23 January 2008: HAPPY NEW YEAR'S MOMMIES! A lot has happened since the New Year with Alyssa! My how she's grown! She's already rolling over, eating solids from a spoon, and as of last night, HER TWO BOTTOM TEETH have grown in! It is so cute, and I'm very excited as a new Mommy! She bit down on my finger as she was "looking" at my rings, and boy, did that little chomp hurt my finger! It was then, at that point, that I knew there was something on her gums....TEETH! I was also like "no wonder she's been so irritated this past weekend." She's been using her teething toys and drooling like no one's business, and I've been checking her mouth, but never felt or saw anything until last night. So, my husband and I are very excited! She goes in for her third set of booster shots in February. I missed her second set as I HAD to be at work the day she went. I was totally mad and sad...but, this time, I AM GOING! So far, she's been loving her peas, carrots, squash, sweet potato and applesauce. She especially loves apple juice! She's also been starting to hold her own bottle now when she feeds. She is still sleeping in her bassinette next to me at night, and Daddy thinks that it is now about that time to have her start sleeping in her crib, which is in the room right next to us. I'm sure all you Mommies know that cutting those "ties" is not easy...so, I'm a little hesitant on starting her to sleep in her own crib. Of course, I do know that breaking the habit of her sleeping with us will be a horrible one to break, so I have to do it now! :-) She turns 6 months on February 2nd. Her first birthday falls on a Saturday this year, so I'm already starting to plan out her party! My little girl is almost half a year old, with two new teeth! Bye for now!
05 December 2007: WOW! It's been A LONG time since I've updated my page. I'm proud to say that Alyssa is growing and developing very well for her age - 4 months. She now weighs 15 lbs, and is 22 in. long! She had her second set of booster shots yesterday, and she is doing well. All in all, she is doing well, and our little family is growing, and we couldn't be happier!
My little Pooh--almost 1 year old!!!
HOW I FOUND OUT I WAS TO BECOME A FUTURE M.I.L.F
(aka future super-mom!)
This is my first pregnancy, and my husband and I found out that we were expecting the weekend after Thanksgiving 2006. It was totally unexpected. I found out on a Sunday evening, so the Saturday night before the Sunday I found out, we had a party at our house, and my girlfriend and I went out to the liquor store for beer and Jager (God, do I miss those Jager Bombs!). I was complaining to her of feeling crampy, and just knew I was going to see good 'ol Aunt Flo the next day. Well, we partied like there was no tomorrow. I woke up Sunday morning feeling all nauseaus, and completely pooped. I thought "I must be dehydrated from all of the partying the night before." I basically stayed on the couch all day and drank water, although I didn't feel like crap...no headache, or hangover, just real thirsty and faint feeling. Later on that evening, around 6:30PM, I decided to get in the shower. I had an extra pregnancy test under the sink in our bathroom, and decided to take it out of boredom, and to get rid of it since I had it for a while. After peeing on it, and leaving it to sit on the counter for five minutes, I came back into the bathroom to find that the stick would change my life from there on out. It said "PREGNANT." I could not believe my eyes, and looked at my shocked face within my mirror...God, if only I had a picture to recap that expression I had on my face...priceless! I think I even pinched myself. I sat on my bed for a minute, and then decided to go out to the living room to tell my husband the news. He was sitting on the couch watching Cops, or some Wildest Police Video crap that he always likes to watch. By that point, I was literally convulsing and shaking with all kinds of mixed emotions...really not knowing how to feel at that point. I didn't even say anything to him...I just showed him the stick, with my eyes all bugging out and a hand over my mouth in shock, and next thing I know, he jumped up and gave me a big ass hug, and said "you're pregnant!!!" I guess, at that point, he was ready...I wasn't. I called my Mom right after we found out and told her the news. I was still in disbelief! I was like "this is too soon," or "what about all the partying I did?" I figured I'd let nature take its course, and that if the pregnancy was meant to happen, it was going to happen. Today, the rest is history! Read below and you'll see where we're at in time! I cannot wait to meet my future daughter and am glad God blessed me with such a healthy child! I wouldn't ask for me or my husband's lives to be any other way! Being pregnant definitely has its advantages (I won't say what...some advantages are too personal to share on here...the others, I just want my loved ones to keep on doing what they're doing ;0), but it sure does! Life is about to change and I'm in line for the ride of my life!
Here is the picture I took of my positive pregnancy test...this day changed my life as I always knew it... :0)
Picture of the little one at 9 weeks!
Here is a picture of Alyssa Marie's face at 22 weeks!
Here are more of Alyssa Marie's beautiful shots! What a beauty!
***Hey, does everyone know that our babies, born in 2007, will be born in The Year of the Golden Pig, according to the Chinese Zodiac and Chinese Folklore? This comes around only once every 600 years and children born during this time are said to lead very lucky, comfortable and prosperous lives. In fact, the birthrate in Korea is expected to go up by 10% this year because of this, which apparently is good since their birthrate has been flat in recent years. They came to this conclusion through calculations, using a combination of the Chinese zodiac and the yin and yang theory. Of course, there is some debate over the validity of all of this, but I just thought it was a fun little fact!
ME AT 14 WEEKS!!!
18 weeks (below).
Here is little old me at 18 weeks! Can't wait to meet my little one! The "growing pains" are really starting to hurt my sides and lower abdomen at this point. I can already feel the baby moving and have even seen it kick, or stretch, inside my stomach. My stomach protrudes out when the baby is doing its thing. It's like a muscle twitch! Very crazy!!! We find out the sex on the 22nd of March...next Thursday!!! YAY-E-YAY!!!
Me being my sweet, old, charming crackhead self on a Friday night after work! (18 weeks).
5 months pregnant (22 weeks) - 02 April 2007...6 more days till my 25th birthday!
Here is me at 5 months pregnant (22 weeks). Don't ya just love that "pregnacy glow?" All that LOVELY ACNE? It's Alyssa stealing her mother's beauty, as the old wives tale goes...
More pictures of me at 23 weeks...at work! Look at that belly!
Alyssa Marie's inside there moving around like she just don't care! :0)
Here is me and my husband - the DADDY to be - on our trip to Catalina Island. I was about 3 months pregnant in this picture. This is probably the last trip we'll have together, but upcoming trips with our first child will be just as fun, if not, better!!!
Here is Alyssa's bedroom. We spent ALL weekend cleaning, and cleaning, and cleaning in preparation to get ready for her arrival! Only three months left!
Here is a picture of Alyssa's changing table and the glider that I'm expecting to spend MANY nights in while nursing her! As you can see in the background, I collect shot glasses, and there is another full display case to the right of the one in view. Alyssa's room used to be my computer room/hang-out room...having a baby really does change your lifestyle...this is a realization that I am still getting used to... :0)
Here is a picture of me at 6 months (26 weeks). My angel/devil's faces on my tattoo are now starting to look like they are being sucked in by a vacuum due to the stretching of my stomach! Their faces look like they are sitting in a jet that is going mach speed, or something...pretty freaky, but I know it is for a good cause!
Here are the 6 month ultrasound pictures of Alyssa. The first picture is of her arm, raising hell like her mommy and daddy always do! The second picture is of her cute little face...the u/s technician noted that "mommy is feeding her very well" according to her chubby cheek you can see. The third picture is of our Alyssa already practicing to be a lady! Sitting so ladylike with her legs crossed inside of me...and for the final goody: the fourth picture is of Alyssa showing off her goods...well, there is not much that I can say about that picture. I think that the picture speaks for itself! She is a girl!
Here are the other sets of the ultrasound pictures from our 6 month session. These pictures show Alyssa's vital organs...her heart, her bladder and her stomach. The technician says that her organs are working top notch! Alyssa actually has a full bladder in the picture, which is very good. This indicates that her kidneys and liver are functioning as they should, and there are no blockages. The other pictures are of my not-so-shy future daughter showing off her goods once again, and the last picture is of her spine. Look at all those bones! She is as healthy as a Jenny Craig diet plan!
Here is a picture of the bassinette that Alyssa will soon be "sleeping" in. This will go in our bedroom next to our bed for the first couple of months until she is stable enough to sleep in her pretty crib!
This is my 7 month picture at 31 weeks. Next Saturday (June 9, 2007), I will be 32 weeks, 8 months, with only 57 days left to go until I meet my Alyssa! Time is flying by; yet, it seems like there is so much time left to go! I'm getting anxious to meet my little girl!
31 weeks - 7 months on June 4, 2007. The date somehow got moved back to February. My camera was running really low on batteries that day and I think the date reset itself, so I had to take this pictures quick style before the battery died on me!
Another picture of me at 31 weeks and 4 days. Alyssa is sitting really low inside my stomach right now, so I had to get another picture of her cramping my insides up. Notice I remembered to adjust the date to the correct date. WOW! I remembered something for once! :0)
Here is me and my fat boy, Sammy. Before my husband and I got pregnant with Alyssa, our kids were our two cats, Fiona and Sammy. Fiona is shy, she ran from the camera when we tried to get a picture of her. My fat boy is showing my stomach some love. It's weird how the cats can sense that "something" is inside your stomach, at least mine do. It's like they are anticipating her arrival, as are we!
Actually, here is a picture I found of my two "kids" before becoming pregnant with Alyssa. My fat boy Sammy, was just a tiny little old abandoned cat. Now, he's a cow, and eats everything in sight. My black cat, and lucky charm, Fiona, is just the most scardest thing you'll ever meet. She is very shy, timid, and cautious about everything she comes in contact with. She is the perfect definition of a "scaredy cat." Sammy, on the other hand, is adventurous, outgoing, and the complete opposite of Fiona. Okay, enough about my kitties...I'm just a little bored right now, as you can tell.......
8 month photo (36 weeks): Well, here is another lovely picture of me and Alyssa at 8 months, exactly 29 days left until her due date of August 4, 2007. I am SOOOOO ready for her to come out so I can hold her and meet her! My back was KILLING me in this picture, so that's why the smile might be a little forced looking!
MOMMY & DADDY UPDATES:
March 24, 2007 (21 weeks): We are finding out the sex of our child on Monday, the 26th! We are totally excited!!! My mom, mother-in-law, husband, and brother will all be there to share in the excitement and joy with us! Plus our mom's just want to see the baby via the u/s. Last night, I was watching tv, and my bubs started kicking and moving around everywhere. First, a couple of elbows on my right side, then the feet on the left hand side (I'm guessing...it could have been reversed)...I actually saw my stomach popping out again everytime bubs moved around! It's such a trip! Everytime bubs comes up to my abdomen, it gets hard, and I feel a lot of pressure. I guess this is normal...oh well...until later!
March 26, 2007 (still 21 weeks): Today, we went in to find the sex out, only we didn't. I was VERY upset. It was a complete miscommunication between the office and I. My original appointment was rescheduled to today, only it was for my OB Recheck...I could have had the u/s performed on the Thursday it was originally scheduled for. The office apologized because the nurse that called to reschedule did not make herself clear and lead me to believe that both appointments were cancelled...oh well...so, now, we have rescheduled the u/s for this Friday, and I'm excited again, but am anticipating another roadblock as this is the second time we've been let down by the office...
I was able to hear the heartbeat again, and it was very reassuring to hear, knowing that my little bubs is still "there." The nurse picked it up right away with her doppler. It was funny because since I prepared for the u/s this morning, I drank the required 32 oz. of water, so I was ready to explode once I got to the office. When the nurse asked me to leave my usual sample, I told her "Oh, I got a lot of sample I could leave for you," and she just started laughing! I guess that was the only funny part about this morning...the rest was such a mess. Furthermore, I am getting more and more excited with each passing day in anticipation of meeting my little one. I cannot wait to see what it looks like. Who's nose does he/she have? Who's toes and fingers does he/she have? All the little stuff new parents usually think about. Well, until Friday!!! The BIG day...hopefully... :0)
March 29, 2007 (22 weeks): Yesterday, my husband and I found out that we're expecting a BABY GIRL!!! Welcome Alyssa Marie!
April 25, 2007 (25 weeks): I had a recheck on Monday and my AFP results came back negative. I was sooooo relieved and happy to find out that I now can stop worrying if Alyssa might have any defects or disabilities. I know that sounds callous, but, what else can I say? Every mother wishes the best health and outcome for their unborn child. I've been feeling extremly tired and cramped lately as a result of Alyssa growing and my insides stretching. I actually stayed home from work yesterday, which I felt really bad about because I absolutely hate missing work, but I just woke up feeling like absolute and complete crap. It was just "one of those days." One of those days, where like everything was hurting on me. I mean, it literally hurt to blink. Everything was just really bothering me, body-wise yesterday, and coming in today was even a test. Yes, I'm sitting at work, with aches everywhere, but I love my work, and hate to miss it! We have our GTT next Tuesday morning, and I am again debating whether I want to take that day off. I have to fast before the test, and will probably end up feeling like crap, as usual, after the test. My boss is really nice and does whatever to help me out. The next appointment we have is the Rhogam test, which I doubt will come up positive, then the next appointment after that is hospital registration, which means the birth is almost here, and I FREAKING NERVOUS! I will have 99 days left as of this Thursday...good-bye three digit countdown, hello double-digit countdown. Lord, help me!
May 3, 2007 (27 weeks): I can't believe that I have exactly 2 months and 30 days left until this pregnancy is over! Time has flown by so fast! I went in for the GTT test on Tuesday morning, and will be getting my results back within five days, or so. I hope they turn up normal. I have been feeling Alyssa kick and punch, and doing whatever it is that she's doing inside there almost every day now. I love to feel her move inside of me...it's her little way of telling me "mommy, I'm here and I'm doing ok." It's a calming sensation. I'm very grateful that I still have not endured any stretch marks. The only calamity I've endured during this pregnancy is just terrible acne...I feel like I'm 15 and in high school again...that crap never stops though, so I might as well get used to it! My best friends are coming out to visit my husband and the baby, and we are totally excited for their arrival. It's been since last Summer that we've seen them. I can't wait to see my best friend's son. He will be a year old on June 13th, and has grown so much since the last time I saw him. It's going to be awesome! Well, I guess that's it for now. Till next time...
May 14, 2007 (28 weeks): So, I've been having horrible, horrible mid-lower back pains! They are absolutely bothersome! I can't even sit still at work as I'm always shifting positions to try and get comfortable. I have been walking the treadmill at work and at home whenever I get a chance to. Sometimes, the exercise helps to loosen up my tensed muscles. Last night, for Mother's Day dinner, we were at the Red Lobster, and Alyssa moved in such a way that I literally felt her butt and head on both sides of my stomach. I literally felt her little human body, and so did my husband and my brother. My brother is so very excited to become an Uncle soon. He loves to feel my stomach and gets real psyched out everytime he feels her kick and move, and whatnot! It's such a special feeling for me to share with him! I still have not received the results for my GTT (the Glucose test) screening, and am very curious to know how they came out. Kev and I have our next appointment on the 21st of this month, and will soon be signing up for the Lamaze classes and doing the hospital registration/tour. We have our first baby shower being held on the 21st of this month as well. My co-workers are throwing us one, and I'm very excited, although bummed, because most of my "special occasion" clothes DO NOT FIT anymore, as my giganto belly sticks out from underneath every single "nice" shirt I have. I'm tired of going out buying more clothes because I "need them to feel comfortable and look good" and using that as an excuse. I can't wait to get back to my normal size, and go back to wearing what I was wearing before! Ok, so it's Monday...I'm aloud a little venting time. I just wish I was at home in bed...mmmm...soooo comfortable. Well, that's enough for today. I'll update later, hopefully after I receive my GTT results...
May 16, 2007 (still 28 weeks): Today, I got my GTT results back from the doctor's and scored a 128 on the test, which is "normal," and below the radar for gestational diabetes; however, she did advise to me that my Iron supply was low, and explained that I now have to start taking an over-the-counter Iron supplement to replenish the Iron that my baby Alyssa is sucking from me! :0) My mother said she took Slow-Fe when she was pregnant with me, so it looks like I'm heading out to CVS after work to purchase me some Slow-Fe. The doctor also explained to me that the cause of a low Iron supply is also what has been making me feel so sluggish and tired lately. Great, now I have to take another pill on top of the prenatals I'm already taking, but in the long run, it's ALL worth it! :0)
May 22, 2007 (29 weeks): Yesterday, I had another recheck with my doctor. Everything was measuring in fine. Alyssa's heartbeat was clocked in at 140bpm, which is really good, or so the doc says. I don't have to do the Rhogam test, since I'm A+ blood type. We've scheduled our 4D appointment for June 5, 2007 at 12:00PM and I am very excited to see Alyssa again! This time, her facial features will be even more defined than we've ever seen before! I can't wait! The doctor has started to see me on three-week intervals now that I am approaching the 30-week mark. Time is flying by, and I am definitely on the downhill stretch now! I had my first baby shower given to me by my co-workers last night. It was a lot of fun! We got the stroller we wanted, and a lot of clothes. It was a lot of fun, and I can't wait until the family baby shower, which is really going to be a blast!
May 29, 2007 (30 weeks): I am officially 30 weeks and 3 days today! We are on the downhill slope from here on out! Only 10 more weeks! I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET MY LITTLE ALYSSA MARIE!!!
June 5, 2007 (31 weeks): Today, my husband, mother, mother-in-law, and brother went to the doctor's for the 4D ultrasound only Alyssa was not SHOWING HER FACE! Instead, we got to see her private parts...figures! The u/s technician said it looked like a cheeseburger. :0) My daughter is already proving to be difficult just like her mother! Our next 4D ultrasound is scheduled for next Tuesday, so hopefully we'll get some good shots of her face and everything else. If we do, I will post them up for show!
June 20, 2007 (33 weeks): Well, as you can see, we received good results of Alyssa's little chubby face during our 4D ultrasound session on June 12, 2007. She is such a cutie, and we cannot wait to meet her! We have our baby shower this Saturday, and I can't wait to be with all of our family and friends! My aunt and two cousins from Puerto Rico are flying in tomorrow for the shower, and I haven't seen them since my wedding two years ago, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them! This week at work HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Our email server has been down for three weeks, with intermittent connectivity. For three days already, since Monday, our users have literally been without email...I mean, c'mon, this is 2007...think about a work environment WITHOUT EMAIL! The users are going bezerk over here, and so far since Monday night on a regular 40-hour week, I've already worked 37 hours, and still have more work to do tonight! I'm the only here in the office that is most proficient at using Exchange 2003, so I'm bombarded with with having to fix the mail server...man, I'm getting so cross-eyed at looking at email..........I yelled at everyone in the office this morning because I was so frustrated! No one else is pregnant here, except for me, and I'm doing the bulk of the work (well, I have my buddy cantrBUMshunobish-pfpfpfBlono::nickname) here helping me. I swear, he is the ONLY one here that can make me laugh when I'm down, and that has been a lot lately at work, and it means a lot to me that I have such a good buddy like that at work to be in my corner. He will be at the shower this weekend, so if you've never met him, and you're coming to my shower, you'll finally meet my evil twin!
July 5, 2007 (36 weeks): Well, yesterday was the 4th of July, which not only meant it was Independence Day, but it meant that my husband and I were looking at exactly a month until Alyssa's due date. She's been moving more than ever inside of me, and I'm so excited, I can't wait to meet her! A lot has happened between now and my last "Mommy & Daddy" entry. We had our family baby shower on the 23rd of June, and boy, was I pooped by the time it finished. I was literally mumbling words at the end of the shower. It was so hot, and all the commotion of having my family and friends around really wore me out! By the end of the day, my feet looked like elephant's feet! I had cankles! All in all, the shower was AWESOME! We received a LOT of really nice gifts! I'm going to start my thank you cards this following week as I start Maternity Leave on Monday. I'll be off for 16 weeks to return to work November 5, 2007. A nice, long, break is what I really need! My husband and I finally got Alyssa's room finished yesterday! We can finally see the carpet again! I don't know how many times I've folded and refolded all of her clothes -- I'm really feeling that nesting instinct, and it's driving me nuts! I can't help it. I can be dead tired, but still want to be working on stuff in preparation for her arrival! We had our hospital tour last week, and have packed our hospital away bag just in case our little girl decides to come unexpectedly. We have our Lamaze classes next weekend (July 14-15, 2007), which by then, I will be 37 weeks. Everyone is telling us that we signed up for the class a little late, but hopefully we'll have time to complete those classes before our bundle of joy comes!
TO ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO READ THIS, Kevin and I would once again like to THANK YOU ALL for the beautiful gifts and all the help everyone gave us in such a wonderful and awesome baby shower! WE LOVE YOU ALL!
July 24, 2007 (38 weeks, 3 days): Great news! I had my doctor's appointment today and am 2cm dilated, with 50% effacement! I'm so excited! My doctor said that I should have an "easy" labor due to it already beginning! Can't wait until the real thing happens, as she said the birth of Alyssa could come any day now! I've been having a mixture of LOTS of Braxton Hicks contractions with LOTS of early labor contractions. Let me tell you - I cannot tell the difference between the two, as they both are bothersome as hell! Last weekend, my husband and I went and relaxed in the jacuzzi. Having heard all of the horror stories about pregnant women and jacuzzi's, I decided to sit half way in the spa. The water only came up to my belly button as I sat on the second step of the jacuzzi. It felt really nice and relaxing, and we got out about an hour after sitting in there. The next morning, I found it strange that Alyssa hadn't moved all morning...I'm talking about I hadn't felt her move for an hour and a half, so I started to get a little scared! I ALWAYS feel her moving in the morning, so not having felt her, I panicked a little bit. I called my Mom, and told her that I think that I "fried the baby." She started laughing at me telling me that it was not possible to "fry" your baby in the womb, and that a human body is a great temperature regulator. After hanging up with her, with God's good will, Alyssa moved around. I was soooo relieved! Then, last Saturday, I thought that THAT WAS THE NIGHT we were going to have our little Alyssa. I had the worst contractions and they were lasting for about 7 minutes. They would go away, and then come back in intervals of 7 minutes (at least that's what I thought was going on). My husband and I decided to lay in bed to watch t.v., and as soon as my head hit my pillow, I felt like I had to throw up dinner! After feeling totally uncomfortable for about half an hour, I threw up in the toilet, and then started feeling really gassy! I took two Tums, and then would you know it - I friggen farted soooo bad, I could have blown the roof off of our place! After my monster-contraction fart, I felt sooo much better that I just passed out in bed, and nothing happened after that! My husband thought it was soooo funny, and I was just like "awww man, she's still not coming!" So that was that, and I'm sitting here typing this at 38 weeks, 2cm dilated, 50% effacement... Alyssa is still in the head down position, uh-oh, gotta finish writing my update later as dinner is ready, and you know preggie chicks - we're ALWAYS hungry, so I need to eat now. Some good ass tri-tip!!! Will update later.
July 31, 2007 (39 weeks, 3 days): Well, I had another doctor's appointment today and found out that I am now 3cm, 60% effaced and at a -2 station. The doctor said she could feel the baby's head "right there" while doing the internal examination. She said the baby could come literally any day now; although, I have my own reservations on that statement as that is what she said when I was at my appointment last week. I feel like she will never come out! My best friend, baby Alyssa's auntie wrote this letter for her:ok...so I thought I said july 29 but apparently I said the 28...well neither happened...so I thought I'd write a letter to Alyssa...will you read it to her for me?My Precious Alyssa,It's time for you to come out of your mommy's tummy. It is no longer cute when you want to stick your foot up her esophagus, or put your toes between her ribs but rather painful. She doesn't like it when you play pat'a'cake with her bladder either. She really wants to play with you, face to face. I think that it's time that you join this world and show everyone what a beautiful creation your mommy and daddy made. Mommy is getting very anxious and you could seriously relieve that anxiety by just presenting yourself in a timely matter. Also, once you decide to make yourself known, there's no reason to hang on. You can come right out. Just give them time to get to the hospital so you aren't delivered by daddy in the car. Thanks for listening to my concerns.Love,Auntie AuttyThe letter was soooo cute from her! I absolutely love it and it surely did bring a smile to my face! Today, I have a really bad headache and feel like I am starting to get an ear ache. On top of all that, I feel like I have no energy, my wrists are hurting from carpal tunnel (maybe), my middle and lower back are KILLING me, and my neck is hurting like hell! Just the typical ailments of the last days of being pregnant. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET HERE ALYSSA????
August 4, 2007 (BABY IS HERE, but I would have been 40 weeks today): Well, since my water broke on Thursday night, I am proud to say that my daughter, Alyssa Marie, was born on August 2, 2007 at 10:38PM PST, and weighed in at 6lbs, 15oz., 19in. She scored an apgar score of 9 upon delivery! My labor was only 3 hours long! I was admitted to the hospital at 8:30PM, and delivered at 10:38PM. I was 8cm dilated, at a +2 station upon arrival to the hospital. She's absolutely beautiful, and my husband and I are so grateful that she is well and healthy! I will post pictures soon!!!
My Birth Story
So, my husband and I go to my parent's house on August 2, 2007 because my grandparent's are down visiting from Puerto Rico in anticipation of the arrival of their first great-grandchild, our firstborn, Alyssa Marie. That night was also the Dodgers vs. the Giants game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. My father, brother, husband, and grandfather were all going to the game that night. Mind you, my due date was August 4, 2007, so I was ready to have our baby at any give time, in any given place. We arrived at my parent's house around 4:45PM. I sat at the kitchen table and played Solitaire on the laptop while the guys had some brews before leaving for the game. All of a sudden, I started feeling tight cramps in my stomach. The first "cramp" went away. 8 minutes later, I had another one, and another one, and another one. I started thinking to myself "what if this is it," but then thought "no way...I'm probably just having false labor pains." After 5, or 6 of these "cramps," I started timing them. This was being done unbeknownst to my husband as I didn't know if these "cramps" I was feeling was the real thing. Around 5:46PM, I had endured about an hour of these painful cramps. My husband came to give me a kiss and told me that he was leaving for the game, and as he leaned down to give me a kiss, I whispered in his ear that I thought I had about 6-7 contractions within the hour, and that something might happen that night. I told him to keep his phone on him and check it frequently in case something did happen. Well, the guys left, so I was left to hang out with my mother and grandmother. I kept having these cramps, and my mother started becoming concerned, so she started jotting down the length of the so-called cramps, and the duration between each cramp. She made me eat dinner, and let me tell you, having to swallow down a dinner while enduring these cramps, was not the best! I'd rather have a cheese grater shave my nipples off then have to eat dinner while going through strong contractions again! While my mother noted that the cramps were becoming contractions, she noticed that the contractions were about a minute and a half in duration, eight minutes apart. This happened from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. We decided to go to the hospital for a checkup. I called my husband and told him of our plans. He started to freak out and wanted to come home. I told him I would go in to just get checked, and would keep him in the loop. Well, I walk out to my car to get something out of our suit case and find that I LOCKED MY DAMN KEYS IN THE CAR!!!! This was the only car my mother and I had to get to the hospital. My parents have a single cab truck, enough space to fit two people in, not three (counting my grandmother). We call AAA, and I walk back into the house because the contractions start getting worse and I had to sit down on the couch rather than on the brick wall outside. As soon as I sat my butt down on the living room couch, MY WATER BROKE! I swear, it felt like a zipper opened up in me and water just leaked everywhere. I was sitting on the couch with my grandmother, and she witnessed the whole thing! I ran to the bathroom trying to hold the leaking water from getting everywhere, and was yelling at my grandmother to get my Mom and tell her my water broke. My Mom was outside with her neighbor waiting for AAA to arrive, so she was unaware of the situation. My Mom came running in the house as I sat on the toilet with my feet in a pool of water. She helped to clean me up, and we called my husband and told him to get his butt back home as we were definitely going to the hospital. I, then, sat at the table again and attempted to play another game of Solitaire as most women, who are first-timers at being pregnant, are told to wait a little while after their water breaks to go to the hospital instead of just panicking and rushing over there in an instant. So, that's what I did. Within a couple of minutes, my water gushed again, and not just a little bit of water, a LOT of water! I ran to the bathroom again. This time, there was blood involved and I saw that I had lost my mucous plug as well. By this time, my husband and family were already on their way home. My mother and I got into my car after AAA had unlocked the door, and she drove me to the hospital. I rang the bell in the maternity ward and told the nurse that my water had broke and that I was in "really bad labor." By this point, my contractions were so bad, I was sweating and shaking, and literally felt like I was going to black out. The urge to push was SOOOOOOOOO BAD, I don't know how I managed to not push!!! After I was admitted, I was sent to the triage room where they hooked the toco belt up to me and monitored my contractions. I was first examined and was told that I was already 8cm dilated, and at a +2 station! I asked if I could still receive the epidural, and they said yes, amazingly, as I was told that the labor window for epidural administration was between 4-7cm dilation. Looks like I had endured the brunt of the labor at my mom's house playing Solitaire! After hearing that I was already 8cm dilated, I started to get scared! I was like "man, I could literally have this baby any minute, and my husband is out on the freeways somewhere!" So, in an exorcist-like voice, I asked my mom "where the f*** is Kevin at?" She called him and he was right up the street with the rest of my family, so I finally calmed down. Just as the anasthesiologist came in to prep me, my husband arrived, and I couldn't be happier to see him!!!! He held my hand during the epidural administration, and I didn't even twitch when the needle was inserted into my spine. After the epidural started kicking in, I was on Cloud 9, and within 20 minutes, had dilated to 10cm even! I was sent to my LDR room with my husband and the nurse. The two of them had me start pushing to get the baby's head to crown. Within a half an hour later, my doctor showed up. He prepped me, I pushed three more times, and BAM, my beautiful daughter, Alyssa Marie, was born at 10:38PM, weighing in at 6lbs, 15oz, and was 19in in length. I had an episiotomy and required 18 stitches! Nontheless, it was all worth it, and I find that my birth story is pretty hilarious! I mean, c'mon, how much more worse can it get when a pregnant lady is dealing with horrible contractions and finds out she locks her damn keys in the car! So, now we are home and are adjusting to the "new parenting" thing. My husband is a wonderful Daddy, and Alyssa is definitely Daddy's Little Girl! We love our daughter to death and couldn't be happier! I just love our little family and can't wait to have more children with my husband - but, next time, no baseball games, or any other events anytime before the next delivery! :-)

"Being pregnant is a blessing from God, and God is a blessing."
My name is Yvonne and I am a Network Administrator working for the Department of Defense - Lockheed Martin. Basically, I'm surrounded by computers and servers every day of my life. This is me and my husband's first pregnancy/child together, and we've loved every minute of it. I feel like I'm going to be completely nervous when it comes time to giving birth, but I know that if I put my fears and anxieties into God's Hands, everything will be just fine. We are not hoping for any specific gender...only that the baby is born healthy. We like the names Nathaniel Robert (Nathan, for short, if it is a boy), and Alyssa Marie (Lyssa, for short, if it is a girl). All in all, this pregnancy has been a little up and down for me, but I was expecting it to be this way. I have a lot of support from my husband, family and friends. Can't wait to meet my little one!
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. One day he asked God: "They tell me you're sending me to earth tomorrow but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"God replied: "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and take care of you""But tell me, here in heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy.""Your angel will sing for you and also smile for you everyday. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy.""And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk?""Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.""And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?""Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.""I heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?""Your angel will protect you even if it means risking its life."And at that moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard, and the child in a hurry asks softly: "Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.""Your angel's name is of no importance, you will call your angel:MommyFun Birthday FactsYour baby's birthstone will be Peridot or Jade (Married Happiness) Your baby's Astrological Sign will be Leo Your baby's Flower is Gladiola or Poppy (Orange, Red and Light Green) Your baby will be born in the Chinese Year of The Pig This time next year your baby will be 34 Weeks Old!
