Hi :) I am Alyssa. I live with my boyfriend Leon, and our puppy Fiona. We are pregnant with our first little baby and I am so excited. I want a girl, and he of course, wants a boy. Really, though, It doesn't matter... we are just really excited. We are heavily influenced by art and motivated by creativity (him being a web designer/graphic and myself, photographer) so I have a feeling we have a little artist in the oven... this expirience will be so amazing and I am excited to be able to talk to girls on here, since I have no pregnant friends . Some of the closest people to me are not longer living thier life, and so I will cherish this little one more than anyone will or could ever know. Yay for babies. xo

19 weeks, I finally have a little somethin poking out but not much. People are always like 'you dont look pregnant at all, and im like IM A TINY LADY WITH A TINY BELLY WHAT THE HELL???" LOL

Just read your note about wanting to move some where the sun shines all year round.. we need to do a swap.. i'd love to be infront of a roaring fire with it snowing outside. In the middle of winter we still normally have 15 C degree days and it hardly ever rains.. poor farmers! I guess we all want what we can't have :) It's a pretty great place to live really.. wonderful beaches.. this heat is just too intense for mum's to be :0

I feel like I'm showing after I've had dinner :) Also i have been getting bloated which makes me look like i;m 6 months :) but then there are times where my stomach is almost flat. Not long though.. surely they say you pop out around 14 weeks.. i can't wait to have a genuine bump :) How have you been feeling? I had a great week last week, felt back to my normal energetic self.. but we have had 10 days of 40 C degree heat here in South Australia and it's made me go back to napping at my desk.

Yeah it pretty hard to hear, make sure you find your HB in the pelvic area then your baby's will be twice as fast. The baby moves so it is always in a diff. spot. Normally right in the middle low pelvic region slant the wand downwards and holds there for a few seconds they move if your not picking up anything. Be carefull not to mistake yours for the baby's. Count the beats for 15 seconds then times by 4. :-) Mine was 152 at home and 155 at the doc.

I'm in Canada so it was Babytones.ca which it came in one day, in the US there's lots of sites like Storkradio.com, or bellybeats.com I think they even offer free shipping unlike for me. Check them out. Mine is a 3.5mhz and works great. Make sure you get the conductor jelly with it. Hope this helps! :)

I was having trouble too hearing the heartbeatand and waiting for the doc. appt. was crazy. So I rented a doppler and now I hear the heartbeat everyday. I manage to find it at 11 wks. You should rent one. Hope this helps. :)

there's nothing wrong with you. i still havent heard the heartbeat. i went to the doctor last week and we still couldnt pick it up with the doppler. every woman is different, so just because people in earlier weeks have heard theirs, doesnt mean there's anything wrong with us! dont worry.. i freaked out last week when we didnt get to hear out, but the doctor assured us it's fine, sometimes it's just hard to pick up. you'll hear it when it's time!

I totally feel you about the long winter...we live in KS, so not to far away from you in Iowa, and I am so ready for Spring and it to get nice. You look so pretty with your new new hair color. I am so glad that you are feeling well. You seem to be having a much better pregnancy then I did with my first, I was sick all the time. The grape thing cracked me up, I am on this kick where I want fruits and salads. They just taste so good to me. I bought some strawberries the other day, and I ate them all by myself in like two days. Must of hit the spot. I guess! Of all the things for me to like, guess that isn't a bad thing. Take care!! Hey there, I was just reading your blog about the pinching feeling you have on and off. I have that too. I was told it is the uterus stretching, so I guess its completly normal. Its hard to know whats normal and whats not when its your first, at least for me, everything worries me.

oh my goodness, i was SO excited today when we got to see the baby again! my fiance was like 'IT LOOKS LIKE A BABY!!' and the Doctor goes 'it IS a baby!'.. it was funny. that thing was going CRAZZZY! bouncing all over the place! it waved, too! i mean, im sure it didnt wave and know it was waving, but i like to think it was waving to us! haha. hope you're doing well!

i didnt really start showing until late november but could still hide it until last month now ha i couldnt hide my bump if i wanted to but the weight tracker i just copied off of someone elses your more than welcome to copy it off of mine

ok so I was in the similar situation. My boyfriend and I waited til I was about 20 weeks before we told them. They were upset at first, but then probably because of the Christmas brake I had a chance to really bond with them. they are actually very happy now. They will call once a while to check up on me, and they talk to my boyfriend once a week about how to take care of me. We waitied, because we want to make sure we won't lose the baby nor decided not to keep it. But then I agree that if they are not happy who cares. You have to be sure this is what you really wanted though. It is a big commitment.

Hi. My advice is that they are gonna feel the same no matter what. They will be happy or not but if u wait longer then they will be more PO'ed that u waited to tell them. If they don't approve-who cares? Not like they can change it and it is YOUR relationship, life, and baby. not theirs. I'd tell them in the next few weeks since your at the point where 'most' chances of miscarriage are in the clear.

we had the same problem but with mine almost to a tee i lost him in september of 03 and got pregnant again in january of 04 but we just sucked it up and kept the mentality that this was OUR lives not their and trust me they will get over it

Congratulations! I would probably wait until you are comfortable.... or at least until well into the 2nd trimester. Really they will have to get used to the idea regardless. Best of luck!

Congrats on the pregnancy! my opinion would be to wait until you feel comfortable to tell them, I waited until 14 weeks to tell anyone and I think that is pretty normal... there is no rush and believe me, once the baby comes i'm sure they will be very happy

Hello, Congrats on the baby! I have the same situation, my mom is exteremly religious and she was upset when i told her because we are not married, so since she is so negetive, i think that she doesnt deserve to be a huge part of it, it just makes me feel like my own baby isnt loved, or is a burden. does that make sense. If i were you guys i wouldnt tell them until week 20 because then they will be able to see that you guys have everything under control and you know what you are getting yourself into. then they might see that you have your 'sh#t' together. haha, dont know if that is what you were looking for. My opinion would be to wait until you feel comfortable telling them. Considering how they reacted last time, they should understand you not wanting to tell them until you're sure you can't lose the baby before putting yourself through whatever negative reactions they choose to dish out.
