My baby is due on July 2nd.... and she's a girl :) i really cant wait and it feels like i've been pregnant forever.. I only have 7 days to go as i just clicked over to week 39. There's so much to look forward to... and it feels like i've made every preperation possible for my little girl to come.... When i have my little girl i'm going to make a comprehensive birth story, as i've found being a first time mum myself, i really need to know all the nitty-gritty details so i can prepare myself better for when i go into labor.... i hope what i write will help you other first time mummys.....

Keep all your fingers and toes crossed for me :)

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE :) xxxx

With my first baby I never had any contractions that I actually felt until I was in active labor. A braxton hicks may feel like your tummy tighten but becuse it is your first baby its not weird not to feel it. As for never havign a period pain consider yourself lucky. All I can say is you will know when you feel it. You will just know and it can happen with no signs so just relax and rest up. good luck

Hi, I just heard a story of my BF's colleague's wife, who went just to beach one day, feeling NO labor signs, and after coming back the labor started. So, you can start it "just like that", without any warning signs. Also heard, that the length of labor is not depending on this. As Im also not having any signs, Im just waiting it to start like that. Hugs, and good luck, K3

Hello,Read your post. Yes - you can feel nothing and then go into labor. With my first I rarley had BH contractions and I never had any period like cramps. I also never lost my plug, After baby was born though - I have had menstral cramps every month - no fun! With this pregnancy I have had lots of BH and period cramps! It's confusing because its so different than my first. Also - BH contractions can be caused by dehydration. I was having a ton until I went to the hospital and they let me know this. Now I drink lots of water everyday and that helps keep them to a minimum so I don't think that I am going into labor every second! Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your parents. Keep that man close to you and I'll bet he will provide you with better support than you're anticipating. Both you mother and Mother in law are in thoughts and your baby girl also!

Yes, the earlier the u/s the more reliable the dates. If the later u/s show a different due date, ignore them. I'd go with the due date given at your first u/s if it was early enough. Mine was at seven weeks, and it still appears to be the most accurate estimate so far.

Hey, I'm from Australia also. My doc told me with the ultrasounds that the only ones that are truly accurate are around the 6 - 8 week mark. The 13 week and 19 week scans can be out by as much as two weeks. This is my fourth child, and each time my ultrasounds have tried to put me at least a week further than I was. Previously they adjusted the due date accordingly, but then I ended up being really overdue each time. It's just that I have big babies. So if you had a really early scan, from what I have been told, trust that. Otherwise, I would say trust your own dates, to avoid the disappointment of going really overdue!

I WOULDN'T WORRY IF IT WAS YOUR PLUG IT REGENERATES ITSELF ANYWAY AND WOULD FORM ANOTHER ONE.

I had a scheduled c-section. He is my third so I got to have him at 38 weeks. He weighed 10lbs 7.5ounces!!! HUGE!!!!

Sure, just make sure you are up to it and check with your pediatrician before letting people get around the baby. I had my shower not that long ago and I was so exhausted when it was over, said, and done.

hi there! A sweep is where your midwife or doctor inserts their finger into the cervix and rotates their finger around "sweeping" the mucous from around the cervix which releases prosterglandins which can often induce labor. Internal exams is where they insert their finger and by telling that way they can see if you're dilated or effaced. I hope I helped. good luck to you!

Glad to hear you got good news about your mom! I hope you get to see her soon. Just like you will get to see your baby soon! Still hard to believe that we are this close!

joshswife - Monday, 23 June
I am so sorry about your mom and for you being sick too. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Sounds like your mom is a pretty special lady.

I'm really sorry to hear that about your mum. I'm an ICU nurse and know what you're talking about. Hang in there tho, one day at a time, and take hope in every small step. Keep talking to her about your baby, and hopefully they will get to meet soon. Best wishes for you and your family..x

Glad to help...isn't the forum just great?! Sometimes it's nice to know what everyone else is experiencing so you don't think you are losing your mind! Hahah!

About you concerned not having BH contractions (or, actually not feeling them, or recognising them). I would just say that everybody is different, and you just might not recognise them. Or, they are not as strong as some women have or whatsoever... Really, think of some ladies that are actually in labour for hours before they even recognise it. Its really normal and happens quite often (ok, going to labor is also a very long process...) Anyways, I have even heard of some women, who have dilated 8 cm (!!) and start having "real" pain only then... Thats of corse very rare, but just think that everybody is different and you might just not recognise your BH contractions which are anyways quite difficult to recognise...!

happymomma2be - Wednesday, 14 May
You may be having them and not realize it. I just talked to my doctor today, and he asked me was I having any contractions. I was like, um, not sure, but I THIIIIINK so. He laughed and said I sounded like a first time mom...which I am! I described a tightening sensation, and he said that most women describe it as if the baby is balling up...and that's exactly what I have been having. I thought the baby was just curling up in a spot, but that is apparently a contraction! So maybe you just aren't feeling them yet or didn't know how to recognize them...I certainly didn't! Hang in there...I am sure we'll both be feeling them soon enough! Congrats on your upcoming arrival! :)
