I am 33 and a mother of one 13 year old girl and a stepmother to a 17 year old boy. I just recently got married to the love of my life! We met online actually and it has been an amazing year. We were still contemplating whether or not to have any children since ours are almost full grown. I was also diagnosed with PCOS after the birth of my daughter and thought that it was going to be very hard for me to conceive naturally now after all these years. I decided to make an appointment with a fertility specialist in September of 2007 just in case and was given a date 6 months in advance, March 20th, 2008. Well, as luck would have it, we conceived on January 5th, 2008 against the odds. This was most definitely a New Years throw caution to the wind drunken fun baby making conception. I guess those little swimmers can live for 5 days after all! So now my specialist appointment is not for infertility but for pregnancy... so funny!

We were very surprised to say the least. I was a tiny bit afraid of how my husband would react since he was still unsure of whether he wanted more children at that point. But as the surprises have been plentiful in my life, so was his reaction. He was instantly ecstatic and rushed home to run over to his parents house and let them in on the news immediately. We found out on Jan 15, 2008 so I was not very far along but he couldn't wait a minute. Its funny how you can be unsure of something but when it is presented to you as a reality and not a hypothetical, your feelings on the subject take a drastic change.

Time seems to be going by very slowly for me with this pregnancy but I guess the first trimester does that (my husband likes to refer to them as "semesters" and i wouldn't be surprised if he tries to throw me graduation parties!). We are all very happy and just cant wait to see our little addition to the family. My husband naturally wants a girl as he has a son but as for me, I would be happy with either. A boy would be nice, since I don't have the experience raising one but at the same time, a little girl would be just as great as I already have the experience.

Okay.. well I have finally decided to do an update. I haven `t really had much to say except complaining so I have opted not to write anything to save myself from sounding whinny..lol. But if I don `t complain then I really have nothing at all for an update..haha. I am finally in the second trimester!!!! Yay.. and I thought that I was gonna miraculously wake up one morning and I would have boundless energy but..ah that didnt happen so I am still waiting for the energy fairy to come and visit! I have noticed that if I take the pretty pink pill right in the morning as soon as I wake up then I have no problem with it. But... if i forget and take it in the afternoon then I am sick for the rest of the day! I still haven `t felt any real movement, except for maybe a few flutters that I cannot with certainty say was baby and not gas..lol. I found out at my last U/S that not only do I have an anterior placenta but it is also very low and considered marginal for placenta previa. The tech said that since it was early there was a good chance that it would move up! Lets hope it does although I am not entirely put off by a c section since my daughter `s birth was extremely traumatizing. Thats one birth story that I will spare first time moms. I promised my Husband that we wouldn `t find out the sex of the baby but now I am having a change of heart after walking by all the baby stuff and realizing that I will not be able to buy anything until after the baby is born and I was a little saddened by that realization : `( I talked to him about it and he giggled at me and said he would think about it... so not fair. If any of you ladies have the inside scoop on spousal manipulation I would be ever so grateful in hearing all the tricks... I am newly married and havent yet mastered that.. I did master boyfriend and fiance manipulation..lol.. but I am only a novice wife of 3 weeks and have much to learn..lol well... thats all for now and hope you all have a great prego weekend!!!

Okay... so I `m liking the update thing..lol.. so I forgot to mention..I went to Shoppers ( pharmacy and well just about everything else too!) today and decided that enough was enough... I am gonna pamper myself to some much needed skin care products.. i have been skimping on buying all my beauty products because we are trying to recover from the wedding... oh and if i can give any of you ladies a little advise.. if you are not married yet and plan on have your wedding soon... do not .. i repeat do not under any circumstance have OPEN BAR!... we severely underestimated our attendees and assumed that having a very intimate wedding from noon to 4 would make our bar tab very affordable with only about 38 adults... we were very wrong.. the bar tab was more than the meal!!!!! thats right people.. never underestimate the lure of free alcohol... it is like a moth to a flame...lol anyway... i said thats it and i bought a ton of facial pampering products.. im tired of my skin looking scaly and blemishy.. if i cant get the pregnancy glow naturally (i just know its a girl and she is stealing my thunder...lol) then i am going to physically induce it!!!! Anyway.. my face has been thanking me for hours.. it felt like i was at a spa... I highly recommend sneaking out while the hubby is at work and pampering yourself to some much needed product!!!! who doesn't want their face to feel like it was just gift wrapped in silk???

oh yeah.. i figure since I just advised you all to sneak out and pamper yourself I at least owe you a defense tatic.. when hubby approaches you and asks you what the huge purchase at a pharmacy could possibly be for... lovingly grab his hands and give him the doe eyes while explaining ` I have been worried about you sweetie.. I havent really been keeping up with my wifely duties with all the fatigue from pregnancy so I talked to the doctor about it and he suggested some natural remedies that would increase my libido and also be safe for the baby! `.. you can watch his face light up and he will walk away feeling like he has hit the jackpot... but he will be back in a month looking at you asking you why the organic thing a mabob didnt work??? then and only then can you give him the `are you serious? you didnt actually think that was gonna work did you? ` snear.. and he will walk away again with the face of a broken gambler... hahahahhahah (evil laugh)... omg.. I am the master manipulator!!! lol.. what?.. we didnt get married to have psychological fun and stimulation?... I kid I kid!

Well I `m not feeling so hot today...I am getting the worst headaches and my abdomen is achy, my emotions are getting the better of me.. baby must be increasing my hormone dosage... lol. I had a talk with my husband about finding out the sex of the baby... he told me that he would give me an answer on Sunday... well Sunday came and went and there was no answer from him..of course this really upset me.. lol.. then today i gave him my 100 reasons why we should find out the sex and he listened to all of them .. then he gave me his one.. his only one... his deep desire to have that once in a lifetime bonding moment between us and only us after we hear the baby cry for the first time and the world has stopped for just a moment and then just when we thought we couldnt climb any higher on cloud 9 they will announce what the sex is and we will come back to reality for a brief moment and realize that there was still more excitement in store for us! He says that if he could pay for that moment he would gladly so that we could both be happy and we would find out before birth but as of right now.. there is nothing that will compare to the awe and wonder of finding out at the moment of birth.... where did i find this man?Now I am deeply touched by his sensitive and tender side and yet at the same time... upset that he was able to take one reason that I thought was self serving on his part and turn it into being the most amazing heart touching explanation so that all of my thousand reasons for wanting to find out before hand seem so insignificant and petty... lol... im also a little jealous of his gift of persuasion... so now all these hormones are making me side with him... ohhhhhhhI do think that finding out would help much more in preparing and at the same time I would love to find out with him the day our baby is born ... so I am torn between wanting to prepare and make sure all is okay so that I am not stressed after baby comes and wanting to please him and give him that bonding moment he craves.So ladies.. I appeal to you to tell me your stories... finding out before and finding out at birth and if any of you at one point did one of each I would be happy to hear which one you preferred! Or if you would change things now after your decision?
