Hello to all moms out there. Hi my name is Aundrea, I have been married for 4 yrs and have a daughter that will be 4 on 9/11. This will be my second and im excited. The doc will be taking my baby by c-section the last week of January 2008. I had my daughter by c-section also, due to very high blood pressure. Now my blood pressure is normal. Good luck to all the ladys out there.

It's A Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!

10/8/07 Update: Blood pressure good for now but was put on meds. Cant wait for my boy to get here. His name will be Kennan James Morris......

3/3/08 Well i finnaly have a moment to update since having my baby almost 2 1/2 months ago. Keenan was born Dec 19 2007. He was 7 weeks early and weighed 4 lbs 15 oz 18 in long. He was transfered to dallas, tx 100 miles from me. He had a hole in his lungs and was put on 100% oxygen. We spent 6 weeks in the NICU and SCN in dallas. He has been home a few weeks now. He is doing great with the exception of acid reflux. The doc also sent him home on a apnea monitor which should come off in a few weeks.

We're doing well. I finally found a sitter and I totally loHve her. She went to school w/ my hubby. Her kids are in college and she just wants one little one to watch and grow attached to. She's the sweetest person. How is Keenan doing with his formula? I see from some of the comments that you were having trouble getting him to adjust. How's he doing now?

TexasTammy - Wednesday, 2 April
Hey there, how are you doing? Trying to get used to the new format on the website... How are the kids?

mayasmom - Saturday, 29 Mar
Hey, thanks for the response. It is so helpful to hear from other preemie moms. Your kids are beautiful and your little guy sounds like he is catching up. I just need to relax! I just feel like he has been with us for so long, can't help but look for signs of his development, but he was due just a few days ago, so I need to be patient. I think Ina may have some reflux, too, but Dr. isn't too worried just yet. He spits up a lot, but I eliminated dairy from my diet (I nurse) and that has helped tremendously. Anyway, keep in touch!

i would try the soy. Whats the worse that happens? he gets better? If this has been constant and the cereal isn't helping it is probably at least an intolerance. I hope it works. I know how helpless you can feel when they are in pain and you can't help!

luvbeingamom - Friday, 21 Mar
A good way to tell between the dairy allergy/intolerance or acid reflux is if you can sit you baby up while feeding, sleeping, etc and the condition improves, it is reflux. If it doesnt' matter what the position your little one is in that could be a sign of the intolerance. Also, from what i researched and my personal experience, try adding cereal to your little ones formula. If the heavyness helpsand he doesn't seem to be so uncomfortbale then it could be reflux. My son would throw up no matter what or how he ate. He was always gassy, uncomfortable and unhappy. From what i understand from mynew ped (not military any more) dairy intolarance is one of the most common issues that is almost never properly diagnoused. Usually it is mistaken for either colic or reflux. I would definatly try soy if you have tried everything else. My guy has grown out of his allergy (thank goodness) but he still drinks soy milk. it is very good for him and he is alreayd use to it. Hope that helped. I know i ramble! sorry!

I'll try it. My cousin gave me some of her daughter's prune baby food and I mixed a teaspoon of it in Taylor's cereal bottle and he pooped twice yesterday. He was much happier!

How much mineral oil for constipation? My boy has trouble with that, too

raeross76 - Monday, 17 Mar
Your baby may not like the formula or have a gassy tummy. My little one has colic. I was still breastfeeding when he got it. His stomach would hurt too bad to nurse. Then I eased him on formula. He ate, but still colic, then constipation. So we put him on some nasty tasting/smelling stuff called Nutramigen by Enfamil. He HATED it. It helped for 2 days and then back to square one. The doctor said to give it 5 days. Then I switched him to Carnation Good Start and he is SOO much better. Still some problems with pooping. Plus I started him on cereal. It could be a number of things for your guy, but I would call the pediatrician and see what he thinks. Ask him about Gripe water. It is a wonderful thing for gassy babies and babies with the hiccups.. LEt me know what the doctor says. Me and My son;s father have no intolerance to milk, and my son seems fine on the new formula. So it may not be an issue with dairy. I think my diet contributed to the gassiness with the breast milk. And mylicon does little to help.

i read your post about your little one spitting up. It sounds a lot like when my first son was little. it took time but we found out he was allergic to milk. Have you tried a soy formula? That is what finally calmed his tummy. He would have the worst gas, a lot of spit up, sometimes even throwing up. We tried milk after he turned 1 and went off the formula. He was still not handling milk well. He is now 3 and just starting to eat dairy again. Ok enough rambling, Sorry tired, anyways, try soy it worked great for our family! Good luck!

mom2jaiden - Monday, 17 Mar
The curdled spit up is due to the reflux. This is caused when the formula hits the stomach and then comes back up.

Hi & thanks for the post & the support. Congratulations on your son - WOW 11 lbs already. He has come a long way. Im over the moon that although my twins were born 6+ wks early they seem to have no other health problems! Today is 2 wks since they were born & they are thriving. My son is 1oz shy of 6lbs & my daughter is a few away from 5lbs. We are working on getting the feeding tubes removed & better nippling to be able to go home hopefully within the next 10 days. Take care & God Bless you and your family. Marie

Well you sound like you are doing everything I would be doing! Keep up the good work mom! When you think he is ready for that thick cereal give it to him. I put it in a bottle I don't spoon feed him yet. but I will start in about a month.

DonnaD - Wednesday, 12 Mar
I was like you I thougt I was the only one with a premmie to. My baby would sleep in his bouncy seat also or his swing on real low. Keep him swaddled also when you feed him. So older doctors are like that I have a very new and young doctor but she is good how long has he been on this formula? I do put cereal in each and every bottle for my baby not much but a little he also gets thick cereal twice aday my little one just started to sleep through the night about amonth ago when I went back to work. But that is about when I started giving him his cereal. How big is your little guy now? Monday mine was weighed and his is 13 jpounds 2 ounces and 22 inches long he is growing! Nice to meet you! Donna

Hello I too have a premmie He was born 7 weeks early also he was 4 pounds 6 ounces 17 inches. I am sorry you are going through this I too went through it. We changed my babies formula 5 times my doc put him on Axid for his reflux what type of bottles are you using. I was using hte playtex drop ins but he began to fuss with that bottle having alot of spit up well more than spit up so I went and bought some of the Dr Browns this weekend and he seems to be doing better with those bottles. I give my baby mylicon drops for the gas I give it to him right before each bottle. My baby was on the premmie formula we never went to the regular we went to the gental ones talk to your doctor and get him to give him the gental ease or something like that I don't understand doctors like that I tell my doctor what I want and she does it. Please write back if you have any questions or just want to talk. Hang in there I got to a point where feeding him was not a happy time and I dreaded it because he faught me make sure while feeding him you have him in an upright position that helps alot to I will burp my baby for a while put a little preasure on his belly while burping massage his belly while burping also. get a couple burps out of him. Sleep with a blanket of your baby and send it with him to your MIL that way he will have your sent with him. Mys sister watches my baby for me I have not put him in daycare yet with my other child. I can't wait to hear back from you.

Kikiea - Wednesday, 12 Mar
Hi! My son will be 4 months next week and he has had the EXACT same troubles you were talking about. He was NOT preemie, but at 3 months was only 11 lbs, just like your babe. He also has reflux and the dairy/soy intolerance. He is now on meds and prescription formula and is a whole new baby! He would scream in such pain that I begged the docs for meds and he is doing great! We also see a pediatric gastroenterologist, who prescribed special formula... because a lot of babies are sensitive to milk and soy.. which means any regular formula causing my baby problems. I wouldn't switch anything without talking to your doctor.. just give them a call.. they might want to prescribe special formula just over the phone... Good Luck, and feel to write me if you have questions.

RobinG - Wednesday, 12 Mar
aundrea did the doc suggest the cereal? That will constipate him and perhaps cause belly pain at this early age. There are formulas safer for this little with added rice starch in them that are good for newborns and up. They are Similac RS and Enfamil AR. Also depending on the amount of cereal you are adding it is hard to suck it from stage two nipples. My son was screaming one day when Idid give him a cereal added bottle at 3 months and I realized I hadnt used the Y nipple made for cereal, I used the #2 and he couldnt get it out. That may be why he is upset, not eating cause he cant get it out good enough and his mouth hurts sucking and trying ((())) I used the Sim adv once and didnt like it I think it was to much on his belly I prefer the gentle formulas (()) like gentlease. Others here have shared they didnt like that formula either (())
