My husband, Ricky, and I have been married since June 2006. The story of our little one is quite ironic since I had gone to the dr. to discuss fertility issues and was preggo during that meeting without even knowing it. We have our big ultrasound on September 5th and are crossing our fingers for a girl, but will be ecstatic no matter what it is.

Monday, August 20 (18 weeks 5 days)

Today we received our heartbeat doppler! I have already used it and am so excited that I get to hear the baby whenever I want. My husband hasn't been able to feel it kick yet, so this is the only way he has really been able to connect (other than rubbing and talking to the belly).

Wednesday, Oct. 10 (26 w 3 d)

Half of my page got erased, so I will try to update. We found out that we are having a girl and she has been moving like crazy! We finally heard the results from the quad-screen and everything looks good so far. Had a d/a on Friday and apparently I am gaining too much weight. 21 pounds so far. I don't know what to do about it b/c I am starving all the time! Probably would help if I ate fruits & veggies rather than cap'n crunch and fudge rounds! Anyways, our next d/a is on Nov. 9th and I have to take the gestational diabetes test then, so I am already nervous. After that appt., we move into the every 2 week appointments! Can't believe we are getting that close! Yay baby girl! We also are having a 3-D ultrasound...b-day present to myself since we didn't get any pics at our last ultrasound. The dr. said we wouldn't have another unless complications arise, so I scheduled this 3-D with a separate company. Can't wait til Oct. 19!

November 11 (31 weeks today)

It's been a good minute since I've updated. Had a little scare on Nov 7th after a very minor car accident. I got rear-ended, but luckily it was during stop n go traffic so it didn't even do any damage to the baby, me, or the car! I went on to my conference and as I was sitting there not paying attention to the speaker, I decided I needed to at least let my dr's know about the accident. They made me go to Labor & Delivery just to monitored b/c that's their standard procedure regardless of how intense the wreck is. I had no idea that I was going to be there for 10 1/2 hours. We did get an updated ultrasound which was very exciting. Addison is measuring perfectly on time everywhere except for her belly. Apparently that is extra large! Oops mom's fault! She is weighing in at 3 lbs 10 ozs (give or take 10 ozs so they said). Went on the 9th and had my gestational diabetes test. I will hopefully not hear anything back from that, meaning that I passed. If I didn't pass, I should hear tomorrow. I also had an internal exam and everything "felt" good. I have not started any of the labor process thank goodness!

What else? We've had 4 showers so far and gotten lots of stuff. I am a bit disappointed in the turn out for my "friends" shower. I expected way more people to show up, so that was a bit of a reality check. I invited about 40 people and 6 showed up. I think I new about 7 ppl who weren't going to be able to make it and that is all that ever RSVP'd. We still had a good time and ended up getting lots of stuff. I have one more shower to go at my work, which will be Thursday (Nov 15th). I am ready for Addy to be here. I love my job, but just don't feel that into it these days b/c i am anxiously awaiting and counting down until she's here. That's really all for now. I'll update after this last shower.

December 1 (34 weeks tomorrow!)

Well, I have had my gestational diabetes test and never did get the dreaded phone call from the doctor, which means I don't have GD!! Yay! I thought I would definitely have to take the 3 hour test, but I don't! I have my next dr appt. on Tuesday. After that one, we wait two more weeks then we have weekly appts! I can't believe we are this far along even though the last few weeks have been dragging on.

Other than that, things are going great with work and my husband and I. We have gotten a Maxima (as of today), so I am feeling a lot better about not having to climb in and out of my 2 door car with an infant. I go on Wednesday to sign my maternity leave papers. I have decided to take my 6 weeks w/partial pay and then take 2 extra unpaid weeks off. I think that's about as long as we can stretch the money out. I think we have figured out that with my husband's school schedule next semester and him hopefully being able to find a 2nd shift/weekend job, that he will be able to stay home with Addison from the end of March until June 12th when I get out of work for the summer. I really hope it ends up working out so that she doesn't have to go to daycare until next school year starts. Anyways, I have to go attempt to clean the house. I will probably end up watching a movie though ;-) Happy Saturday!

December 17 (36 w 1 d)

So we had an interesting weekend. Saturday morning, I woke up having period-like cramps. I just laid in bed attempting to time and I ended up having 6 in one hour, so I called the on-call dr. Got no response. Luckily, my step-mom is good friends with my OB, so she called her to ask what I should do. The dr. said for me to go into L & D since I was almost 36 weeks and they were that frequent. I didn't think I was in labor, but was more worried something was wrong. We went in, sure enough they were mild contrax. They gave me a shot to stop them b/c my dr. really wants me to make it to at least 37 weeks. Once the contrax stopped, we were sent home. I am not dialated & cervix is still long and high. Boo. I was at least hoping for some sort of progress even though you can stay dialated for weeks. We go back to the dr. tomorrow afternoon, so I am hoping we find something new out. We'll see. Update tomorrow after the appt.

Saturday, December 22 (36 weeks 6 days)

Yay! One more day and Addison will be full term. We had our d/a and she was head down but not engaged at all. In fact, we had to get an u/s to make sure she was head down b/c she's still so high. I was hoping she had at least started to engage, but maybe she will have by our next appt. which is Friday, the 29th. We did Christmas with my mom's family today and we got the monitors, a toy to go on the car seat, some outfits, and the sleep positioner. I pretty much feel like we have everything we need (someone has gotten us the breastpump and 2nd car seat base, so I guess we'll be gettting that very soon, too.) It's looking like we only are going to have to buy the swing and maybe a few little things, which is fantastic. Well hopefully I'll have some good progress by this Friday. Will update after that appt. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 30 (38 weeks)

So we have made it to 38 weeks. Yay! Went to the dr. on Friday and still no progress. :-( I have been sick since Christmas Day and still not feeling 100%, so I guess it's a good thing that she's not ready to come yet. I have given up hope on a New Year's baby and accepted the fact that I will probably go until the 17th, the official eviction date my dr. gave me. We have another appt. this Friday bright and early in the am, but I am not getting my hopes up. We are officially ready for Addison's arrival. All her "stuff" has been washed, I am boiling the nipples today, and her swing should be here this week. It's crazy to think that life will forever be changed in less than 18 days. I will update again after Friday's appt. Hope everyone has a great New Year's. My husband has to work, so it's gonna suck considering no one wants to hang out soberly on NY. :-(
