Pregnancy Journal
friday 16th may - 41 weeks 2 days
I chased up my blood test results yesterday, everything ok... still no signs of labour x
wednesday 14th may - 41 weeks
so my midwife came out to perform a sweep this morning, which was unsuccessful (and bloody), the neck of the womb was pretty much unreachable and closed - completely unprepared for labour... she took my blood pressure several times and it had shot up - there was also protein in my urine, she felt for engagement and the baby's head is still free above the pelvis so she called the antenatal unit at the hospital and advised that I would be there shortly... hubby picked me up and took me to the hospital - there they monitored baby's heartrate which was fine, my blood pressure had gone down but there was an even stronger indication of protein in my urine so blood test were done to find out if there is a problen with my liver/kidneys.. I also had an U/S to make sure that baby was definately not breech - the U/S showed that it WAS a head above the pelvis... my induction was originally expected to take place on monday 19th may but they have pushed it back as far as they can to wednesday 21st may in the hope that I will go into labour on my own or in at worst my cervix will be more favourable x so now they've let me come home and they will ring with results on my liver kidney tests.
monday 12th may - 40 weeks 5 days
5 days and counting I've read at this stage a baby puts on around 1'oz of fat per day - the only weight estimate that I've had for baby is at my 4d scan, the sonographer said that based on his measurements he was either going to be a 6-7 llb baby OR he was going to be 10-14 days late - it looks like its going to be the latter, but my midwife isn't convinced that the U/S measurements for weight are accurate, but I might ask the midwife for a weight guess on wednesday when she comes to do my sweep just for the fun of it x
saturday 10th may - 40 weeks 3 days
so we've gone 3 days over so far, I dont really mind except that Gareth works overtime on saturday evenings and he could be anywhere in the country which makes it awkward if he has to be called back for the birth so here's hoping baby comes now or waits until sunday :-) I'm suprised that I'm so calm and comfortable about being overdue - when I first got pregnant Gareth said to me 'you're going to be a nightmare waiting for this baby - you want everything yesterday' I think that weeks ago I made peace with the fact that due dates are only an estimate and if the worst comes to the worst I will have my waters broken in 9 days time x
I'm sure baby's toenails need trimming - it feels like he's scratching me :-)
wednesday 7th may - due date! 40 weeks
I had my midwife appointment today my measurement was 41cm/weeks and as I thought my baby boy still hasnt engaged he's still just on the brim of my pelvis - but no worries she said that sometimes baby's head doesn't engage until labour, anyway since my due date has come the drill for going overdue was explained....
on wednesday 14th may in the am (at 7 days overdue) my midwife is coming out to do a sweep and then induction by breaking waters if my cervix is favourable on monday 19th may (at 12 days overdue) if the sweep doesnt work (or I dont just have my baby anyway lol) - however if my cervix isn't favourable then I will be given prostin gel but midwife said that most mummies dont get to 12 days after a sweep :-)
saturday 3rd may - 39 weeks 3 days
yeah! finished decorating entire living room AND kitchen :-) so much for my next post being my birth story! lol
friday 2nd may 2008 - 39 weeks 2 days - early hours
just rolled over into 2nd may since its here in the UK we have gone into the 'wee' hours and yeeeh! its the bankholiday weekend for us - which is a good thing because my nesting instinct kicked in about 12 hours ago and hubby & I went and got everything we need to redecorate our living room - I am still amazed that he agreed to it since we are so close to the due date lol anyway since its the bank hol we've got a 3 day weekend to get it done, my brother and his girlfriend have been roped into help too... already started painting around the light fittings and skirting boards so knowing our luck little spencer will decide to make an appearance this weekend whilst the job is half done and it will be all my fault x
so I'm going to try and get some sleep now and hopefully the next time I post it will be my birth story (with decorating completed ;-)
wednesday 30th april 2008 - 39 weeks!
I am sooo in love with my little baby, as I speak I've got my laptop sat on my lap and he seems to be trying to kick it off lol, I love it when he does stuff like that - he did it when I balanced the remote control on my bump last night (arr couch-potato heaven) I've managed to get a video of him bouncing a bottle half full of water on my bump... since I haven't got long left I am going to try and saviour these last special little moments between mummy and unborn son x more than likely I will have plenty of time, at my last antenatal appointment at 38 weeks he wasn't engaged any further (but still in the correct position) and since then I still have my mucas plug and I dont really think that I've had any braxton hicks contractions either, no biggie I suppose my next appointment is on my due date in 7 days :-)
tuesday 29th april 2008 - 38 weeks 6 days - 4.47am
I cannot believe how late (early!) it is... almost 5am and I've logged on in the hope that being on the laptop will at the very least tire my eyes out - but alas it doesnt look like that is going to happen, and I can't really blame it on the pregnancy - I dont feel the need to pee every 5 minutes and the baby is settled (and probably snoozing) at least when the baby gets here there will be a reason for the lack of sleep - I suppose I could look on it in a positive way - like I'm in training for the baby keeping me awake at all hours :-) I'm sure I'm not the only one going through this (I hope - that sounds cruel actually...) x
sunday 27th april 2008 - 38 weeks 4 days
I just found this on some random site and I thought I'd add it onto my journal - lets see if its going to be right (the boy bit is right - but I have green eyes and daddy has blue...)
Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labour and birth experiance.
What she senses for you - The day you deliver, outside will be hazy. Your baby will arrive in the evening.
After a labour lasting approximately 19 hours, your child a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds 2 ounces, and will be 21 inches long. This child will have hazel eyes and a little patch of brown hair.
wednesday 23rd april 2008 - 38 weeks
just got back after a long day shopping etc we decided to go for reusable nappies called smartnappy by mothercare - we'll have to see how it goes, had my midwife appointment today and I am measuring 37 and 1/2 weeks and the baby's head is still at 4/5 which is just at the brim so he hasn't made any progress engagement-wise but he's happy in there which is fine by me so my next midwife appointment isn't until my due date in 2 weeks exactly.
tuesday 22nd april 2008 - 37 weeks 6 days
I have found my phone and got some baby related texts -my brothers best friend has just knocked up his girlfriend (not at this moment - they just found out lol) and my friend has had her c-section penciled in for september 23rd for her third an final baby - so at least they wont need do an emergancy one this time - again!
friday 18th april 2008 - 37 weeks 2 days
getting there slowly but surely, I have really enjoyed carrying my baby boy so far and I don't want to whine too much about the pains of late pregnancy (but no doubt I will anyway lol) I'm really going to miss having him all to myself when he gets here, but then at the same time I can't wait to see and hold him. I have my next midwife appointment on wed 23rd when I will be 38 weeks - with a bit of luck he will have engaged deeply ready for action!
p.s it seems that there is abit of a baby-boom going on in my area, another one of my friends has just told me that she is expecting! all this shock - my baby is going to fall out of me if I get much more (there are 12 people that I know who are expecting now) :-)
wednesday 9th april 2008 - 36 weeks 0 days
had my 36 week appointment with midwife today - baby's head is now stating to become engaged (the top part is right on the brim)! so baby is playing ball so far - roll on labour! xxx
tuesday 8th april 2008 - 35 weeks 5 days
a few hours away from being 36 weeks - this isn't the first time that I have been to this site, I actually first came on when I was 4 weeks pregnant and craving pregnancy knowledge but now i have signed up as a member... I won't go into too much background deail since my profile QandA lists the basics x
my husband and I started trying for a baby since before we got married on the 21st July 2007 and we found out that we were expecting on my friends 21st birthday on 29th August 07 (we conceived a honeymoon baby!), it would be fair to say that we were very much over the moon but at the same time shocked and alittle bit nervous x
anyway.. today baby has decided to do lots of twisting and turning - I think that he must have boney elbows its starting to get quite sore when he pokes and prods now :-} looking forward to the birth but I really hope that I dont have to have a C-Section, a friend of ours had to have an emergency C-Section after being in labour for over 30 hours and she is really struggling to recover.
good luck to you all and the little miracles that you carry x
love charlie xxx
