I am offically halfway through my pregnancy! I am so happy and excited. I have had 2 m/c's in the past, so my fiance Henry and I actually thought that we may never have kids. I'm so glad that isn't the case. Today we are celebrating our 10 yr anniversary of when we started dating. We go by the date of our first Homecoming dance, which was 10/10/1997. I was a highschool freshman! Now 10 years later we are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our first born child, and we're thrilled! We aren't planning a wedding as of right now, we are just going to prepare for baby. My family is sooo excited, especially my dad and step mom, Karen. They have bought us so many things so far, things we really need, and it helps tremendously. My friend Lizz is donating to me her son's crib, changing table, and dresser, since he now has a toddler bed. She's also throwing me my baby shower in January. I wouldn't know what to do without her! I know some of my other friends will pitch in as well. Henry's family are excited as well. His little sister is hoping for a girl, whilst his mother is hoping for a boy. Either way we will all be thrilled, but I am thinking PINK! Henry's mom stopped by last night for a quick visit, and she patted my tummy and said "Hello little baby!" It was sweet. This is going to be her first grandchild, and also my parents first grandchild. So far I have had one u/s back when I was about 16 1/2 weeks. The baby looked great, all moving around, waving his/her little arms and legs. It was so adorable. I have another one scheduled for 10/25 to find out if it's a boy or girl, I cannot wait. The only thing we could determine from the last u/s pictures was that the baby has daddy's head shape! lol

I have had a few cravings so far, like sweets. I really need to steer clear of so many sweets, so now when I really want chocolate cake, I eat sweetened cereal instead. I also have been enjoying cheese and crackers, and I LOVE fruit! I crave friut and milk, which I need alot of anyways, so that's a good thing, right? :) I feel the baby move now and then especially around mealtime. He/she sometimes dances all around in there, like there's a party going on, and alot of the time I don't feel a thing, but I know he/she is in there!

I pee a gazillion times a day, but I guess that's normal when you're pregnant, and you're drinking 60oz of water a day. Most of that is while I'm at work, so everyone gets to see me trapse back and forth to the ladies room all day. Since I am a bigger girl, at first I'm sure they had no idea that I was peeing alot because I'm pregnant, who knows what they thought the deal was! I am in an office located inside another store, so it's not like I'm going to tell the people that work at the store that I'm preggers, they will just have to figure that out for themselves! Well I will write more at a later date, probably after I get my next sonogram and I can tell everyone the baby's gender!

10/25/2007

Yea, I finally got my u/s today and we found out it is a little girl! We are so happy and excited. We kinda knew all along, parents instinct I guess. I'm just so glad we finally can say "she" instead of "it" or "the baby". Her name will be Sydnie Marie. She was showing off her little girlie parts so we know for sure and have a picture to prove it! lol At first when we got there she was moving all over the place and the u/s tech got a good look at her, then she started falling asleep while she was trying to take measurements, etc. so she shook my belly a little bit to wake her up. It was getting me beat up, but I didn't mind, I love feeling her move. She was so stubborn, she wouln't move off of her back. The tech wanted a better look at the spine, so she had me move on my sides, and get up to go pee. It was a good thing because I really needed to pee, and Sydnie was stepping all over my bladder. Finally she got all the measurements she needed and told me Sydnie weighs one pound on the nose.

I feel her move around ALOT now. A few weeks ago I was wondering if I would ever feel anything, but now I do all the time. It's a great feeling, knowing everyting is okay and that the baby is healthy. I am so relieved to have made it this far, and I just can't wait to hold her in my arms. She is going to be daddy's little princess, uh oh, watch out!

I'm still craving milk and fruit all the time, and cheese and crackers are a favorite snack. Lately even though it sounds so cliche', I love pickles! Sweet pickles, dill pickles, don't matter, just give 'em to me! lol I think kosher spears are the best. Well it's time to find something to snack on I think. I'll update more after my next appt. with the midwife. (Halloween)

Had another appt with the midwife today. Everything looks good, my blood pressure was 122/70, but unfortunately I have put on 5 lbs. this month! OMG! :( Oh well, that's 20lbs so far...ugh... Lets just say I am going to diet my ass off after Sydnie is born! I got the results of my 3 hr glucose test and they were perfectly normal, so so far no sign of GD! Whew! That made my day. Then we got to listen to little Sydnie's heartbeat, in the 140's. It gets lower and lower everyime, I hope that's normal. At first u/s it was 165, then last check up it was 150, now in 140's. It sounded really strong though. My midwife didn't seem concerned, so we're good. Also, she measured my uterus, and I am measuring 24 weeks! So that means my original theory is right, my due date is somewhere in between what my last period says and what my first u/s said. I believe this little girl is gonna come a few days early, but you never know. Sometimes the first born takes her sweet time and comes when they feel like it! So we'll see. I let my midwife know that I made a dentist appt. for this Friday. I found out they actually have dentist letters for pregnancy patients to give to the dentist with info about what medications I can take and a number to call if they have any questions. I thought that was really convienient! I am glad I mentioned it to her. I just HAVE to get to a dentist. My teeth are a mess. I have two really bad teeth on both sides on my bottom row, making it impossible to enjoy eating anything hot or cold. I have been taking Tylenol and using Orajel like they are gonna stop making it or something. I have just been in terrible pain. I feel bad for taking medicine, but at night it hurts so bad all I can do is sit and cry my eyes out. So hopefully the dentist will fix me right up, and I won't have to cry anymore. :)

11/02/2007

Went to dentist today and got that bad tooth pulled! They didn't want to do a whole lot for me cuz I'm preggers, they didn't even prescribe me anything, so I went and bought me some more Tylenol. It's crazy that the tooth isn't there anymore. So I have been eating yogurt and applesauce, for dinner I will have some tomato soup, maybe a grilled cheese if I can handle it..lol It ended up being the tooth I had a root canal done on 4 years ago. The dentist shook his head and told me that who ever did that root canal ripped me off, it should have never givin me any pain. I believe it too, because I knew that dentist was shitty, but it was the only place I could go to at the time. At least this dentist knew what the hell he was doing and now I feel much better. The novacaine hasn't worn off yet, but I am prepared for when it does. Hopefully :) But now I am sooooo sleepy. I'm at work too...ugh....gotta make it to 7...gotta make it to 7.

11/27/2007

Well my 25th birthday passed a little over a week ago, and Henry made me (and Sydnie..lol) steak dinner. It was awesome, he's such a good cook. Thanksgiving came soon after and it was a pretty busy time to say the least! First off, the nesting told me I had to make 3 cheesecakes, one for my house, one for the MIL, and one for my mom. They were a huge hit at each house and all three barely made it to Friday, I am told that I must make those every year. No biggie, I love them too and they are incredibly easy to make. Henry decided to eat dinner with his mom this year, because it had been quite a few years since he went to that, I went to my mom's since I hadn't been there for Thanksgiving in years as well. Dinner was delicious, my mom and my step gramma from Georgia did all the cooking. They made mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn casserole (yum), buttered noodles, yams with marshmellow, rolls, and turkey of course. There were pies galore, including pumpkin, and pecan, a gingerbread, and my cheesecake, which was gone before anything else, I was proud of myself. lol Everything was mouth watering, unfortunately I only had room for one plate, and when I got hungry later there was nothing left ;( my mom had like 20 people over so it was no surprise.

What did come as a surprise was what happened to my dad! He suffered a mild heart attack on the night before. He had to have surgery. They cut him open and put a stint in his aorta because that's where the blockage was. He kept saying he ruined Thanksgiving, but we all said it's not like he did it on purpose afterall, who wants to have a heart attack? So I spent half of my Thanksgiving visiting him in the hospital. They let him out on Saturday night and I went over to his house for a few hours last night after work. You'd never know he had an attack by looking at him, he looked really good. He has to quit smoking and go on a special diet. I know he's going thru hell trying to quit smoking, he was a 2 pack a day smoker, but he's doing really well, and my step mom quit too, in support of him. Now they are eating all the time..lol But at least my dad is trying to eat heart healthy and diabetic friendly foods. Last night he was eating yogurt and turkey salad on crackers. I'm so glad my dad is okay. Tomorrow I have an appt with the midwife, so I will write about that later.

11/28/2007

Had an 8:30am appt. with the midwife today. I am measuring 28cm, and the h/b was in the high 140's. We talked a little about choosing a pediatrician, and taking childbirth classes. She gave me a pamphlet of pediatricians' names and numbers, and a number to call to schedule the childbirth class. I am looking forward to that..lol I had another glucose test today, I hope it comes back as good as the 3 hr. one did, or else I will have to repeat the 3 hr. test :( Now here's the bad news! I have gained 8 lbs since last month, so she told me I need to switch to fat free or skim milk, and to eat more fresh fruits and veggies. I know the weight gain has to do with my birthday cake and Thanksgiving, and the sweets that go along with that. That puts me at a total of 28lbs gained since I got pregnant, and I need to be more careful of what I eat, or at least stay away from sweets, they are my downfall. I was really depressed hearing that I just gained 2lbs a week for a month, and I decided I need to start exercising more. The job I have consists of me sitting at a desk all day, and there is NO room to move in here at all...it sucks. I used to be able to walk to work, but they transfered me to this dump, and I can no longer even get that little bit of exercise. It's freezing cold outside now, but I am just going to have to deal with it, and start taking walks in the evenings after work. Wish me luck, hopefully I can lose some weight along with not gaining anymore, because trhe midwife says I am at the max in weight gain, they don't want you to gain more than 30lbs, and I am very close to that with 3 more months still left to go.

12/04/2007

Today I am 28 weeks along, and I start my third trimester! This has gone by so fast yet slow at the same time. It's hard to believe that this time next year I will have a 9 month old little girl, probably getting Christmas pictures taken...awww. She is going to be gorgeous, I can't wait to meet her. Her daddy went out and bought a few things for her last night. Some bibs that say "I love my Gramma" "I love my Auntie....mommy and daddy...oh and some pacifiers that say "I love my daddy" and a pink blankie with the silky edges and butterflies... he is soooo excited..it makes me wanna cry. I love him so much and our baby girl is such a blessing to us. She will make us a whole family. I feel like she is one of the most looked forward to babies ever with all the people that are counting the days until she arrives. I'm sure all parents feel that way about their babies, especially their first born. She is going to make grandparents out of both of our sets of parents for the first time. She is definately making out good in the grandparent department. On my side she'll have Grampa (my dad) and Gramma Karen (my stepmom), Gramma (my mom) and Grampa Mark (my stepdad), and Auntie Sue (my aunt that Henry and I live with) to spoil her rotten, and she'll have her gramma that's Henry's mom. She is going to be a very lucky little girl indeed. I now visit the midwife every 2 weeks, and my next appt. is December 12th. I hope that somehow someway I will get one more u/s before this is all over, I want to see her again so bad. 12 more weeks is a long time, but a short time too...

I want to see if she will have curly hair, and lots of it, or will she be a bald baby? lol I want to see if she is gonna have brown eyes like her daddy, or light colored eyes like her mama? Will she be a cuddly baby? Will she have a sence of humor and smile and giggle alot? We both have a million questions and wonders about our little girl, but one thing is for sure, she has a TON of LOVE waiting for her in this crazy world.

12/18/2007

Well despite swollen feet and snowy weather (and crowds and crowds of f*ckin' people!!) I am just about done with my Christmas shopping this year. I have to say it is rather nice having a baby in my womb this winter, I am never cold!

I got good news today, I passed my second 3 hr glucose test again! Yay! I had to take another one because my one hour one came back high again....it was a pain in the ass sitting in that office for 3 hours again, but I made it. I am 30 weeks pregnant today, only 10 more weeks left. It's really flying by. I am going over to Lizz's house tonight to make out the baby shower invitations, that's coming up January 20th, so I need to get those invitations in the mail ASAP.

Henry and I are really starting to get excited, the fact that we are going to have a little girl is becoming more of a reality to us every day. This weekend we will be starting the nursery, we are just going with basic pink paint with white trim, but we will add sparkles into the paint for a special kick. Speaking of kicks, this little girl has been moving more and more and I love it. Especially in the morning when we are laying in bed and Henry has his arm around my belly, she kicks at him, and it's so cute.

I get one more ultrasound on Jan. 2nd to check to make sure she's growing properly, and to make sure my fluid levels are good. My MIL seems to think I am having twins because I am so huge. I think they would have discovered that by now, but you never know! lol This would be one more chance to see! Oh I hope it's just the one!! I am barely prepared for her, let alone another one hidin' in there. That would be an interesting story for the family history though! My next midwife appt. is the day after Christmas so

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

01/02/2008

Christmas and New Years was great this year! Went to all the parents' houses for Christmas Eve and Christmas, and on New Years' Eve Henry and I threw a very nice party. The doctors appts are going well, and I had what was probably the last ultrasound today. Our little princess weighs 4lbs 1oz and still looks just like her daddy. Hooray for good genes. lol I am 32 weeks 1 day along, and wow, I am starting to get kinda scared about labor. I know it's gonna hurt, and I know I will eventually get an epidural, I just have the normal fears about going into labor that I am sure all first time moms have. I can't believe I am going to have a baby next month! Her nursery s't even ready yet! :( But it will be soon....gotta pick up some paint. We're going with pink sparkley paint my aunt is getting from her work Home Depot. I can't wait for my baby shower, January 20th, I hope I get everything I need. She is on her way.....fast.

01/10/2008

Today I am 33 weeks and 2 days prego. I had an appt with the midwife yesterday, and we went over the ultrasound info. She weighed 4lbs 2oz, and she is in the 47th percentile meaning she's right in the middle, or normal size. Yay! Also my fluid levels were normal, 23. Anything from 5-25 is normal, but my midwife says she has some patients who's levels are in the 40's. Basically that means they are very swollen with alot of amniotic fluid and are very uncomfortable. She is still in the transverse position meaning she is laying sideways across my belly. She should move to the head down position in the next few weeks, and just to make sure I get ANOTHER ultrasound in 3 weeks. I am so lucky, I know alot of pregos only get one or two but I get four! If by then she still hasn't moved right, the midwife will have to adjust her by hand, by pushing her and my belly around. I hope she isn't too stubborn, but let's face it, she's me and Henry's baby afterall....lol

My baby shower is next weekend, the 20th. I am so excited to see my friends and family and have a nice and fun time. I was thinking about taking all her u/s pics and putting them up on a poster so everyone can see them. We are gonna play games and eat sloppy joes, and then I will open the baby gifts. I don't wanna sound greedy, but I hope I get alot of stuff. I have invited around 30 or so people, and the more stuff I get, the less I have to buy, and the happier my little girl will be. She's gonna be so stinkin' spoiled....lol

I swear, everyday at work customers are shocked at my very pregnant state. They all ask things along the lines of "When are you due hunny? Yesterday?" I know I am huge, but I was a big girl before I got pregnant. They all seem to think I am not going to make it until the end of February. As long as I get through my baby shower and get the nursury done she can come when ever she wants from then on. We will be ready. I need to get a bag ready for me and the baby...

01/21/2008

Yesterday was my baby shower!! It was beautiful! My friend Lizz booked it in this clubhouse inside Meadowbrook Estates here in my town. The decorations, the baloons, the room itself was gorgeous. It was a dining room with a kitchen on the side and there was a living room area with a nice couch and loveseat and television. I opened all my gifts on that couch so I was very comfy! I recieved so many nice things. Alot of clothes, my little girl is going to be so styilish..lol. A friend of mine works at Gymboree, a children's clothing store in the mall. She had to have gotten Sydnie 15 outfits by herself. I also got alot of hooded towels and washcloths, blankies, and bibs. My MIL was a lifesaver and bought a bottle warmer, my mom got her a nice carseat, my dad and Karen got us clothes, a swing, a stroller, a playpen, a playmat and a bassinet. I pretty much got all the big things we're going to need, mi us a few which we can always pick up later. We did get a giftcard for Meijer's that we will probably either put towards a carrier, or we might just buy her bath tub with it. It took me 2 hours to sort thru everything I recieved and to put it all in some kind of order. The shower was a big hit, almost everyone invited attended. We played a few games. Purse Scavenger Hunt, Word Scramble, Guess how many squares of TP fits around Tara, puttng a balloon under your shirt and tieing your shoes, and name under the plate. The food was good, we ate sloppy joes and cheesepotatoes and there was a veggie tray, along with punch, m&m's, pastel mints, gardettos, and peanuts. The cake was made by Lizz'a friend Emily and it was a pink and purple popple, to go along with our pink and purple theme. Now all that's left to do is wait for Sydnie...oh and we still need to paint her room!!! My next dr. appt is this Wednwsday. I bet I have gained 5 more lbs...ugh. I have another u/s on the 31st to make sure she is getting in postion, I hope she is, stubborn little thing...I love her!

01/31/2008

Well I had what was probably the last u/s today. My baby is weighing 7lbs already! Yikes! I still have 3 weeks to go supposedly. She is gonna be a heffa...lol I am thinking maybe if I don't have her by 38 weeks I could get induced. I don't want her to get too big, and I think my midwife will feel the same...I will talk to her about it Feb 6th, my next appt. I am hoping then she will check for labor progression. I have been feeling more and more intense Braxton Hicks lately. She is engaged, in the head down position, all ready to go! I think she is one smart cookie. The u/s tech said it looked like she had some hair on her head! I am excited to see what kind of hair she is going to have. I am white and her daddy is black and you just never know! Her dad was bald when he was born, I on the other hand, was born with almost enough hair to make a ponytail! If she comes out with alot of hair I will know what was up with all that heartburn I get!

All we really got to see today was that she is still defintely a girl, and that she has hair. The only pics we got were some of her fingers and toes. She had her hands covering her face! We have lots of other older pics of her face, but still. She is stubborn, and she gets it from both sides!

It is getting next to impossible to sleep anymore. On my back I feel like I am being crushed by a baby (well technically I am!) and on my sides is okay until my hands start hurting. They hurt alot all the time and I can barely make fists with them. I had carpal tunnel beore I got pregnant and now that there is so much sweeling involved in pregnancy it go much much worse. I am hoping it will go back to how it used to be before I got prego. At least then I could make fists and my fingers didn't lock up, and the pain wasn't always there no matter what. Luckily I don't need but a couple fingrs to type. I never did learn the "right way" to type, but I can still type pretty fast. Sorta off topic but...yeah the sleeping. I can't. Between tossing and turning, painful hands, and peeing about 4 times per night I am lucky to get 4 solid hours of sleep. I guess this is my body's way of preparing me for whe Sydnie Marie gets here and nobody's gonna sleep! lol I hope she's not TOO whiny....babies do what they do though. I hop she's a happy baby. Sme friends of ours have the most perfect baby. She hardly ever cries and she smiles and giggles ALOT. Even around strangers, and she remembers you even if she hasn't seen you in a while. She will be walkng soon if she's not already. Gnna end this entry on that note. Sydnie, we're excidedly awaiting your arrival! Any day now! My order for some bras, panties, and robe and slippers came in today, and I am packing me and the baby's bags tonight. Makes it all the more official, I am having a baby!!!!!!!!!

02/14/2008

Valentine's Day

What a lovely day, I got paid, had lunch with my loving hubby Henry, got some chocolates, and tonight we are going out to a nice dinner, just the two of us. Pretty soon "just the two of us" will be hard to accomplish! Very soon. I am working until 7pm tonight so we are going to dinner around 8pm. At 2pm I get a sort of frantic phone call from Henry stating that my midife needed me to call her, they had scheduled me ANOTHER u/s. This one will make 5! Anyhoo, at my last u/s two weeks ago Sydnie weighed 7lbs 2oz, pretty big for 36 weeks. So I am thinking since I was just there (at the midwives) yesterday and nothing was said about it, that today they pulled their heads out of their asses and realized that maybe, just maybe, they WERE off on the due date afterall, and maybe, just maybe I knew what I was talking about all along. I know for a fact when my LMP was, and going by that date, my due date should be February 16th. They moved it to the 26th because at her first u/s she measured a little small, but it seems she has more than caught up, don't ya think?? So my u/s is scheduled for the 20th at 3:15pm. at the hospital. What I am thinkng (and hoping and praying) is that they are going to take a look at Sydnie, see that she is plenty big, and likey to be completely "cooked", and admit me for induction. Things never go that easily for me though. It's probable that they will say she's ready, but they might make me wait until the weekend to be induced. Who knows. Maybe I will start my leave a few days early, we'll see. Let's cross our fingers and toes that we will get to meet our Sydnie in a week or less!!

02/23/2008

Well the short version is that I'm still pregnant! The good news is that I have only 3 days until my due date, this is my last day of work, and the nursury is completely finished! I picked out Care Bears as the theme. The crib bedding and mobile is care bears, and we bought these care bear wall decals. Everything looks absolutely adorable. Her daddy and I can't seem to stay out of her room. I go in there all the time just to look around at all her stuff, just wishing she was here! At the u/s on 02/20 Sydnie measured 8lbs 3oz!! That is how much I weighed at birth, so she is going to be even bigger than I was. My midwife didn't say anything about induction, in fact I don't even see her until a day after my due date. I guess if I haven't had her by then, we'll talk. I never thought I would make it this far. I was only a fingertip dialated and my cervix was thin, but that's it. Not much progress, but it's something. I was getting cramps and stuff, but they went away and I don't get them as much anymore. I wish she would hurry up! I am so uncomfortable, but also I cannot wait to meet my lil girl and hold her and dress her and feed her...and change her little diaper..lol. I just can't wait to be a mom!! Last night her daddy and I went out and bought a few more sleep and plays, a pad for her changing table, a kit with a bulb aspirator, thermometer, and medicine dropper. I also picked up some multi purpose Desitin, some cloth diapers for burp rags, and a really nice bath tub with a soft sling for newly borns, and it even has a shower and the shower is detatchable. It also has a cencor that shows if the water temp changes. We are all set for baby! She just needs to finish doing her hair and make an arrival!!
