VOTE on my Name List

On December 14th, 2007 we found out we were pregnant. Although this was unexpected, we couldn't be any more thrilled. When I first told Jeff (dad to-be) he picked me up and danced in circles.

On January 4th I expirienced light bleeding without accompanied cramps. Immedtiately we went to the hospital freaked out. We got scheduled blood tests and an ultrasound (in my photo page) and discovered everything was all right. I never realized how badly I wanted this baby until this happened.

Now, I'm 17 weeks pregnant and we're looking forward to seeing the next ultrasound in 10 days. Even though we're not finding out the sex, we're just so excited to watch our baby grow.

On March 17th we went in for a routine ultrasound and decided that if the heartbeat was between 130 and 150 bpm we would find out the sex (since Jeff wanted to know so badly and I was unsure). I was so sure that the heartbeat would still be well over 160bpm since 10 weeks ago it was 186bpm. But surprise surprise the heartbeat was 150. They wouldn't allow us to find out the sex at the hospital because of an incident that another woman pulled before (she didn't like what she was told and tried to abort her baby). So we had to wait for the doctor to call. When he told us that we were expecting a baby boy, I was even more in shock. I really thought we were having a girl (despite all my dreams of having a boy). Everybody predicted girl. Although it wasn't what I had expected, I am so happy. And I've never seen Jeff happier either (he wanted a boy all along).

Today (March 13th) my doctor found traces of protien in my urine and discovered that I have high blood pressure and swollen feet and fingers. He says I may have toxemia and we'll find out with the next visit (in a month!). Now I feel overwhelmed with the possibility of having a deadly disease. Although it's rare for mortality, it still puts me and the baby at risk. If I'm diagnosed with it, I'll be put on full bedrest. I am so scared.

It's now June 4th and I've got less than 10 weeks to go! I am now seeing a midwife and I'm not having any traces of protein in my urine and my blood pressure is fine. Everything is looking well and healthy and I couldn't be happier that my baby boy is big and healthy. I am getting an ultrasound done soon just to make sure everythings going good so I am excited to see my baby boy.

Lastnight (Monday, June 23rd) I spent the night in the hospital. All weekend (since friday) long I had been feeling crampiness in my lower abdomen and back pain. On Sunday night I noticed a small amount of red blood on my toilet paper. I called my midwife and we had arranged to meet at the hospital. When I got there I found out I was 0.5-1 cm dilated and 30% effaced. She did a swab test to see if I had the likeliness of having a preterm baby and the next day we found out it came out negative. On Monday I had a lot more cramping, groin pain/pressure felt in the cervix so we went to the hospital again with my midwife and I was a full centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. We then decided with approval from a doctor that I was to stay overnight to be watched closely. I was becoming frustrated because I was told to time my contractions and felt really stupid when I was unsure when I was having a contraction. Tuesday (today) morning I was let home because my cervix hadn't dilated more. Now I'm on bedrest and I'm only allowed to eat and go to the bathroom. I feel so incompetent and worried and I just hope that my baby will be alright.

Yesterday, (July 4th) I got an ultrasound done to check my cervical length and the baby's postition and everything looked okay. Nothing is progressing and baby is still head down. We found out that he now weighs 6lbs 6 oz! I was relieved to hear that he is growing very well. He is already a pound bigger than I was when I was born!

You need to take it easy ... My sister had her baby when she was 32 weeks pregnant ... needless to say he was in the hopsital for about 3 weeks but then came home. He is now 4 1/2 years old and everything thing that goes along with it. If you do have your baby early he sould be fine ... but take it easy.

I am italian and my husband is portuguese. We wanted to do a europeon name. We are leaning towards Giavanna because it's different. I like to go with names that no one else has. It was Gabrielle but there are alot of them out there. What do you think? There are more on my baby names page. Check it out and vote on a name you like. I am also open to suggestions. I can use all the help I can get.

Yes please let me know what your doctor says. By the way, one good thing is that they are not putting you in the hosptial now to monitor you. Your protein levels can't be that bad yet. Did they tell you what it was? Also what is your blood pressure? I told my daughter about you and she wanted to know if you were in USA. We are in Massachusetts and she was going to recommend a hospital but I told that on this website it's nationwide so it's hard to tell. She wants me to keep her updated on your condition so please let me know any updates. What are you naming your baby? Her boy is named Kaden.

Glad to hear that you're doing well. It's amazing feeling and seeing him move isn't it!! In the latter park of last week Brad seen him move and the expression on his face was priceless...he looked like he just hit the jackpot, he had a big smile on his face. And I like the name Damian...it's not too common and it is a really cute name that's catchy, and people tend to remember it.
