Bravado Bras at Nurtured Family

Hi everyone! Well let's see where to start....

My husband James and I had been trying for almost a year and at times it just seemed like it wasn't going to happen, especially when we found out he was deploying...totally unexpected. Well on November 27th we walked to the store and got a pregnancy test because I just wasn't feeling like myself and my periods were down to the hour since I was 14, so I pretty much knew but wanted the proof. Well after dinner I went and took a test and before I could even flush there were two lines! I went running to him and jumped on him! It was the greatest thing ever! Still in disbelief I took another test and two lines again......there were so many emotions but we were so happy.

James left for Iraq on December 10th and will be deployed for 15 months, but we are still hoping it is cut down to 12 months. He will be home at the end of July...the baby is due August 5th...so I sure hope this baby waits for his/her daddy. Oh, and we have chosen not to find out the sex of the baby.

Almost 24 weeks pregnant now!

Last night as I was laying in bed the baby was really active for at least an hour and a half...that's when I finally fell asleep. Usually the baby kicks pretty low and the I see movements just around my belly button. Well it seems that the baby wanted to really explore his/her area in there and went all the way over to my lower right side. The kicks/jabs were pretty intense too...it was amazing! I love feeling and seeing the baby move around. I tried to video it so that I could send it to James but when I replayed it you couldn't really see the movements as clearly as I saw them. I was really bummed because I want so badly for him to see the baby moving around in there. The baby is becoming more and more active and I am loving every minute of it!

Yesterday I got some pretty bad back pain. It's from an accident that I was in back in college. I had a lot of therapy to try and repair torn back muscles but it looks like the pain is returning. :( Not too happy about that. Hopefully it won't get too bad.

April 14, 2008

I have been feeling the baby move more and more every day and it's GREAT! I love feeling the baby move around and explore his/her space in there and to see my belly moving around.

Last night I had such an awesome dream. I dreamt that James was home for a little bit and he got to feel the baby move. He had such a huge smile on his face and was so happy. I woke up with the biggest smile on my face and the baby was moving around too. I sure hope that the baby waits for James to come home so that he can feel the baby moving around...that would make me so happy. :)

Okay well let's see...I went to the doctor yesterday and thankfully my first doctor is back. The one I have been seeing doesn't belong being an OB.....everytime I would ask her a question, even simple ones, I would get the same response, "I don't know." UGH! How annoying. Even when I asked her for my results from my triple screen she wouldn't go and look at the computer to see she just told me to keep waiting...I had already waited 5 weeks! So anyways, the other doctor came back from her maternity leave and she was so incredibly helpful and answered all my questions and even suggested things to me. So it turns out I have already gained almost 30 lbs!!!! AHHHH! But she said that she honestly isn't worried because I was in great shape before and most of the weight is water weight. Oh, and yeah before I got pregnant I only ate once a day and now I actually eat three meals a day but I don't eat any junk food or sweets. So I have decided to see a nutritionist just to do it and see what she says about it all. I figure it can't hurt.

So I go back in two weeks for my next appointment in two weeks because I am going to get a midwife since we are having an all natural birth.

The baby's heartbeat is 140.....we are so excited to meet our baby :)

April 26, 2008

Okay..so I need to vent.....

Let me just start out by saying how much I despise living in Hawaii. I mean the weather is great, but other than that the place just plain stinks! Yesterday a dog came running at me and my dog to attack us and my dog totally stepped up and put herself between me and the dog and it bit her. She was okay...a little shaken, but okay. So I called the police immediately and told them what happened and he said he would try to get animal control out there..mind you I am sobbing at this point. I explained to him that I am pregnant and the dog tried to bite me for no reason and it did bite my dog....he still refused to send a patrol car out to make sure things were okay. I was so upset!

Then today.....Hawaii charges 5 cents for each plastic bottle, can, glass, etc.....so I decided I would actually give the whole recycling thing here one more try. What a waste! I was outside in the heat smelling that awful garbage smell for at least 20 minutes and for what? $1.85 because they wouldn't take all the plastic bottles I brought in, even though I was charged for them when I bought the water. Oh well. So then I take my dog out and this child comes running full speed at her and totally freaks her out and she ended up knocking things over at the store...no big deal, but honestly why can't parents keep their children near them. I mean they have no idea if my dog bites or not.....so annoying! So I had all these plans to go and do some shopping today and take the dog a bunch of places and honestly after the one store I was done and it was only 10:30 am. GRRRRRR!!!

Then I came home and I went to wash my hands and saw that a piece of chocolate, still in foil, was dragged about two feet and had teeth marks in it. So I called the maintenance department and told them everything and she said that since it's the weekend no one would be able to come out until Monday....we live on the military base. I never leave food out and as soon as I open something it gets put into a ziploc bag. So anyways, this just all adds to my total dislike for Hawaii.

It's a great place to visit but definitely not a place to live. Less than three years left now!

27 weeks and 2 days pregnant

Okay well I had a doctor's appointment today. I met one of the midwives on staff. She was really great and I feel good about our decision to switch to a midwife program.....after all we are going for the all natural birth approach. I am going to make a list of things that I want to talk about for my next appointment. I am just so glad that I have someone that actually answers questions and doesn't say "I don't know I haven't been pregnant before" ugh! that was so annoying and I had to deal with that up until my 25th week. What a joke! Anyways.....I had my glucose test today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It tasted like orange soda but the only problem was that I had to finish the drink in three minutes and I can't drink things fast, but I did it. I haven't heard about my results yet....should get a phone call about them tomorrow.

I have gained a few pounds since last visit and honestly I just can't figure it out. I watch what I eat and really I don't eat junk food and I can't stand fast food and have NO cravings......hmmmmmm.......like I said before though, they think the majority is water weight. I still feel great though so I am not too worried about it. It just means I will have some extra exercising once the baby comes. I have until February to really get back into great shape because that's when James finishes his deployment.

On a brighter note......James has switched shifts for a short time. He is now on the night shift over there. So that means I get two phone calls a day from him instead of one.......I am definitely getting spoiled! It's so good to be able to talk to him in the morning and at night. Oh and now it's about 12 weeks until he comes home for a bit!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!! I am getting so excited! Then the baby will be here too!!!!!!

May 18, 2008

Well, it's been quite a week. Wednesday morning as I was showering I noticed a "bulge" in my groin area on the right side so when I got out I looked at it. Immediately I thought it was a hernia.....I had the exact same kind on my left side when I was 6 years old. So I called my midwife and she said to come in and have a doctor look at it. So I went in and saw two different docs....one tried to push it back in...talk about pain! and the other said he was pretty sure it wasn't a hernia and that it was round ligament pain. However, it wasn't painful, well until they started poking around and all. So they told me to make an appointment with a surgeon. Friday morning I went and saw a surgeon. The nurse right away knew it was a hernia so she had me go to radiology to get an ultrasound, but I can't get that until tomorrow. Anyways, she then brought the surgeon in who examined me again, kind of felt like a freak show at this point with everyone looking and poking, and he said that yes in fact it is a hernia and it will require surgery. Now, remember, I had one when I was little and remember it like it was yesterday. But he insisted on talking to me like I was five and didn't understand anything. I asked him about restrictions and he said to do whatever I wanted and if it was causing pain or discomfort to just "load up on Tylenol" what an idiot! I mean even before I got pregnant I wouldn't take any medication, so why would I now? So I asked him about bringing my husband home from deployment because I need someone here to help and to help me do certain daily activities. He said it wasn't his choice to bring him home or not and that he would only write a note that says I have a hernia that needs to be surgically repaired and that it's difficult for me to take care of myself now. So I said fine whatever.....can I have the note....well apparently he didn't want to write it and told me to come back on Monday.....unbelievable! So I can't drive and you want me to come all the way back here to pick up a note! Grrrrrrr! So I got back tomorrow and hopefully he has written what he was supposed to and maybe something more so that I can have my husband back here to help me with things and make sure the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly. I should know by tomorrow what they are going to do, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that they do actually send him home.

The baby is doing great though....moving around a lot and I love every second of it! I can't wait to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. I still think it's a boy but will be happy either way as long as the baby is healthy. 11 weeks left! :)

May 24, 2008

Great news! I got a phone call on Thursday morning from the head at the OB/GYN clinic. It turns out I do not have a hernia and do not need any kind of surgery. YEAH! The doctor completely misdiagnosed me without doing all the proper testing. Talk about added stress that he put on both me and my husband. But thankfully everything is good and I can go back to doing whatever I want. Oh and I can have a natural vaginal birth just as planned.

Almost ten weeks left now. I am so excited to find out if we are having a boy or girl and to finally hold our baby in my arms.

Wow sounds like you've been busy. Yay your hubby will be home soon! That's exciting! Glad your lil pup is better. I know that has to be such a relief to you.
Here I'm just waiting. They pushed me back bc at my what was my 38 week appt. I only measured at 36 weeks so they wanted to make sure he has enough time to fully develop. So they pushed me back. I was bummed but I'll be checked next week Thursday to see where I'm at. Hopefully I'll have made some progress.

TrishW - 24.3 hours ago

Yeah i will deff need to call the inn then. Man thats crazy another one is deploying in Nov- until Feb. Do they all only do four month tours? I wonder if Kevin will have to leave with him I dont know who he will be attached on with because he is a 21 bravo combat engineer. We havent had a deployment yet when he went to iraq for a year we were just friends so it will be real hard on me I am not looking forward to any of it but its for the best. Or so I keep telling myself ive never been use to being alone in general so its something i will have to learn to get use to. Well good luck with the baby and hopefully your husband will be there for the birth :) Best Wishes!

shandyj - Wednesday, 23 July

Hey! I guess you can say my hubby's neurology appointment went well. I just don't think anyone in the Navy has a clue about anything. The doctor wants him to go back to the cardiologist and last week when we saw the cardiologist he said he didn't need to come back to him. He really didn't give us any useful information. He said its good that they haven't found anything because that means nothing is wrong. I think that's bad, I mean something could be wrong. Grrr.... maybe its just doctors in general that can't give answers. But at least for now he's ok.

shandyj - Monday, 21 July
Oh I know this is kinda funny ? is there air conditoners in the house there LOL I have heard there isnt? I was just wondering how miserable itd be without one

shandyj - Monday, 21 July

Being away from family and friends to a whole new place! I will deff have to check out the midwives! Thanks for the advice I am soo clueless I have got alot of baby things i just need to get clothes for hawaii lol i have like winter clothes because i had no idea we were going to be moving. So what base are you based at? Do you enjoy it?

skatrose - Tuesday, 15 July
Hey. That is crazy that it was pouring out on the field and it only sprinkled where you were. I guess that's Hawaii for ya huh? Wow you are 36 weeks now. How exciting! I bet you can't wait for the arrival of your little one and your hubby too! I know what you mean about expecting a bigger fireworks show. Back home they are gigantic and here it was tiny in comparison. But ah well, fireworks are fireworks right?
Things here are going just fine. I am thinking of going into the doc tomorrow to make sure all my female parts are working properly. heh heh. I don't think I'm ovulating every month and I suppose that's why my cycles are so irregular. So, I'll see what she has to say, and hopefully that'll put me on the right track. Other than that, we have just been hanging out at the pool, no beach for a few weeks. Gas is insane here isn't it?

skatrose - Monday, 14 July
Hey How you doing? Just checking in on you. How was your fourth? We went to the big thing on post but it was totally overrated I think. And really hot. Then right before the fireworks were about to start it was pouring. Grrr. So we just walked home. ha ha. Anyway, hope all is going well!

angel8l200 - Thursday, 10 July
Hey there! We are stationed over at Kaneohe. My husband is actually back from deployment now. He came back the beginning of May!!! When is your husband supposed to come home? I give you lots of credit for having to do this pregnancy all on your own!!! How are you feeling? You are almost done!!!! WHOHOOOO Are you going to Tripler or somewhere else? Well let me know if you need anything I am just on the other side of the island.

Nov-mommy - Tuesday, 8 July
how are you doing? your getting so close, so is it true about the last month going by the slowest?

brittg - Monday, 7 July
He found the onsie at the PX in Little Rock, Arkansas. I would think they would carry it at any PX though. You might even look at AAFES online! Good luck!

cowgirlygirl28 - Friday, 4 July
All you have to do is see your Primary Care Manager, and request to be seen off post. But before hand, shop around for civilian OB's and see who takes tricare prime......alot do....and youll deliver in the hospital the OB's are affiliated with. You can also eventually switch your Primary Care manager to civilian and have a civilian Pediatrician. If you go to http://tricare.mil/mybenefit/ and enter your tricare prime and location etc you can search for primary care managers and other specialties.....You don't need a referral to switch your PCM. All you have to do is go to tricare and request a change....and again they can be civilian...I don't mind my PCM being on base but I had a bad experience with my last pregnancy.....was high risk and saw a different doc every single weekly visit....ended up losing the wee one at 18 weeks.......This time around I didn't need to see one OB or midwife on post....I was very insistent on never walking foot into the bases OB clinic...

cowgirlygirl28 - Friday, 4 July
About your health insurance....you don;t have to be seen on base and still not pay a dime. I have been military since '04 and with Tricare prime, you can either be seen on post or off..you just need a referral to be seen off post. I refused to be seen on post for this pregnancy and got a referral to a civilian OB and pay nothing.....However, If I go to the drugstore to pick up my prescriptions (less hassle) I pay 3 bucks per script.....You can also choose a civilian doc as your primary care doctor.......

TrishW - Thursday, 3 July
Hope you have a good July 4th weekend too!!

TrishW - Thursday, 3 July
