Well,

My name is Amanda and I'm currently in college. My mom is originally from Guatemala and we all took a vacation down there over Thanksgiving. I noticed I was late while I was there and figured it was just my body being dumb. On the plane ride back I was so nauseas I threw up which is unlike me, but I still didn't really think I was pregnant. That weekend I still hadn't started so my best friend bought me two tests. When they came out positive we were shocked. My fiance (husband now) took it rough but once we got over the initial shock and told our families, we became so incredibly excited!! We already love our little man so much and we can't wait for his arrival. My due date is July 18th and I can't wait!

February 27th, 2008: (19 weeks)

So I figured I would start keeping a journal on here. It seems like a fun thing to do. Well, I'm 19 going on 20 weeks pregnant and my clothes are getting tighter and tighter by the minute! There are jackets and shirts that fit me literally a week ago that now will not zip or are tight! It's like I had a growth spurt or something. I have to keep telling myself this is a good thing and that it's the baby and not just me getting fatter. I never realized it would be so hard to seperate gaining weight fears from pregnancy excitment. The baby is kicking all the time which is so wonderful! I love being able to know that it's moving around in there. I've been chewing on ice almost non-stop for about 2 weeks now, I love it. I doubt it's anemia though, it's something I've done since I was a child and energy wise I feel great. Chris finally felt the baby kick and he was the HAPPIEST I have ever seen him. His face lit up so bright. The baby kicked maybe 6-7 times when he felt it and he felt it about 3 times. My cravings are starting to increase and whenever I'm at work I crave the CRAZIEST things. I have my next monthly appointment on March 21st and since our baby was not on our side during the ultrasound, we're going to have to wait on finding out the sex and schedule another one at our check up. That's about it. I'm back to my original weight finally! No more weight loss. I just hope I gain with grace and not overnight!

March 11th, 2008: (21 weeks)

I wrote about 2 weeks ago and since then nothing really has changed. I put on 5 lbs. which makes my total weight gain...5 lbs! For the past two days I haven't felt the baby kick much, maybe once or twice every few hours. I know it shouldn't worry me that much but I just feel very funny and strange. I don't know if I'm imagining it at all but I don't "feel" pregnant all of a sudden. Chris tells me it's because I'm so used to it now and I'm hoping he's right. I even feel like all of a sudden my belly got smaller! (maybe because I didn't stuff my face at lunch today?!) I don't know. I want to go to the doctors just to be sure and even though I'm sure I'm being paranoid it would be much more comforting to know everything is alright.

March 13, 2008:

So last night I ended up having to go to the dreaded hospital here in Portales because of pains and cramping that I was having. I wasn't happy about going here because of how INSANE and incompetent they are here, but we went for the baby to make sure s/he was ok. Long story short, (in order to not frustrate myself more) I was not contracting which they thought I might be, the baby's heart beat was in the high 140's and it was healthy. That's a relief. And now s/hes kicking a lot more which is wonderful! I'm still having cramps though so I will have to call my midwife.

April 11th, 2008:

I've been busy which I guess is a good think. We had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and... We're so excited! It was one of the most amazing experieces in the world getting to see him show his privates like he was proud! Haha. And man was Chris proud too! His was the happiest I've ever seen him. We're naming him Ethan, and it's amazing how much of a personality he already has. I can see his kicks through my stomach now and If I have my hand somewhere where he's kicking I can actually feel body parts/bones. It's crazy but amazing. I really think I'm going to miss him inside of me, but at the same time I can't wait to have him in my arms! We were approved for our apartment, so now it's just 3 more LONG weeks until we can move in. I feel like this semester is never going to be over. I left my boppy pillow at home so I've been sleeping all week in saddness. Thankfully, Cathy (my future mother in law) mailed it, so it should be here monday at the latest :D I'm spoiled. Everything else is going wonderfully. I feel like I'm in heaven with my little boy being so active and dancing all the time. I love him so much already, it's amazing. :) I have my 27 week visit next friday and I'll probably have my glucose test done then. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything comes out fine.

June 14th, 2008: (35 weeks)

Almost there!!! I haven't written in a while but there's not much new. We're married now and in our apartment and I have FINALLY begun nesting. Our little man's room is 98% done (minus a few wall hangings) but if he were to come now we would be prepared! I'm sore everywhere, especially the ribs tonight, but nothing too bad. My back has been hurting pretty bad also but swimming today really did the trick. I MIGHT *cross fingers* be getting another ultrasound done here in a week or two. Besides that nothing much has changed. Chris is having some trouble finding a job and we're debating whether or not he should continue hunting for one before the baby comes or try to line one up to start the week after the baby is born since he would have to take a week off anyways. Who knows! We're just trying to stay positive and play things day by day.

Us on the day of our wedding!!

Daddy, Mommy and baby at 19 weeks ♥ 2/25/08

The baby's first picture at 18 weeks!

Our beautiful baby boy at 23 weeks!

We're so proud, and so is he!!! Haha. 23 weeks.

I have not had any leaking either. I grew a bit bigger in the first trimester but nothing since then. They don't even feel sensitive anymore. I was a little concerned but have heard many moms say that they didn't start leaking until after birth. So don't worry. I haven't had any BH either. At least as far as I know. We worry when we get things and when we don't! So much worrying in pregnancy

buddysmom - Wednesday, 11 June
Men just don't understand the mental and physical toll of pregnancy. There is a reason us women do it! I am glad your shower went well. Mine sounded similar. We got a few things off the registry and lots of clothes and cutesy stuff. I look at it as every little bit helps. I had fun shopping for stuff after the shower and finishing up what I needed. I hadn't done really any shopping before that. We have about everything we need at this point. It feels so good to be done too. I was so worried constantly about being able to afford and get all that we needed. Thank goodness we did. I am getting more tired lately too. I was so exhausted after my shower! I went home and napped! I am glad my nursery is mostly done. I have my hospital bag packed too. I just have a list of stuff to throw in last minute. The stuff that we use everyday. Its a relief to be prepared. I had to go to the hospital last week even though I was pretty sure I wasn't in labor. I was having abdominal and back cramping. It turned out to be nothing, maybe intestines or him engaging. No contractions and not dilated. It was a zen moment when we were going. When you think it is time you become at peace eith it. It was the one time I wasn't worried as much. I worry again now with Chip getting most of the home projects done. He is slowly getting there but it is like pulling teeth. I have been lucky to not get too much swelling. I can go up a good 5lbs in a night though from it. I try to drink a lot of water. I had an appt on Tues but they didn't tell me what I was measuring. I did the strep b test, no biggie. I thought they penetrated and they do not. Everything else is going well. I have to start going weekly so I will ask next time what I am measuring. I am curious. My belly still seems on the smaller side but is growing more and more. I am glad its not any bigger, it kills my back now. I have been getting some pelvic and vaginal pain from him moving down. Oh the joys of pregnancy!! I am ready for this to be done but am still trying to enjoy these last few weeks alone with Chip. I hope he comes at 38 weeks. I wish he would get the memo. I am not going to try to induce myself or anything. A lot of women are getting desperate. I am terribly uncomfortable but hanging in there. did you get your shopping done? Is the swelling any better? Prob not because of this crazy heat! How you been?

buddysmom - Thursday, 5 June
Don't you hate how much men procrastinate? I am on Chip right now. We are running out of time to get stuff done. Luckily you only have one more box! I am sure that was a lot of work. I cannot imagine moving as far along as you were. EXHAUSTING. That damn box would drive me nuts too. I am a little OCD! I am getting more tired too. Luckily I am done with my house projects, it is all on Chip now. I have gotten clothes washed and put away and even have most of my hospital bag put aside. It is a relief to do it. Try and do it soon because we are only going to get more tired! It is in the 90's here today and this weekend. i haven't been to the pool yet but it seems like a good time. It is miserably hot out, I can't imagine if it was always this hot. We jump around in the high 70's to the 90's right now. My boy is moving like crazy too. Sometimes it is painful but I still love it too!! I thought it would be worse by now but its still a joy. I love to watch my belly move around. I think we all worry about EVERYTHING as mothers. I have stressed out a little more recently about money and stuff. It helps that Chip got a better job but I can't help but worry. Hormones. It is still more exciting than anything but I definitely understand how you feel. I have been feeling well besides back. I need to stay in bed a little more to rest my back. I pushed it a little bit the past 2 weeks or so to get myself prepared for baby. I did it so that I can rest these last few weeks. So far we are both healthy, I hope you all are too! Keep me posted on how you are and whats going on. Oh I posted a few nursery pics from today. The last 8 pics on my page. Almost done. It gives you a great idea of how it will look.

My baby shower was great thank you. I got quite a bit from my registry. A lot got other things but it was a mixture of clothes and stuff. I was just worried about all clothes. I kept everything though. I will post pictures of it pretty soon. My MIL did most of the work for the party and it was beautiful with great food and fun games. A lot of people couldn't make it but I would have felt overwhelmed if more people were there. Overall I was very happy about it. I am so relieved about Chip's new job. Whats great to is that he gets a week off in between jobs and I am cracking the whip!! He has a list of home projects to get done! He wants to be done with it when the baby is here though so I think it will motivate him. You know men though, they procrastinate. I tols him he can't put this stuff off anymore, we are already almost out of time! My nursery is getting closer to being done. Chip has some painting to do. Most of my work though is completed. I will post more pictures soon. It is my favorite room in my condo. How have you been? What have you been up to lately? You feeling good or not so much?

buddysmom - Saturday, 31 May
THANKS!! OMG, you have noo idea!! It feels so good. I have been really stressed about money recently. We struggle when it is just the 2 of us, let alone one more! He just heard about it this afternoon. What a high I am on. I have my baby shower tomorrow. For right now, life is so good and I am so happy.

buddysmom - Monday, 26 May
It was great to hear from you and see the pics of your nursery. It is the middle of the night here so I will write you at a more decent hour when I am a little more awake. Cute wedding pic too! :)

buddysmom - Monday, 26 May
I really like the border. Looking good mama

buddysmom - Monday, 26 May
SOO cute!! Love the paint too!

buddysmom - Monday, 26 May
Hey, I wanted to see how you are doing? I posted a few pics of my nursery. I am working on it little by little. My bro gave me my bedding set today so I washed it and put it right on. I bought a changing table today and ordered the armoire to match my furniture. I have been washing all of his clothes so I can start organizing it all. Can you tell I am a control freak? I want to be all prepared. Just in case! He seems so much bigger recently. He kicks more often, harder, higher. I got a bathing suit today. Cuter than I thought it would be. Got it at target. Hope all is well with you!

buddysmom - Friday, 23 May
Congratulations on getting married!! That is so exciting! I think a lot of women are getting more stressed out recently and my biggest stress is money. It is so hard because I cannot help with it either. I am trying to stay calm for my baby. Chip left this morning for a boys weekend. I was a little jealous, I would have enjoyed a special weekend too. I am glad he can go before the baby is here though. I think the pool will be great for that reason.. pressure relief. I have beem measuring on point at my appts. I am hoping that means I will have a very average sized baby!!! I had my shower yesterday at Chips work. My first shower. I was a little nervous because I walked into a room full of people. I didn't think it would be so big! 25-30 people. It'll be close in size to my other shower! It went really well. They decorated, had all kinds of sweets too. I got a few gifts, mostly clothes and a diaper genie. Most eveyone though chipped in together and gave us cash!! YEAH BABY! It was like $200! We were so happy, had a great day. Hope your appt goes well. Keep me posted!

buddysmom - Tuesday, 20 May
I hope your hubby can find a job! Thats stressful. I can't wait to be done with the nursery. I am going to organize it a little this weekend. I am not going to kill myself to get it done since I still have my big shower to go in 2 weeks. I was going to wash his clothes this weekend too! I have pretty sensitive skin as well so we bought a sensitive detergent. Chip will be out of town with the boys so I have the condo to myself all weekend. I want to get stuff organized in the nursery and maybe go to the pool. I feel like once my showers are done I am going to feel so ready for him to be here! Do you feel that way? Once the room is done and all is put away it makes me feel so much more prepared. I am glad you have internet again!! So sorry about the rib pain! I have had a lot of back pain and some in the belly but am still getting by. Overall I have had a pretty good pregnancy. I had an appt today and all is well. I am measuring to date and he is head down. Doesn't it seem like the due date is so close and yet so far away?

buddysmom - Sunday, 18 May
I sure hope I only go like 38 weeks. That would be fine by me!! We still need to paint clouds in our nursery but that shouldnt take too long. Today Chip put together the crib and my glider, YAY!! SO exciting. I put together a swing and papasan. I LOVE nesting. I have found it one of the more enjoyable parts of pregnancy. Even though I am uncomfortable recently and my back kills I have enjoyed this part of pregnancy. Nesting, showers.. Its exciting. The nursery is cleared out except a BIG pile of baby stuff. Chip is out of town next weekend so I am going to work on organizing some. Its pointless to worry too much until after the shower when I get all my gifts. Only 2 weeks till my big shower. I can't wait. My mother in law is helping throw it and she has put some much time and thought into it. Our carpet was finally done this past week and it looks AWESOME. I am not feeling as stressed about the house being ready in time. We dont have that much more to do. Life is good. I cant imagine living without the internet!! That sucks! I cant wait to see pics of your nursery too. I dont get as much rib pain because I am so tall. I am 5'10 and my baby lives in my pelvis. If I slump he will get caught up on my ribs. My boy moves a whole lot too! I love it. Hope you are doing well otherwise. Glad to hear from you! Keep me posted when you have time

Happy Mothers DAY!

Unfortunately I don't get carpet for another 6 days. Next Thur. But we are beginning to prep the house for it. Basically we have to move all of our stuff from our 3 bedroom condo into 2 rooms. Its going to be such a pain but it'll be worth it in the end. I imagine you are so busy with moving. I can't wait to start decorating. I have the crib and glider in boxes that I can set up next weekend. Are you excited to set up your nursery?? I am lucky I am tall so I don't have much pain in my ribs unless I sit really slumped over. Only in back and belly. I have had some swelling but I drink a lot of water. It helps a little. I feel the weight taking its toll too. I am still enjoying it too. Some people ask me if I am ready for him to come out but I am still doing pretty good, I want him to be in at least another month, then I will probably get more antsy. My boy moves like crazy too. It is so much better than watching tv!! Chip has finally been able to feel a lot more movements too. I have a visit in 2 weeks and then I think I start going every 2 weeks. I have done my birthing class and hospital tour. I am glad I did both. It makes you feel so much more ready. The hospital tour really made me feel like I wanted my boy here. We got to see a few babies while we were touring.. SOO CUTE! I don't mind what my parents or family say either but everyone chimes in on how big they think you should be. People are clueless. I am just glad me and baby have been doing well the whole pregnancy. I have had back pain but I have had that for a few years now. Other than that I feel I am doing great. I understand that you are busy but it is nice to hear from you and how you and baby are doing. Hope all is well at your appointment!

buddysmom - Thursday, 8 May
You will be moving really soon right? I hope all goes well. That is very exciting though. How you doing otherwise?

mommyagain9th - Thursday, 8 May
Hi! Don't worry one bit about the "boobs". It's only another pregnancy "symptom" - some have morning sickness / some don't. We don't all get enlarged --- although I sure wish I did. I'm only an "A" cup and during pregnancies that doesn't change one bit for me. I've succesfully nursed all of my 8 children. It is extremely "rare" for someone to not be able to breastfeed - Size means nothing - the more you nurse, the more milk you will produce. Enjoy!!

cdoyle23 - Thursday, 8 May
Don't feel bad....my tata's haven't changed one bit either. No size difference. Me and hubby are sorta disappointed in that fact. lol I was looking forward to having some boobs! Darn. Maybe they'll explode when our full milk supply comes in once the baby is born.
