accepted gifts, and begged Rose to be nice to her Nana. Russell's going to ask her tomorrow.

Here's some Cotton Caboodle stuff on sale...and some organic stuff. http://www.cutestbabyclothes.com/infantgirldepartment.html

What dress did you get BG? I'm not really a shopaholic, but I do love dressing Rose up...and I love featherbaby! I also love Anthropologie and will go back to check out their sale stuff this week. I don't like spending lots of money, but I like pretty things. Well, maybe I have to admit that I'm a bit of a shopaholic these days. As soon as I'm busy with work, I expect it to go away.

I'm so happy that Jess and Alex are well!

It's totally understandable that you might not feel "ready" when holding Alex. I felt awkward around infants before Rose came along and thought that it would make me a horrible mother. The minute I saw her, everything seemed so natural. It just seemed so easy to hold her, love her, all of that. When I have held my friend's baby since having Rose, I still feel a little weird. It's not at all like my own. You'll see. I promise. You'll be a natural mother.

I got the purple onesie, a white onesie for under dresses, the white leggings, and the purple smock dress. I think that the smock dresses are just gorgeous and the onesies couldn't be softer. I love them! I want to wear them myself!!!!!

I've bookmarked the site. I found things that I'd like, but I'm holding out because I have ANOTHER order coming from featherbaby today!

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
I was given a beautiful baby shirt by a brand called Absorba. It's soooooooo soft and cute. I think you'd like it. It doesn't say "Adorable" or anything.

I'm going to check that site for sure!

Have a great lunch and visit with Jess and Alex. I'm sure she'll love seeing you!

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
Holy cow! Jess is a superhero!!!

Rose is sleeping five hours at night almost every night, but she only did 4 and a half last night. I'm currently exhausted and contemplating a Starbuck's run. Scratch that. Rose just fell asleep. Now, I'm contemplating naps!

My mother in law is coming over for lunch which should be nice. Rose will get lots and lots of love today. Russell played with her this morning which was so sweet. She's been smiling at me today!!!

I absolutely love this band called Aqualung with Matt Hales. Well, for some crazy reason his record company dropped him before he could tour. I found out that he's playing in San Francisco which is just dreamy for me! It'll be next week, so I'll be asking my MILtoday if she'll babysit Rose for a long date for Russell and I. If she can't, I'll be going alone.

What are you doing after acupuncture?

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
Several of my pregnant friends took Claritin. Feel better!

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
yeah for Jess!!!! I'm sure you can do it, too. I really believe in you!

How long was Jess' labor? When's she coming home? Send her my well wishes!

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
Oh noooooooooo, I"m so sorry you're sick! I'd make you some chicken soup (although I don't know how that would help with allergies) if I was there.

I didn't know that you had allergies! I also didn't know you ever took medicine.

I was under the false assumption that breastfed babies didn't puke! SHe doesn't puke much, but she does do it!

It's funny...the two people that I've talked to on here with GD just had babies this week! THe other girl's baby was the same size as Rose and now Alex is 8 pounds. We were all so worried about big babies!

I got paperwork from my hospital telling me to come in and get another diabetes test. I'm not doing it. Russell and I decided it together. I'll just randomly test myself with the test strips and lancets that I have.

Have a great time at the acupuncturist. I hope you feel better really soon!

adriennella - Tuesday, 7 October
man, I wish I could come over for your dinner. Mine wasn't anything special, leftover PF Chang's with added eggs in the fried rice and veggies with the chicken.

I keep meaning to ask you if you have lots of little cloths. I always have either a flannel swaddling blanket or cloth diaper around for burping and spit ups. Also when I lay Rose down on the couch I put something under her face. Babies (even breastfed ones) spit up more than you'd think. I'm not a fan of bodily functions, so I can't even stand using them again and again. I'm constantly washing little cloths. Anyway, I'd say that it's good to have extra cloth diapers or something around for those little unexpected messes.

LOL, I guess I do sound dramatic with the maniac ex-beau and the French stalker!

heard from Jess yet?

Russell's dad is like a character out of The Royal Tenenbaums. He has a huge afro toupe and speaks in a hilarous way...indescribable. He kills me.

Wow, that's an incredible trip to Italy! I'm so jealous. How long were you there?

Travelling alone is lovely, but I honestly couldn't do Italy alone so easily. I don't like being followed. Paris has offered me the most troubles, though. I once got stalked by a crazy man there. He eventually pulled a knife on the front deskman that told him to leave me alone. Yikes.

At first I didn't bathe Rose often at all. I wanted her new skin to regulate. After about 3 weeks I found that her hair was getting oily every day, so I have been giving her a very gentle bath daily. I mostly use water with a touch of shampoo/body wash. Thankfully most of her baby acne is gone! Now I'm just waiting for this mullet to disappear!! Oh, what a shallow mommy I am. You know what's funny...even with the mullet and acne and cradle cap, she's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. Funny how that works.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I wonder why Russ and Charlie can't do the savory sweet thing. Russell thinks apricot chicken is just absurd. He can't do cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving or anything. Well, before I met him, he didn't really eat vegetables or real food. At our wedding, his dad said, "Before Russell met Adrienne, the only green thing to ever touch his lips was mint ice cream." His dad thinks that joke's so funny that he repeats it and repeats it. It's become so lame that it's actually funny.

Where did you travel in Italy? I've only ever been to Verona and Cinque Terre when I backpaced Europe alone. I loved it so much.

I'm glad you have Ximena. I think it's so important that you have some place where you can just be so comfortable. When talking to Russell about friendships recently, I told him that with my new friendships, people will have to be willing to talk to me about Rose, teaching, or cooking. If we don't have any of those things in common, I won't be having a new friendship. I have many wonderful friends already and with a baby it's hard to keep up a relationship. I'm not interested in making new friends that are a lot of work and take away from the friendships I already have. I'm rambling a bit....sorry.

Have you gotten baby bath items? I was gifted the standard Johnson's and Johnson's, but my doctor said not to use it. She recommended Aveeno and Burt's Bees. I used Aveeno at first, but I just got the Burt's Bees with my diapers.com order. Oh my goodness, it's the yummiest stuff. When I wash Rose in it, I just want to bury my face in her neck! I also got some apricot oil that helped with the cradle cap right away!
