Hi all you moms-to-be! I'm 25 weeks pregnant - have 3 boys (ages 16, 14 & almost 12) and am finally going to have my girl!!! Our daughter is due to be born May 18th and I can't wait to meet her!!! It's been 12 years since I've been pregnant and things are so different this time around that it feels just like the first time!

Congratulations to all of you!

Hi all. I just got back from a very tramatic 2 day hospital visit. I was at work - started having contractions about every 5 minutes... My boss drove me to an emergency room near my work. By then my contractions were every 2 minutes! They did an internal exam and told me I `m a `fingertip ` dilated and that I needed to be transported to another hospital because this one didn `t have L&D. I was transported by ambulance (lights, sirens and all!!). Ugggh!!! Now I `m on medication to stop contractions and will continue to take this medication until the end of the pregnancy.

Just got back from my 26 week doctor appointment. My doc said he `s taking me off the Breathene (Spelling) at 34 weeks (only 7 weeks away!!!) and then the waiting game will begin. I `m hoping that she `ll wait until her due date or closer atleast.

Found out that I have Gestational Diabetes Monday night - Ugh!!! Just waiting for Dietician to call me to set up an appointment to learn how to take care of this...

How`s my pregnancy doing?

What kind of formala did you give your daughter? I suplement here and there and had several different samples given to me so I've tried different ones. All of my children have taken and tolerated the carnation good start the very best. I gave Sam some similac advanced and got exactly the same reaction you got... Plus his poop was green and really mucosy after. If you havn't tried it already, give the carnation a try....Sam doesnt seem to know the difference and he was very unhappy with other formulas. If I had time to pump I would just do that but it's so much more convinient to leave him with formula. My sister and her husband keep him occasionaly so I can do big kid stuff with my other kids and my brother in law is grossed out to prepare breast milk :-)

Hey... I was reading your comment on bottle feeding formula. I ended up with an infection in the hospital and was on lots of medications when I had my daughter, so sadly I never breast fed even though I really wanted to. I thought I would try to answer some of your questions:

First off, formula is ALOT more filling than breast milk. That may be why she only at 1.5 oz. Also, because you can't measure what she is taking from the breast it's hard to tell what is normal for your baby. At least one feeding a day my baby only drinks about 2 oz. and other feedings she will eat 6 oz. Your doctor was right, you can't overfeed your baby when breastfeeding, but I think it may be hard to do it with formula too. Just pay attention to the baby if she is making faces she may tell you she doesn't want anymore, or she may just stop drinking herself-- when my baby doesn't want anymore she literally stops sucking and looks at me, or she chews on the nipple. You could always try pumping to see how much breastmilk she drinks in a feeding, and then mostly likely she will be drinking less formula. Also, she probably loves your milk so much that its just a change that she will get used to and that is why she didn't eat so much. About storing formula?? I am not really sure... I make her bottles warm (it's a little gentler on their belly, i read). So, I only keep them made for an hour-- I have never found whether they go bad. But I know people who will stick it in the fridge for a later feeding in the same day. Also for on the go, I bought a thermal sack, that I put the warm bottles with just water in. Then I bring along the powder mix and the mix it when I am ready. My thermal pouch keeps the water warm for a long time.

I just rattled off a lot of information, and I am not sure how much makes sense, haha. But I hope I somewhat helped. Good luck in the transition!!

Good for Alyssa! I'm glad she put her foot down and will accept nothing but the best! Lol!

Why don't you try pumping, if you want to enjoy the convenience of bottles? I'm going to try that soon. I'm a little nervous, since my first never took a bottle, but I have to go back to work in 7 weeks, so Alex has no choice.

btw, are you pregnant again yet?

awww, your baby is so beautiful! so, why did you give her that devil juice to begin with? she sure taught you, huh? so i remember a few wks ago you said you lost a ton of weight bc of the bfing. ive been bfing for 5 wks now and still have quite a bit of tummy, i still have like 18 pounds to lose. oh well, dont really care too much about that stuff as much as i used to. well, let me know how you're doing, k?

henrysmum - Saturday, 28 June
Hi there.

Purely breastfed babies have much smaller tummies as they drink less milk to achieve the level of nutrition and satisfaction. If you are introducing a bottle, it may take a little while for her to take a normal sort of quantity for a bottle fed baby for the simple reason, that her stomache is smaller. Other than that I am clueless!!!!!

My little guy eats about 4 oz's when he takes a bottle and I burp him between every two ounces sometimes less if hes gulping it down real quick thus sucking in more air. I have read that formula can only keep for an hour at room temp. am pretty sure it will say on the can I think thats where I read it.

stacey23 - Saturday, 28 June
When you pre-make formula I was told if the baby has not touched it, it is good for two hours room tempurature, but if the baby has started on it, it is only good for an hour. My little girl is gassy, so I have to burp her every two ounces. Also, I feed her as much as she wants...I was told they will stop when full.

heather1218 - Thursday, 26 June
