May 18th, 2008:

I remember the time when I hated my body
When every pound was like a violent scar
When every ounce made me cringe
And, shameful, look away

I remember the time I could not stand mirrors
Would not remove my shirt for even the most intimate of moments
Would cover my hips and stomach with my arms
Even as he lay kisses upon them, worshipping their form

I remember that time before motherhood
When I doubted myself and everything that was of me
When my body was to be loathed and sneered at
And when I did not have the sense to stand up for it and all it was

I remember that time of shame
As I stand humbled by my womb
Swollen far beyond the measurements
Of what 'real women' are or should be

I remember that time and laugh
Joyful that motherhood has taught me
At last to be contented
At last to be complete
At last to be at peace with every curve
Every ounce that sought to beautify rather than destroy me

And in my joy, I seek to teach
To hold my daughter to a higher standard than I
That she may know her body
Every scar
Every inch
Every pound
Every curve
Every ounce
Every flaw
And enjoy it as much as I should have

I remember.

Look at that precious little fist. I'm in love with those hands.

Pouty face. She was getting real fussy by the end.

I really, really love this one.

Thumb in her mouth.

Sucking on her lower lip just like I do. Well, daddy does it too.

She has a cute little smile.

So sleepy in there!

Okay, who's she looking like now? Still daddy? Me? Or both?

your birthstory is so beautiful...you and your bf sound absolutely wonderful together. you're gonna be great parents! hope all is well with you and your new little family

I saw your post on your little one's tummy problm. Get the Gripe Water. Thebrand the post is referring to below is Baby Bliss. They have it at Walgreens. It is just ginger and fennel. Works really good, and fast!
Also a good rule of thumb from my Dr is if you give prune juice or water is 1 oz for every 1 month. So if she is 2 months old, she can have 2 oz.

Amberizzle too much water and fenurgeek can actually work against your milk supplies and too much of this herb can upset babies tommy .Try nursing more often and renting hospital pump (Lactina), then nurse or pump every 2 hours.

I love your poem at the top..it's so beautiful!

mandapnda025 - Monday, 23 June
There is this stuff that you can buy called Gripe water. There are many different brands of it. But i used one that came in a blue box (it has been 2m since i have used it and can't think of the name sorry) It really seemed to help my son when he was gassy. There is also another brand that you can buy online it is called Colic Calm. It is great to just have on hand.

Hi,
For gas I would try a warm bath or lay baby on left side or you can raise the legs and feet while they are laying down. That helps releas little farts. :) good luck!

Hi! I just seen your post on the breast feeding page and I wouldn't worry about the amount that you pump as long as your baby is happy after feeding and growing. I just started pumping at the beginning of June and I could only get about 1-2 ounces, but if you stick with pumping, and you are emptying your breasts frequently, either by pumping or by baby, your supply will increase. Your breasts work on a total supply and demand system, so the more you empty the more they fill up. I can now, just after about 2 weeks, pump about 3-5 ounces per breast. It will get better just stick with it! Good luck!

It is absolutely true... if I skip meals or don't eat enough my supply goes way down quick. Also, try to eat oats like oatmeal things like that it helps.

oh sorry didn't see that u already replied. i deleted my question because i found it right after writing it :) it's amazing how u recovered so smoothly! wish it had been like that for me! how come u ended up with a c-section anyway? was it a choice?

MommyJewels - Tuesday, 10 June
Hey~
Very happy for you, and glad that you had a good c-section! Your birth story was beautiful! Can't wait to see some pictures:)

Congrats on your new princess! She's adorable. You are a talented writer and I enjoyed reading (and crying) your birth story. Love n hugs.

i'm having a similar experience with my ella. there are times when she can go 2-3 hours without nursing but at night she seems to want it constantly. the pacifier does help. i guess it's a combo of her being a very hungry baby and needing to suck to soothe herself. i also have a hard time getting her to sleep unless i'm holding her or she's in the swing. the only way she'll sleep in her cradle is if she's already in a very deep sleep when i put her down.

Martina26 - Monday, 9 June
yeah, im soo glad u had an easy deliery. Take ur time with the recovery though. There usually is a high right after then the reality sets in. Girl, pumping is just as good for the break from u and bonding time with daddy. Im soo lazy i only pump for if we go out or to grandma's. be sure to sleep when she sleeps. never ever start beating urself up over what u r suppose to be doing. What ur heart n body tells u to do is what ur suppose to be doing lol. i wish u all the best n keep me posted.

Great story! I am so happy things went well for you and Dani! Congrats, and come see us over on the baby side of this website when you and Dani get settled at home!

kyliecogger - Monday, 9 June
Thanks for letting me know- enjoy motherhood and some sleep when you can get it.

newbiemama - Sunday, 8 June
Hi! If you feel sad or frustrated for a short time this is normal and you are doing the right thing by trying to help yourself out by pumping and having someone else help with the feeding! but if you continue to feel badly i would speak to yuor doctor because everyone is at a risk of PPD. Don't feel bad about not giving the breast everytime it's no biggy.... if your babe is getting your milk than thats great! And you need your rest! happy mommy equals happy baby and you are doing the right thinbg by pumping if thsat's what you need to do. I pumped my milk and my mom stayed with us for awhile and helped with the night feedings. I pump now and trade off with my fiance so we can get as much rest as possible! You do what works!! good luck!

o0kathryn0o - Sunday, 8 June
That's great!! It's funny, you'd never think you'd ever be so interested in pee's and poo's, and even go so far as talk about the smell, and texture!! I do it ALL the time! It's just normal conversation for me now lol :o)

o0kathryn0o - Sunday, 8 June
Heya, how's babys pee's going? Did she end up having a wet diaper?

kyliecogger - Sunday, 8 June
Hi I just read your post- first Congratulations!

I have a question are you breast feeding? I am told that I will most probably have a c-section. I want to breast feed and am not sure if you can after a c-section.

Do you know what the go is?

Natos - Sunday, 8 June

WOW!!!! I just read the poem you have. I am so touched and feel the same EXACT way. Amazing isnt it?! how naive we were before on what we thought was beauty.
