Hey Everyone,I am just so excited to be able to set this page up because it means I `M PREGNANT!!! This is absolutely the best thing in the world!

Friday, 4 Jan

We had the MOST exciting trip to the doctors yesterday. The baby is 35mm long. Just as Santi asked if we would be able to see the baby move, the baby took a huge leap across the sack. He/she was waving its arms and scratching its ears. It was kicking its little legs. It was just the most exciting thing to see the baby `s head, belly, and little arms and legs. If that wasn `t enough, the doctor then did an external ultrasound and we actually heard the little guy/gal `s heartbeat!! It was so exhilarating!!! I keep thinking of him/her jumping around inside of me.

Saturday, 2 Feb

Hey Everyone, Just wanted to give my latest... I had a bad fever Thursday night. My doctor told me to go to the ER if it went over 100. Sure enough it did and we spent the whole night in the ER. I `ve been taking tylenol to reduce the fever but I hate taking anything while i `m pregnant. Anyway, my fever finally broke and no longer need tylenol. Now I `m just feeling really congested with a constant headache. This stinks!!!

Sunday, 10 Feb

So, I `m in the middle of my 16th week. I `m feeling much better and am starting to have a `little ` more energy... although I still tend to need my frequent naps. I `m getting so excited to feel the baby move! I can `t wait! Things have been stressful with buying and selling our house, but I `m trying to keep it together for Baby sake. We watched In the Womb from National Geographic. It was exciting to see the little baby growing and we learned a lot. I `m not fitting into my clothes or maternity clothes... so I `ve been a little annoyed getting dressed everyday. I `m so excited for my next dr. appt this Wednesday!

Monday, 11 Feb

Okay... I `m 15 1/2 weeks pregnant and yesterday, Sunday, I think I felt the baby move for the first time. I was just waking up and laying on my back. When I turned to my side, something moved inside me after I stopped moving. It was very exciting and I can `t wait to feel it again!!

Friday, 7 Mar

I am 19 weeks and 2 days today. I am feeling really good. Actually, I `m feeling not I `m not pregnant. I `m a little sad that I `m really not feeling the baby yet. Sometimes I think I feel something, but I `m just not sure. However, last night, after drinking a glass of water and laying on my side, Santi was able to feel the baby move. It was very exciting. He screamed out `I swear to God I just felt the baby! ` It was so cute. Now I can `t wait till I can feel the little guy or girl...

Monday, 10 Mar

I `m 19 and 5 days and after our lovely weekend trip to CT, we came home and layed in bed and watched Forrest Gump. While we were watching I had my hands on my belly. Suddenly I felt a bump. I told Santi right away and we both put our hands on the spot on my belly. Seconds later we both felt it. I also felt it inside. It was such a great feeling. We both agreed that last night was the first time we both definitely felt the baby. It was so nice that it was together.

Wednesday, 12 Mar

I am so excited that today marks 20 weeks!!! We had our ultrasound and doctor `s appt yesterday and the day before. Everything looks great and really healthy! I `m so happy and excited. The baby `s heartbeat on Monday night was 138 and on Tuesday night was 168. I have gained a total of 18 lbs altogether. I think I look pretty good still! I don `t feel like I `ve gained that much. Anyway, yesterday I woke up with a little surprise on my breast. Yep...the beginning of my first pregnancy stretch mark! Oh well... could be worse!!

Friday, 28 Mar

I `m 22 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Things have been going good. We just moved into our new place and am so excited not to have that stress anymore. I `ve been feeling the baby move more consistently now. Also, my belly is really growing. Getting dressed every morning has become quite the challenge! I actually outgrew one of my maternity pants! Another thing that `s going on is my constant `charlie horses ` in the night. I wake up with such sore calves. ooowww! I thought it was from walking up and down the stairs, but it seems I `m not the only pregnant one experiencing this. TIme to start eating more bananas! I have my next dr appt in a week.

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

I've been feeling the baby move really low lately. I've also have been having to go to the bathroom a lot more often than usual. I described all of this to my doctor last night and after a sonogram where everything looked normal, he did an internal on me. He then discovered that my cervix has softened. This isn't supposed to happen until the last month. I have to go for an in depth sonogram on Thursday to check the length of my cervical canal. If that begins to shorten, then I can actually start to dialate! So it looks like I'll be doing a lot of laying around for the next three months. Hopefully I won't have to go on bed rest.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

Okay... I just got back from my sonogram and everything is looking pretty good. My cervix may be soft, but no shortening, funneling, or dialating. It was so nice to see the little baby move as I felt the kick. The baby is head down facing out. Also, the sonogram technician knows if the baby is a boy or a girl... it's so weird for someone else to know and not me!! Now I am super excited to meet the little guy or girl. Can't wait!!!

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Today is the first day of my third, and last, trimester. The second trimester flew by! As the birth of my little baby gets closer and closer, I am more and more excited and, well, a little nervous. I have been feeling pretty good and really happy with the way things are turning out as far as my belly and body in general. As of yet, I have no stretch marks (I had one false alarm earlier on). I'm gaining weight at a good pace... at least i think so. A couple of annoying pregnancy things: I've been feeling extremely tired lately (but am able to rest during lunch at a good friend's house near work - thanks Irene!). Things as simple as putting my socks and shoes on has become a whole new challenge. I'm comfortably wearing my (Janna's) maternity clothes. Thank God for big sisters!!! Although, I do sneak some prepregnancy clothes in there as well.

Friday, June 6, 2008

Okay, I'm halfway through my 32nd week. Things have been great. I've been tired, but really happy and excited about getting closer to meeting my baby. It's so great to know that the baby is in position and ready. He/she is very low and is currently working on separating my pubic and lower back bones. I've been having a lot of back pains which leaves me on my hands and knees trying to relieve the pain. We're almost finished with our birthing classes and Santi and I are becoming more and more convinced that we want to try a natural birth - yipes! I am looking forward to the whole experience, but get a little nervous every once in a while. I'm happy to be able to feel the baby move all the time and to feel the baby having the hiccups around twice a day. I love feeling the little jolt every few seconds. Most of the kids at school have felt the baby move or have the hiccups. School is out in a two weeks and I look forward to the rest I'll get. I can't believe it's only 7 and half weeks to go!!

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Today, during 100 degree heat, instead of going home, as pregnant people were ordered to, I stayed for what I thought was my friend's bridal shower. As it turns out it was a combo shower for us both. It was very nice and the whole time I was opening presents, I was choked up thinking 'oh my god, i'm having a baby!' It was kind of a surreal moment being at my own baby shower... I've imagined it many times in my head. The kids at school are getting cuter: steven and lizandro want to know if it will hurt when it comes out, katie wants to know if i'll have milk coming out of my nipples, evan wanted to let me know that they'll be able to tell whether it's a boy or a girl because it will have a penis, and charlie wanted to share a story about a neighbor of his who pushed a baby out of her foot. I love listening to them and will miss them incredibly when I don't see them all next year.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Okay, I'm 33 and 1/2 weeks pregnant.. I just had to post my latest pregnancy dream. I dreamt that I could feel the baby inside my belly, but it felt like a cube. i could feel corners. Santi was at work and I was with my mom and my sister. I went into labor so they took me to the hospital. Minutes later, I gave birth to a Rubix Cube. The doctor cracked it open and inside was the most beautiful baby girl, with pigtails. Because Santi wasn't there, I kept saying to her, "do you want to meet your daddy?" Everytime I said the word 'daddy', she smiled so big and pretty. She had Santi's smile and eyes exactly. She was so gorgeous. A few mintues later, Santi walked into the room and she broke into the biggest smile possible for a baby when she recognized that he was her daddy. It was such a beautiful dream... aside for the part of giving birth to a rubix cube.

Monday, July 21, 2008

Today I am 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant. On Friday night, I had my bloody show and on Saturday I lost my mucus plug. I was pretty sure that these were all good signs that I may have my baby on my dad's birthday (yesterday). Obviously that did not happen, so now I am just waiting. Santi went back to work today and now I have all day to think about it all. I wasn't feeling too impatient to have the baby until the signs started on Friday night. Last night, I woke up with two very strong contractions and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm just waiting for something... I'm going to try my best to rest and relax with the time I have left before the baby.

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Today I am 39 weeks and 1 day. Tuesday - I was having bad cramps all day, I called the dr. He wanted me to go in for an exam. Turns out I was 70% effaced, but no dialation. He wanted us to keep the appt for Wednesday. So yesterday, Wednesday, we went in and had made no more progress. He did find that my fluids were getting low and that my placenta was already decaying. He also said that the baby wasn't doing its 'pretend' breathing, which made him think that the baby may not be very comfortable anymore. However, the baby was moving, so that is one sign that the baby is alright. Anyway, he wanted me to come in again today for an exam and then we would start making plans to induce. The appointment is in 4 hours and I'm a little nervous, but super excited to get this whole process started. HERE WE GO!!!

Membrane sweeping is done by your midwife or doctor. While internally examining you, he or she will simply "sweep" a finger around the neck of your womb (cervix). The aim is to separate the membranes around your baby from your cervix. This releases hormones called prostaglandins, which may kick-start your labour.

A membrane sweep increases the likelihood that labour will start within 48 hours. It has a higher chance of working if the neck of your womb is already softening and preparing for labour. It does not increase the risk of infection to either you or your baby.

A membrane sweep can be uncomfortable as the neck of the womb is often difficult to reach before labour begins and there may be some slight "spotting" of blood and irregular contractions immediately afterwards.

I found this on babycentre, I thought it sounded like the best explanation :)

Hey, thanks for the congrats! Sorry I am just now writing you back, but I had to go back into the hospital over the weekend. I developed preeclampsia after delivering the baby and I failed to notice the symptoms/warning signs at first. . .weird, huh? I spent a night in the ICU, but things are better now, I think. Otherwise, my recovery has been good and the baby is wonderful. All of her sounds and movements take some getting used to, though. . .I tend to jump and check her at the slightest little things! She's nursing for the most part, but sometimes I don't make enough milk, so I supplement her with formula. My parents came to help us out and that was great. How about you? How is everything going? I hope well!

Sooo....what is going on? Has labor started?

I am 37 weeks today. I just went to the dr this afternoon and he said my cervix is thinning. I didn't get any percentages. Good thing he checked me because he wasn't going to. I was glad to hear that the changes were starting. He was surprised. I am not necessarily in hurry, but I don't want this little one to be late either. Based on today's observations the doc said that his bet is that the baby would definitely not be a late one. I am feeling good. She doesn't seem to have dropped yet and I am pretty sure I still have my plug. She has the hiccups right now :) I am going to have a growth scan on tuesday and he thinks she is probably 7-7.5lbs already. I could use a bit more sleep on some nights but it helps that I am not working. Thank goodness for getting laid off! Do you think you've dropped? I am not sure if I can tell. Being tall maybe it is not as obvious. I haven't felt like I couldn't breathe or anything and thats how most people know...when they can breathe again. Are you all prepped and ready with everything. I am. My bag is packed and ready to go! Now we just wait for baby to make up her mind!

keez1979 - Thursday, 17 July
Hey, there! I had my baby last Friday! She is doing great. I remember that we had been talking about the frequent hiccups and I wanted to tell you what I have noticed. She did not have a cord problem or anything else, and she still has hiccups a couple of times a day, sometimes, especially after feeding. Hopefully, you aren't worried about the baby's hiccups any more! Let me know how everything is when your baby gets here! I know you can hardly wait!

babybarbados - Wednesday, 16 July
Counting the days....
how are you doing?

Carmione - Tuesday, 15 July
You doing well?

fisheagle74 - Saturday, 12 July
I was nursing exclusively when I got pg this time. I continued to nurse three more months. I weened my daughter at 9 months just so I could give my body a little break. I also was a bit weird in that I got my period back 6 weeks after delivery even though I was nursing. The good news about that is that it made getting pg with #2 pretty easy.

coronafrk80 - Friday, 11 July
Sure does!!! You look great though!!!!

newmommy0723 - Wednesday, 2 July

Yea, we have to wait to do the painting the other rooms because we have to be able to move everything out first, and in order to do that our new masterb edroom has to be done. It has to work like a little puzzle....once part 1 is done then we can put the rest in place. Besides I think its maybe a guy thing but my husband really wants to be the one to get it all done. I told him that I was going to even put the dresser together today since I am home with my 7 year old who has an ear infection. But then when I mentioned it to him he was like I dont know that I want you to be doing that, moving things and stuff. I just think he feels like he should do it....but I said sure, no prob I can sit on the couch with my feet up all day eating...lol....a painting party would be a good idea but I dont know if I could even get ppl to come help. But ppl might surprise me. Thanks again.

smerty - Sunday, 29 June
Thanks :0) Congrats on your little one... not too much longer! Best of luck to you!!!

dasha - Friday, 27 June
Hi. Its the story of Leah and Jacob and family from biblical times, and describes the experiences of women who spend much of their time in the red tent, which is where they go when they have their periods and birth babies, which is forbidden to men...its all about relationships between them, and "trials and tribulations" of the time....reeeeally good.
