Alyssa Grace, 5 months old:

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

July 14, 2008

Time for an update! Alyssa Grace is now over 4 months old! Wow, time flies. She is just a wonderful baby, full of smiles and little belly laughs and awesome personality. We love her so much - it is such a joy to have her in our lives. She is still a tiny little peanut baby. She only weighs about 12 pounds, and she is still wearing some newborn and mostly 0-3 months size baby clothes! But she has a good appetite and is developing just fine. We recently bought her a Rainforest Jumperoo to play in, and she loves it! She is so tiny, her feet don't even come close to touching the ground. We put some phone books underneath her, and she loves to bounce around and play. It's so cute. She makes the cutest little baby noises, and she squeals and laughs when we play with her. If Alyssa is awake, she is happy and smiling. It melts my heart to see her smiley little face every morning. She started sleeping through the night a few weeks ago...what a blessing. She loves bath time, and I try to give her a bath at least every other day. We are also trying to start her on baby cereal, but she is not interested at all! She spits out every bit of that cereal and makes the poo poo face. However, she has started putting everything else into her mouth! When she grabs a toy...it goes straight to her mouth. Little punkin.

May 11, 2008

Alyssa is 10 weeks old today, and it's Mother's Day! Things are going well. She is a sweet little baby. She has started to smile and "talk" to us all the time. We love her to pieces. I have been back at work for a week now, and it's not too bad. I found a great baby sitter for Alyssa, and it's nice being back around adults during the day. I do miss her a lot, and I think I appreciate our time together a lot more now. We had some beautiful family photos taken when she was 4 weeks old. If you live in the Cincinnati area check out photographybyjolene.com. This lady is amazing with little ones!Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Week 40

My little girl was born Sunday March 2nd at 2:24pm!! We ended up naming her Alyssa Grace, and she weighs 7 pounds 1 ouce and is 19 inches long. She is a sweet, adorable little baby and we love her more than we could ever imagine :) Her birth story is under the "children" tab on my page! Week 39

Well I finally had a day off and was able to finish our little girl's nursery (pics below)! Almost everything is ready for her arrival, we are just waiting for her to decide when to make her entrance! I went to the doctor yesterday, and I am 50% effaced and about 1cm dilated. The baby's head is only at a -2 station, so she hasn't fully dropped yet. My doctor would not give me a guess on how much longer I may have. She said with a first baby, it could be days or even a few more weeks. I really don't mind being pregnant for a few more weeks, but I am getting anxious to see my baby. My only fear about going over my due date is that she will keep gaining weight and I will have trouble pushing her out. I do not want to have a c-section!! But I keep telling myself she will come when she is ready. I can't believe this part of the journey is almost over, I can't wait!

Week 36

We had our last baby shower this past weekend (we ended up having 5 showers total). Again, we got tons of stuff! With all of the showers combined, we were given the crib, changing table, stroller and carseat, bouncer seat, rocking chair (glider with ottoman), crib bedding, swing, 2 pack-n-plays: one for traveling and a beautiful Laura Ashley play yard that we are using for the bassinet, crates of diapers from NB size to stage 2, crates of baby wipes, bath tub, bath products towels and wash cloths, baby monitor, breast pump and supplies, euro rider baby carrier, a beautiful Vera Bradley diaper bag, boppy pillows, toys, bottles, pacifiers, cups bowls and spoons, blankets, burp cloths, and TONS of clothes!!! We won't have to buy clothes for this little girl until she is 12 months old. The only thing we had to buy was extra crib sheets and a toy box. We still can't believe how far our friends and family went to help us with this baby! It's absolutely amazing. I finished packing the baby's hospital bag this weekend. I still need to pack my bag and finish up some odds and ends around the nursery. I also need to clean out my car and take our car seat to the fire department for a safety check. Other than that, we are just waiting for our little girl to make her appearance! I am hoping she will arrive as close to her due date as possible. I would like to keep working for the next 3 weeks, and I feel like I still have a few weeks worth of planning and cleaning to do around the house! I know these last few weeks are going to fly by, and I really can't wait to meet my daughter.

Week 34

The girls I work with threw me a surprise baby shower at work on Friday! I was so surprised, I cried a little lol. I can't believe all of the nice things they got for us!!! They gave us our travel system (stroller and car seat), baby monitor, a huge pack of wipes and diapers from Sams Club, and tons of clothes, blankets, toys, and bath stuff. We are so grateful! I just can't believe all of the things people have given us. It's amazing, and we really need it since it's our first baby. Our friends are throwing us a baby shower tomorrow, then we only have 2 more to go! :)

My brother came over tonight and helped my boyfriend put our crib together. It looks great, and the nursery should be almost complete by next weekend. We also took a tour of our hospital's maternity floor this morning, and it was nice. It feels like everything is really starting to come together, and we can't wait to meet our daughter. It's sooooo exciting!!

And I think we have finally decided on a name: !!!!!!!! Alyssa Nicole !!!!!!!!

Week 33

My boyfriend's mom threw us a baby shower tonight. It was a lot of fun, and we got TONS of stuff! Mostly clothes and blankets, we also got a bath tub, a diaper genie, toys, and lots of other necessities. It was great, everyone was really generous, the food was good, and we all had a good time. Only four more baby showers to go! lol. I am doing well at this point in the pregnancy. It is getting harder to get around carrying all of this extra weight, but it's not horrible. The baby is still really active. The doctor said that she is head down and little chance she will flip again. I am measuring normal to small, but I did get yelled at for my weight gain this week. I have gained over 40 pounds total, and in the last 3 weeks I've gained 7. My doctor told me that I'm only allowed to gain one pound a week for the rest of the pregnancy! That's not going to be easy, but I am going to start walking more to even out the weight gain. I'm also thinking about trying some natural labor induction methods in the next 3 or 4 weeks. I don't want to have her too early, but it would be nice to have this pregnancy thing done with a few weeks early or at least on time.

Week 31

We had our 3D ultrasound last weekend, and it was amazing. Things are really hectic around the house right now, and I'm starting to wonder if we will have everything set up and ready for the baby's arrival! I'm not having my baby showers until the end of January, which will only give us about 4 weeks to get everything ready to go. I hope she doesn't decide to come early! The third trimester is turning out to be very stressful on my body. I have gotten a LOT bigger in the past 4 weeks, and it's hard to walk up the stairs, sleep, breathe...everything is difficult. But when I feel her moving around and kicking it reminds me that it's all worth it.

Week 22

My mom and I went to Target tonight and did the baby registry for our little girl. It was sooooo much fun, but I was exhausted from working all day and put my mom in charge of the scanner. Well I just got online to review the list of items, and we scanned a ridiculous amount of stuff! Half of the stuff I don't even remember seeing so I know my mom went crazy, lol. I have almost 80 items on the registry right now. One of my friends is due in November and only has 25 items on hers! Oh well, we were just really excited and will probably end up buying half the stuff ourselves anyway :) It is so much fun planning for our little angel, I can't help it!!

Week 21

We had another ultrasound today to check the baby's organs and other vitals. Everything looked perfect, thank God! Her heart rate was 140 and she now weighs one whole pound. It was great seeing her move around. I am feeling her move every day, and her kicks are getting much stronger. I am feeling great, but eating a lot and gaining tons of weight. I've gained 22 pounds so far, and my doctor recommended trying to eat healthier and walking. I'm going to try really hard this month to do both, and we will see what happens!

Week 17

We had our ultrasound early and it's a GIRL!!!! The baby's heart rate has slowed down a bit to 144. I'm feeling great, the 2nd trimester definitely rocks. I have been doing a lot of shopping for baby clothes and have been spending time designing the nursery. My boyfriend and I are still discussing names, and hopefully we will agree on one soon! Right now we like Marissa, Hannah, Katelyn, and Jessica. I think this is the bedding we are getting for the nursery:

Week 13

Yesterday, I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time!!! I have to say, it was the most amazing experience. The heart rate was 160 bpm, and the doctor was actually laughing because the baby was being incredibly active. She said, "Wow, this is a crazy little baby!!!" It was so great hearing that lil heartbeat, and I am getting so excited about this entire experience. Week 13 has been great!! Most of my nausea is gone, and I'm feeling better every day. I can't wait to find out if I'm having a boy or a girl. October 13 seems sooo far away!!!!

This is a general message to everyone who left a comment on my VIP page: I thought I would let you know that I have just posted a very detailed birth story on my VIP page. You can read it under 'olga83's children' in the top menu on my page. Good luck :) P.S. Thank you for your comment and congratulations :) I am sorry I cannot reply to everyone because with the new baby in the house I really have no time to log in long enough to reply to everyone :) Please let me know when you give birth by sending me private message. I would love to hear your story and see the pictures!!!

Hey thanks for your note. Sorry to be so whiney. It's just been a bad day! I can't wait for tomorrow - I'm looking fwd to my next dr. appointment which is tomorrow morning.

As for the safety check, I just looked up 'car seat clinics' with our local safety council. It ended up being at a local EMS station. It was actually EMS employees that do that check-over with you. Not sure what it's like in the U.S. (I'm in Canada). I'm sure if you call your local EMS location (or if you have a state-wide safety council) they may have some info. for you? Sorry, probably not a lot of help!

Thank you for the picture comment. I had a lot of fun having them done and they are something I will cherish forever! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. Not much longer!

I am using the nipple cream now. I started like 1.5 weeks ago. You don't need that much time, but I really want to be comfortable while breastfeeding. I started using it because I was having a little dry nipples and they recommend that you start a little time before the baby is born. =)

I know I'm a bit partial because I'm studying to be a lacation consultant, but check out La Leche League's books, ask a Lactation consultant or go to a local meeting. They are wonderful and are here to help! I read their book the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding before my breastfeeding class and it really helped. Good luck!

Nikki2212 - Tuesday, 19 Feb
oh! Still waiting for somebody to post something about the birth ball... I am using the one I had to work out... I think is the same thing. I google it and it says you have to bounce on it or move your hips side to side... mhhh! Hope this works.
Breastfeeding.... I recommend that you ask for a nursing consultant in the hospital. There is not a lot of science on it. Just get help in latching your baby the 1st times and you will be fine. There are mothers that won't have enough milk the 1st week. They might recommend you to rent the hospital pump for a month just to get enough supply for you baby =) (if you need it).
Good luck! No idea about books, but they will certainly give you info in the hospital.
Oh! Very important, believe me you don't want sore or cracked nipples! I got them the 1st time!! Painful! But I used the Lasinoh lanolin for breastfeeding and it was wonderful.... Look for a cream you can leave on! They really help!
Are you ready??? I am dying to meet this little guy =)

eliaalanis - Tuesday, 19 Feb
I know it's odd, I ask her the same thing, The day she told us that she was preg, this is 3 weeks before having her boy, she said that she felt something moving and I said well you might be about 4 months since you are not showing, she is on the heavy side size 22 or more, so she hide the baby on her own weight now her boy is realy quiet and not that active well compared to my boy he is an angel. she had no need to hide this preg since they wanted a baby after yrs of beeing married but she had no regular mestrual periods so it the absence of them didn't got her attention, I still question her how did you not felt sick or tired or in pain like I do with my pregnancies. she just smiles.

ladyboyd - Monday, 18 Feb
My doc said she won't let me go more than a week past, so if the baby is not here by my due date we'll discuss induction at that appt...I've been feeling REALLY tired and a little nauseous with a lot of pressure in my pelvis the last 2 days, so hopefully sometime this week...

Nikki2212 - Monday, 18 Feb
I know some women scream during labor. But I don't think you are going to be hearing them!! When I had my babies I never heard any screaming at all. I didn't scream myself!
I think that if you think in a positive way you will enjoy your delivery very much. Believe me is not scary! It is actually pretty enjoyable. I had epidural and I was induced! But I enjoy every single minute. Don't worry about it! You will see that day you will think totally different! =)

Thanks for the advice I have a doctor appointment Wednesday I don't know if I should wait until then or not I may try to call.

ladyboyd - Monday, 18 Feb
Well, I went from 30% effaced and -1/-2 station to 60%, 1 cm, and 0 station in a week... but nothing really since then. Sporadic contractions, and I think I lost a little piece of my plug this weekend, but nothing since... Im so impatient! :-)

Thank you for the nursery comment. We were supposed to buy the furniture set from Costco.com. It's called the Venice Crib Collection. They were all out (they may have some stock in right now because I checked the website after I ordered it elsewhere). After searching for it all over, we finally found it on CSNbaby.com~ they call it the 'Tuscany Crib Collecton on their website. I tried to put more pics up of the nursery but the site is giving me problems uploading more pics. BTW, love your little girls name. I wanted to name my daugher Alyssa too, but we decided on Olivia Madelyn. Good Luck! Your due date is coming soon=)

Hi there

Just wanted to stop by and say hi, wondering how you are. Work is still crazy, but my last day is the 22nd, cant wait for the break. Went to my appotiment today, and the doctor is going to induce me on the 24th at 6:00 a.m, because i have been in soo much pain, but wow, I am soo nervous, happy, releived, just soo many emotions at one time... I hope things are going good for you, write back, let me know how things are going with you!!

BabyMaker35 - Tuesday, 12 Feb
3 more days till my girl is here!!

BabyMaker35 - Wednesday, 6 Feb
won't know a for sure date until Thursday when I go back to my Dr. He said Feb 12,13 or 14th last week. I am kinda nervous about if she is REALLY ready to come and if induction is such a great idea. I do trust my Dr though.... just kinda have some worried thoughts.

BabyMaker35 - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Oh I am so happy for you! This is just such an exciting time for all the mommy's to be that are getting near delivery. You really sound like you got so blessed with everything - I am sure your delivery will be much of the same. Best of luck to you and yours. The name is adorable. I can't wait to see pics and talk birth stories soon!! :)

XO Haley

ladyboyd - Tuesday, 5 Feb
I've been doing some squats and trying to walk a lot... I'll start some raspberry leaf tea this week....that's about it though. hehe.

ladyboyd - Monday, 4 Feb
Wow that stinks about Target! We actually didn't even know we were GETTING a shower until a week or so ago so we've basically gotten all our needs ourselves. That means what we get we dont have to worry about as much....We're getting so excited and impatient to see her! At my appt last week I wasn't dilated yet, and only 20% effaced, so she's seeming like she wants to hang out for a while... I need to change her mind. hehe.

Suzyprego - Friday, 1 Feb
yeah having that nasty smell is the pits! I feel so not sexy at all cant wait to have this baby already get back to my normal self and back to smelling good! LOL!

BethM - Wednesday, 30 Jan
That sucks so bad about Target, I am actually thinking about taking my stuff off of there now. They should understand that these were gifts from the registry and you need to return them! That is a stupid rule!! Good Luck with everything else and thanks for the heads up!!

cameoko - Tuesday, 29 Jan
thanks for the advice. it definitely helps hearing that others are also working full time. i am going to try and stick to it. my job is pretty flexible- so I know if I need some time here or there, they will let me have it. But it's so nice thinking that I could be home doing other things for myslef and the baby, the house, you know? But then there's the financial part! lol. Sheesh. I am all over the place.

Nikki2212 - Monday, 28 Jan
when you are in the hospital they will provide you with a booklet with all the information.
You should never warm up breast milk in the microwave... that's for sure. You should put it in warm water for a while.
All the rest of the info you can get it from the nursing consultant. This person will give you tips and info on how to bf. And he will help you with the baby latching right the 1st time =)
Good luck!!! I loved nursing and I will do it again. I forgot all about breast milk storage but I will ask for it again.
If you are buying a pump the 'pump in style' from Medela was the best! Some of the others I tried hurt me and didn't help me in getting much milk.... Also check for internet review before purchasing! They are kind of expensive... =) Hope this helps.

momee2bee - Monday, 28 Jan
Hi! I found the butterflies on ebay. They were very inexpensive and don't look it either! Congrats on your baby girl!
