Every child has his/her own personality. It's easy to worry though when your child doesn't follow what's written in the books. For example, when my daughter gets sick I give her gatorade instead of pedialyte. That drives my pediatrician crazy! But my daughter knows that she doesn't like pedialyte and it's one of those things where you choose your battles. FYI- pedialyte does taste nasty! Anyways... if your child loves tummy time- let him play! It seems as though you will be raising quite an independent child And maybe he'll have times when he wants to cuddle- I don't know. Maybe you can develop special times for you to hold him like before he naps. Best of luck to you!

No problem...every practice is different but at my docotr for the two month shot, they give the DPaT. That is one shot which includes diphtheria, pertussus, tetanus, polio (we dont do the oral polio vaccine), and Hep B. That one shot prevents 5 diseases which is much more than I got as a baby and I am only 25. So we got him that one shot at his 2 month check. 4 weeks later (when he is almost three months) , he will get the other 2 vaccinations that they try to give him at the two month check.. We did this because that would have totaled 3 shots, and seven diseases being protected against in those shots is a bit extreme for a 2 month old. So at three months he will ge tthe Hib and the PNEUMOCOCCAL which is just two more shots. The at four months he will get the DPat again and at 5 the other two. SO he is getting a shot every month which is hard, but I have researched some of the less common but still existent side effects of gettting too many shots, and to me , it is not worth the risk because everyone thinks it wont happen to them, but these stastics and stories of babies having difficulties with an excessive amount of vaccinations are coming from somewhere and I dont want to take the risk. GOod luck, and do whatever feels right for you and your baby:)

There is a great article in Parents magazine this month about why parents should vaccinate. I vaccinated Claire because the risk of her getting the diseases she is being vaccinated against is much higher than what may or may not get if I do vaccinate. There is no proven link between autism and vaccines but a child who is no vaccinated could very well get polio, measles, diptheria etc There were several cases in the US and Canada recently of children who weren't vaccinated getting these diseases because of contact with immigrants or people who have recently travled who were not vaccinated. Read the article in Parents magazine, its really lays it all out.

I am getting my child vaccinated. I had talked to a few doctors and all had said the same thing that there was no related link to autism. The chemical that was thought to trigger autism is no longer in the MMR shot. What I am doing though, for relief for the baby, is I am spreading out my shots... At her two month appointment she can get 4 shots. I am having them give her two then and I will go back a few weeks later to get the other two. It's really up to you as to whether you want to vaccinate. I work with children who have autism and some of them have never had any vaccinations so it just depends. (I hope this helped, if autism was your concern I am not sure.) Whatever you decide will be fine I am sure. It's good to get opinions, but don't let anyone criticize your decision whatever it may be-- you're the mommy, good luck!

I think its good to get the child vacines, i asked the health nurse here about autism and she said there is no related link to it. I got all faiths 3 of them at once and shes still the same. i rather see a child get the vacs then get polio and such from not getting it done, its really up to the parent, good luck

I debabted after much research on the vaccination issue up until the day he got his first vaccine. I did decide to vaccinate but I spread his vaccinations apart. I do think that it canbe harmful for an infant to get so many vaccinations in one day so I space them apart. Heis now about to turn three months and he is getting the other vaccinations that he wouldhave got at his two month check. I felt comfortbale with this and my sons behavior did not change at all after hsi first shot. The vaccination linked to Autism is the MMR and the doont give that until 12 months anyway. If you are interested in spacing them out, let me know and I will tell you how we did it. My doctor actually thought this was a good idea and supported it.

About the vaccinations, there is a lot of speculation about them being harmful. We decided to vaccinate because the things he is being vaccinated for have been PROVEN to be harmful not just speculated to be. I feel safer going with the facts.

I got my son vaccinated because I would worry either way. Like I wrote on the board before, I live in a big, international city and there are still things going around like pertussis. I also think that not vaccinating kids makes the problem of the spread of certain diseases worse. I was very nervous about vaccination. I read up about it a little and in my somewhat lay opinion I think that the concern for autism is overrated. There simply is not enough evidence to corroborate the claim. I am thinking genetics and environmental causes as the main culprits. Autism is a physical malformation of the vermis in the small brain, and I doubt that a vaccine would suddenly cause this malformation, but I could be wrong. And, then I also think that I and my partner were vaccinated and we did not have adverse effects as far as we know. Another reason is that in about a year my son will most likely have to go to daycare, and they will not accept him in daycare if he is not vaccinated.

I have decided to get Jamison his vaccines for a few reasons. 1. a doula I interviewed was anti vaccines and didn't vaccinate her two sons and one still got autism, so you have to wonder do vaccines really cause it. 2. I have read that a lot of autistic children have fragile X which is genetic and has nothing to do with vaccines and 3. A dear friend of mine who truly believes his nephew got autism from vaccines still decided to vaccinate his son despite the risks he believed were involved with it. He also said the he doesn't believe the first series of vaccines are the problem anyway. hope this helps.

Don't worry, my baby girl was the same way when she was a newborn. But now she clings on to me for dear life and when I want to put her down ont he floor she won't let me.LOL She is 14 months now. Once those teeths come in they want mommy all the time.

Thanks for writing! I know, I miss talking to all the girls on here too. How are you and your little guy doing?

mom2boy - Wednesday, 18 June
Jamison likes to be held but there are times where he fusses in my arms so I put him in his bouncer and he totally relaxes. He also likes it if I lay him down and play with him. Maybe your baby prefers to look at you face and make eye contact with you more than he wants you to hold him.

Pumping in a closet that sucks. My work has a lactation room which I have heard is really nice with hospital grade pumps.
