I've been married for seven years and we have a six year old daughter. It took us two years to get pregnant with this baby because I have polycystic ovaries. Finally, on the third month of fertility treatments I got pregnant!

I felt the baby move for the first time on January 15th! Also, I will find out the gender on Feb. 8th. I have a feeling its a girl but we'll see. (Update: I'm having a BOY! And we're naming him Caleb Maddox)

My daughter has been talking to my belly and hugging and kissing the baby goodnight. She is so excited to have a sibling on the way. It's all she can talk about.

I've been craving apples and california rolls. Every once in a while I'll see an ad for something and I just have to have it. The other day I saw a commercial for skittles and I made my husband run to the store!

You can tell they are doing something down there like the tugging and stuff. And when they go to get baby out you feel pressure in your chest because they are pushing on the top of your tummy but it doesn't hurt at all!! It's more like the sensation of it. There is a video on utube that was taken at a hospital that shows the whole thing and it's really interesting. It's normal to be scared! Heck, this is my third and my heart will be beating so hard and it will probably take everything I have to keep myself calm. But, it's normal! I get a little nervous just going to the DR. lol

Hi! I had a c-section 2 yrs ago-and have no choice but to have another this time around for certain reasons. I don't know what it is like to have a vaginal birth-but I will tell you about my c/s. The actual birth was fine. No pain at all-just lots of pressure and tugging. I dont remember anything until 4 hours later. I had to stay on pain meds for a month and could barely walk for 2weeks. I also did too much too soon (because my hubbie had to go back to Iraq when our son was 2 weeks old) And I ended up tearing open the incision site. My recovery was not a good one-but I really suggest doing whatever your doctor suggests. And take your recovery time EASY-if you do have a c. Hope I've helped!!! Good luck!

Hi there, I've had 2 vag deliveries and so can't comment as such about the section thing, I did contemplate it with my second as we knew he was gonna be big and because I'd had nasty complications after my first...but in the end I went for the vaginal.

Remember this- don't compare an emergency section to a planned section, they are 2 different things...emergency section obviously because there is some issue and can be very traumatic and stressful with an air of urgency in the room...not really fun for anyone...and a planned section will be alot calmer with no real sense of urgency...the staff will all be prepared and ready and know ahead what to expect...and so the atmosphere will be alot more relaxed....

I will say that with my first (vaginal) there were complications and so recovery time was really long and hard...I probably would have healed quicker from a section so there are 2 ways to look at it...

Whatever you chose will be what's right for you at that time and I wish you all the very best! good luck xxx

Hello, I read your comment on having a C-section, and I my thoughts on the matter is do what your Dr. thinks is right. My mother had one with my brother, but before she did, she asked her dr to please let her try to deliver vaginally. He gave in and let her, and as a result, my brother almost died. I just think most dr.'s know what they are doing and will do what's best for you and your baby. Good luck and congrats!!! : )

I am wondering why the dr. suggests you have a c-section? I have had both a C-section and also I have delivered Vbac. There are more ricks involved with a vbac, but I will tell you my experience with both was good. My C-section was my first child and it was due to a breech baby, 5 1/2 weeks early, I went into labor and my water broke...it all went very fast and I was so nervous, but it went so well...the recovery after was a bit long in the recovery room and due to the age of my baby I wasn't able to see him for almost 10 hours, he was in the nursery and wasn't able to come to my room so I had to wait for the nurse to get a wheelchair and bring me to him or I could walk, so I walked several times a day down the long hall to see him, the nurses were suprised I was up walking so soon...once home, I didn't feel like the recovery was too hard, and once I became pregnant again I was convienced I would have another C-section because I felt it was easy and it went well, my dr., convinced me otherwise, I had a wonderful labor and delivery, only 4 hours of labor and 3 pushes it was the easiest thing I had done. I couldn't believe it, I went into it so nervous because i didn't know what to expect but it also was a wonderful experience, the baby was 36+5 days and did very well, so he was able to stay in my room, the recovery was good as well...I have had one more vbac delivery unfortuntally it wasn't so good, the labor was quick 4 hours once again but the epidural did not work and I felt everything, It was very hard. I find myself pregnant once again and I am pondering what I will do when the time comes to deliver, C-section or Vbac. Good luck with your decision. I think all deliveries are different for everyone and every baby.

Although I have not had a C-Section my best friend just had one on Wednesday due to her baby being breech. She could not believe how quick everything happened. As for the positives she said she didn't have to go through labor and once she was in the operating room it only took 10 minutes. The down side was the obvious pain from surgery but after 2 days she felt so much better. She also complained from being quite "drugged" the entire first day of her babies life which sort of bummed her out. Other than that she was extremely satisfied with the procedure.

shelleyrae33 - Sunday, 6 April
I had a C-section with my son. It was not planned, so I went through 18 hours of labor before the surgery and it made my recovery time a lot harder. It's like any major surgery, the recovery time will be hard. It's also harder to enjoy your baby right after when you are in a major state of drug induced blurriness. I hopefully do not have to have one this time, but if my doctor thinks it's best I will have to go with another one.

You know my last c-section was 4 years ago! and to be honest i don't even rememer the pressure! i wouldn't be scared of the pressure at all, b/c it can't be that bad if i don't remember, now i can tell you i had my son first and i remember every bit of labor with him!! even up untill the emergency c-section! lol... the only thing i remember when i had my second c-section is that my doctor pulled my daughter out ( i knew i was having a girl) and said on my goodness look at all the hair HE has!! and i kept saying HE HE HE?? she said oh no i mean she i am sorry i have three boys at home! yeah i almost had a heartattach b/c my boy was about to be really cute in all the pink clothes i had at home! lol... :) what ever you decide i am sure it will be ok exspecially if your doctor is caring about your feelings and about what happened before!

captlinda - Sunday, 6 April
Wow what a nightmare! Well it sounds like you have a MUCH better dr this time. I would go with what ever she reccomends. I had an emergency c section the first time so I was completely out and didn't feel a thing, and then I had lots of drugs to ease the pain. So I am with you, i'm not sure what to expect being a wake. My friend said you feel pressure but not pain. I don't think it will be that bad, just the recovery I'm not looking forward to. My csection is in 9 days, so I'll be sure an send you a message of my experience!

I had a c-section with my first 4 years ago. He was too big and I just wasn't progressing.
I would have rather delivered naturally because now days they prefer the repeat c-section because the liability of trying to do a vbac is too high.
I would rather try to go naturally and if a problem arises let them do the c-section.
It's major surgery and has a lot of recovery time. Anything you can do to speed up your recovery and get on your feet quicker is a plus.

Cbell - Sunday, 6 April
I had c/s with both of mine. The actual procedure was fine, nothing I can actually complain about. This time I'm definately trying for a natural birth though! Purely from the benefit to the baby and the recovery time. I'm also a RN and worked in Labour and Delivery and in the c/s theatre - my experience there showed that a vaginal birth is sooooooooo much better for aby and mom (unless a c/s is really neccessary). Well, hope this helps! Good luck with whichever route you decide to take!

pinchmeimsocute - Sunday, 6 April
My last one ended up being a c-section, my son was too big and i had pushed for over 3 hours and nothing happened, my first a girl was vag birth but my c-section was horriable. The spinal failed, meaning when they started cutting, I FELT IT! SCREAMING the next thing I new it was the next day and i had a baby boy. I was put under general anesthesia and was left with SEVERAL SPINAL LEAKS. Sprinal leaks hurt more than being in labor. I couldn't even move, i was in so much pain. I'm preg with my 3rd a girl and no c section or anything spinal for me. I don't mean to tell eveyone about a horror story but it did happen to me and was an aweful experience. Recovery of a vag birth is soooo much faster than a c-section.

scruz - Sunday, 6 April
My daughter was breech and low amniotic fluid so they did not want to risk flipping her for a normal delivery. After concerns about her not growing past 8 months my doctor scheduled the C-Section 2 weeks early. The experience for the most part was amazing. The catheder was very uncomfortable and it got a kink in it and was not draining, I kept complaining and nurses just didn't care. The spinal was the worst, I was freezing cold in nothing but a gown with a big belly and trying to touch my toes so they could get it in the right spot. After a few pricks and pokes that was done and I started to get numb right away. They brought my husband in the room right as they started cutting, I had no idea what was going on because of the sheet in front of my face. I was so wierded out when my husband held my daughter up for me to see, but I could still feel kicking in my tummy, they said it was contractions. I don't know if it was the anesthesia or just butterflies but I was vomiting throughout the entire process. The healing, I will admit I am from a small town and we do not have the best doctors. My doctor was new and has since been fired. She put staples in and took them out the next morning. I assumed she knew what she was doing. When I got up to walk around my incision split back open and I had to go back into surgery. Later I would find out that during the rupture I got an infection. After I got home my abdomen began to swell very badly on the left side of the incision. They said it was normal. I was not taking pain medication, because it made me unable to care for our baby, but I definately needed it. Finally I went to the emergency room and had to endure yet another surgery and a round of antibiotics for the infection. To this day 16m later, even though my body is back to normal I still have pain at the incision on the left side and sometimes swelling after intercourse or if my seat belt or pants apply pressure to the area. My doctor said it is just abnormal scar tissue and if I want another surgery they can fix it. I thought yeah right. I am a human and I do not like being cut on experimentally. Our hospital does not permit VBAC's due to the risk and that there are not enough doctors if there is a problem. When we decided to have another baby I also decided to change doctors, so even though we will have to endure another c-section maybe it won't be so bad. This doctor said that as he is doing the C-Section the excess scar tissue will be cut away, staples will not come out for a week and hopefully we will heal nicely. My scar is odd, it is flesh tone and soft on the right side(which is almost invisible) and red, hard and raised on the left side. The beautiful part of the whole situation is that I have an amazing daughter who is healthy and playful and so sweet. So Vaginal Birth or Cesarean something beautiful is to come of it. Make sure you are comfortable with the decision you make and don't assume your doctor knows everything, any concerns you let somebody know until someone listens. Good Luck with the new baby.

I see everyone so far says vaginal delivery is best. i have only had a c section so i dont know how much easier it is. for my cesearean i wentin at 4 had a baby by seven hardly remember any of it though i was awake but i was a little medicated. my son did have fluid in his lungs which would have normally been squeezed out through the birth canal. i nursed him a few hours after he was born which was alittle uncomfortable. i was in pain (mild) from thursday to saturday. i was a little sore sunday through wednesday . by thursday only a week after my c section i felt great and now 14 months later my scar is hardly visible. the best part of my c section is the fact that it was scheduled. my whole family took off work including my fiancee and were all able to be there because they put in notice of a sick day about two weeks in advance. there was no rushing to the hospital and having to call everyone and worry about who would beable to be there. also i only spent two night and two and a half days in the hospital the wort part for me was the catheder othwise no problems

noahsmom - Sunday, 6 April
well, i labored from 8pm till 5pm the next day when finally the decision was made to give me a c-section. i had a horrible recovery and wished i would have never had to have one. when both my sisters had their kids naturally they were up and around a few hours after the birth, but not me. i had to stay in the hospital for 3 days, then at home you have to be careful with the incision and there is the chance of rupturing the stitches which actually happend to me. i picked up something too heavy and felt the incision tear. i swelled up so went back to the hospital only for them to tell me they had to make an incision on my c-section to drain the blood. it was hard and painful. if you have the chance to have him naturally i would say go for it! surgery is harder on your body especially when you get more anesthesia. good luck, oh and by the way, we are naming our son Caleb to!

lolabean08 - Sunday, 6 April
wow there is a lot of replies but here is mine...vag with my first and i thought it hurt then i had the c-section with my 2nd and that is when i found the new meaning of pain...i have scoiliosis so they cant numb my left side...I FELT THE WHOLE THING!!!!! and recovery was terrible...and my inscision reopened for 8 weeks...i couldnt pick up my daughter for so long...and she couldnt sit on my lap because of the pain but it was faster...i am hoping for a VBAC this time if that shows you where i stand on everything...good luck and best wishes for a safe delivery...btw i am a nursing student also!!!

mcpheefner - Sunday, 6 April
I see alot of people have commented about this, but here is one more! I had a planned section with my first and have never experienced a vaginal delivery. But my experience with the section was really good. I had an easy recovery, I held him and nursed him right away, and never needed any of my pain meds. It is a long hospital stay and does leave a scar, but if it is what you have to do, it really isn't so bad. At least it wasn't for me! Best of luck!!

heather1218 - Sunday, 6 April
hello, well i am having my third c-section on May13th. i was in 24 hours labor with my son and it was hell they took him emergency c-setion and he was born not breathing and what you call a blue baby! i prefer c-sections, and as for holding my baby i held my daughter( my second) the min. i was able to use my arms which was as soon as i was done with my sugery and they immediatly put her on my breast in the recovery room.. my pain with both c-setions were not bad at all. hope this helps you out alittle, anymore questions feel free to ask! good luck
