Hey...don't be scared. DH should be scared....we have endorphines and great hormones coursing through our blood and are oblivous to everything except getting baby out. DH has to sit and watch everything...stone cold sober!! He will have so much love, compassionand empathy for you after watching/experiencing that! It is so worth it, it really isn't that bad (pain for seriously 45 seconds every 2-5 minutes...no sweat). From 7-10 cm, I was actually sleeping between contractions, that is how in the zone I was. My contractions slowed down to every 7-8 minutes and I was sleeping!!! A week later I am in my pre preg jeans (massive muffin top however!) down 25 lbs, getting 'some' sleep, loving my baby and how happy healthy he is and totally diggin being a mommy...pain gone and forgotten. It is 'almost' like it never even happened. Minutes afterwards I had forgotten any 'discomfort' and you will too!!! Goold luck, I hope all goes as you wish!

Oh, P.S. I totally know what you mean about friends drifting apart right now. We moved here 2 months after our wedding in June 06 from Los Angeles and a ton of our friends were at our wedding and then it was like PULLING TEETH to get any of them to return e mails after we moved here. Totally outta sight, outta mind. Especially with a lot of my friends because i knew a lot of them from doing the 'acting thing' in LA and actors are so selfish anyway, haha, so it was like, 'well you're gone so it's not like you'll be able to do anything FOR ME anymore...' Kinda sad when i really realized it. It got so bad that when I announced that we were pregnant in an e mail, some of them NEVER even responded! To this day even!! And I'm like, 'Wow, sure glad I invited you to our wedding and paid a fortune for your dinner!' Oh well...Then they would give us crap for not keeping in touch with them all the time. I always get the, 'I never know when to call because I don't know the time difference' thing. Right now with daylight savings we're 3 hours behind the west coast (usually only 2), 6 hours behind the east coast (usually only 5). So it is a big difference, but it's not like we live in Europe or something and are 10 hours apart, geez! Oh well. After the baby is born and I've settled into mommy life, I plan on getting together with a new Mom's group that just started over here in the summer. There are already like over 100 women who are in it and I guess there are like 25-30 members who are super active all the time, so that will be fun. But, yes, let's for sure keep in touch! I wish we lived closer too, we'd totally hang out!! ;-)

Don't feel like an ass...I mean you ARE having some type of contraction...so it's not like you are the crazy lady sitting in the park (not pregnant) telling a pigeon (her 'doc') about having contractions, haha!! I was having a bunch of movements and stuff the other night so I started writing down the times and if it felt like a movement/kick, or a lot of tightness, etc. Well, then I was having a really strong tightness in my stomach but it went away really fast. (and that was something new that i had not felt yet.) So I talked to my doc about it and she said that those are real labor contractions. She said that Braxton Hicks contractions slowly build up and you can feel them (not too painful) then they slowly go away. The real labor contractions (or I guess some people like to call them 'false labor' contractions since you're not in actual labor), those come on real fast, are super tight and can be a bit painful or not really at first, then they go away real fast. So I had one or two of those and some BH and then a lot of kicks and rolling around and stuff. She said that was good and that my body is getting ready. I haven't had an internal exam or anything yet so i have no idea if I'm dialated or not, but I'll have one on Mom at 39 weeks. I'm like, OK, not like waiting til the last sec or anything, haha.

sounds like contractions to me. thats why women say 'Well, I wasnt sure and thought it was gas'...Good Luck!! I'm jealous...

my3lilones - Wednesday, 12 Mar
TRACK YOUR CONTRACTIONS FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. IF THEY COME EVERY 10 MINUTES FOR EXAMPLE AND GET STRONGER THEN CLOSER THEN THEY ARE REAL BUT IF THEY COME AT 1100 THEN AT 1130 THEN AT 1150 AND 1230 AND 1245 THOSE ARE BRAXTON HICKS FOR EXAMPLE

Hi I was just reading the comments and I have had the same thing. I had diarrhea something awful all day yesterday and i have been burping like crazy!! They are not normal burps either. They are absolutely disgusting. I have been laying down because I feel so bad but I get so nauseas so I sit up and these enormous nasty burps come out. I'm sry it's tmi but your comment sounded exactly like what I've been having. I took a few doses each of Pepto and Imodium. Neither one helped the diarrhea but they totally helped the burping and nausea. Give it a try and good luck. I actually feel better today, yesterday is when I o'd on the Pepto and Imodium, lol.

Hi hun...Yeah I to was put on bedrest for fetal growth but it was in the beginning of my pregnancy around week 27 and I have been on bedrest ever since then as long as babies heartbeat and everything else they say looks ok I wouldnt worry so much I know easier said than done. But my baby did like a complete 180 we now are inducing me due to pre eclampsia and my baby is in the 86% tile for being to BIG for his age! so it could turn around in two weeks...just because my bedrest started at week 27 nothing changed until one week to the next two weeks so it was about in 2 weeks is when he stepped it up out of nowhere...well good luck to you I'm sure everything will be fine

Hi there,

I am from week 37, when I went to my 33 week check-up, the baby had not grown much and had not put on weight. My doc put me on bedrest. I have a very demanding job and was moving too much, am now on maternity leave. Bed rest worked for me, my baby is back on track. Don't worry, they go through spurts, you are almost there. Good Luck!!!

Hello! My last day of work was 2/29/08 and I'm due on 3/14/08. I decided that two weeks before I'm due was a good, much needed rest for me. I've read so much about naps and the importance of rest....and because I was still working I never got to take a nap. Plus, I figured that if I went early then I'd have at least a few days to get some stuff done. Good thing I did thought because it looks like I'm going to be induced this weekend! I still have a few more days to finish laundry and get everything in order...and I'm so glad. This is one of the only times that it's ok for a woman to rest and do nothing, so take advantage of it!!!! Good luck to you and take it easy!!!

If you could afford it take the time off! i am loving an enjoying it and taking the time to get everythign ready and walk and take care of myself!!

star98m - Wednesday, 5 Mar
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and last friday was my last day at work, I was just starting to feel so tired and walking was so hard for me. I think you should have at least two weeks to rest before the baby comes, so you could be more fresh and have more energy for him, but that's up to you. I have two kids already and trust me you won't be able to rest much so enjoy now that you can..

newfamilysoon - Wednesday, 5 Mar
hello- I am due on March 17th, and I was going to work all the way until the 14th (I am a teacher), but I have been a lot more tired and have more pressure during the past week, so I am making this Friday (I will be almost 39 weeks) my last day. I have measured small the whole time, and am not terribly uncomfortable, but I think working until 39 weeks is pretty good! We all deserve a week of rest before baby! :)

Oops! I thought I responded to you a while back! Sorry!! Thank you for your post about my page. I try to entertain myself, haha! That was sweet. About the elliptical, I do every so often get Braxton Hicks contractions while I'm on there...it reminds me to slow down or whatever. My doc also said it could mean you need to drink more water while you're doing it. But I haven't felt any pain or cramps per say. If you are I might ask your doc about it and see what they say. I remind my docs every time I go in that I'm still exercising as much as I am and I remind them what I'm doing (swimming laps, elliptical or whatever) so they are aware of what I'm doing at home. (They are like, 'yea, yea we KNOW!' haha...but I'm just making sure it's still OK at this stage.) They always say that it's perfectly fine for me to continue, but I haven't had any problems with the pregnancy at all, so I think that has something to do with it. I feel very lucky and blessed for that especially after I read what some poor girls are going through on here! I feel for them!!! But one of my docs (I only have 2 and a nurse pract.) told me that I could still jog right now if I wanted to and that it would be perfectly fine. I thought that was kind of crazy with all the jolting or whatever, but he said it would be fine. He just told me no skydiving, (haha) and no surfing. Which I was bummed about that. He said no surfing way back in the first trimester though. But I highly recommend swimming laps if you have access to a pool. I have found it to be the most calming and relaxing and I totally zone out and just concentrate on my breathing while I'm in the water. I love it! P.S. I LOVE Roanoke! I was there for a week or so about 6-7 years ago and I was staying at the Roanoke Hotel (the old, famous one that had caught on fire at one time.) Anyway, it was really nice and I remember all I ate while I was there was crab! I swear for every meal I had crab. haha, it was the BEST ever! (I was there with a friend on a business trip doing work at the hotel so it was all comped, our rooms, the food (even wine!!) and everything...so THAT'S why I ate crab for every meal, haha! If I was paying for it I would probably be telling you, 'Hey, they have a great Taco Bell there! Excellent fire sauce!' haha!) Very beautiful city though. I enjoyed it very much! ;-)

HI,
(ABOUT YOUR MIL)I would tell your OB or pediatrician and have her come with you to one of your appointments and have them discuss the dangers to both of you so it doesnt look like they are pointing fingers to just her. Let both drs know what she did and Im sure they will give you info either by talkiing to you or they might have worksheets that have these safety issues on them. HOPE this helps. Take care. :)

I have not been checked yet but from my belly measurements I am measuring two weeks small. My doctor says its fine because me and my husband were on the small side when we were born and I am small framed. Im sure everything is fine, your just one of the lucky ones who isnt pushing out an 8 or 9 pounder!

naomijane - Wednesday, 27 Feb
My baby was 4lbs and 15 oz at his 35 week (&3days)scan so what I did was eat more protein, take all my vitamins, drink lots of water, and I started excersizing daily. The reason I did all this was because my sister in law had bad placentas with both of her children and so they didn't get all the nutrients they needed so they had small weights but what you have to do is give your baby extra so he is essentially getting would a regular placenta would be giving him I hope this helps! Just really keep up with him don't worry about gaining if you want a healthy baby!

whitj2554 - Wednesday, 27 Feb
My baby was like 4lbs 5oz 2 weeks ago but then this week shes up to 4lbs 13 oz they said id prolly only have a 6lb baby but she is gaining weight fast...was your baby like right at 4lbs?

arbaseler - Monday, 18 Feb
I decided not to use Dreft, as I didn't want to buy two seperate detergents. I did buy Tide Free (my husband is sensitive to all other brands) so that I can use it on our clothes and the babies. I will still wash the babies clothes alone, as I like to put softener in ours but not in hers. I guess it is personal choice; but I have enough expenses without buying special detergent!

simplyme - Monday, 18 Feb
Hey there, I also was curious about the detergent story. i was told that you can use any soap powder but make sure it is rinsed out properly and then i bought fabric softner specially for babies. well thats what ive done...my babies clothes smell wonderful.I suppose it just depends on your finances i cant afford special soap powder for baby and soap powder for me and my SO. So i just used our soap powder. im sure it will be fine. Hope your pregnancy is going well.

mamagarces - Monday, 18 Feb
